This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

^ That's my reading of it. I know the general rule is "one page, one quote", but this trope is about the direct conflict between the two. Having a nice short quote from each side makes sense. And both quotes are short and to the point. Unless someone can come up with one quote that encapsulates the trope better, my vote is to keep both of them.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.That does make sense, but if that's the call, an admin note will be useful to explain not to dink with the things without asking in this thread first, and why.
Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettGood call, although the usual term is "Commented out note" not "Admin note".
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think the second is better on Meat Versus Veggies. But yeah, either have one for each side, or have one that's neutral.
Check out my fanfiction!Sanity Meter: Seems like a complainy critic quote to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah. I vote cut.
I don't know. I kind of like that one. Yes, it's from a Caustic Critic, and it's kind of complainy, but it also encapsulates what a Sanity Meter is and how it works really well. I also really like the mental image of "...sanity is like diesel oil or something, and you can get a reading on it by sticking a dipstick in your ear."
I vote keep unless someone can come up with a better one.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I also vote keep on Sanity Meter. It doesn't look too complainy to me.
Hidden Depths had a quote swap (I think without a discussion and it wasn't moved to the quote sub-page). I don't favour either, but there is one on its sub-page that I fairly like. Also there is one quote on the quote tab that I think should be removed — I don't see how it relates to the trope (perhaps it's because I don't know the story at all, but still).
- Original quote:
- Current:
- I nominate the following:
- Cut this one?
I like your nomination, and I agree with cutting the last one you mention—I wonder if someone accidentally edited the wrong page with that one.
Agree with these motions.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo, it sounds like people think we should make an exception for Meat Versus Veggies to allow two quotes, one for each side. Any complaints? My one thing would be that I'd reverse the order so it's the meat quote, then the veggie quote, as in the trope name.
My alignment is Chaotic Cute.Considering the trope name, that would make sense.
So, switch the quotes around and add a commented-out note not to change without consulting this thread?

Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettI'll swap the quotes on Hidden Depths.
Agree to keep both on Meat Versus Veggies, ideally swapping them. Commented-out note would be perfect.
Yes, Do that to Meat Versus Veggies. Make the link to this discussion go directly to the start of the actual discussion of why it has two quotes. That would be this post https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=1327331003042025100&page=78#1926

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Meat Versus Veggies has been changed and commented out note added.
No Blood for Phlebotinum has two quotes.I like the second quote more. It's pithier.
My alignment is Chaotic Cute.I like the second quote better, as well.
Pun has two quotes. I don't think either of them are particularly good.
I propose:
A pun is the shortest distance between two straight lines. - Unknown
EDIT: Whoops, I confused it with this one.
The goodness of the true pun is in the direct ratio of its intolerability. - Edgar Allen Poe

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableRecruiting the Criminal has two quotes. I suggest keeping the first one, as the second pretty much echoes the first sentence of the description. (Either one should suffice, though, worst-case.)
All your safe space are belong to Trump- Pun: Agree on both quotes being bad.
- Recruiting the Criminal: Both so-so to me. Kind of prefer the first quote.
Slut-Shaming has one of the "I'm so clever" critic quotes. Maybe this one from Golden Girls as a replacement:
Dorothy: Rose, what do you call a girl who's slept with a man she's known for less than one day?
Blanche: A damn good sport?
Dorothy: I call her a tramp.
Re: Recruiting the Criminal, I like this one from Discworld:
Von Lipwig: I've robbed banks!
Vetinari: Precisely, just invert your thinking. The money goes in to the bank.

My alignment is Chaotic Cute.Slut-Shaming: OK with the switch.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanRecruiting the Criminal: I like the Greek proverb best of the suggestions so far.
Slut-Shaming: I support the switch.
Recruiting: I suppose I wouldn't really be bothered with the Discworld quote, but I think the proverb works better.
Shaming: Agree with the switch to the Golden Girls quote.
(And tangentially, I wouldn't mind if all the Caustic Critic quotes burst into flames. That's not this thread, though, so I'll not continue on that line of thinking. )

All your safe space are belong to TrumpThe Kafka quote on True Art Is Angsty, as I understand it, is not about angst but about the vital necessity of Emotional Torque. (He says elsewhere, possibly in the same passage, that "Books should be the ice axe that breaks up the frozen sea of one's soul". Neither is an incitement for the author to make the reader distressed, but to make the reader care.)
There are a number of suitable alternatives on the Quotes page. I'm partial to the quote from Drosselmeyer, but this has the advantage of concision:
"It isn't gloomy, it's profound."
—Henrik, A Little Night Music
Crown Description:
What should be the page quote for Monster.Fan Works?
I think the idea behind having two quotes on Meat Versus Veggies is to have one quote for each side. (The idea behind "vegetables are the food that food eats" is that carnivores don't eat plants, they eat herbivores, with the facetiously aggressive implication that eating vegetarians would be part of the natural order of things.)
