Male Students

    B027: Theodore Fletcher
B027: Theodore Fletcher
Designated Weapon: Browning Hi Power 9mm
Conclusion: Nice gun. Shame this guy lacks anything approaching the balls to actually make use of it. - Elias Östberg
    B028: Sean Mulcahy
B028: Sean Mulcahy
Designated Weapon: Katar
Conclusion: Avast, matey. Use that to dig some treasure out of some chests. - Shamino Warhen
    B029: Matt Masters
B029: Matt Masters
Designated Weapon: MP 18
Conclusion: The big wuss who's afraid of guns... gets given a gun. ...To be quite honest I'm not sure I need to say anything else. This speaks for itself. - Elias Östberg
    B030: Luca Johanssen
B030: Luca Johanssen
Designated Weapon: Replica Star Wars Lightsaber
Conclusion: Conspiracy theorists haven't had much luck in the game, historically. At least it provides a good opportunity to explore from the inside, right? I'm curious to see what B030 makes of this arena. I doubt he'll add much else of interest to the proceedings. - Christina Stockton
    B031: Mark Little
B031: Mark Little
Designated Weapon: Length of Rope (10 feet)
Conclusion: Like any sportsman, B031 should know how much of success is in the mind. Without a good mindset, all the skills and fitness in the world won't help him make anything of himself. A poor weapon draw exacerbates that situation, but even a good one wouldn't neutralize it. - Christina Stockton
    B032: Rutherford "R.J" Roger Jr.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b032_rutherford_roger.png
B032: Rutherford Roger Jr.
Designated Weapon: MAT-49 (SMG)
Conclusion: This one's a study in contrasts. He's got the right skills to stand a chance, but the wrong attitude. Still, there's enough of an edge that I think he may be able to overcome it for a time. I'd say a more-skilled Eddie Sullivan than a more-pathetic Bryan Calvert, though. - Christina Stockton
    B033: Jason Meyers
B033: Jason Meyers
Designated Weapon: Smith & Wesson .357 Revolver
Conclusion: Ponies. Fucking PONIES. Let's see the magic of friendship when his bestest buddy is re-purposing his intestines as house decoration. - Elias Östberg
    B034: Joey Caputo
B034: Joey Caputo
Designated Weapon: Kukri
Conclusion: That's not a great weapon for brute strength, not if he can't get close. The stupid usually fall sooner than later, especially if they don't have somebody there to watch out for them. I predict a bloody out at the quarter-mark. - Christina Stockton
    B035: Ray Gilbert
B035: Ray Gilbert
Designated Weapon: Guy Fawkes Mask
Conclusion: Selflessness? Psh, M35, you bring shame to the name of Anonymous. lrn2ply - Jim Greynolds
    B036: Benjamin Ward
B036: Benjamin Ward
Designated Weapon: D&D 3.5 Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual
Conclusion: Ooh, a slightly arrogant leader? Sounds like a good Dungeon Master to me. I mean, he also sounds like a bit of a dick, so AD&D might have been better. Too bad we didn't throw in a copy of the Tomb of Horrors. - Dennis Lourvey
    B037: Ian Williams
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b037_ian_williams.png
B037: Ian Williams
Designated Weapon: Polaroid Instant Camera With Film (Enough for 8 photographs)
Conclusion: We'll see how this goes. B037 should be fine without a weapon, but I just don't see good things in his future. Call it a gut hunch. - Christina Stockton
    B038: Brian Zhdanovich
B038: Brian Zhdanovich
Designated Weapon: Pungi Sticks x 8
Conclusion: - How disappointing would it be to see to see B038 put together some cunning trap just to forget where it is and blunder right into it? Pretty freaking disappointing, I'd say, if by disappointing you mean hilarious! - Andrew Denning
    B039: Takeshi Yoshikawa
B039: Takeshi Yoshikawa
Designated Weapon: Magnesium Firestarter
Conclusion: So this boy likes those Japanese cartoons? I think I saw Astro Boy when I was a kid. I'm sure one of those shows has characters with fire powers or something so he'll like this. You're a fire starter, wicked fire starter. - Abby Soto
    B040: Tyler Lucas
B040: Tyler Lucas
Designated Weapon: Pilot Goggles
Conclusion: These goggles are the closest this kid will ever come to successfully flying high. - Shamino Wahren
    B041: Virgil Jefferson-Davis
B041: Virgil Jefferson-Davis
Designated Weapon: Saiga-12
Conclusion: Virgil Jefferson-Davis? Shouldn't he be, like, gunning down zombie slaves in Limbo or something? I'd totally watch that movie, by the way. We'll talk if you get out of here, B041. Which, I've got to say, seems not totally unlikely. Which is basically like really freaking likely in this game. Man, I wonder if I can get royalties... - Andrew Denning

