Haruka: After suddenly showing up, Jiro Momotani proclaimed himself Taro's successor as leader.
However... after he was able to transform into Don Doragoku, he helped us rescue Taro.

Jiro Momotani, who seeks to get along with the Donbrothers, starts imitating Taro in an attempt to learn from his respected idol. He also attempts to draw manga and write haikus like Haruka and Shinichi to gain their respect, but ends up irritating them instead. Later, believing himself to be "Taro's Successor", Jiro's demeanor changes completely when Taro rejects him...

Tropes

  • Alternate Identity Amnesia: Dragon!Jiro reawakens after Haruka's slap with no recollection of what happened, and assumes that Kyoryu-Ki was behind what happened to him.
  • Berserk Button: Jiro's attempts to ingratiate himself to the other Donbrothers ends up pressing these instead. Most egregious with Haruka and Tsuyoshi, who have to deal with their plagiarism charges and marriage being unwittingly trivialized.
  • Book Ends: The episode starts with Tsuyoshi apologizing to the team for his actions as the Gekisou-Ki. The episode ends with Jiro apologizing to the team for turning on them.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Not really, but Jiro thinks this is what happened to him as he doesn't know of his other personality and assumes Kyoryu-Ki must have brainwashed him.
  • Cassandra Truth: Taro initially dismisses Haruka and Shinichi when they warn him about Jiro's darker tendencies. It isn't until he unwittingly triggered Jiro's Superpowered Evil Side and faces him in battle that he actually believes them.
  • Character Development: While still just as haughty, Taro is much more affable to the team since coming back from the Noto's prison, acknowledging their efforts and even apologizing to them (though Shinichi did have to prompt him to do so). He still tries to downplay this by insisting that compliments should be done only once despite Haruka's insistence for him to repeat.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The previous episode states that Jiro doesn't have Kibi-Points because he isn't considered a "companion." Taro changes that this episode, to less-than-stellar results.
  • De-power: The Donbrothers can be robbed of their ability to fight if their glasses are stolen, which Tiger!Jiro does to three of them.
  • Fighting Your Friend: For loose definition of "friend" at this point. Jiro's Split Personality pits him against the other Donbrothers, who are forced to contend with its rampage.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Haruka does this to Tiger!Jiro make him snap out of his persona, with a hefty "The Reason You Suck" Speech for good measure. him.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: As blunt as he was in saying it to Jiro, Taro points that despite his intentions, Jiro still ended up annoying the other Donbrothers in an attempt to endear himself to them, saying that you can't force others to like you automatically. Taro also explains that Jiro can't replace him, because there was nobody exactly like Taro before he was born, and when he passes, there will be nobody exactly like Taro
  • Misery Trigger: Jiro nonchalantly advises Tsuyoshi to break up with Miho, which instills in him a fear of the reverse. She has to actively re-assure him that she still loves him and re-motivates him to fighting form.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Haruka, Shinichi, and Tsubasa are promptly shocked by Tiger!Jiro taking away their powers for no reason.
    • Haruka and Shinichi are also shocked when it's revealed that Taro refuses to hit Jiro presumably because he's using their powers and he is unwilling to harm his companions.
  • One-Person Birthday Party: Not a birthday, but same idea. Taro is the only one that attends Jiro's welcome party because the latter spent the day accidently pressing everyone else's Berserk Buttons.
  • Plot-Irrelevant Villain: Kyoryu-Ki is the Monster of the Week, yet is effectively small-fry compared to the threat Tiger!Jiro poses.
  • Power Copying: Tiger!Jiro is able to assume the other Donbrothers' base forms by scanning their stolen glasses with his.
  • Split Personality: Jiro is revealed to have one during his conversation with Taro, represented by the dragon or tiger. While Dragon!Jiro is affable and energetic, Tiger!Jiro is ruthless and full of hatred towards anybody that disrespects him.
  • Stop Copying Me: Jiro spends the first half of the episode trying to imitate the other Donbrothers, which only pisses all of them off. Doubly so for Haruka and Tsuyoshi, who get their respective Berserk Buttons pressed by the hijinks.
  • Stylistic Suck: Not only is Jiro’s manga about his exploit full of poor art and cliche dialogue, but his attempt at a haiku is basically taking about the blue sky in all three lines.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After getting some encouragement from Miho, Tsuyoshi uses a combination of his wits and powers to save Taro from the worst of Tiger!Jiro's attacks.
  • Tranquil Fury: Tiger!Jiro assaults the Donbrothers as he recites a twisted version of the Momotarō story that depicts him as the true hero.
"Once Upon a Time, there lived a Grandpa and a Grandma.
While doing laundry, Grandma came across a giant peach tumbling down the river.
From the peach, a very filthy baby was born. That was Taro. Having no other choice, Grandpa and Grandma raised him.
Over time, Taro grew into a self-centered and wild young man.
When Taro ended up causing trouble for Grandpa and Grandma, the heavens sent in a true hero! That hero was Jiro.
Jiro promptly executed Taro! And they lived Happily Ever After."
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: While Jiro doesn't become a Hitotsu-Ki as a result, just like #2, #4, and #11, Taro ends up causing the primary conflict of the episode by upsetting Jiro through his usual blunt way of talking, only calling him a "companion" instead of going along with Jiro's aspirations to replace him. Although, to give Taro some credit, he didn't expect Jiro to turn on the other Donbrothers in anger thanks to his Split Personality emerging.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Jiro trying to imitate every Donbrother in some shape or form ends up with them berating him in some fashion.
