Death of the Inhumans is a 2018 miniseries starring The Inhumans. It is written by Donny Cates with art by Ariel Olivetti and Kaare Andrews. The miniseries was launched as part of the Marvel: A Fresh Start initiative.

Following the events of Royals and Black Bolt, The Inhumans face their own extinction.

Death of the Inhumans provides examples of:

  • C-List Fodder: Most of the characters killed off in Death of the Inhumans fit this, with the majority of the deaths being characters like the Universal Inhumans from Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four run and the recent Nuhumans from Charles Soule's work. The only actual deaths among the royal family were Maximus and Triton, and even the latter has historically been considered the least popular member of the core Inhumans. The end result makes it seem like the purpose of the story was to get rid of the extraneous Nuhumans who'd failed to catch on more than anything.
  • Demoted to Extra: After being pushed as the Suspiciously Similar Substitute for the mutants and X-Men for so long, The Inhumans have been reduced to practically nothing in terms of narrative with them only having one book (a miniseries) in the entire relaunch: Death of the Inhumans, which essentially served to have them Put on a Bus. The only ones to remain active are Breakout Character Ms. Marvel and Kid-Appeal Character Moon Girl. This is because, with the film rights now in Marvel's hands (and thus the reason the Inhumans were ever pushed to begin with), the X-Men are now being treated as a core pillar of the Marvel Universe again, and thus leaving the Inhumans with no niche to call their own.
  • Killed Off for Real: A large number of NuHumans and Universal Inhumans are killed in the event. Triton and Maximus are the only major casualties of the Royal Family who die during the event.
  • Plot Armor: Despite Death of the Inhumans revolving around the Kree setting out to massacre the Inhuman race, the most popular new Inhumans like Ms. Marvel and Moon Girl conveniently don't appear.
  • The Purge: The Kree decided to do this again in Death of the Inhumans. The end result saw the Nuhumans being mostly eradicated.
