"We are home to the 'Psycho Series' that has accumulated well over 16 million hits and has become a little bit of an internet sensation...which is just a multitude of clips featuring my broken home and dysfunctional family where I'm the brunt of everything. I am actually that little kid freaking out over his video games. This is my channel. Yes, I do upload these videos. Why? Because you like them."
Jesse Ridgway

McJuggerNuggets is the YouTube channel of actor, comedian, director and online personality Jesse Ridgway (b. September 29, 1992). Ridgway and his channel are best known for the Psycho Series, which he created, directed and starred in as the series' protagonist (a guy named Jesse Ridgway).

The series revolved around Jesse's family and routinely consisted of someone (usually his dad) becoming angry and his things getting destroyed. While initially (seemingly) starting small, they grew into a massive storyline with a serious plot that was presented almost like a serialized drama, which Jesse has called "the greatest pseudo reality interactive storytelling experience of our generation".

Jesse maintained that the videos were real until The Reveal on June 6, 2016, when two Psycho Series videos ("Psycho Kid Kills Dad" and "Psycho Kid Flees Country") were posted, and the final moments of the latter revealed the series was fake. Prior to this, there was more than enough evidence to suggest that they were fake, which could be found with about five minutes of searching on YouTube. Whether the videos were real or fake was hotly debated until the revelation.

Shortly after the end of the series, Jesse began a 16-episode miniseries that follows an amnesiac Jesse in Switzerland as he attempts to regain his memories with help from Jeffrey, Jr. The real Jesse has described it as "the transition from Jesse as a character to Jesse as a real-life person."

He has released multiple additional series since then, including one following his fictional "issues" with a man named Brian Spitz (known on YouTube as "youtuber24"), My Virtual Reality, and The Devil Inside, as well as crossovers with The Angry Grandpa and boogie2988.

On December 14th, 2018, McJuggerNuggets released Psycho Kid Vs Psycho Dad, a graphic novel detailing the events after the Psycho Series ended.

The McJuggerNuggets channel can be found here, with related channels for Jeffrey (BigBrudda) here and Uncle Larry here.

The Psycho Series provides examples of:

    The Psycho Series
  • The Alcoholic: Jeffrey Sr. drinks beer frequently and gets drunk off his ass.
  • Abusive Parents: Jeffrey Sr. steadily became more and more one as the series went on. It became outright CRIMINAL at the very end.
    • It is revealed in PRISONER OF WAR that Psycho Dad was abusive to a young Jeffrey.
  • All Just a Dream: The sequel series is giving off the vibe that the Psycho Series was all a dream that Jesse had during a coma.
  • all lowercase letters: The video "i'm a psychopath.", opposed to the normal uppercase lettered titles.
  • Anti-Hero: Jesse is this. While he can be a Nice Guy with a bit of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold moments, he can be a bit selfish and focus more on himself than others, sort of veering into Villain Protagonist.
  • Anti-Villain: Jeff Sr. is not completely intent on ending Jesse's gaming habits, only wanting Jesse to get a job and become financially independent. In "Psycho Dad Shreds Video Games", it's implied that Jeff Sr. only decided to mow over Jesse's games as a last resort.
  • And the Adventure Continues: After the story ends and Jesse reveals that the show's faked, he goes all behind the scenes and even recreates certain moments in the Psycho series... And then youtuber24 gets in on the conflict.
  • Apathetic Citizens: New Jersey is clearly like this judging by how none of the millions of juggies have made an effort to alert the authorities.
    • Though the ones that do make an effort to alert the authorities usually get a reply that "It's just entertainment".
  • Archnemesis Dad: Jeffrey Sr.
  • Arc Villain: Jeffrey Sr., Jeffrey Jr., Aunt Melissa and Uncle Chris have all had their time as the main antagonist.
  • Arc Words: "i'm a psychopath".
  • Artifact of Doom: "Emma" The Styrofoam head is built up to be this. With Jesse claming that the harmless object itself is demonic. Emma is blamed for the supposed hauntings of Aunt Jackie's property.
