...Fucking Tinkers is a Sword Art Online & Worm crossover fanfiction written by violetshadows

After the Golden Dawn, Taylor wakes up in a digital world without any clue as to how she got there after Contessa put two rounds into the back of her head. Initially believing it to be a prison made by a Tinker, she soon learned she was in the world of Aincrad and was now a part of the trapped player base in Sword Art Online. But the Death Game takes a drastic change from canon as the Queen Administrator Shard begins to influence Cardinal, and things quickly escalate beyond its creator's control.

Read it on SpaceBattles or Sufficient Velocity.

Tropes found in this fanfiction include:

  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: It becomes apparently clear that Cardinal has gone off-rails beyond Kayaba's plans on the fifth-floor, Where Fenrir not only attacked a Safe Zone, but followed the clearers through the teleportation gate and laid waste to the Town of Beginnings.
    • Skull Reaper makes its way down to the Tenth Floor when it registers Kayaba's dead.
  • Anyone Can Die: By the fifth floor, we've lost Diabel, Kuredeel, and Godfrey, and at least 1/3 of the total players in the game were killed off.
  • Big Bad Friend: Heathcliff, who is secretly Kayaba, is probably the closest person Taylor can call a friend in the game.
  • Brain Uploading: Kayaba does this to himself at the end of his interlude chapter, 4.I, after being shot.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The fight between Taylor and Kibaou was this. Poor bastard died in two seconds.
  • Darker and Edgier: Oh, sweet merciful buddha yes! It starts with Taylor killing Kibaou and gets worse. By the sixth floor, the population is down by 1/3.
  • Dirty Business: Taylor dealing with Kibaou came down to this. In her eyes, if he was allowed to start having the Beta Testers discriminated against, it would have weakened their efforts against the boss.
    • Argo has Kirito secretly kite the third floor boss to a meeting of guilds in order to convince them to work together. It works, but ends up with about thirty-two people dead.
  • Dramatic Irony: Kirito essentially committed MPK when he kited the 3rd Floor Boss to those other players, just like Coper tried to do to him. Him realizing this is probably why his expression reads, My God, What Have I Done?.
  • The Dreaded: After killing Kibaou, Taylor comes off as terrifying to most players. It got so bad that the DDA hired Laughing Coffin to try and kill her by the third floor.
  • Duel to the Death: Taylor tells Kibaou to shut up or put up. He takes the challenge and she promptly kills him two seconds into the duel.
    • ZTE vs Godfrey, with Godfrey dying.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Kayaba's assistant,Koujiro Rinko, was the one person close to him, willingly helping him with SAO. She gets killed in the final part of the first arc and her death is enough to cause him to trigger.
  • Foe Romance Subtext: Johnny Black has a real interest in Taylor for her ruthlessness and how she's not afraid of pain or killing.
  • Gangbangers: Taylor basically sees the 1337 and DDA as these, with the guilds as a whole representing different gangs.
  • Homage: The town of 4th Floor is a homage to The Shadow Over Innsmouth and the boss <???, the Slender> is to Slender.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Kirito's expression at the end of 3.4 after they finally defeat Shadar, the floor boss that he led to them, after which it killed a number of players.
    • Kayaba at 4.6, in the aftermath of the Fenrir attack.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Kirito and Asuna in 5.I
  • Savage Wolves: Fenrir, who can also summon more wolves from the shadows of the players.
  • Shapeshifter Guilt Trip: The boss on the fourth floor, <???, the Slender> does this by creating copies of the clearers loved ones and then having them speak. To top that, it killed a player and the mimicked their voice to ask why they let him die. Many players, Kirito included, start flipping out.
  • Stern Teacher: Taylor to Silica once she joins the Knight of the Blood Oath.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: The various guilds not working together is the main source of a problem in the story at first. Fenrir puts an end to that, as they agree to join together into one unit—the Knights of the Blood Oath.
  • Wham Episode: Chapter 4.I - Heathcliff has Kayaba found by Chinese agents who kill his assistant and it causes him to trigger. He still ends up getting mortally wounded, so he uploads his mind into SAO.
  • Yakuza: Argo, and most other players, come to the conclusion that Taylor is Yakuza because her behavior fits the profile of one.
Youth and nationality aside, it was the best idea she could come up with. Her casual acceptance of violence; her seeming ease with a knife. There was even a stilted kind of structure to her actions that she'd seen in some interviews with criminals. She might be wrong, but Argo didn't think so. To all appearances, Khepri was a yakuza. She even pretended to care about the community.