    B042: Arthur Wells
B042: Arthur Wells
Designated Weapon: 56 oz. bag of M&M
Conclusion: What a shock, fatty got some chocolate candies. He's got the build to make it far, but it seems like he's not suited for working in teams or outlasting people through determination and savagery. Eat up. - Abby Soto
    B043: Adonis Alba
B043: Adonis Alba
Designated Weapon: Obsidian Knife
Conclusion: - Oh man, that knife is awesome - wicked sharp doesn't even begin to describe it! Just got to be careful not to dull it or something. Or not, actually. That sucker almost took my thumb off. - Andrew Denning
    B044: Travis Webster
B044: Travis Webster
Designated Weapon: Roll of Duct Tape
Conclusion: - A wanker like him would likely have been in jail or dead of an overdose within a year anyway. Unless he has unnatural skill with tape, his over-confidence will end him quickly and his family will be all the happier for it. - Penny Sullivan
    B045: Juhan Levendi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b045_juhan_levendi.png
B045: Juhan Levendi
Designated Weapon: Party Bag (contains a noisemaker, party hat, two single-serving bags of candy, and a Hotwheels car)
Conclusion: Hey when he dies, I call dibs on the car, okay? I collect those. - Elias Östberg
    B046: Xavier Contel
B046: Xavier Contel
Designated Weapon: Arsenal Firearms AF 2011-A1 Second Century
Conclusion: If only pretending to be a fictional character made it so, Mr. Contel. Then you could become someone who isn't a delusional wanker. - Penny Sullivan
    B047: Marcus Leung
B047: Marcus Leung
Designated Weapon: Falchion
Conclusion: Chinese are industrious people, but this boy is softer than pile of gravy. The time for self doubt has already run out and you aren't getting more. - Abby Soto
    B048: Corey Esposito
B048: Corey Esposito
> Designated Weapon: Swedish Made Male member Enhancement Pump> Conclusion: Another video game loving g- ...uh. Is that-is that a, um...for your....er. Um. Next file, please! - Abby Soto
    B049: Maynard Francis Hurst
B049: Maynard Francis Hurst
Designated Weapon: Naginata
Conclusion: There has never been a badass named Maynard in the history of the world, and this kid doesn't look like he's going to buck the trend. He can make a name for himself by writing some sonnets for us before he dies. We could stand to class the game up a bit. - Shamino Warhen
    B050: Clayton Leven
B050: Clayton Leven
Designated Weapon: Handcuffs
Conclusion: Given this kid's downward spiral, he was going to get introduced to handcuffs sooner or later. At least this way, he can use them on someone else first. - Shamino Warhen
    B051: Gavin Hunter
B051: Gavin Hunter
Designated Weapon: Lead Pipe
Conclusion: Well, it's not a revolver, unfortunately, but I'm keeping my hopes up. What worked for Colonel Mustard will certainly work for Mr. Hunter - as long as he doesn't drop too many clues about his intentions. - Andrew Denning

Female Students

    G026: Nina Clarke
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/g026_nina_clarke.png
G026: Nina Clarke
Designated Weapon: Pistol Dagger
Conclusion: It... is a gun. Well kind've. Not really. But hey, the not-really-a-gun may help her get an actual gun, and until then G26 actually has the skills to keep herself going. ...That was almost positive. I must be going soft. - Jim Greynolds
    G027: Amaranta Montalvo
G027: Amaranta "Mara" Montalvo
Designated Weapon: Seattle Seahawks Football Helmet
Conclusion: A useless weapon is a bad sign for an otherwise fairly promising contender. If she overcomes it, she may be able to to go a good ways. I think, though, she's more likely to fall victim to someone she's offended and not last far enough into the game to regain control. She's not as superior as she thinks, that's for sure. - Christina Stockton

