Go To

Found is the fifth story in Stranded. Star meets Danielle while house-sitting for Danny.

Tropes:

  • And This Is for...: When Valerie and Star rescue Dani from the Guys in White, Star hits one of them and says, "That's for daring to lay a hand on her!"
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Because Star treated her so nicely, Danielle pranked Paulina for insulting her.
  • Big Eater: Star discovers just how much Danielle can eat.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Danielle is forced to leave again to ensure Vlad doesn't find her. However, she gets a stable living arrangement at Sam's family cabin in the meantime and promises to return once Vlad is taken care of, with the promise of having a permanent home with the Fentons.
  • Cassandra Truth: Agent Alpha doesn't believe O and K about the Red Huntress getting in the way because she never had accomplices before, is known for hating ghosts, and isn't affiliated to any ghost hunting organization.note
  • Description Cut: Jazz stops Danny from getting his cell phone back by telling him the manager would've informed him if somebody called. It cuts to the manager changing Danny's phone to "vibrate" to be able to ignore the calls.
  • Disappointed by the Motive: When the Guys in White tell Dani they abducted her to use her as bait to capture Danny and Starlight after their defeat at their hands cost them a bonus, she says "that's the most petty reason I've[she's] heard in my[her] life".
  • Dream Sequence: A good chunk of a chapter is Danielle dreaming that she lives with the Fentons, being Jack and Maddie's daughter as well as Jazz and Danny's sister.
  • Epic Fail: In order to make Dani feel better when they play bowling, Star claims to have once gotten a gutter ball in someone else's lane.
  • Evil Is Petty: Operatives O and K want revenge against Danny and Starlight because their defeat at the latter two's hands cost them a bonus. The pettiness becomes bigger when it's revealed that their families' donations are the only reason Agent Alpha hasn't fired them yet.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Valerie hates Danny Phantom for ruining her life, as he accidentally caused her father to lose his job, leading to them becoming poor and her losing her popularity. Star calls Valerie out for holding a grudge against Phantom despite all he has done to protect the town, pointing out that it was an accident and he genuinely feels bad about it. However, Valerie does not care and says she still sees him as dangerous and a loose cannon. Star counters that Valerie is also dangerous, is justifying a reason to be cruel, and Phantom actually improved her life by getting her out of the A-Listers, and she still has her father and real friends. Star tells Valerie that she's sorry what happened to her father, but Valerie cannot blame everything bad she went through on Phantom. When Valerie refuses to listen and still tries to claim Phantom is evil, Star loses her patience. She states Valerie has not changed at all from her time as an A-Lister and is still finding an excuse to be mean to someone, and Star is done listening to her whining and pinning the blame on someone who just had bad luck. Thankfully, Valerie finally gets her act together after this.
  • Homeless Hero: Contrary to what she said in "D-Stabilized", Danielle did not have places to go. In actuality, she's been living on streets with no home to call her own to get away from Vlad, as well as guilt over getting Danny hurt both times they've been together.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Star slowly bonds with Danielle over the story.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Danielle meets Star, learning that she knows Danny's secret, and her's, and that she's his girlfriend.
    • At the end, Jazz finally learns about Danielle.
  • Irony: Star is the one from an "average" household but has less trouble accepting the idea of Danny having a clone than his sister Jazz has.
  • Kid Sidekick: Star think Dani Phantom would make a good sidekick for Danny once she joins the family.
  • Lesser of Two Evils: Valerie is reluctant about accepting an invitation to sit with Tucker and Sam until Nathan invites her to sit with him and she quickly uses their invitation as an excuse to reject his. The expression "Lesser of two evils" is even used in-story to describe the scenario.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: The Guys in White not only hunt ghosts regardless of the ghosts in question deserving it or not, but also are sexists who believe ghost hunting should be left to men. They also call Georgia a "wage slave" and consider her too low class for her opinion to be spoken to them.
  • Put on a Bus: Colette is away on a trip with her father, making this the first story since her introduction to not feature her.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Star delivers one to Valerie about how the latter hasn't improved as much as she thinks.
  • Shared Family Quirks: While Jack is unaware of her existence, Danielle shares his appetite, something Star notes.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The Guys in White are willing to hurt Dani to get back at Danny and Starlight.