  • Ascended Extra: Bryan, or youtuber24. He made one appearance in the vlog WHO ARE YOU? after the Psycho Series ended. How ascended? He's the Big Bad of the Hollywood series.
  • Awful Wedded Life:
    • Prior to their divorce, ever since Mr. Ridgway started destroying Jesse's possessions and berating him over his career choices, his marriage to Mrs. Theresa Ridgway had deteriorated to a point where Mrs. Ridgway feels physically sick when she sees her now-ex husband.
    • Aunt Melissa herself also lives in a very suckish wedding live with Uncle George
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other
    • In the aftermath of "Psycho Mom Divorces Husband," Jeffrey walks into Jesse's destroyed room, and Jesse runs over to and hugs his brother. Despite his utter confusion, Jeffrey returns the hug as best he's able given their recent antagonism.
      • Add more to the fact in "Psycho Kid Moves Out", he tries to calm Jesse when Jeffrey Sr. stole his $30k for the house he was going to buy. In "CONTROL YOUR ANGER", Jeffrey even tells Jesse he's being the brother he never was and they even hug, Jesse even admitting once he's left that he may have been too hard on his older brother.
    • Jesse apparently hates it when people bad mouth Jeffrey Sr. Kinda shows that despite the shit Mr. Ridgway does, Jesse still loves his father.
      • In Psycho Kid Smashes TV, Jesse accuses his father of loving the TV more than him. His father's response is, "That's bullshit, and you know it."
      • In Jesse's first QnA video, Jesse responds to a question about his father by saying that he still loves him, but it's "fucked up".
    • Jesse comes to the defense of Aunt Melissa when Jeffrey Sr. attacks her in a vlog video, so much so that he storms out of the house and tells him off quite brutally in fact.
    • When Jesse finally gets his $30K from the safe after shooting Jeff, he finds that Jeffrey Sr. had a photo of him, Terry, JT, and Jesse on his graduation.
  • Battle Strip: When Jesse gets in a tantrum, the clothes come off.
    • Surprisingly adverted in the vlog "MY FAULT! *PSYCHO UPDATE* where Jesse and Corn strips down to their underwear to play a game of beer pong with Melissa's son and his friends in the basement.
  • Berserk Button: Jesse's is when his dad tells him to stop playing video games and get a real job. His dad's is being disrespected, though at times there's a rather loose definition of "disrespect" in place.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Proven in both "BREAKING POINT!" and "CUSTODY BATTLE" that Uncle Larry when pissed off can be as frustrated as Psycho Dad. Even when he's forced against the wall by his infuriated in-law, Uncle Larry still argues and even dares Psycho dad to hit him. From which given that Jesse, Corn and the Camera watching, he didn't out of rare mercy.
  • Big Bad: Mr. Ridgway.
    • Big Bad Duumvirate: While Mr. Ridgway is always in this role, there is sometimes a more active antagonist, with Mr. Ridgway acting as a Dragon or Greater-Scope Villain.
      • First, it was Mr. Ridgway and Jeffrey Jr., with Jeffrey Jr. being the more active antagonist.
      • After Jeffrey Jr. had a Heel–Face Turn, it changed to Mr. Ridgway and Aunt Melissa.
      • Changed once again to Mr. Ridgway and his brother Uncle Chris, although Mr. Ridgway can also be seen as the Greater-Scope Villain.
    • Bryan (aka Youtuber24) is the big bad during the series concerning the conflict over the documentary.
    • In the Christmas Series, Terry is the big bad, putting on a great performance as an overstressed, greedy Scrooge-like character that cancels Christmas, underpays her employees and makes them work on Christmas, and fires Uncle Larry without caring about his declining home life.
  • Bitch Slap: During a heated argument between Jesse and Melissa, Jesse threatens to call Melissa a "cunt" if she continues arguing with Jesse. Instead of stopping, she assumed that Jesse called her a "cunt" and immediately slapped Jesse. Jesse's mother was shocked and chastised her friend for her action.
