This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:
- creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
- moving discussion pages
- moving reviews
Please keep the following guidelines in mind:
- Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
- Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
- If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
- We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
- If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
- If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
- To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
- Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
- Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
- Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

Also on Irate Gamer, there's a serious misuse of I Am Not Shazam. Please remove all the examples that are just "he said the name for X wrong" rather than the actual trope. Like so:
- I Am Not Shazam:
- He refers to Pit as Kid Icarus during the Super Smash Bros Brawl review, even when the game itself announces Pit's name.
- When talking about Gyromite in his R.O.B. video, he keeps calling the main character, Professor Hector, "Professor Gyro".
- In the MUSCLE review, the original cartoon that the game was based on was called Kinnikuman (translates into Muscleman) after the main character, not MUSCLE as he claims.
- Tony is often referred to his catchphrase "Bang-A-Lang".
Incidentally, I changed the past tense to the present tense while editing that. Do we have a rule on which we prefer?

Speaking of the Irate Gamer page: could SuperMarioWorld be changed to VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld?
Looks like Camacan got all that.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"To be specific, it's in the Bleach example in the first Anime and Manga folder.
Done. I find it hilarious that the page image for The Chick is not an example.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hey, would you want to replace it with C-3PO? I doubt he would have as much appeal than Princess Leia and her buns.
And why are the Five-Man Band pages locked again?
People were edit warring the descriptions.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickOn YMMV.Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt, there's a Missed Moment of Awesome link that needs to be changed to Offscreen Moment of Awesome. The second bullet point needs to be deleted entirely since the trope isn't about moments not being sufficiently cool or long enough or whatever.
Why exactly is Offscreen Moment of Awesome YMMV anyway? The old name may have sounded like a subjective trope, but it really isn't.
I didn't know there was any edit warring outside of The Chick.

It's just about when something is built up to and never shown. Not subjective at all.
edited 2nd Aug '11 11:37:49 PM by nuclearneo577
There's been some debate on whether it should be subjective or not, probably because it has the word "awesome" in it. For the record, I tend to think it's non-YMMV myself, and it's not on the index at the moment.
But I kinda put "move all OMOA moments to the main page from YMMV" on the backburner for "get rid of all MMOA" links of which there were over 1300, so I forgot.

The problem is, even if it's not shown and mentioned, people won't agree that the thing that happened offscreen is automatically awesome. Unless we're going with it's only awesome in-universe, then it's not subjective. But only under that exact definition does it work.
Quest 64 threadThe "awesome" part is just bad snowcloning. The trope really has nothing to do with Moment Of Awesome. What nuclearneo described is the important part - an event that's been built up to (or any major event, I thought) occurs offscreen or is otherwise not shown. Awesomeness, or lack thereof, isn't important to the trope.

Ah, good point. And yeah, it's not even subjective on the main page itself.(of the trope) Remove the YMMV examples and put them on the main page, where they belong. Unless there's a TRS thread about it. Then perhaps wait.
Quest 64 threadWe've had an ongoing TRS about this and I'm only going to do something once the matter is settled. This isn't the thread to debate it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"More minor changes for the Irate Gamer page:
DrMario -> VideoGame/DrMario
MarioIsMissing -> VideoGame/MarioIsMissing
SuperMarioWorld -> VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld
Have a request for something to be removed from the Übermensch page:
There's a line that says "Compare: Nietzsche Wannabe, The Sociopath, The Social Darwinist, Magnificent Bastard, Dark Messiah, Villain Sue, What Is Evil??, Above Good and Evil, Well-Intentioned Extremist, Compelling Voice, Insane Admiral, Complete Monster, The Antichrist.
I don't think that Villain Sue, Compelling Voice, Insane Admiral, or Complete Monster have any inherent similarity to Übermensch that makes them grounds for comparison- they just seem like randomly chosen tropes.
I'm also a bit conflicted about The Sociopath and What Is Evil? being there, but I can kind of understand those.

HodorThanks.
HodorFor the Übermensch page, some examples do not link to the relevant work page. I have noticed this for
- The Authority
- Crime And Punishment
- Foundation
- Grendel
- Malazan Book Of The Fallen
- The Vampire Chronicles
- Forgotten Realms
- Fable
- Tales Of Symphonia Dawn Of The New World
Hello !
I would like to make a little ad in the trope The Chick if possible:
in literature -> Hermione from Harry Potter. Even though it's actually not a Five-man band, she is THE girl of the saga, the best friend that keeps the two guys on the good way when things are getting darker than usual. She is smart, powerful; she acts sometimes like a mother when she slaps some sanity on Harry and Ron and she is the emotional vector of the group that makes the two others understand things they would not have understood without her. In fact, she really is the heart of the group - as well as The Smart Guy -, when Harry is the hero and Ronald the Deadpan Snarker.

On the America Saves the Day and Inheritance Cycle pages, can DoctorWho be changed to Series/DoctorWho?
