A Harmless Villain no more.

I Am The Phantom Blot (org. Io sono Macchia Nera) is a Mickey Mouse Comic Universe story, made by Marco Nucci (writer) and Casty (artist) and published in 2021.

Memory... can be a fickle thing. Like how you can forget where you placed your keys or why you entered a room. Mickey and the residents of Mouseton lately have struggled with such forgetfulness.

At first, it was trivial stuff. But soon, more and more essential knowledge has been forgotten. Can you imagine going for a walk and forgetting where you live? As the mass memory loss epidemic worsens, the culprit reveals themselves!

Memory... can be a fickle thing. Like how you can't remember how possibly you could have feared something - like thunderstorms, the howls in the distance... or the King of Evil, the Phantom Blot!

Indeed, the world forgot to fear him and with that - he forgot himself. Losing his edge and becoming just another mug in Mickey's Rogues Gallery. But now, he sees clearly who he is... remembers who he is! And soon, all of Mouston will be forced to as well... and learn what true terror is!

This story received two sequels, Black and White and Nightmare at Coral Island.

I Am The Phantom Blot provides examples of:

  • Amnesiac Lover: Heart-whrenchingly happens to both Mickey and Minnie by the end of the amnesia rainfall. He comes to visit at her house, but once she opens the door, neither of them recognize each other. Mickey leaves and apologizes for being at the wrong house.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The Phantom Blot escapes with no comeuppance and firmly re-established himself as Mouseton's The Dreaded.
  • Cave Behind the Falls: The path to the abandoned power plant the Blot used for his plan is hidden behind a waterfall.
  • Color-Coded Speech: Phantom Blot's thought captions are pitch black with white text.
  • Easy Amnesia: The substance Phantom Blot doses Mouseton with rain causes gradual memory loss. When the rain stops, everyone starts to regain their memories almost immediately.
    • At the climax, the Phantom Blot sprays Mickey with a dosage 10 times stronger than what hit the city. The detective loses his memories almost instantly, though he regains them just the same by the end.
  • Forgetful Jones: The entirety of Mouseton becomes this due to the Blot's scheme.
  • Forgot Their Own Birthday: This was what first clues Mickey that's something is wrong - while he could possibly forget about Minnie's birthday, she never does. And yet, she did!
  • Foul Flower: The white pentadelio, a plant that the Phantom Blot created by grafting poisonous herbs onto lilies and chrysanthemums. It is a beautiful, but extremely delicate flower - one day without care is enough for it to wilt. But if it is cared for, it can be synthesized into a substance that causes memory loss just by contact.
  • Hostile Weather: The rain erases your memories.
  • It Has Only Just Begun: Once the Blot got the now-amnesiac Mickey back against the wall... er, waterfall, he proclaims to his confused nemesis that this entire plot was just the beginning. We see exactly what he means in Black and White.
  • Perpetual Storm: The Blot uses his machine to make it pour his memory erasing rain non-stop in Mouseton for a whole week.
  • Regained Memories Sequence: Once the contaminated rain stops, we are shown how everyone in the city regained their memories.
  • Villain Cred: Phantom Blot's entire motivation is to regain his own by leaving Mouseton in terror.
  • Weather-Control Machine: The Nebulizzatrice Turbine, created by the Phantom Blot to turn water into rainclouds.
  • When It Rains, It Pours: The Phantom Blot causes heavy rain dosed with his amnesia substance to fall on Mouseton for seven days and nights.