  • Bittersweet Ending: In-universe, Jesse's family is destroyed, with his father dead, his mother corrupted into an alcoholic feminist, his brother and cousin turned against him, and one uncle incapacitated. He'll never see his friends or girlfriend ever again, since he's now most likely a wanted felon in the United States, forcing him to move to Switzerland. On the plus side, though, Jesse is now free of his father's abusive control, and free to live life the way he wants to.
  • Black-and-Gray Morality: Would you consider any of these people to be "good" except maybe Corn and Theresa?
    • Although we can assume it's just now Corn, Georgie, and Uncle Larry, as Terry really starts to become a Jerkass.
  • Book Ends: Starts out with Jesse playing a video game in the living room as Jeffrey Sr. pulls up in a pickup truck, it ends with Jeffrey Sr. playing a video game and Jesse driving away in the same pickup truck.
  • Briefcase Full of Money: Jesse's bag containing $30k for a down payment for Buzz's house. Unfortunately, in "Psycho Kid Moves Out" Jeffrey Sr. stole it and tossed it in his safe.
  • Bullying a Dragon: In "I GOT A JOB PRANK!", Jesse pranked Jeffery Sr. into thinking he had got a real job, while knowing full well Jeffery Sr. was very insistent on him getting one. The very next day, Jesse's Wii U collection has been eradicated and he has to get a job by the end of the month.
  • Camera Abuse: Several cameras have been broken or damaged over the course of the videos. Notably, Jeffrey's lens god damaged during a botched prank on Jesse while the latter was staying at Uncle Larry's, and Mr. Ridgway destroyed Jeffrey's camera after he found out that Jeffrey smashed more of his trophies and made it look like Jesse did it.
    • Averted, however, in "Psycho Dad Watches McJuggerNuggets." After Jesse tells his dad that Corn had been filming everything, he grabs the camera from Corn. We're led to believe that he's going to smash it, but he just hands it to Jesse.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: The show's Comedic Sociopathy and Jesse's Butt-Monkey nature actually do end up taking quite a serious turn.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: A lot of characters from the channel fade in and out, the most notable being Juliette, Jesse's girlfriend. Somewhat understandable as she's busy with college.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: While this is Jeffrey Sr.'s main schick in the Psycho Series. Jeffery Sr. took it up to eleven in "Psycho Dad Woodchips Wii U" where he essentially tortures Jesse to forcefully make him get a job by destroying his third Wii U, essentially breaking him to comply with his father's wishes of Jesse getting a job moments before his PS4 is thrown in the woodchipper.note
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: In "Psycho Kid Kills Father", a fan has spotted that the shirts worn by Jesse and the Jeffreys are pertinent to their morality. Jeffrey Sr. wears a white shirt, Jesse wears a black shirt, and Jeffrey Jr. wears a gray shirt.
  • Companion Cube: The Emma Styrofoam Head and Damien the "face on the drywall" are shaping up to become this in Jesse's newest vlogs.
  • Contrived Coincidence:
    • In the "Psycho Kid Gets Arrested" video, when Jesse is flipping out in the hardware store, the cops are called, and it takes less than nine seconds for an "officer" to show up and arrest Jesse. Though, this was later revealed to have been orchestrated by Jesse's dad as a "scared straight" exercise.
    • Jeff Sr drives to Aunt Melissa's house to talk to Theresa - Jesse and Corn go there to warn him, but they manage to make it there first.
  • Cool Car: In a sence. Jeffery Sr. owns a backhoe, and occasionally uses it to destroy things.
  • Cool Old Guy: Well, he's more middle-aged than old, but Uncle Larry still counts.
  • Country Matters: Jesse does this towards Aunt Melissa in "BOILING POINT!".
  • Crapsack World: The Police Are Useless, multiple people are in obviously abusive relationships, the millions of people who watch the show don't think to call them or pitch in, nobody can have anything without it being destroyed...
  • Cycle of Revenge: The prank war between Jeffery and Jesse. Which added rifts within the family.
  • Cutting the Knot: As of late Spring 2016, everyone seems to be taking a turn for the worst, to an extent where violence seems to have become the acceptable solution for the daily turmoil.
