openBurn The Witch wmg page
I'm thinking of creating a wmg page for the new Tite Kubo manga,Burn The Witch. I have some theories to put on this page, anyone interested?
openSuper Mario Bros. movie stuff Film
MrStranger616 and tropeminer have been adding questionable stuff to the Super Mario Bros movie page. I sent a notifier on natter, but for Iggy, his characterization as a genius was mainly from the Nintendo Adventure Books, and his heavily-armed mech from Yoshi's Safari came after the movie—in SMB 3 he was the fourth boss with no particular gimmicks, in Super Mario World he was an easy first boss described as 'demented', in the cartoons made before the movie came out Ludwig was the crazed genius, not Iggy, and while more modern Mario games have had Iggy be more mechanically inclined that wasn't until way after 1993. I had deleted it once citing these reasons but they added it back, and the Repetitive Name entry was originally pretty short and to-the-point.
(Also movie Iggy does get smarter when koopa evolves his brain.)
"* Adaptational Dumbass: A character named "Iggy" (no doubt based on Iggy Koopa from Super Mario Bros.3) appears among Koopa's minions. However, instead of being an Evil Genius, like his game counterpart, he's a bumbling doofus."
"* Repetitive Name: While his brother's full name is Liugi Mario, Mario's full name actually is Mario Mario. They are the Mario brothers after all indicating that's their surname. However, Mario is always addressed as just "Mario" as if it were also his first name. That would be like if your sibling always called you by your last name which would be kind of odd since its their's as well. And while it seems silly, can you imagine him with any other first name?"
Edited by lalalei2001openLoganIs17in2020
I told you all that Logan Is17in 2020 and Super Group 2013 are the exact same person, and no one listened to me. They made this [https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Synopsis/ElinorWondersWhy page] which is a namespace misuse and has the fake episode. Permaban them for ban evasion and false info.
openGreat Muppet Caper Baseball finale Film
I'm looking for a trope for the climax of the Great Muppet Caper, where the Muppets and thieves suddenly go into an impromptu game of baseball for a valuable diamond. Any ideas?
openOrdering examples in Sequel gap
Just a couple of questions. First, it states "If your example describes multiple sequel gaps within the same series/franchise, add it on top of the folder." What does that exactly mean? Add franchises with multiple sequel gaps to the top regardless of the order of all examples?
Second, it looks like there needs to be come cleanup, especially in the video game section, with it looking like examples are partly alphabetical and partly by the number of years.
open Tropers challenging/calling out bombs on TLP
Am I the only one who feels War Jay 77 and Divine Flame 100 seem to be making an attempt to style themselves as defenders of bombed proposals, and calling out people who drop bombs, even if they leave a reply explaining why? Sure, drive-by bombings are an issue, but they're accusing a troper of ranting in their reply on Yo Yo Entanglement, when I didn't see any sign of ranting at all in that troper's reply, said troper was bringing valid issues. Is this just me?
Edited by Traveler123openSpoiler Image on Moment Page Film
On the Heartwarming page for Despicable Me 2, the page image is hidden by a spoiler warning. Considering Moment pages are Spoilers Off, is this allowed?
Edited by HMSquaredopen Page image with no linked source.
The page image for Small Girl, Big Gun has no work source linked to it. Judging by the art style and the quality of the render, I'm guessing it belongs to a Visual Novel of some sort? If it does, what work is that specifically? And does it even have a page to begin with?
If the page image is an original piece of artwork, was it ever given permission from the original artist?
Edited by DivineFlame100openRockPaperScissors in TacticalRockPaperScissors
Continuing from the previous trs here and failed tlp here, Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors apparantly does not seem to have to be cyclical like Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors, despite the description being written and examples as such. Does it mean it's sufferings from Trope-Namer Syndrome, or has it been expanded where there are more ways to balance the system?
Edited by Kindle4LightopenForum thread names
Can you change the name of a forum thread? I've seen some threads that apparently had their names changed (for example, the Memetic cleanup thread lists in its title which trope they are currently on), but I'm not sure how to do it.
openClash of Artsyles
A work that, for whatever reason, uses many different artsyles for its characters.
A good example is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In here you have cartoony-looking characters from Super Mario Bros., Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Kirby and Earthbound. Animesque characters from Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Pokémon, Persona 5 and Xenoblade. Realistic-looking characters from Castlevania, Street Fighter and Metal Gear. Just to name a few.
Edited by BassikunopenHollywoodExorcism clarification
The trope seems to be used as a catch-all for all exorcisms in media. Presumably irrespective of the circumstances on how someone in a work ends up demonically possessed, what would differentiate a Hollywood Exorcism under the conditions of the trope versus a theologically accurate ritual (n.b.: the scene in The Exorcist plays out largely as it would in reality, except the texts they recite are paraphrased from what would appear verbatim in the Rituale, and also abridged for time - the direct mention of the reluctance of the Catholic Church to perform an exorcism notwithstanding).
openPublished edit wasn't actually saved, and doesn't appear in the history.
I think I had run into an issue while editing LightNovel.Wandering Witch The Journey Of Elaina.
While I added some tropes there, I saw some overlooked grammar issue from my previous edit so I immediately edited the page again. It took quite a while for my new revision since I also added more stuff in the process. Although the 20-minute edit lock had expired, I still published it. However, the stuff that I edited wasn't saved and they don't appear in the history anymore.
This is the first time I experienced this. Was it possible for edits to get completely lost or overwritten without history when someone else edits the page while your own edit lock expired? Or is this a new bug?
Edited by DanteVinopenPotholing Works Titles to Titular Characters' Names
Despite me trying to explain it to him twice over private messages, including with a link to the policy page Administrivia.Sinkhole, the troper ~@Brady 13 still doesn't understand what's so wrong about changing
to
on the Underwear Flag page.
Edited by Miss_Desperadoopen Dodgy Time Stamp TRS discussion
There is currently a TRS thread for the Dodgy Time Stamp trope with an active crowner. If you wish to vote on the crowner or otherwise contribute, now is your chance.
Please do not reply to this thread. This is an effort to draw attention to a discussion thread.
openHow to fix custom WikiWords not showing?
Pull The Trigger Provocation doesn't show with the custom title when used on other pages. How can this be corrected?
open I trying to find that trope
I wanna see a trope where the camera is focusing on a character and the camera moves in 360 degrees, Showing the chaos going on in the background.
for example, In Shrek 4, The Camera is on Shrek and it spins before he roars.
openPoor grammar in Headscratchers
There's this troper who keeps posting poor-grammar entry in the Headscratchers pages. (They don't post at all, barely, in the regular work pages.) Is that report-worthy, since it's just in Headscratchers and all?
EDIT: Here are some examples, as requested.
Edited by MichaelKatsuroopen Name of a trope
What's the trope name for when a work has a Show Within a Show that's an expy of a real life existing work?
Do we have a policy against "This work will fail"-type WMGs? There were single examples that were removed, but I'm not sure if that's a go-ahead to remove all such entries on sight.
