Gaumont Buena Vista International (GBVI) was a joint venture between Gaumont and Disney, established in January 1993. GBVI ensured the theatrical distribution of films of its two parent companies in France. Obviously, Gaumont films were included, alongside Disney's own brands - Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Feature Animation, Disneytoon Studios, Pixar, Touchstone Pictures and Hollywood Pictures, as well as (for certain releases) Miramax, Dimension Films, Spyglass Entertainment, Cinergi Pictures and Caravan Pictures. By 2001, they began releasing Studio Ghibli's films in the country.

After 10 years of existence, the partnership ended in 2004. Disney reverted back to theatrically releasing films on their own as Buena Vista International France, while Gaumont instead partnered with Sony Pictures (who already held a home video venture with them) and formed Gaumont Columbia TriStar Films.
