Sonic Youth - Experimental Jet Set, Trash, And No Star note
Ladytron - Witching Hour
Various - π: Music For The Motion Picture
Various - Mojo: Beyond Punk! note
I was trying to track down a copy of Alice In Chains' The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here lately after I started getting into them with some of their old stuff and Black Gives Way to Blue, and I ended up finding some Primus goodness to my surprise at Best Buy: The Brown Album and Primus and the Chocolate Factory. Along with the Pork Soda CD I found back at home, I've gained a newfound taste for the Neoclassical Punk Zydeco Rockabilly...funk that Primus has.
...and that bass guitar.

Symphony X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy
I've been digging more heavily into their catalogue since I'm seeing them in concert on Wednesday, especially since I found out none of the songs from my first album of theirs The New Mythology Suite are in the setlist.
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
FFS - FFS. Amazon download, because I had a couple gift card dollars I could take off the price. FFS are a Supergroup consisting of Franz Ferdinand and Sparks.
"Oh Hey, There's Actual New Music At My Local Library" mini-splurge:
Various - Last Of The Garage Punk Unknowns
Laura Marling - Short Movie
Halestorm - Into The Wild Life
"Garage Punk" is pretty much another term for Garage Rock - I was kind of amused that the compilation credits one song to "Unknown Group"; It's not a clever band name, according the booklet, the song was found on an unlabeled test pressing, so the band is literally "unknown" in this case. Also, I've heard of Laura Marling but never heard any of her music, and I'm coming to Halestorm as a fan of 1) Lindsey Stirling and 2) hard rock covers of pop hits.
Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage.Talking Heads - Remain In Light
I've been looking for a copy on vinyl for about a year. Finally found it last Thursday.
- Skullflower, Strange Keys to Untune Gods' Firmament
- Swans, Filth (3-CD deluxe edition)
I feel good about these.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.Pentatonix: Pentatonix, Deluxe Edition. I always have a hard time listening to a brand new album by any artist because I don't know if I'm going to love it like I did their past work. So far it doesn't disappoint.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"OJ Law - Introverts.

My angry rant blog! All of these songs. You should definitely give these guys (and girl) a try, as they've got some great, if a bit odd, music, and aren't really well-known anywhere. (They do have some songs in Japanese, such as Space Colony, but most of them are either English or instrumental.)
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertI stopped in the library and it turned out they had some new indie-rock-ish stuff:
Modest Mouse - Strangers To Ourselves
alt-J - This Is All Yours
Alabama Shakes - Sound & Color
Will Butler - Policy
- X - Los Angeles
- X - Wild Gift
- Carly Rae Jepsen - E-Mo-Tion
- Queen - Queen 40 (first and second box)

Marilyn Manson- The Pale Emperor. Disturbed-Immortalized
Wray - s/t
It's like surf meets shoegaze. Kinda derivative of the work of others, but it's a promising debut album. I love it already, and I'm eagerly awaiting their second album. If you like surf and/or shoegaze, I definitely recommend it.
- Spock's Beard: The Oblivion Particle
- Beach Boys: Pet Sounds
- Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris: Grievous Angel
