openShould we list former GameBreaker examples? Videogame
Should we list former examples that, due to nerf/buffs, are no longer the case?
Former Low-Tier Letdown examples can be listed under Rescued from the Scrappy Heap, but I don't know the equivalent for Game-Breaker (intentional or not).
Clarifying EDIT: I asked this because 2.5 months ago, someone added a game-breaking bug to Team Fortress 2 that was patched in 2008.

Acclaimed Flop says no examples until the work's initial run has finished. What does this mean for a Video game that released in complete form on day one?
Edited by GoldenDarknessopenCondemned By History entry Live Action TV
A few hours ago Tropiarz added this Condemned by History entry to the YMMV page for Lost:
- As innovative as it was when it came out, Lost is also the face of everything wrong with the mid-to-late 00s TV series - the infamous "mystery box" model of unsustainable, Writing by the Seat of Your Pants shows that just kept piling more and more nonsensical puzzles for the audience to follow without any actual goal in mind other than "keep ratings high". Not only is the series guilty of all the issues this style of writing and show-running entails, but it spawned dozens of sub-par copycats that absolutely flooded the market, coming up with more and more ridiculous starting points for their big "mysteries" that never meant anything at all, either burning out without any conclusion or starting to suffer from extreme cases of The Chris Carter Effect - with Lost falling victim to that already by the end of season 3 out of 6. It is also guilty of introducing and popularising such hated things as: the marketing gimmick of "half-seasons" done for the sake of artificially extending the life of a single season, relying on Character Death for shock value, absolutely massive casts that end up working against the show due to lack of focus and even souring flashbacks for generations to come, as they became a by-word for "padding" in the same way as Engaging Chevrons. It's hard to comprehend how many despised practices hail back to this show as either origin or at least propagator and populariser.
I'm not sure this counts because it doesn't make an argument that the show is now viewed negatively, it's just listing a number of things people disliked about it and is also complaining about other shows doing those things.
Edited by Javertshark13openHoping for weigh-in on the Alpha Centauri YMMV page. Videogame
On the Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri page, I wrote an entry under Memetic Loser, since before I was a fan of the game I was aware of a particular character by reputation because of the relevant memes about him. It needed some work, bluntly, but in the day between my posting it and my deciding to work on it, someone else had deleted it.
I didn't like their edit reason but they've responded on the Discussion page. I frankly don't find their arguments particularly persuasive, and they don't seem particularly interested in the relative merits of contrary opinions, but they've sufficiently convinced me that their opinion is passionate enough that I'm unlikely to change their mind.
I would appreciate if anyone familiar with the source material and community could weigh in? If overwhelming consensus is in their favor I'll abide by the will of the voters, but I question whether or not it is.
(Also, they've been just a bit rude and aggressive throughout, but I don't want them to get in trouble or anything. I'm just being clear about why I don't feel the need to try to convince them of anything through reasoned argument.)
resolved Change of plans: wishing to Launch Peter and Company 1998 Webcomic
After speaking with BoltDMC on the matter, and Amonimus prior to that briefly, I think that my current page is ready enough for it to launch and given that Work Pages Are a Free Launch this was all optional to begin with, but I wanted to make sure that there was atleast some supervision given what a sensitive topic it was.
Do I have the permission of both the community and staff to go through with posting this page? Or do I still have to wait for the hats given that I already made a proposal for it in TLP? Either way, it's fine, I just wish to know if I can bypass the hat system given this is a webcomic page inspite of running it through TLP.

Edited by Travis4205resolved Transference/Implementation of Appearance folders Print Comic
As dictated by an earlier ATT entry, appearance bars have been culled from character pages that are known to have them. I'd like to propose that instead of culling them full-stop, they get changed into collapsible appearance folders since the original issue was that they cluttered up the page as well as the fact that most other character pages seem to already have appearance folders anyway. The following is an example that's already implemented on a few pages (not by me, they were already present before this proposal)
- XXX Vol 1 #Y-WZ
- XXX Vol 1 #Z-XZZ
- YYY Vol 2 #YY-ZZZ
openCharacters page for Warcraft NPC species? Videogame
Wondering if it'd be reasonable to create a Characters page for NPC species in the Warcraft franchise. We of course already have pages for the playable factions, but the franchise has a number of species introduced at every expansion with their own themes, story beats and quirks. It would inevitably be a rather big page (probably big enough to be split in some way; something to think about if we decide to do it), but we honestly have similarly large pages for NPC's in other fantasy franchises (see the NPC pages for Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder, for example), so I don't think extent alone should be seen as a reason NOT do to it.
Should we do it, we'd also have to think about maybe reworking some already-existing pages; the page for Pandaria, for instance, alredy brings some entries on NPC races introduced in the Mists of Pandaria expansion. Those entries should maybe be moved.
Alternatively, we could create individual pages for characters introduced in each expansion, listing significant NPC's and having entries for the species there instead. "Big" characters (i.e. cosmic entities) could be kept separate, as they already are, but we add entries for every new species on their corresponding expansion page.

