Brooklyn Tide is a 2016 independent conspiracy thriller.

Special Agent Jonathan Corbin, and Agent Samantha Vera are sent to investigate the death of the former's supervisor, Agent Francesco, as well as the disappearance of a supposed cyber-weapon which is later stated to have the capacity to cause damage to nuclear reactors. The mastermind turns out to be someone from Corbin's past.

Brooklyn Tropes:

  • Antagonist Title: The movie is named after an anarchist organization called Brooklyn Tide, who are the source of conflict due to stealing a supposed cyber-weapon.
  • Bad Boss: Clay kills his own infiltrator, Agent Vera, after Special Agent Corbin confronts her.
  • Big Applesauce: The film is set in New York City, particularly in Brooklyn.
  • Bomb-Throwing Anarchists: Brooklyn Tide is decidedly anti government, and they would go so far as to steal a cyber-weapon to do something about it. Of course, Clay is just in it because he wants to spite the FBI.
  • Computer Virus: The cyber-weapon turns out to be a USB drive with a virus which supposedly causes damage to nuclear power plants.
  • FBI Agent: Special Agent Jonathan Corbin and Agent Samantha Vera are sent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to investigate the death of another Federal Agent, as well as the disappearance of a supposed cyber weapon.
  • Jurisdiction Friction: The FBI initially has problems working with the NYPD.
  • Going Critical: The cyber-weapon supposedly has the capacity to cause a nuclear power plant to have a meltdown, which is why Clay wants it.
  • In the Back: Clay stabs Agent Vera from behind after she is revealed as the mole.
  • MacGuffin: Both the FBI and the Brooklyn Tide pursue a drive which supposedly has the potential to cause nuclear damage.
  • The Mole: Agent Vera turns out to be in League with Corbin's former partner, Clay; unlike Clay, she has somewhat benevolent intentions, as she considers nuclear power to be everything wrong with the world.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Corbin states that he felt awful for informing on Clay for his corruption, and that he was held in contempt for doing so, despite having done so because it was the moral decision.
  • One-Steve Limit: Not only are there two characters named "Jonathan", but Jonathan Corbin and Jonathan Clay function as the protagonist and antagonist respectively, were former partners, and both have the initials JC.
  • Rogue Agent: Clay is a former FBI Agent who was imprisoned for taking dirty money, and as revenge, he intends to cause a nuclear disaster.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Unlike Clay, who wants to endanger millions of lives with a meltdown out of revenge for being put in prison for taking dirty money, Vera wants to decommission nuclear power plants because she sees them as immoral, and because she sees them as a source of fear mongering.
