Prince Chengjiao

Zheng's half-brother.

- Ax-Crazy: Take a look at his facial expressions. Mellows out over time though.
- Bad Boss: When his coup falls apart, most of his lackeys desert him. Inverted with his adult supporters, who are truly loyal to him.
- Cain and Abel: The Cain to Zheng's Abel. Zheng is a genuinely heroic figure who wants to do what's best for Qin, and Chengjiao is entitled to have everything for himself because his mother is also a Qin royalty despite not being first in line.
- Character Development: Though still arrogant, he is far less grating after his post-coup exile. Eventually, he grew up to be an honorable young man that is worthy of respect and loyalty... only to be tragically killed by Lu Buwei's machinations.
- Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Has brownish-black hair, pale skin, and is unstable.
- Enemy Mine: When Lu Buwei lays claim to the throne in the King's absence, guess who decides to stand in his way.
- Frameup: Lu Buwei conspired to make it look like he has started another rebellion.
- Pet the Dog: He truly loves his wife, and is one of his most humanizing characteristics. In fact it is exploited by Zheng's enemies and it leads to his death.
- Perpetual Frowner: As an adult.
- Smug Snake: Is almost always smirking.
- Starter Villain: His coup against Zheng over control of Qin and Xin's best friend Piao getting killed by his assassin kickstarts the story.
- Slouch of Villainy: He's always sitting sideways, even on the throne.
- Took a Level in Badass: He eventually grows up to be a competent authority figure.
- Took a Level in Kindness
- Undying Loyalty: In a far cry to how he used to be, a great majority of his vassals as an adult are deeply loyal and follow his dying wish to support Zheng's faction.
- Villainous Breakdown: After Lan Kai is defeated.

- Gentle Giant: While he is still ferocious in battle, he quickly befriends the Mountain Tribesmen after his defeat at their hands.
- Gonk: Barely looks human.

Prince Chengjiao's wife and eventually leader of his faction after his death.
- Slap-Slap-Kiss: How her relationship with Chengjiao started.
- Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: One of the evidence that Chengjiao is a changed man is his genuine love for Rui.
- Undying Loyalty: Continues Chengjiao's work after his death, to support her brother-in-law Zheng.
