Rosalie Anderson MacDowell (born April 21, 1958 in Gaffney, South Carolina) is an American actor and fashion model best known for her roles in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, Green Card, Groundhog Day, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Short Cuts, and sex, lies, and videotape.
She has been married twice and has three children. Both her daughters, Rainey (her second child) and Margaret Qualley (her youngest child) are actresses. MacDowell has now acted with them both (playing the mother of their characters); alongside Rainey in Mighty Fine (Rainey's screen debut) and Margaret with Maid. She also has a son named Justin, her oldest. All her children were born from her first marriage with Paul Qualley, a former fellow model and a rancher.
MacDowell has been the spokeswoman for L'Oreal for over thirty years.
