I've always been scared by atmospheric horror. What I mean is the type of thing found with Giygas. Dark backgrounds and creepy dialogue can get to me. Not easily, as I don't get scared that often anymore, but it can.
"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"The old Jumpscare does it for me. But when it's overused (as seems to be the trend in more recent movie fare) it diminishes the impact.
This Space Intentionally Left Blank.Eye Scream is the worst. The worst. Even when it's Played for Laughs it terrifies me and makes me cringe too hard. Heck, I've never even glanced at its trope page, that's how much I hate it.
"Don't cry because it's over, cry because it happened."The part where anyone is scared by it.
Psychological Horror IMO. Stuff like insanity, despair and general terror.
Also being Not So Different from your enemies, especially if they are incredibly vile or completely bonkers. Just people doing terrible things to each other.
Also And I Must Scream / other fates worse than death, for example being brainwashed.
...Why should any of it scare you? It's totally fictional and will literally never happen to you or anyone you know.
Twentington be quiet and let them have their fun
Honestly I'm pretty hard to scare, unless it's jump scares,
New theme music also a boxJump scares aren't a "thing to dread" scary. Like they'll startle the crap out of me and then I'll start laughing. I don't really like them but I end up finding them hilarious after the fact.
As for actually scary stuff, the more "realistic" it is the scarier it is. Like stuff that's based on actual serial killers or something.
Stupid doomed timeline...Psychological horror all the way. Or atmospheric, although they kinda fall into the same category.
Most dorks are awesome, I'm an exception.Whenever I'm subjected to a jumpscare, I find myself startled, then annoyed. I see nothing humorous about them at all. (I also hate pranks and practical jokes.)
This Space Intentionally Left Blank.Anything revolving around being buried alive. That's my worst phobia by far, I can't even watch The Mummy because of the opening scene.
Outside of that;
Gorn - Because ew. I don't mind violence or blood-thirsty movies, but when the movie revels in the gore with close-ups, or over-the-top things...no, just no.
Eyes - Related to that, eye things can just go away too.
Which makes me wonder why Event Horizon (Otherwise known as 101 Things Not To Do With Your Eyes) is one of my favourite movies ever.
"Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen."Well when I was reading the "Hot Zone" all the symptoms of Ebola Zaire and Margburg scared the heck out of me because I visualized it in my mind and to know that this is nonfiction and very much real. Now I say that is pure body horror.
HiI'm particularly bothered by Fingore. I can't stand the idea of people's nails getting pulled out or damaged.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyVery true I even have a real life story about that.
HiSame here. Mine happened when I was in 7th grade, but I'll just spare the details.

The Superstar of the Supernatural World! (debatable)The psychological aspect, or the plot twist where it's not the incredibly creepy loner who's the murderer.
It's the average person who goes out of his way to be kind, or the person who acts like a normal human being.
I've kinda gotten over it, but dental horror still squicks me out to a large degree.
The fountain of sequels and spinoffs they tend to spawn.
"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"
I'm always most freaked out by creepy, atmospheric, psychological types of horror. (Or when a story is at that stage.) That unbearable suspense as tension keeps increasing, and the monster/killer/whatever remains unseen off screen. Actually seeing what causing things usually lessens the fear.
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |I'd got to admit that a scene in blindspot where shepherd tried to get some info from Jane by puncture her eardrum with a needle is the most scariest thing.
HiThe idiocy of the characters makes me scared for humanity's future.
Where there's life, there's hope.Indeed because due to hot headed morons in this world today will lead to a fall of the humankind.
Hi
I don't know if this is a thing yet, but...Why not?
Personally, I think transformation horror is the one that scares me the most (as with some body horror subtropes). I mean, if it's described in text it's a bit more lighter, but visually, that's creepy. I remember watching a horror movie anthology segment about a monk that decided to keep some demon-banishing offerings for himself, and because of that, turned into one of the demons themselves. The transformation scene was in his POV, which made it even worse.
