Go To

In 1954, a missing Helge returns but he'll only speak to Noah. In 1987, Claudia brings the time machine to Tannhaus, and Egon questions Ulrich again.

Tropes:

  • Asshole Victim: Adam, noting Noah is distressed after killing Claudia, tries to assure him that she deserved what happened to her.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Claudia to both Egon and Regina.
  • Berserk Button: Ulrich flips out when Egon shows him Mikkel's photo, believing Egon was purposefully lying to him.
  • Blatant Lies: Noah lies that he didn't find the missing pages to Adam's face.
  • Character Death: Noah kills Claudia to retrieve the missing pages of the journal.
  • A Day in the Limelight: This episode focuses on Claudia and Egon as they try to make sense of Time Travel thrust on them (Egon and Adult Claudia) or leaving small clues (Old Claudia). Of course for Old Claudia, this later leads to...
  • A Death in the Limelight
  • Dramatic Irony: Egon believes his married life is ending due to Doris focusing on Claudia, while it's shown she's having an affair with Agnes.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Claudia doesn't hesitate going to her death, as in her own words, she had been expecting it and had enough time to prepare.
  • Grandfather Paradox: A version. Tannhaus admits to Adult Claudia that the book given to him by her older version was the inspiration of his bestseller, and also admitting his time machine wouldn't have gone ahead as it did without outside help from time.
  • Internal Reveal: In 1987, Egon starts to realize that Ulrich might really be from the future when he finds newspaper articles about Mikkel's disappearance in 2019.
    • Ulrich learns where Mikkel actually went when he disappeared from 2019.
    • Adult Claudia learns about Egon's cancer.
    • She also sees Regina's cancer progressing with her own eyes when she arrives in 2020.
  • Kid from the Future: An elderly Claudia talks to her father in 1954 (without revealing who she is) and apologizes to him, saying that he didn't deserve any of what happened to him.
  • Meaningful Echo: In 1954, little Claudia says the same words to her father Egon that the elder Claudia said to him the same day, which leaves Egon perplexed.
  • The Mole: Agnes (apparently) is Claudia's agent in Sic Mundus.
  • Morality Pet: Kid Helge is apparently this to Noah.
  • Not So Stoic: Noah utterly breaks down when he sees Charlotte's name in Claudia's missing pages.
    • Claudia begins to cry seeing her daughter's illness in 2020.
  • Pet the Dog: Noah and Old Claudia imply Agnes's relationship with Doris is this.
  • Plot Armor: Helge is obviously shown to live to his old age, so Noah has no issues testing the chair on him.
  • Primal Scene: Claudia walks in on her mother having sex with Agnes.
  • The Reveal: Agnes Nielsen is Noah's sister.
  • Stockholm Syndrome: Kid Helge possibly develops this for Noah.
  • Title Drop: Regina forgets her copy of Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts at home and asks her mother if she knows where it is.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Noah vents to Claudia that she used him for her own ends. Claudia doesn't deny it, but also reminds him he's still being deluded by Adam, and advises him to reconsider his service.
    • Noah later tries to subvert it by lying to Adam.
  • Wham Episode: Noah kills Claudia.
