Heartwarming / Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Go To

Spoilers Off applies to all Moments pages, so all spoilers below are unmarked! You Have Been Warned.

  • The Morales family is dealing with the loss of Jefferson and the subsequent emotional as well as economic fallout. Not the least being that they had to move from their previous Brooklyn home to their grandmother's apartment in Harlem. The family still sticks together and it's clear that both have been there for each other throughout.
  • There is a photo of Jefferson in his police uniform prominently displayed over the fireplace of the Morales' new apartment. The family is never far from his gaze.
  • The player can have Miles choose to play one of his dad's favorite vinyls for Christmas dinner. Rio says it's the perfect choice.
  • Rio invites Miles' best friends Ganke and Phin over for Christmas Dinner.
  • When Roxxon agents move to attack Miles after the Braithwaite Bridge fiasco, all the people he saved immediately yell at the agents to stop and to leave Spider-Man alone. Some even try to record the scene and worried the agents pushed him off when Miles goes invisible for the first time.
    • Extra heartwarming when you look at the social media feed after this mission. Although most people are understandably divided over whether or not Miles is to blame for the bridge incident, almost everyone agrees that the Roxxon agents were out of line.
  • During the FNSM App side mission where you search for Howard's pigeons, Miles is initially groaning when he hears that Peter installed the Howard Protocol's "Pigeon Facts" in his suit. As the facts go on, however, Miles begins to enjoy the trivia, which culminates in the last "fact"; a thinly-veiled statement that's less to do with pigeons and more to do with Peter's friendship with Howard.
Holo-Pete: Sometimes you don't understand how special something is until you see it through the eyes of a friend.
  • During the VR training side missions, Peter, in contrast to the Taskmaster challenges of his own game, is a very encouraging mentor even through mishaps and low ranks. When replaying these missions, Peter often brings up anecdotes from his time as Spider-Man, such as the historical value of all the places he's swung and ran along, his first real battles against certain foes, or even just funny stories from this side of his life (like complaining about not getting a cool slice of cake after stopping a hostage situation - or as he so eloquently put it, "Fisk shoe cake").
  • Rio discovering Miles' identity. After patching him up, she's upset at the fact that he never told her, but she makes it quite clear she's proud of who he is.
  • At the end of the game, after Harlem is saved, Miles's identity is exposed to several bystanders. In a manner that evokes Spider-Man 2, the bystanders (realizing just how young Miles is) then promise to keep their knowledge hidden even as reporters arrive onto the scene and press them for details, letting Miles escape unhindered.
    • Even more is when the reporters ask who was under the mask, they only have one thing to say:
      Bystander: He's our Spider-Man.
    • The fact that Ganke is the first one to notice that Miles has exploded in mid-air and he's the first one to move to help his friend; the only reason he doesn't get there first is because Miles' mother, Rio, does.
      • Hailey immediately runs to grab Miles' mask to give to Ganke, and protect Miles' identity.
  • The end credits contain a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, concluding with "Wakanda forever."
    • In-game, there’s a street called “Boseman Way.”
    • There is also a statue of Stan Lee in the game, right outside Mick's Diner.
Dedicated with love to the man who nourished the hearts, minds, and souls of True Believers everywhere. Excelsior!
  • F.E.A.S.T. is still running, the good that Martin Li has done continues even with his actions as Mr. Negative.
  • Gloria, the homeless woman Peter saved from getting mugged at the start of the first game, has managed to get great stability in her life. She now is in a committed relationship and managing the Harlem branch of F.E.A.S.T.
  • Uncle Aaron and Miles' awkward heart to heart with music sampling. It ends with him giving Miles a new Spider-suit based on his Prowler colors.
    • Aaron's final message to Miles after completing the story.
  • The Black Lives Matter mural on one of the buildings.
    • From the Friendly Neighborhood app, Miles gets a call for a surprise in front of the mural from the neighbors that he helped. He finds a parcel with the Uptown Pride suit inside it.
    • Just the fact that most of the main characters in this game are people of color, who are morally righteous (Rio), brave (Camila), smart (Ganke), spread positive messages (Danika) and loving towards their friends and family (Aaron). There is even an explicitly lesbian couple in Gloria and Steff.
  • In a weirdly twisted way, Rhino has a moment; he respects both Peter and Miles enough, because they can give him a fabulous fight, to give them "good death" as he says. He could just crush them, but he decides to fight them to the end because he enjoys the fight itself - the thrill is in the chase, never in the capture.
  • At the end of Hailey's side quest, she gives Spider-Man her scarf and earmuffs so he won't get cold.
  • One side mission done post game involves Miles going on a postcard scavenger hunt that was made by his dad as a birthday present. As a bonus, they also include recorded messages, so hearing his dad's voice again means the world to Miles.
    • This last line from Jefferson in the final message:
Jefferson: You are my reason for being brave.
  • A retroactive example but a post-game conversation has Peter say he's moving into a house. After spending the last game homeless and broke, it's nice to see how put-together his life has become since training Miles.
    • Specifically, he's moved into Ben & May's old house in Queens, where he's finding contentment renovating the place. It's heartwarming to know Pete's living and thriving in his childhood home.
  • The Social Feed is back and it has all types of heartwarming moments:
    • Miles is way more active on social media than Peter, often replying to citizens he's helped.
    • Miles' follower count grows over the course of the story. At the start he only has one follower (almost certainly Peter). By the post-game, it's thirteen million.
    • After the bridge incident, there are plenty of people wishing those affected well and calling out Roxxon for trying to shoot Spider-Man.
  • Miles showing his stripes as a Kindhearted Cat Lover with the cat, also called Spider-Man. Just listen to the cat getting petted.
  • Sometimes you can randomly stumble across people just enjoying the winter weather, such as a group of friends having a snowball fight or a couple making snow angels.
  • During one of the training simulations, Peter shares a story from just a week after his Uncle Ben's death. Despite everything, he still had to go to school, and one day after class let out, Peter just found himself sitting there, unable to move. One of his classmates stopped and turned around to see what was wrong and offer support. That person was Harry Osborn, and that was how the two became friends.
