Aftermath is a Horror Movie by Peter Winther.

Natalie Dadich (Ashley Greene) and Kevin Dadich (Shawn Ashmore) are a young couple whose relationship isn't in the best place right now. Natalie recently cheated on Kevin, and despite them still being together, and still being in love, the affair still left things between them strained.

Kevin decided a change of scenery was needed, so he purchased a house for them to move into. Thing is, the house is also one in which another couple were killed in a murder-suicide, which he helped to clean up. Regardless, the two decide to make the most of it.

However, soon strange things start happening in the house. And as they get worse, it starts to take a toll on their already-strained relationship.

The film was released on August 4th, 2021.

Aftermath contains examples of:

  • Blinding Camera Flash: Natalie uses a camera flash to blind Otto, and keep him from killing her.
  • Cutlass Between the Teeth: Otto places a syringe in his teeth before going to kill Kevin.
  • Everyone Is a Suspect: There are a lot of people who could be behind the hauntings in addition to it being a supernatural phenomenon, like Natalie's ex-lover, Kevin's project partner, the hostile cop, the weird siblings who built the house, Kevin in an attempt at Gaslighting, or Natalie is hallucinating.
  • Fade to White: The screen does so after Kevin and Natalie reconcile in bed after killing Otto.
  • Foreshadowing: Natalie and Kevin are seen watching Rear Window at the beginning of the story, specifically the part where Jimmy Stewart utilizes Blinding Camera Flash to stun his attacker. Natalie does the same thing at the film's climax.
  • Flipping the Bird: Natalie and Kevin do this to the house when they move out.
  • Never Speak Ill of the Dead: Kevin says that the husband splattering their brains on the wall behind him is a "douche move". This gets him some unfriendly looks from the deceased's family.
  • Not What It Looks Like: When Kevin finds he's received a pornography magazine, he tries to call the mail office to cancel the subscription. Then Natalie comes in and sees said pornography magazine.
  • One-Word Title: Naturally.
  • Peek-a-Boo Corpse: Kevin finds Dani's dead body in his and Natalie's bed.
  • Police Are Useless: The one detective Natalie and Kevin keep talking to is dismissive of all their concerns and is especially hostile to Natalie.
  • The Reveal: Otto, Erin's former lover who's been living in the walls of the house, is the one who's been lowering the thermostat, moving things around the house, and other seemingly paranormal events. He's also the one who killed Odi with Nerium, which he was using to kill Kevin.
  • "Scooby-Doo" Hoax: One of the siblings who built the house is partially responsible for some of the scares as part of a plan to buy the house back at a discount.
  • Sheep in Sheep's Clothing: Kevin's classmate looks like a setup to show that Kevin is also having an affair or that she's possibly Yandere, but in the end she's nothing but supportive of Kevin's marriage.
  • Secret Squatter: Otto, Erin's secret former lover, has been living in the house even long after she stopped living in it. When Kevin and Natalie move in, Otto sets his sights on Natalie as his new lover, intending to kill Kevin so he doesn't get in the way.
  • Shear Menace: Natalie uses a pair of scissors against the guys who attacks her in her home, and to kill Otto.
  • Shout-Out: Their dog Odi is presumably named after Odie from Garfield.
  • Stalker Shrine: Otto has one to Natalie in his room. The pictures also have Kevin in them, though Otto scratched his face out of them.
  • Time Skip: After the above-mentioned Fade to White, black letters appear on the screen saying "One month later".
