II; Day III; The Beginning; Part II

I've mostly been switching back and forth between Robot Alchemic Drive and Ring Of Red.

  • Workout is tiring, but I don't really feel I'm advancing very far; I should improve my technique, spin faster, not longer and all that. Knees seem to be more tired than the rest of me, I may need to readjust my seat, again.

Robot Alchemic Drive
  • Opens by saying that space travel is impossible due to lethal cosmic rays, and thus humanity is resigned to a lonely existence. Presumably, Sci-Fi as a genre never takes off, and instead people read pirate comics.
  • We cut to a BNN newscast; Humongous Mecha invades Rome! Eternal City In Flames!
  • And then quickly zip back to downtown Senjo, where Yui Tsukioka is running late for a shopping date with her friend Nanao Misaki.
  • I Want My Jetpack is apparently not in play, as I proceed to leap onto the second story train platform, and meet up with Nanao, who I keep wanting to call Nanoha, just in time to hear an announcement calling me to the "Trillenium Commission". Spooky.
    • And then another Humongous Mecha teleports in; my character apparently recognizes it, and Nanoa says something about her grandma staying at home, right before the monster vaporizes that whole block.
    • Typical Mad Scientist Dr. Hourai shows up, hands us a bulky PS 2 controller, and is promptly crushed by rubble.
  • We leave Nanao to her sobbing, and head off to the "Civilization Preservation Society" building, where she meets a non-Mad German scientist, and a Bridge Bunny. Looks like it wasn't such a waste now, huh? Who's laughing now? Me, that's what!
  • We press the select button, and the tennis court slides away to reveal a Shining Steel GOD! MAGNIFICENT!
    • Again, you can pick one of three when you start the game. You get the others later. I picked Lagioule.
      • Lagioule; It turns into a Cool Plane, what else do you need to say?
      • Vavel; traditional Super Robot with This Is a Drill Rocket Punch. It has an Volcanic Overdrive mode, and then I believe a...uh, Genocide Overdrive later in the game.
      • Gland; big, heavy, lots of guns, turns into a car.
  • Lagioule, Roll Out!
    • I punch the hell out of the enemy robot, as they teleport away if you use a ranged attack.
  • Victoly! Now if only Nanao would stop whining about how all Humongous Mecha are evil and she doesn't know me because I control it. Someone may be going on the list. I mean, yeah, a Humongous Mecha killed her grandma, but hey, she wasn't a worshipper.

Ring Of Red
  • The game opens with old World War II footage, with Mini-Mecha edited into it. The Alternate History? Japan didn't surrender after the atomic bombs, and the US and USSR invaded; Japan is partitioned, into democratic South, Communist North, and Hokkaido is a Soviet territory (something tells me I'm going there eventually). I wonder what commie Sapporo tastes like?
  • Just like with rocket technology, both sides snatched up German Mini-Mecha scientists. A technology never used much in Europe, for lack of supply and terrain, they seem to be much better suited for Japan. Aircraft are handwaved away by an international ban on aircraft over Asia, for fear of another nuke.
  • We are Masami Von Weizigger, Charlie Dog Test Pilot, testing out...not a Super Prototype. His boss is an ex-Nazi named...uh, Rodriguez, the technical expert from Germany is a hot Aryan chick named Mathilda (also an ex-Nazi), and our overall Commander is a HighClassGlassed ex-Nazi named Schiffen. Our rival Test Pilot is Ryoko Minako.
  • And then North Korean Japanese agents to hijack Unit Three, the actual Super Prototype. We give chase, of course, but the hijacker is Red Baron Kaiho "The Crimson Phantom", apparently freshly returned from Vietnam.

Wow, this kinda reminds me of Gundam0083, though minus the nukes. I think.

FinalFantasyX2
  • Credits song is nice.
  • I'm getting a strong feeling of...crap...YKTTW they've saved the world, but now that don't know what to do? Well, that's what I'm seeing.
  • Which is presumably why Yuna is a...popstar? And apparently Rikku is a terrorist, knocking out guards at a concert.
  • Yuna apparently decided to become a treasure hunting, after seeing a damaged recording of her former lover Tidus imprisoned somewhere. Since Tidus evaporated into a million pieces...this is a matter of some concern
  • And she's cruising around in a Cool Airship, looking for more recordings. Yeah, that's right, you start with the Global Airship. Finally. Too bad she lost all her levels since the last game.
