Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

on America Saves the Day, America's Army is referenced using the ptitle markup, can you change it to VideoGame/AmericasArmy so that it points to the right page?

All Blue Entry still unaccounted for: Elton John and The Princess Bride to Music/EltonJohn and Film/ThePrincessBride respectively

For Let's Play, Battletoads still needs a VideoGame/ namespace.

That's all I have to say for this moment.

I now go by Graf von Tirol.

Why not put up the Complete Monster characters in Silent Hill series? Only example I saw is Dahlia Gillepsie. Put the other examples: Judge Holloway from Silent Hill Homecoming and Officer Sewell from Silent Hill Downpour.

Please discuss Complete Monster entries in the appropriate thread. Only when you have general agreement should you post here to get them added. Include a link to the post where the decision was made.

Sexy Back has been renamed and split. In Sideboob

  • Bleach: Yoruichi's suit during her fight with Soifon sports this along with Sexy Back. Not to mention Kuukaku's outfit.

Can we change that to

  • Bleach: Yoruichi's backless suit during her fight with Soifon sports this. Not to mention Kuukaku's outfit.

You can do it yourself - see How To Create A Works Page. The only thing you need here is to get him/her indexed on Let's Play - which can happen before or after you make the page.

I'm requesting an edit for Justin Bieber (note: I'm not a fan, but a Wiki Walk from the Youtube Memes article brought me there): the article has an entry for Dude Looks Like a Lady that mentions Self-Deprecation being present among the listed tropes, but that's not true - there is no Self Deprecation entry. This may puzzle people who browse his article.

Thanks in advance.

I'm from Piedmont. No relation with Piedmon, mind you!

Can Template Page For New Fandom Recommendations be added to the locked pages please? It is just a template page for people to copy from the source code, but I've just had to clean it up from when someone was copy'pasting info from it by using the "edit" button instead of "source" and got confused and pasted stuff from a specific recs page into it; so mucking up the template. Can it be edit locked please so it doesn't happen again?

It's been a while since I checked this thread, but here's suggested additions to Pædo Hunt written into examples as requested:

Anime & Manga:

  • Kodomo No Jikan deals with Renji suspecting Aoki of paedophilia and Aoki suspecting the same of Renji.

Comic Books:

  • Though it was only revealed retroactively, the seduction of Gwen Stacy by Norman Osborn may qualify. While there was no hunt on him for that reason, it did stir up the hate for him.

Film:

  • The original Nightmare On Elm Street was vague about the subject, but The Remake gives Freddy a clear element of paedophilia, and thus this trope plays into the parents hunting him down.
  • Little Children involves a convicted sex offender being released from prison and moving into a neighbourhood. This is soon followed by one of the other locals spreading warning posters, vandalizing his house and directly assaulting him.
  • O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill kills the man responsible for the death of her parents at age eleven. Because he was a paedophile, she managed to get into his bedroom alone with him for the killing.

Literature:

  • Acid Row has the premise of a social worker is visiting the house of a convicted sex offender in a lower-class neighborhood when a child comes up missing. The actual offender is harmless and ineffectual, his father is the dangerous one, and an innocent neighbor is more or less torn apart by the mob.
  • In Batman: The Ultimate Evil, Bruce Wayne discovers that his mother had investigated child molesters and child pornography as a social worker. The book revolves around him going after the same group his mother had found out about, who are now organizing sex tourism to a thinly veiled Thailand stand-in.

Live-Action TV:

  • CSI episode "Harvest" used this trope. A 12-year old girl is reported missing and later found dead. There seems to be evidence implicating a convicted paedophile in the region. In reality, the girl's family were covering up her death, and they used an internet watchdog site that lists the locations of such people to look up the closest one to implicate.
  • In Dexter the titular Serial-Killer Killer makes an exception to his "only kill killers" rule in order to kill a paedophile who is targeting his step-daughter, Astor.
  • A more literal application of the trope happens in one episode of Without A Trace. A young looking woman poses as underage bait, a fledging, wheelchair bound unofficial cop (an accident prevented him from getting a badge), and a cameraman (who was later revealed to have been raped during a home invasion when he was 12) set up a sting operation to catch paedophiles, a la To Catch A Predator. Unlike the Chris Hanson manned operation, this version is more vigilante based and not exactly full proof to prevent people from escaping, which one guy managed to do. The cop goes after him, and gives him a "Reason You Suck" Speech, which drove the pedophile to shoot himself with the cop's gun. To make things even better, when the cameraman realized the cop was about to tell the police about what happened, he tried to kill him to shut up, though was unsuccessful. By episode's end, the cop survived the assault but by killing the cameraman.

Video Games:

  • The in-game internet in Grand Theft Auto IV includes a Schmuck Bait website titled "Lil' Lacey's Birthday Surprise." Visiting it immediately grants the player a 4-star wanted level.

On a completely different trope, I noticed this mentioned in the discussion for Streisand Effect, which seems a valid example of the trope:

Literature:

  • The Satanic Verses was selling only a few hundred copies a week until the fatwa was declared against Salman Rushdie for the content of the book. Afterwards, it became so popular that it sold five times more copies than the #2 best-seller at the time. It's still the publisher's best-selling book of all time.

As far as I can ascertain, Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking and Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick are inverses of one another. Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick notes the relationship, but Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking does not, and is presently locked. Could somebody note the relationship on that page for me, please?