    • Aunt Melissa was very angry that Jesse decided to park the RV in her backyard. When he refuses to leave, she calls Jeff to have it mercilessly backhoed. She just wanted it gone, and didn't care what it would take to rid the area of Jesse.
    • To make matters worse, it's implied that Psycho Dad, and now U-U-Uncle Larry are so fed up that they've come to believe that Murder Is the Best Solution.
      • Some of the people who watched "Psycho Dad Demolishes Gaming Room" believe that Jeff is beyond all hope for Jesse and decided to kill him in order to rid himself of the "embarrassment" of having an unemployed son. Luckily, Jesse, and Corn, who happened to be with him, were not killed or injured.
      • Uncle Larry. Out of all people. "Psycho Uncle Impacts Pool" strongly implies that he feels this way towards Jeff. Over the phone, he asks Jesse for Psycho Dad's location. When he tells him he's at the pool, what happens next? Uncle Larry tears through the fence like a bullet and intentionally crashes into the pool, because he "just wanted it to be over". Oh goodness...
      • It finally happens in "Psycho Kid Kills Father".
  • Darker and Edgier: The Psycho videos at first mostly involved a father breaking his son's stuff that were related to YouTube and video games so he would get a working job while the older son filmed everything. After "Psycho Grills Wii U" and the start of vlogs, the videos became more serious and focused on just how dysfunctional the whole family is. Starting with Psycho Dad Busts Down Door, the videos became even darker. By the last episode, Jesse straight-up kills his dad.
    • Lighter and Softer: Became this following the end of the Psycho Series. Jesse still has videos where he's involved in conflicts (mostly involving Bryan) which may or may not be part of another storyline, but it's much more realistic than even the earlier psycho videos because the anger is far less exaggerated.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Jeffrey, and Jesse when he's angry.
  • Demonic Possession: In both vlogs, "BAD MOJO!" and "BURNING AT THE STAKE!". Happened with Jesse and blamed Emma the Styrofoam Head for possessing him after he snapped out of it, driving him to Kill It with Fire.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Jesse crosses this in "i'm a psychopath", to the point where he eventually says he might stop making videos.
  • Disproportionate Retribution:
    • Jesse flips the table with his family's Thanksgiving dinner on it just because of a tongue-in-cheek jab from his father.
    • How does Jesse react to not getting a Wii U for Christmas? By completely reasonably setting the Christmas tree on fire, of course!
    • Mr. Ridgway's reaction to finding out that Jesse was selling "Psycho Dad" T-shirts was to dig a hole in their yard and bury all of Jesse's games. And he almost killed Jesse by dropping a large amount of dirt on him when he jumped into the hole to try and save some of them.
    • In "THE PITFALL PRANK!", Jesse retaliates against Jeffery for locking him out of his own room for a few days, tying Jeffery's Batman statue on a hanging rope to lure him over and having Corn shove him into the hole. Jeffrey's response? Getting Jeffery Sr. to bust down Jesse's door and destroy his room when Jesse and Uncle Larry are filming, ultimately resulting in Jesse once again kicked out of the house with the rest of the family turned against them, even Theresa. Instead of defending Jesse like she usually does, she is on Jeffrey's side and even accuses Jesse of lying to her repeatedly.
    • Mr. Ridgway's reaction to learning that Jesse's mom gave him money to get his Xbox fixed was to throw said Xbox through the back of Jesse's car, smash all the windows with a pipe, then cave in the windshield with a piece of firewood.
    • In "Psycho Kid Birthday Bash", Mr. Ridgway's reaction of Teresa getting Jesse another Wii U is by smashing it and simply saying "Jesse already has too many videos games".
    • In "Psycho Kid Submerges Motorcycle", Jesse's reaction to Jeffery painting his car pink was to dunk his brother's motorcycle into a water filled hole, all while yelling at his friends. This has led to backdrafts from his fans stating that the Jesse's car can be repainted back to it's original color and that he went overboard.
    • The whole fan mail ordeal, the moment Jeffrey Sr. found Jesse's fan mail stash and read one of the letters. His reaction? Burn the entire fan mail stash and forcefully close Jesse's PO Box.
