Recap / Batman The Brave And The Bold S 3 E 3 Night Of The Batmen

Go To

  • Actor Allusion: Plastic Man references Elvis during his argument with Aquaman, Green Arrow, and Captain Marvel by calling the Captain "Bat Elvis". Johnny Bravo, who was voiced by Jeff Bennett was an Elvis parody right down to the voice.
  • Bad "Bad Acting": The 4 Batmen all blatantly suck at the role. Only Catwoman and the Joker caught on that they’re fakes.
  • The Cameo: The DCAU's Batman, DCAU's Batman Beyond and The Batman appear to help Brave and the Bold's Batman.
  • Continuity Nod: The alternate Batmen from "Game Over for Owlman!" and the alien counterpart from "The Super-Batman of Planet X!" appear in the last scene offering to help out.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Bane delivers one to Captain Marvel after he brags out loud about how he works out. Cue Bane pressing a button to get a dose of venom pumped into his muscles before Marvel gets kicked like a football by Bane.
  • Dating Catwoman: Catwoman says her sexier costume was explicitly to get Batman's attention, so she's livid when it's Plastic Man who shows up instead.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Plastic Man briefly has one of these moments during his argument with Green Arrow, Captain Marvel, and Aquaman by snarkily calling Marvel "Bat Elvis".
  • Didn't Think This Through: Green Arrow throws one of the Batarangs at Deadshot, thinking his aim is as good as Batman's. He couldn't be more wrong as the Batarang stops at Deadshot's feet. He then decides to use his arrows to blow Deadshot's arm mounted cannon up. Also Joker after Plastic Man, Green Arrow, Aquaman, and Captain Marvel escape from the light bulb coils they were held hostage in by Joker.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Plastic Man gawks at Catwoman's sexier costume much to Catwoman's disgust.
  • Epic Fail: Green Arrow attempts to throw a Batarang at Deadshot; it flutters in the air for a bit before landing harmlessly at the assassin's feet.
Deadshot: [genuinely bewildered] Was that meant for me?
  • Failure Is the Only Option: Though Aquaman manages to snag a stolen bag of loot from Penguin with a seaweed rope, he is not able to stop Penguin from making his getaway in a giant submarine.
  • Guns vs. Swords: Or rather bow vs sword in this case. As could be excepted, not even Green Arrow has the patience to listen to another minute of Cavalier's British lingo so Green Arrow deals with him quickly. That is before Babyface, Killer Moth, Sportsmaster, and Fun Haus show up.
  • Historical In-Joke: Plastic Man sarcastically calls Captain Marvel "Bat-Elvis" due to his high-collared cape; in real life, Elvis Presley was a huge fan of Captain Marvel's comics and even based his famous rhinestone jumpsuits off of the hero's costume.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: After Batman says that no one must know he's injured, Plastic Man sends a video message saying he heard the bad news.
  • Mythology Gag:
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Aquaman foolishly publishes his story about how Batman nearly died. Because of it, Gotham is under the mercy of the rampaging supervillains.
  • Oireland: Killer Croc’s portrayal has shades of this.
  • Pun: AQUAMAN, moments before he fights some of Penguin's henchmen.
    AQUAMAN: Oh to halibut!
  • Running Gag: Captain Marvel, AQUAMAN and Green Arrow question how Batman can fight off villains all by himself.
  • Shout-Out: Plastic Man is heard whispering to himself "Oh yeah well i'm rubber you're glue.", which is a reference to Kite-Man's right-hand man Rubberneck from the season two episode "The Long Arm of the Law".
  • Superheroes Wear Capes: Deconstructed. Green Arrow tries this but it gets in the way of getting his arrows. The cape is removed allowing him to do the work.
  • Tranquil Fury: Batman looks pretty mad after hearing Plastic Man somehow learned about his injuries despite it's just himself, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter and Captain Marvel that only knew the truth. Well...
  • Villain Respect: After Plastic Man manages to trap her, Catwoman admits he's quite flexible.
  • Villain Team-Up: Bane, Blockbuster, Killer Croc, and Grundy seem to have teamed up to take advantage of Batman's absence; the other villains running amok in Gotham are doing it solo.
  • The Voiceless: Apart from Kanjar Ro, Bane, as well as Fun Haus, Sportsmaster, Blockbuster, and Killer Moth also make silent cameos.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Joker does this to lure Batman for the kill. Thankfully, Batman shoot the attack right back at him.
