There's also a Condemned by History cleanup thread if you're interested.

In this particular case, I'd contend that while the criticisms for it being Condemned by History are largely accurate, but at the same time it fell into either being forgotten or fondly remembered by those who think it's wild it was completely forgotten.

Franchise Original Sin might be a better choice. It would need expansion to get into why it was originally beloved though.

Nah Lost doesnt count. People still look back on it fondly now.

I concur. While reactions on the ending are definitely mixed. Its still quite loved and enjoyed so not really...condemned

i am going to dissent and say that though lost still gets some fond love, it also warrants mockery in the same breath and i have seen the criticism in the OP echo — it does sound complain-y but these were contemporary criticisms that still happen now

It can't be CBH if the majority (or rather, everyone who knows of it) haven't turned against it, though. That's the definition. If there are people who still genuinely love it, it was never condemned in the way the trope requires.

Again, 's why I think a similar entry under Franchise Original Sin might work better, reworked to talk more about why it was once beloved and then discussing why its various successor-states were viewed negatively. (And I speak as a Lost hater who tried and failed to come up with a very similar entry criticizing J. J. Abrams's general body of work.)

I thought this example already came up on the cleanup thread and we decided that it didn't count.

Yeah its a month old example that was already dealt with, i believe. Best to lock the thread.