    • And what about Jeffrey Sr.'s reaction on Jesse's prank the night prior to "Psycho Dad Woodchips Wii U"? He throws his son's Wii U console and a collection of Wii U games, as well as his Halo Nerf pistol into a wood-chipper, breaking Jesse to submission, and he even almost drops his PS4 in the wood-chipper before Jesse eventually admits he will get a job.
    • What's Jeffrey Sr.'s response for constantly losing while playing with Jesse? Rage Quit by shooting Jesse's Xbox One and blames Jesse for embarrassing him.
  • Downer Ending: Jesse goes off the deep end and ends up shooting his father. He gets the combination to the safe, but finds that most of the money is gone. He still has enough to flee to Europe, so he goes to Switzerland where he attempts suicide due to being wracked with guilt over what he has done. He can't go through with it, but he is still not in a good place mentally because he now has to live with the fact that he's a murderer. In addition, everyone whose lives he damaged (such as Uncle Larry) still have to live with this.
    • It's a small little feature, but Jesse noticeably left the gun at the crime scene, having not have worn anything to prevent fingerprints form getting on it. It could be implied the police will eventually come for him and his "freedom" will end shortly.
  • The Dragon: Mr. Ridgway sometimes functions as this for Jeffrey, who makes it look like Jesse has done something bad in order to get him in trouble. An example would be when Jeffrey destroyed the rest of his dad's trophies, and then told him that Jesse did it, causing his dad to go to Uncle Larry's (where Jesse was staying at the time) and break Jesse's DS.
    • Jeffrey and Mr. Ridgway take turns as this - other times it's Jeffrey who's the Dragon in the situation.
  • Dramedy
  • Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male: Note at one point, Jesse is slapped right across the face by Aunt Melissa. Now imagine if the genders were reversed...
  • Dysfunctional Family: The Ridgways are a prime example. Jesse, Jeffrey Sr. and Jeffrey Jr. all have anger issues, and Terry always enables Jesse and feeds his game addiction. Pretty much the only family members who hasn't been shown to be dysfunctional are Uncle Larry and Tom, though their relationship does appear to be quite
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • Strangely enough, Jesse's YouTube channel had several videos before the Psycho Series, such as a series where Jesse had a clone and a video series called "THE G.A.M.E.", featuring his parents. Jesse also did some skits involving his parents and friends as well, giving the Epileptic Trees theory that the videos are staged. Again, we're not so sure.
    • Mark and Corn are seen in an early video wearing glasses. Subsequent appearance depict them with no glasses.
    • Uncle Larry himself. In early videos, he wasn't sporting a goatee and was clean shaven. Subsequent appearances depict him with a goatee, or at least a Perma-Stubble goatee.
    • A much more depressing example, Jesse's Mother used to be close to Jesse, actually played a few games with her son, and does not mind Jesse filming. Fast forward to sometime around New Years week, she's turned into a Jerkass mother, who doesn't want to spend time with her son and instead would rather go out bar hopping with "Aunt" Melissa, and even starting to get on her son's case about having the camera around her.
    • There is a video called 2Girls1Cup Reaction, which has Jesse, Terry and Aunt Melissa watching a pornography video together. Not only is Aunt Melissa nice and isn't at all a Jerkass, she and Terry are disgusted by the porn and say they will never watch it again. Almost a year later in the video "UNDER THE INFLUENCE", both of them are watching porn and are laughing hysterically. Jesse himself is clearly laughing at the porn in the early video while in the later video he is horrified by it.
    • Most of the videos before the start of vlogs censored out curse words, while in the Psycho videos they have always been uncensored.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Deconstructed. By the end of the series, Jesse finally stands up to his father and gets the money he so desperately wanted. Unfortunately, Jesse does not come out of the confrontation unscathed and finds out that he does not have thirty grand like he had thought. Not only that, but it's pretty clear that killing his dad put a huge damper on him. And we mean a massive one. He got his happy ending, and while he earned it, he's horrified by what he had to do.
  • The End... Or Is It?: Many thought the channel was over now that the Psycho Series ended. ...but then Jesse began to uploaded new videos that seem to take place after the Psycho Series, or at least some implication of that or something.
