Seems good, not sure if we need more options.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I wouldn't add the last option. It's really an ancillary task.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanFair enough. I wasn't sure about it either.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo far, one option has consensus, but for such a massive trope I'd like more votes. Anyone want to go to ATT?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessTo me, this passage from the description implies that the fandom-specific version is already part of the definition:
That sounds more like it's setting up for tropes like Memetic Badass and Memetic Psychopath, which...come to think of it, is entirely about fandom portrayal...but yeah. It doesn't seem to use the same definition of "Meme" that the general "Fandom Injoke" usage does, so I'm not sure if it's actually allowing Fandom Injoke examples or not.
Even then, sometimes descriptions can have misleading or inaccurate lines that don't actually reflect the definition. Moral Event Horizon once claimed that redeemed characters can count, for example.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessHeck, the MacGuffin description once said that a MacGuffin can be used for something, despite not being used being the whole point of the trope!
It looks like expanding the trope to allow for fandom in-jokes is going to win. If that happens, I recommend splitting example subpages between actual memes and injokes, like how Have a Gay Old Time is split between straight and intentional examples.
Ukrainian Red CrossI downvoted having a subtrope for fandom memes, since it is very hard to consider what counts as popular or not. Emphasis on popular.

Come play Character Uplift Game! Can I say Memetic Mutation as a trope has evolved itself?
Given that as I'm into memes that are exclusive to the Furry Fandom and a bit into the Brony Fandom on Derpibooru. I'm into the splitting it to Fandom Meme. Pretty sure some inside memes can also become mainstream memes.
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔Looks like we are allowing fandom injokes. Calling.
Time to expand the description.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportCouldn't you say that about any YMMV item about fandom consensus? We ran into a similar issue with Fan-Preferred Couple, and I'll reiterate my stance from that thread: if it's clearly an example, it won't be hard at all to find evidence that it's popular. (I.E. more than one person making the same joke)
(Honestly the on-page examples for Stock Parody Jokes are the ones that I don't always trust to be actual popular jokes, as most of them lack explanations of which parodies even used the jokes, but that's something for another thread)

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Alright, if we're expanding, we probably need to revamp the description, but I don't think much more work is needed beyond that.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThat's done. Anyone's got an opinion on the new description?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSeems solid.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAnyone else?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe folder for "Specific types of memes, tropes related to memes, and specific memes with their own pages" needs a machete. It's a weird mixture of memes, tropes, injokes, and Internet works. I'd like to rewrite it like this:
- Ascended Meme: A meme becomes officially part of the work it is derived from.
- Beam Me Up, Scotty!: A popular misquote which distorts what the original person/character actually stated.
- Discredited Meme: When a tired old joke or meme stops being funny.
- Fan Nickname: A nickname that fans of a work give to one of the characters.
- Forced Meme: An obvious attempt to create a new meme falls flat.
- Fountain of Memes: A character who tends to inspire memes.
- The Internet Is for Cats

- Memetic Molester: A fictional character is interpreted on the Internet as some kind of sexual predator due to statements, mannerisms, and actions that can be seen as creepy and perverse.
- Memetic Psychopath: A nice character or ineffectual villain is interpreted on the Internet as an insanely violent jerk due to a Jerkass Ball moment.
- Memetic Troll
- Pop Culture Urban Legend
- Stock Parody Jokes
- Stupid Statement Dance Mix
- Trope: All tropes are memes, but obviously we're not going to list every one here.

- Virgin Vs Chad: A comparison meme in which two characters, the "Virgin" (a pathetic wimp) is contrasted with the "Chad" (a cool badass), with the Virgin and Chad being used to represent many different people or concepts.
- Rickroll: The music video for Rick Astley's song "Never Gonna Give You Up" was often used to troll people through misleading links.

- Angry Marine's Ruby Quest
- Catchphrase: A quotation that a fictional character is famous for frequently saying.

I'm fine with splitting the meme tropes from the JFF, Useful Notes, etc.
Should we address those other Meme tropes here?
Maybe we can move a batch of them to another thread at some point, like the Wiki Tropes thread currently open. But for now, I'm not sure there's much we can do without totally derailing this one.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSo, about that description...
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanClocking this. If no further comments come within the clock expiry time, I'll close this as "completed".
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSomething can be done; I'm just not sure what should be done.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Like I said, I'd rather tackle those in a batch than leave this thread up much longer, since we've succeeded in the goal of this discussion.

Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
So, how do these crowner options look?
- Expand to allow for "Fandom Injoke" examples
- Split between the current intended usage, and a trope for Fandom Injokes.
- Merge the Fandom Injoke usage into Stock Parody Jokes.
- Create a definition-only page for Meme (not mutually exclusive with any other option)
