Imagine if you were one of those ordinary citizens of Gotham, just trying to live your life... and then one day you find yourself being attacked by one of the resident super-criminals. Only Batman's not around to save you...
In Salve, Salvage, & Salvation, set four months after the events of Arkham City, several of the Rogues Gallery are still at large, including the sociopathic Victor Zsasz. Enter Danielle Lee, an Innocent Bystander who has the misfortune of crossing paths with the Serial Killer. However, she is bound and determined that Zsasz will not obtain her mark so easily...

Salve, Salvage, & Salvation contains examples of:
- Alone with the Psycho: A situation Danielle finds herself in frequently, especially with Zsasz.
- Anachronism Stew: As usual in the Arkhamverse; specifically, the story takes place in Gotham with its old-fashioned feel, while characters have cell phones and the protagonist winds up learning self-defense by watching internet videos.
- Batter Up!: The protagonist's eventual weapon of choice.
- Bittersweet Ending: Zsasz's fate. He gets better in the sequel.
- Break Them by Talking: In addition to the usual torment, Zsasz attempts this on Danielle several times. Danielle often responds with a Shut Up, Hannibal!
- The Cameo: A few different members of the Rogues Gallery.
- Covered with Scars: Zsasz as usual and eventually Danielle.
- Damsel out of Distress: The premise of the whole story, though it is played with at times.
- Despair Event Horizon: When Zsasz rapes Danielle. Or possibly after Danielle attempts to murder Zsasz in retaliation.
- The Determinator: Danielle goes through every strategy she can think of to survive against Zsasz.
- Evil Phone: One of the many ways Zsasz torments the protagonist.
- Foreshadowing: The second time that Zsasz and Danielle meet, Danielle throws herself out of a window to escape him. Falling winds up becoming a theme...
- Heel–Face Turn: Deliberately subverted (except for the alternate ending).
- Innocent Bystander: How Danielle starts out; over the course of the story, she becomes an Action Survivor (and becomes an Action Girl in the sequel story).
- Stalker without a Crush: Starts out this way...
- Villain Has a Point: Zsasz's beliefs about life being meaningless both unnerve Danielle and force her to examine her life.
- Worthy Opponent: Zsasz and Danielle come to regard each other as this.