  • Failed a Spot Check:
    • Someone is filming a rage-filled temper tantrum (sometimes Corn) and is holding a highly visible camera that isn't even a GoPro. Surprisingly there is very little Camera Abuse.
      • This is sometimes justified in that rage sometimes causes a tunnel vision.
    • Jeffrey is in the Ridgway house. Somehow, he managed to not spot the rubble of the gaming room outside the morton building, nor did he ever think to check YouTube to see the video of the gaming stream being interrupted by its destruction. He literally just learns of the destruction when Jesse comes to borrow his laptop.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: Jeffrey Sr. wants nothing more than for Jessie to give up video games and Youtube and get what he considers a 'real job'.
  • Flanderization:
    • Jesse gets dumber and crazier as the series goes on.
    • Jeffery Sr./Psycho Dad has gotten more abusive and destructive, to the point where he destroys an entire room and an RV while Jesse was still inside them.
  • Flipping the Table:
    • Jesse's dad flips the table when Jesse and his friends are trying to have a WOW LAN party, ruining all three of their laptops.
    • Jesse flips the table during the Thanksgiving video, with all of the food on it and before anyone got to eat.
  • Foreshadowing: In Psycho Kid Kills Father, near the end of the video, there's a cut to a dying Jeffery Sr. after Jesse pulls away in his car. Given the circumstance that the only other person in the room would probably not have any interest in filming his own father dying and his murderer running off plus the fact that Jesse would have to get that footage in order to put it in his video in the first place hints to that it has indeed been scripted from day one.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble:
    • Jesse (melancholic), Jeffrey Sr (choleric), Jeffrey Jr (sanguine), Uncle Larry (phlegmatic).
    • Supporting Characters: Corn (eclectic), Theresa (melancholic), Aunt Melissa (choleric), Uncle George (phlegmatic/melancholic).
  • Grand Finale: "Psycho Kid Kills Father" and "Psycho Kid Flees Country" are this. Jesse kills his father and gets his money back, with only two bundles of cash left off. He then flees the country to Switzerland, where he finally is free...but at the cost of the guilt of destroying the lives of those he loves. However near the end, Jesse sets down the camera on the bed and walks to the doorway where he says "That's a wrap!" where Terry, Larry, and Jeffrey Jr. congratulate their work finally being done, all the while ending with Jesse and Jeffrey Sr. hugging it out.
  • Genre Shift:
    • Goes from a vlog series of a kid who puts up with his father, his mother's changing behavior with the influence of Melissa, and "Aunt" Melissa putting him down and influencing Terry to a vlog series relating to the paranormal within Aunt Jackie's spare house at some time where Jesse prepares to move out of his house.
      • The Vlog series has ended the paranormal storyline and has gone back to Jesse living with his Dad again while both Aunt Melissa and Terry have been Put on the Bus after the events of The Fallout Parts 1 and 2.
    • The series has been doing this a lot recently. It has gone from Jesse trying to find a job, then working with his Uncle Chris at a farm and now running away from his Dad while living in Uncle Larry's RV.
  • Godzilla Threshold:
    • When Melissa refused to leave, Jesse called Aunt Jackie to have her removed from the property. Cue Uncle Chuck armed with a firearm.
    • The tables were turned on Jesse when Melissa called Jeffrey Sr. and revealed that Jesse is staying in her property in Uncle Larry's RV. Cue Psycho Dad Rips Apart Trailer.
  • Groin Attack: In the vlog "BELOW THE BELT!", after Uncle Larry blocked Aunt Melissa's slap. She followed through with a knee strike to Uncle Larry's groin.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Mr. Ridgway is the most notable example, though Jesse and Jeffrey are also shown to be pretty quick to anger, as is Jeffrey's now ex girlfriend Kate.
    • Lampshaded by Anita the owner of the farm describing Jesse's family on his father's side.
  • He Who Must Not Be Seen:
    • Jeffrey was rarely seen in the earlier psycho videos, on account of being the cameraman.
    • Corn, as he films a lot of Jesse's vlogs and some of the Psycho videos.
