The Grian Empire

    General

  • Landmarking the Hidden Base: Under the Grain Station, there is a secret bunker built at Y-7 (just above bedrock) for the Grian Empire, which contains a second train track to the main base of the empire and underground tunnels leading directly to the bases of every member of the server. However, after the addition of Nether travel and the fact that the bunker is quickly compromised, Grian rigs a Morton's Fork-style trap in the base in his 22nd episode — one involving over a stack of TNT.
  • Resignations Not Accepted: Played for Laughs. When Taurtis leaves to start his own faction, Grian responds by shooting arrows at him until he is out of sight, and once he actually finds Taurtis' base, he builds an "The Empire Needs You" billboard in front of his house to annoy him, then invites a fan onto the server to fill Taurtis' base with propaganda posters.

    Grian
IGN: Grian
Preferred Name: Grian
Grian was the admin and creator of the Evo server, and one of the original members of Evo, joining on October 2nd, 2017.
  • All for Nothing: At the start of his 16th episode, Grian embarks on a journey to find one (1) block of clay to finish his wall. Just after the recording is done, he looks into his chests and there are two (2) blocks of clay in the first one he looks in; he immediately calls the episode redundant and himself a fool.
  • Blatant Lies: After being killed by a Zombie while disabling a dungeon spawner, Grian returns to the dungeon claiming that he has made it back without making a single complaint. In between, he has respawned at the world spawn (as beds wouldn't be added until the next update) and made the 700-block walk back to his base, grumbling all the way.
  • Complexity Addiction: Simply leave Netty his gift for the Secret Santa event? Nope, not only is Grian going to make a treasure hunt out of it (which is still relatively normal), but he's going to send Netty the first clue by post, and he'll rope her then-fiancĂ© (now husband) in on it by telling him to hide clues in their real-life house for the event. At least he acknowledges it…
  • Genre Savvy: Exploited. As someone who is familiar with playing on the Beta versions of the game, Grian uses the knowledge of old game mechanisms to troll some of his server-mates who aren't as familiar with the old versions of Minecraft.
  • Powerful Pick: He sometimes uses a pickaxe as an Improvised Weapon against hostile mobs if his sword is deep in his inventory during construction projects.
  • The Prankster: One of the first things Grian brings up during the introduction segment at the start of the series is that everyone can pull pranks based on old glitches in the game. Within the month, he has already gained a reputation for being this for setting up several traps and jumpscares across the server.

The Property Police

    General
The Property Police have taken upon themselves to comment on others' builds and properties and decide if they should be punished. They are also the first members of the server to learn of the Listeners' existence.

They are on good terms with the Grian Empire (at least, after Grian rebuilt their base after their original one was destroyed in a prank gone wrong) and the Taurtis Republic, and are enemies with the Mafia, Dirt Cheap, and Tomohawk.

Others

    The Watchers
IGN: WeTheWatchers

For more information on the Watchers as depicted in post-series supplementary material, see here.

  • Invisibility: To some degree; the clues to the Beta 1.8 portal read, "They watch but cannot be seen."
  • Jerkass Gods: The Watchers are by all means petty, and punishments for slights against them tend to be Disproportionate Retribution.
  • Our Gods Are Different: The Watchers seem to be deity-level beings in the Evo world who may present themselves as feminine-looking stone statues. They tend to be cryptic in the way they communicate with players, other than in the modified End poem in which they announce their recruitment of Grian.
  • Thinking Up Portals: The Watchers can create portals which transport players between the different versions of Minecraft.
  • You Bastard!: Implied. Given the Watchers are later stated to be representations of the viewers, their characterization as Jerkass Gods comes across as this.