  • The Ace: Mara is beautiful, charming, well-liked by the public, and seems to have few lingering issues as a result of the game. In a double meaning, Ace Ortega in V7 immortalizes her beauty and ruthlessness in freestyle rap.
  • Determinator: Never thinks of giving up even for a moment. When her family is told that she's in a death game with 152 people they all assume she'll be home in a few weeks.
  • Meaningful Name: Less obvious than some other examples, but noted by Tracen Danya to be the case. Amaranth flowers are beautiful and in the book Paradise Lost, signal immortality.
  • Rich Bitch: Starts the story quite mean and quite wealthy.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Goes on one against Stacy Ramsey to avenge Miranda Millers.
  • Sole Survivor: Winner of Survival of the Fittest Version 5
  • Took a Level in Badass: One of the least battle-ready winners in SOTF history, she starts the story as a spoiled beauty queen. She prevails due in part to wits and sheer determination and due in part to...
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Learning to be less selfish and horrible to people saves her a few times, including being the crucial deciding factor when the runner up hesitates to kill her for so long, they die of injuries.
    G028: Gabriella "Gabby" Parker
G028: Gabriella "Gabby" Parker
Designated Weapon: Single-Headed Meteor Hammer
Conclusion: Another girl who'll coast for a ways on her social skills only to realize that in the end she's only been stalling for time. I doubt G028 has the charm to coax anyone into dying for her, and she'd be more likely to hurt herself than anyone else with that weapon. - Christina Stockton

  • Epic Flail: Her assigned weapon, which she ditches immediately.
  • Huge Schoolgirl: Tallest girl in V5, at 6'2".
  • Sacrificial Lamb: The second character killed off. Compared to the first, her death is a lot more emotional and drawn out.
    G029: Zoe Leverett
G029: Zoe Leverett
    G030: Sara Corlett
G030: Sara Corlett
    G031: Phoebe Cho
G031: Phoebe Cho
    G032: Katarin "Kat" Tolstoff
G032: Katarin Tolstoff
Designated Weapon: Kimberly Nguyen's KA-BAR Combat Knife
Conclusion: What a perfectly unremarkable girl to get the knife of one of the finest winners the game has ever seen. You may want to clean that first. - Abby Soto

  • Senseless Sacrifice: Takes a shotgun blast from Stacy Ramsey meant for Miranda Millers, which causes Miranda to immediately attack Stacy and get killed.
    G033: Kelly Peterson
G033: Kelly Peterson
    G034: Lydia Robbins
G034: Lydia Robbins
    G035: Sophie McDowell
G035: Sophie McDowell
Designated Weapon: Monkey Wrench
Conclusion: I guess you could use that to fix- no, you're not mechanically inclined. Maybe you could make- no, you're not really an engineer. Huh. Such a versatile tool, limited in options to 'smack person in head really hard'. I'm kinda sad. - Dennis Lourvey

"Yeah, we're trying not to cause any trouble,(...) We're fine with just sitting here, talking about music, and hoping some friendly people run by. We don't need to play the game."

  • Agony of the Feet: Sophie forgets her sandals when she has to flee the hotel before it becomes a danger zone, leaving her barefoot for a time and having to rely on house slippers until she's able to go back to the hotel and recover them.
  • Break the Cutie: Watching Dave walk off a cliff did a number on her.
  • Faking the Dead: Sophie tries this when Summer comes in and opens fire in the hotel lobby. It doesn't do her any good when Summer throws a grenade as well.
  • Granola Girl
  • Nice Girl
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Sophie abandons Gavin's escape plan when she gets too scared of it.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Struggles with being this, but is constantly hoping things will get better while in SOTF.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Playing dead when being shot can sometimes be a good plan but lying motionless when the attacker also throws a grenade into the room leads to Sophie's quick death.
