Characters / Knightmare Series 7 Teams

Go To

Team 1

Dungeoneer: Simon
Advisors: David, Matthew, Nicholas
From: Cornwall
Object of quest: Cup
Level attained: Level 3
Cause of death: Incorrect choice during a puzzle

  • Dope Slap: Matthew received a punch in the arm from Nicholas when he described Grimaldine as 'he's old'. This after Treguard told them to be polite.
  • Lampshaded Double Entendre: Faced with the clue 'Two Beauties are Better than One', Nicholas seemed quite pleased with himself when pointing that the gem was a beauty, and the bottled-up Sidriss was "Probably a beauty." Even Treguard looked uncomfortable at that.
  • Not the Fall That Kills You…: The first team of the series to face, and fall victim to, the Play Your Cards Right puzzle.
Treguard: Boys, you were looking for something devious, when all you had to do was follow suit.
  • Oh, Crap!: The advisors reaction when they thought that Simon had left the bottle containing Sidriss behind.

Team 2

Dungeoneer: Nicola
Advisors: Lisa, Diane, Vicki
From: Oldham, Lancashire
Object of quest: Sword
Level attained: Level 2
Cause of death: Incorrect clue object choice

  • Darkness Equals Death: Nicola found herself stuck in a dark room, with the sounds of goblins pursuing her. Without the night sight potion she left in the clue room, she was unable to escape and her quest was brought to an end.
Lord Fear: Two-nil, I think. Nice one!

Team 3

Dungeoneer: Alex
Advisors: James, Neil, Richard
From: London
Object of quest: Shield
Level attained: Level 3
Cause of death: Incorrect choice during a puzzle

  • Casting a Shadow: Used a shadow potion to guide Alex safely past a troll.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: Nearly became the first team to complete Play Your Cards Right, only to choose the wrong card on the next to last block. If it was any consolation, Treguard told them their quest was the best and longest at that point.
  • The Glomp: Neil gave a big hug to James after he successfully guided Alex through the moving block puzzle.

Team 4

Dungeoneer: Naila
Advisors: Aquila, Asmita, Samreen
From: London
Object of quest: Crown
Level attained: Level 2
Cause of death: Misunderstanding of puzzle combination

  • Spell Book: Found a book with a talking bookworm that gave them a BOLT spell to fight off Raptor and his goblins.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Confused over the password to the Trial By Spikes, the team started by advising Naila to take a number of steps, instead of noting the number of squares. In their confusion, they guided Naila backward and onto a spike, ending the quest.
Treguard: It was squares, not steps that fed the combination.

Team 5

Dungeoneer: Ben
Advisors: Jonathan, Tim, Ben
From: Salisbury
Object of quest: Cup
Level attained: Level 2
Cause of death: Failure to acquire a vital spell

  • Advancing Wall of Doom: The team was pursued by a troll for all of level 2, which caused them to miss part of the spell they needed to continue the quest. Eventually the troll caught up with them in the the Trial By Spikes room, and with the troll blocking their view and without the spell required to dispel it, the team couldn't guide Ben to safety from the spikes.
Treguard: A swift and merciful end, boys. For without using the Darkness powder, you could not complete the spell you needed to get to the end of Level 2.
  • Almighty Janitor: Played with. A clue guided Ben to choose a mop from the clue room. He was able to use the mop to uncover an INSIGHT spell.
  • Guide Dang It!: The team were supposed to use the Darkness powder in a seemingly empty room to reveal part of the spell they needed to help them complete the Trial by Spikes. They never thought to do so, not even recalling the scroll hint that mentioned it.
  • Tall Poppy Syndrome: In one of the rare cases of Lord Fear appearing before a quest even began, he noted that Ben may be a case of, "The bigger they are, the harder they fall."

Team 6

Dungeoneer: Julie
Advisors: Helen, Samantha, Helen
From: Leek, Staffordshire
Object of quest: Sword

  • Awesome Moment of Crowning: The first team from this season to win their quest, the only team to redeem the sword, and the only all girl team to complete their quest.
  • Guile Hero: Were able to escape Sylvester Hands by tricking him into drinking strong ale and getting him drunk.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted with two Helens.
  • Sizeshifter: Used a GROW ME spell to reclaim a piece of the Arken shield. This was also the final time in the show's run in which a spell was dispelled after being cast.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifter: Using a catnip potion, Julie was able to transform into a giant black cat to scare off the superstitious Raptor and save Romahna.

Team 7

Dungeoneer: Barry
Advisors: Simon, Derek, Daniel
From: Worcestershire
Object of quest: Shield

  • Awesome Moment of Crowning: Second team to complete a quest this season, and were able to save Knightmare Castle without giving up on their quest object.
  • Bavarian Fire Drill: Barry stumbles upon Romahna captured by Sylvester Hands. Forgetting that they have a freeze potion that Barry could use to disable Hands, the team tells Barry to try to convince Hands that Barry was sent by Lord Fear to guard Romahna. The result is Barry Indy Ploy ing his heart out, Romahna getting increasingly annoyed, and Hands getting more and more confused as he tries to keep up, especially when the latter is trying to keep goblins at bay!
Sylvester Hands: Hold on, I can't do eight things at once!
  • Flowery Insults: During the above Bavarian Fire Drill, Daniel told Barry that he could trick Sylvester Hands since he has "the brains of a wombat".
  • Genre Savvy: The very epitome in Knightmare's history. The team and especially Barry seemed to know exactly what they were doing.
  • Giant Foot of Stomping: Used a boot to summon an even larger boot to squash Raptor and his goblins.
  • Motor Mouth: Barry reeeeeally enjoyed interacting with the characters in the dungeon.
  • Outrun the Fireball: Almost ran out of life force from dithering on taking a shell.
  • Sadistic Choice: Barry had summoned Greystagg to help him reclaim the shield and a troll hammer to deal with a troll advancing on Knightmare Castle. Greystagg explained that she only had the power release one of the objects from their force fields. Should Barry choose the shield (winning the quest but dooming Knightmare Castle), or the troll hammer (saving Knightmare Castle but falling short of a winning quest)? Barry did choose the troll hammer, but miraculously the eye shield had been replaced by the Shield of Justice. Perhaps a Secret Test of Character?
  • Slow Motion: When accosted by Hands and a pair of goblins on Level 1, Barry drank a Speedwell potion (which he almost gave away to Rothberry earlier!) that put his assailants into this so he could get past them safely.