    • Dr. Nelson's face was not shown during the family therapy session video, as per her request.
  • Hope Spot:
    • Surprisingly enough, the video Psycho Dad Answers Questions is this. The video was actually one of the calmer (in a sense) moments were Mr. Ridgway isn't angry (or at least trying to keep his cool) and is just answering Q&As from fans, with Jesse next to him. It's a decent somewhat tension breaker between the two....until Jesse reads the question "How do you feel being labeled as a psycho and a bad father to your kids?. Cue Mr. Ridgway flipping his shit.
    • Jesse attempted this by trying to have his father and mother make amends so he can keep his family together. It backfired horribly, with Terry and Jeffrey Sr. (even more for the latter) going to basically hate him.
    • After having enough with Aunt Melissa, Terry decided that she want's to move out. Jesse invites his mother to live with him. The end result, his mother asking her own son if he can find his own place.
    • Jeffrey Sr. is shown to regret his actions on Jesse in "Psycho Kid Kills Father"...except he later on says he ''should have never shown him video games". That response landed a bullet in his chest.
  • The Hyena: Jeffery Jr. tends to giggle, chuckle or laugh a lot of the time, normally this is a good sign towards the viewers and the family. It's when he stops laughing and becomes serious that the situation turns dire.
  • Hypocrite: Oh yes.
    • Kate even got in on this - she laughs at Jesse's tantrum on thanksgiving but tells Jeffrey to grow up.
  • Hypocritical Humor:
    • Mr. Ridgway pranked Jesse by pretending to chainsaw him. When Jesse attempted the same prank as revenge a few days later, Mr. Ridgway retaliated by destroying his Xbox One.
    • And his reaction to finding out that Jeffrey's girlfriend broke his iPad is to call her crazy.
  • In the End, You Are on Your Own: Each character that had been even an iota of Jesse's support slowly and gradually left his side be they intentionally or unintentionally, to the point where it's just Jesse all on his own.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Jesse, who is in his 20's, gets along very well with Uncle Larry, who's in his 50's.
  • Jerkass: Both Jeffey Sr. and Jr. Jesse is considered one by some as well.
    • Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
    • Deep down, Jeffrey Sr. just wants his son to stop doing what he sees as wasting his life and to be successful.
    • Jesse can qualify at times seeing his loving relationship with his mother, Uncle Larry, his friends, and his girlfriend Juliette.
    • Jeffrey Jr. has slowly gone as this after he and Jesse somewhat make amends.
    • Aunt Melissa. While she is a flat out Jerkass for the most part, she really just wants what's best for Jesse, such as insisting he moves out of the house and worries he may becomes like his father.
    • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Both Jesse and Mr. Ridgway have these moments as well.
      • Mr. Ridgway becomes even more abusive and psychotic as the series goes on, to the point that he's even attempted to murder Jesse on at least one occasion. This casts doubt on how good his intentions really are.
      • Jesse has moments where he is shown to be just as manipulative as Mr. Ridgway accuses him of being. He has also exhibited a willingness to throw his friends under the bus, like when he told his dad that Corn was solely responsible for the videos because he filmed them.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Melissa yells at Jesse for the RV in the woods behind her house. The way Jesse behaves we clearly are not supposed to sympathize with her - yet Jesse is technically squatting and Jesse did steal food from her house.
  • Jock Dad, Nerd Son: Mr. Ridgway is a more traditionally masculine outdoorsman, compared to Jesse who would prefer to stay inside and play video games.
  • Karma Houdini:
    • Jeffrey Sr. seems to never get any payback or punishment for destroying Jesse's stuff. Exaggerated as the show has gone on, where even physical assault is something he can get away with!
      • Came to bite him in the arse in "Psycho Kid Kills Father, but he still gets the last laugh when Jesse checks the bag of his $30K to see it had only two bundles of money.
    • Jeffrey Jr. early on.
    • Aunt Melissa doesn't seem to get her karma despite being the cause of Terry's corruption as well as being the reason Jesse went more off the deep end after the events of "Psycho Dad Tears Apart RV". Although it's implied she will forever live with the guilt that she drove Jesse into killing Jeff Sr. and still living a horrible life with Uncle George.
