Quotes / The Hermit

Go To

Out of love for God or disgust for Man (or perhaps both), you have sequestered yourself away from humanity. Are you a monk sheltering in a monastery? Or a lone madman on the edge of the wilderness? You might be an old woman who prefers the company of animals over people, or a young one who has fled poverty or an arranged marriage for a life of solitude. Hermits live in cities too, bundled away in laboratories, libraries, academies and workshops until necessity breaks their silence. Whatever life you have chosen, something has intruded on it; for the moment, you have companions and a goal. Perhaps after this cursed business is finished you can retreat into solitude again!
The Hermit, Mage: The Sorcerer's Crusade — Companion

Berto Consalvi: To keep out the busybodies!

Emil Blonsky: A girlfriend? She helps him, maybe?
Thunderbolt Ross: She is no longer a factor, we closed those doors to him a long time ago. He's alone. He wants to be alone.

I'm an immortal spirit! I am. I am. I am! And that's a fact. I am the spirit of living in a cave and laughing at idiots like you!
—The Cave Hermit, Red Dead Redemption II

Mayakovsky: I am a dead man, Quentin. This is my grave. I bury myself here.
Quentin: That's ridiculous. It's stupid. You can break the bond. You can come back anytime. Come with us!
Mayakovksy: You keep your shit world! You hear me? You keep it! I will stay here. I am done. It is over for me. You are a pathetic mediocrity, but you are braver than me. You will not end like Mayakovsky. It is not over for you.

My dream home has like ten thousand dead-bolts
And less than no windows, I mean, shit
