Inspired by this thread, I've noticed that this wiki doesn't have a dedicated cleanup thread for negativity.
As we all know, Complaining About Shows You Don't Like, Creator Bashing and other negativity isn't desired on the wiki, except in a few selected areas like reviews and several Darth Wiki pages (and even then, with limitations). And yet, it's one of the most common sins wiki contributors can make.
So, if you find a page, TLP or discussion whose content seems like a straight-up insult or any other bitching - including complainy soapboxing -, you might ask here for help with removing said content.
The sandbox for this project is located at Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining.

So does anyone think the Fremantle Media page needs some help. It sounds very negative.
Fandom Berserk Button has been a problem for a long time. The entire examples section is a mess of complaining about stuff people don't like or complaining about fans not liking something, and has a very petulant, melodramatic tone to it that makes it as irksome to read as Discontinuity and They Just Didn't Care used to be. It's also hard to tell which examples are genuine and which are simply tropers imposing their opinion on everyone, especially since a lot of examples touch on controversial Broken Base topics in the fandom.
Seconded emphatically.
Could we maybe neutralize it (or possibly work bits into their own Useful Notes pages)? The Food and Drink section in particular could be turned into Food Culture or something like that (Gourmet Culture?). There are works (like No Reservations for example) that deal with gourmet culture as at least a B plot. Or would that attract some passive-aggressive BS from foodie geeks? I honestly want to know.

I think that the They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character attracts complaining as well. I believe the trope is about characters not getting enough screen time they deserve. Most examples are about characters that do get screen time, but aren't written the way fans like.
Should this example from Tomb Raider (2018) be allowed on the page, considering the movie hasn't even been released yet:
- Video Game Movies Suck: While the movie was barely confirmed to be in production, it already managed to gain notoriety for being yet another Darker and Edgier video-game movie that wants to be taken serious, despite over-the-top content. Just about any internet discussion about it is full of comments condescending toward the concept of making direct game adaptation, the "edgieness" of the material and the inevitable toning of the content (direct adaptation of TR'13 would be rated not just R, but X). This sentiment is almost entirely based on one other recent game adaptation which had mixed-to-bad reception from both critics, fans and common audiences for the attempt to be at the same time "serious" and "gamey".
Given that it's based on nothing but speculation, even not being that familiar with the games or the movies I'd not exactly be saddened by taking a bit of judicious trimming.
You know, something subtle like this:
All your safe space are belong to Trump
...can we please make "complaining about something that has next to no information and doesn't come out for a year" formally against the rules? Please?
Complaints about trailers can be valid, but only in YMMV.
Oissu!Anime News Network has 3/4ths of a stupidly long paragraph that seems to be rather bashing of the site, all of which was added by one user.
"A buddy is a buddy no matter how nutty."There's not even any tropes on that page. I'd nuke it from orbit.
If there are no tropes, then there's nothing worth salvaging.
Bombs away, I say.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope Reportnrjxll: We already have a policy that we do not want troping on speculation. If the thing being troped has not yet been released, it can't be troped.
So you can trope the trailers for a film that hasn't come out yet, or the "sample chapter" of an as-yet-unreleased book, if the chapter's been published in another book. But you can't trope the film or the book.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I'm bothered by this example of Were Still Relevant Dammit in the Live-Action TV folder. I have watched the first two seasons of Sherlock and, while it could be said that it has its moments (such as the dubstep scene mentioned below, which I have yet to see for myself), it would probably be exaggerating to say that the "whole premise" is what this example is complaining about, and I don't really believe that the actors were selected solely for their sexiness.
- The whole premise of Sherlock is this: taking Arthur Conan Doyle's late Victorians, making them sexy, and giving them all plot-relevant access to Twitter. The "The Sign of Three" episode had a sequence involving Sherlock and John powering through trendy London pubs to a dubstep remix of the show's theme.
Going solely by that entry (haven't watched the show), it does sound kind of complainy, and the entry's deletion doesn't seem like it would be anything but an improvement to the work page as a whole.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpI rewrote an Even Better Sequel entry in YMMV.Kingdom Hearts II that came across as passive aggressively dissing the script.
It needed to be rewritten regardless because it was just composed kind of badly and focusing on the wrong aspects for the example, but thought I should mention it here.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Is it me or are people using the more negative tropes in the Audience Reactions index as a loophole to get around this? Don't give me wrong, it's pretty inevitable that this would happen since it's Exactly What It Says on the Tin, but this is way too frequent and is leading to a lot of entries that would otherwise be YMMV.
Hell, there's recently been some progress such as a MASSIVE cleanup on the Deader Than Disco page on account of people misinterpreting the very meaning of the trope leading to entire sections being cut out. For example, the only entry in the anime section left is 4Kids due to how universally hated they are

"Life's like a movie, write your own ending. Keep believing, keep pretending."-Jim HensonIf Character Derailment is flame bait should it really get its own subpages? The CharacterDerailment.Anime And Manga page is little but bashing, with some writer-bashing thrown in.
"Still, it's NOTHING compared to what The Movie did to poor Homura. One of the most beloved characters in the original anime, she spends most of the movie acting like her original self. But then, at the very end, after Madoka and the others fought hard to save her, she betrays them, traps them in a Lotus-Eater Machine, and makes Kyubey her slave! Her flawed but heartwarming relationship with Madoka was twisted to make her an obsessive Yandere psychopath, which is the exact opposite of how the other official works portrayed her- as a cold but ultimately caring girl. No wonder the movie is considered Fanon Discontinuity.
Considering that Ash has battled various opponents in the past with impressive feats, you'd think he'd be able to beat Paul or Trip once without getting his ass handed to him. No matter what, post-Sinnoh Ash seems to fight like an inept beginner, especially considering his impressive victories in the past; and don't get anyone started on the ass whipping he gave to Fantina in a rematch.
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's: For quite a few people, the change in Aki's character was too abrupt, most of it within the space of one or two episodes rather than being more evenly spread out. To clarify: The only thing the former Aki and the recent Aki have in common are their physical attributes. "

TNA and its subpages have a ton of complaining. I deleted a good chunk of the main page trope list that was troping the actual company.
Multiplayer Online Battle Arena seems to be full of complaining, with many of the examples given in the "Tropes prominent in the genre" section basically saying that most of the people who play these games are assholes and flamers.
Ugh. Just skimming through that page I can see the flames burning. It's in desperate need of a rewrite, or at least deleting all the examples talking about the player base.
I cleaned up the examples in Multiplayer Online Battle Arena which make sweeping generalizations about the genre's playerbase.
The description of Drill Music appears to have been written by a hater of the genre. I'm not exactly a fan of this kind of music, but even I can tell that the page could be rewritten to remove the negativity.
Done.
