Basic Trope: The belief that all anime is hentai.
- Straight: Alice worries about her eleven-year-old son Bob watching anime for fear that it will have porn in it, even though the anime Bob watches is not pornographic or even Ecchi, and is in fact completely devoid of sexual Fanservice.
- Exaggerated: Alice thinks that anything Japanese is pornograpic.

- The anime Bob watches has an Innocent Innuendo which Alice mistakes for a sex scene.
- Alice thinks that most anime is pornograpic.
- Justified:
- Alice is overly-protective toward her son and lowkey racist (especially toward Japanese), so she believes anime isn't kid-friendly like Saturday-Morning Cartoon.
- Alice only has ever seen one anime in her whole life, and it's hentai.
- Inverted:
- Alice thinks all anime is non-sexual.
- Alice thinks that all cartoons that are not anime are porn.
- Alice thinks that all cartoons are for kids, so anime can't possibly be pornographic.
- Subverted: Alice has absolutely no problems watching anime, despite being prudish enough to think kissing is lewd and gullible enough to believe people about almost anything.
- Double Subverted: Turns out Alice actually has a radically different idea of what's sexual, and thus all the anime she watches is hentai she was referred to by perverts.
- Parodied:
- A rating says "Warning-this is anime".
- When the Token Wholesome character is undergone Art Shift into anime style, the character suddenly becomes Hotter and Sexier.
- Averted:
- Alice does not think that all anime is sexual.
- Alice doesn't have any opinion about anime, or anime doesn't mentioned in the show.
- Lampshaded: "You can't watch that, Bob! It's anime!"
- Enforced: The writers believe in this stereotype, and they want to spread it.
- Invoked: Charles shows Alice an anime which is hentai, leading her to believe all anime is like that.
- Exploited: Charles sells anime to people who believe this stereotype, because Sex Sells.
- Defied: Alice does research and finds out that non-sexual anime does exist.

- When Alice figures out that Bob watching Kodomomuke anime, her face turns red and she quickly shut the screen off, condemn him about "bad influences" from anime, and gives him detention. Later, she asks Charles if he's watching any animation. Charles says he's watching Big Mouth, and Alice say "How innocent are you! So adorable!"
- Every single anime reference is a source of dirty jokes.
- Played for Drama:
- Alice is the target of Bob's anger, who keeps saying "My mom won't let me watch the shows I like." Later in public, she returns to her diatribe about "Japanese cartoon porn like 'AKIRA'," and snaps at Diane for corrupting Bob when Diane tries to correct her. Alice's unfortunate misunderstanding causes her neighborhood to run her out for repeatedly lashing out at Diane.
- This belief makes Cosplay Otaku Girl being raped and doesn't taken seriously, either being blamed as her fault or falsely claimed that she actually "enjoys" it.
