     Reiko Kitamoto
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reiko_kitamoto.png
  • Adaptation Name Change: She's named Ms. Goobers in the Vitello, Phuuz and Dutch dubs, and Yuka in the Funimation dub.
  • Food as Bribe: When Shinnosuke visits her house, she always give him sweets and cakes in exchange for his family's embarrassing moments so she can gossip them.
  • Gossipy Hens: She often gossips about the people around the neighborhood, Misae included.
  • Sorry to Interrupt: Much to the dismay of Misae, she always come at an inappropriate time, giving her something to gossip against them.

     Micchi and Yoshirin Hatogaya

  • Adaptation Name Change: Mitchi is known as Gidgy and Yoshiring is known as Luis in the Vitello, Phuuz and Dutch dubs.
  • Drop-In Character: They're often seen inviting themselves to the Nohara's house, principally to get advice with their marital troubles.
  • Iconic Outfit: Both Micchi and Yoshiring are always shown to be wearing green t-shirts/sweaters with a pink heart in the middle.
  • Otaku: Yoshiring is a fan of magical girls and sim dates while Micchi is obsessed with horror and gory movies.
  • Selfie Fiend: They often force the Nohara to take them a photo after their marital troubles are fixed
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: They're a parody of this trope. Apart from their occasional (and pretty dumb) break-ups, all they do on the series is be lovey-dovey with each other. At least on the original and Spanish dubs.

     Nanako Ohara
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nanako_ohara.png
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: While in the manga she's a brunette, in the anime she has black hair.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: She's currently living with her best friend, Shinobu Kandadori.
  • Helicopter Parents: Nanako's father Shijuro is extremely overprotective of his daughter and often worries too much about her, despite loving her very much. One of the comic stories has Nanako thinking she's being followed by a stalker only to find out that's actually a private investigator Shijuro hired to keep tabs on Nanako; another story had Nanako taking a part-time job at a sushi restaurant, only for Shijuro to spend literally half a day in said restaurant (eating over 100 plates of sushi in a row) to watch his daughter at work.
  • Morality Chain: She's this to Shinnosuke, as he tries to behave himself when she's present.
  • Nice Girl: Established in the first episode she appeared, as she helped Shin-chan.

     Shinobu Kandadori

     Tokuro Gyoda
Ume's late boyfriend, who worked as a traumatologist and fell in love with her after she broke her leg.
  • Adapted Out: His tragic sudden death in the manga hasn't been adapted on the anime yet.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: In the volume 47 of the manga, just as he was to return to Kasukabe he becomes a fatal victim of a terrorist attack in Africa at the hotel he was residing.

Matazuresou

     Nushiyo Ooya
The Landlady of Matazuresou
  • Berserk Button: Noise, especially if it makes her dentures tower fall.
    • Don't break anything on his apartment
  • Cranky Landlord: Towards the Nohara family, as she lives under them and they're the most noisy neighbors of the apartments.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her husband and her 3 years old daughter died tragically 30 years ago prior to the events on the series.
  • The Nose Knows: She can detect if a dog comes inside her apartments.
  • No Animals Allowed: She doesn't let anyone have animals in her apartments, forcing the Noharas to give Shiro to Reiko until their home is repaired.

     Yonroh
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yonroh.png
  • Gonk: He's overweight and has glasses.
  • Hikikomori: Rarely leaves his apartment, unless it's to mooch off the Noharas during meal times.
  • Rōnin: Until the Nohara's arrived, he failed his entrance tests three years in a row.

     Atsuko and Atsumi Kutsuzoko
  • Gyaru Girl: Atsuko is often wearing super short skirts, loose socks, and platform shoes.
  • Teen Pregnancy: When the Nohara's first meet her, she's 18 and her daughter Atsumi is only two years old.
  • When You Coming Home, Dad?: Atsumi's father, Atsushi Kutsuzoko is never seen on the series, due to working as a truck driver.