openProposal for Addition to 'Films: Animated' entry of 'Walk Into Mordor' Film
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't 'Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse' fit in the 'Films: Animated' entry? I distinctly remember one scene where the spiderpeople were on the roof of the building where Kingpin's ball (and device) was, and then Noir says, "It can't be that easy," in regards to the others plan of sneaking in as is due to the Spiderman theme of the ball (Because of the original peter's death) and then there's a Gilligan Cut (?) to Noir saying 'It really is that easy.'
openEdit war on Fallout 2024's Trivia page.
On May 14th, troper Doctor Detective removed this entry Fallout (2024)'s trivia page with the edit reason "None of that requires that the creators lied, given the time between the games and the show, and how all of the games' endings are actually rather open-ended in terms of what happens next."
- Lying Creator: Part of the creators' insistence that the show would be a canon entry in the franchise in the leadup to release included assurance that the show would not engage in any Cutting Off the Branches for previous entries. Despite this, the show's very first episode featured an appearance by the Prydwen from Fallout 4 intact and still operational in the Brotherhood's service, with reference made to members of the organization still operating within the Commonwealth. Due to the Institute and Railroad endings requiring destroying the Prydwen, this leaves only the Brotherhood and Minutemen endings plausible and invalidating half of the game's potential endings. Additionally, The Stinger for the Season 1 finale indicates the show will showcase the now run-down city of New Vegas heavily in the second season, which by its nature will require either choosing a specific ending to Fallout: New Vegas as canon or rendering the player's choice of ending irrelevant somehow.
The edit reason made me raise an eyebrow, considering it appears cut and dry when it comes to the Prydwen being intact contradicting the Cutting Off the Branches claim, so I restored it on May 17th with the edit reason "Main page doesn't mention any requirements. If the creator lied about something, even if something is "open-ended", then it qualifies."
The next day, Doctor Detective removed the entry again with the edit reason "The requirement is that the creator lied about something. They didn't. Viewers are speculating about what must have happened, based on partial information. Retcons, added information, and nine years of additional story without direct reference to or confirmation of what happened in previous installations do not constitute lies. Everything about this entry belongs I the WMG page."
Regardless of his reasoning for it, it's an edit war now.

resolved Does Mystique counts as DracoInLeatherPants Print Comic
Hey guys, a while ago I added X-Men’s Mystique to the Draco in Leather Pants Marvel page of villains who are beloved and forgiven by fans despite their heinous crimes.
Troper Cylon took issue with this as they don’t consider Mystique an abusive mother or sadistic villain even though she has had decades of written to be just that. They removed the example, I put it back, they removed it again. Que the ensuing arguments where even where I provided evidence Cylon would either ignore it or tried justify it or claim it’s bad writing that Mystique was written that way.
I believe same as Magneto, Mystique definitely counts for the trope. What do you guys think?
Edited by Yellow20openParameters of EvenTheGuysWantHim
There's an instance where Even the Guys Want Him is being used to describe just "bi guy has a male crush". I don't think that specific instance is a trope; I think it's a banal, chair-type event. I thought Even the Guys Want Him was when mostly-straight Al remarks on Bob's hotness and this is narratively used as a way to convey how unusually, remarkably hot Bob is. The person who added it is arguing no, the "bi guy has a normal crush" example is within the scope of Even the Guys Want Him as defined on the page.
So 2 questions:
- Does "bi guy has a normal crush" qualify as Even the Guys Want Him?
- If so, is Even the Guys Want Him even tropeworthy?
resolved Is DefectiveDetective jhonsogflint ban evading again?
I'm suspicious about Defective Detective, who only has activity since May 19th. They have the same editing patterns as jhonsogflint, who was discovered in a previous ATT to be a ban evader. Defective Detective often edits and crosswicks on Scarface (1983) just like jhonsogflint used to do. And they are currently adopting and posting TLP drafts about languages: 1, 2. That's the same fixation jhonsogflint had, with many sandboxes about language tropes.
Please check if Defective Detective is a sock.

openIs It Ok To Add "The Smoke Room" Work On The Wiki Videogame
I was planing on adding an article for "The Smoke Room" (a visual novel) to the wiki in the near future, but the redlink said that it was cut do to it being added by a ban evader. Is it ok to add again? Im pretty sure it is due to it being an actual work and a prequel to another work with a page on this site, but im asking to be sure since the page said i should do that
I found two examples in YMMV page for The Gifted (2014) where two example indentation is probably used wrongly.
How do I fix it?