  • Large Ham: Jesse. When pissed, he will often scream at some points. Sometimes he's quiet, and then he will scream, and you never see it coming, to the point it's almost like a Jump Scare.
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • After many times destroying Jesse's belongings, Jeffrey Sr. finally gets one at "Psycho Dad Chucks Super Nintendo" when he fell and rolled to the ground.
    • In "I GOT A JOB PRANK!", Jesse pranked Jeffrey Sr. into thinking he had gotten a job. The very next day, the events of "Psycho Dad Woodchips Wii U" happened.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • Jeffrey Sr. in spades.
    • "Aunt" Mellissa herself also counts. Not even letting Uncle Larry visit his own sister and even making attempts to do the same with Jesse by manipulating his own mother.
    • Jesse's mother pulled a Big one on Jesse in "TAKING OUT THE TRASH!" where she demands Jesse to get the camera out and that they're done. She also did it again in "MY FAULT! *PSYCHO UPDATE* where she flat out tells Jesse that he can deal with it himself in regards to his father's behavior. Essentially cutting off and pushing Jesse away from any emotional support that was previously given to him by his mother during one of Jeffrey Sr.'s psychotic episodes.
    • Jeffrey Sr. has gone higher as of late, most recently destroying Jesse's fan mail and packaging and then closing down his P.O. Box.
    • When Jesse pranked his father into thinking he had a job, Jeff Sr. responded by destroying half of Jesse's video game collection just to force him into submission and get a job.
      • Even when Jesse got a job at his mother's canvas company, Jeff Sr. rejected that and said that wasn't a job in Jesse's field.
  • Manchild: Jesse, to an extent. He'd much rather spend his time playing video games than finding what his dad would consider to be a real job.
  • Mean Character, Nice Actor: The cast who played antagonists are really nice actors in the BTS series.
  • Offing the Offspring: Downplayed when this almost happens in Psycho Dad Demolishes Gaming Room. Psycho Dad knocks down and saws the walls of Jesse's room, with his son and Corn inside! One of the walls almost falls on Corn, and he only stops to berate Jesse, claiming that it was justified because Jesse quit his job and make excuses for destroying the room. Jesse warns him that he could have killed someone, and he downright dismisses the warning and goes back to crushing the walls down, with the boys still in the room!
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Jesse and Mr. Ridgway suffer a big one when Teresa, finally tired of Mr. Ridgway's abusive behavior towards their sons, finally tells him she wants a divorce and storms out of the house.
    • In "Psycho Dad Chucks Super Nintendo", Mr. Ridgway ends up falling from a broken piece of Jesse's new house and gets hurt as a result. It comes off as funny at first...until Jeffrey Sr. says 'Something's wrong!", causing Jesse and Larry to get more concerned.
    • In "FORCED RESIGNATION!" Jesse discovers Jeffrey Sr's revolver and a box of ammo inside the old chest in the living room.
    • Jeff and JT's reaction to the fact Jesse has the revolver and holding both of them at gun point (Jeff for the safe combination and JT to record everything).
      • And then JT's reaction when Jesse does shoot Jeff.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: Uncle Larry is getting a tutorial video about grilling small steak strips and shrimp skewers on the grill. Once he hears Jesse shouting, the look on the face is that of pure "Not again..." as Mr Ridgway tosses a Wii into a lake.
  • Only Sane Man: Judging by the massive apathy in the town they live in, somehow Larry appears to be the only person who isn't insane.
  • Orphaned Series: "Everyday Situations", which was more of a sketch series Jesse and Corn did. He later on ended it after "two seasons" since he ran out of ideas for it.
    • The sketches in general have been largely abandoned once the Psycho Series came in.
  • Out-of-Character Moment:
    • A shocking one is in "RAGE QUIT! *PSYCHO UPDATE*" From Corn of all people, who tells off Uncle Chris for insulting his family, his name, and the fact that he hasn't done anything with his degree in Criminal Justice (despite the fact Corn worked at a prison but quit). So much that it surprises Jesse and by some extension, the audience.
    • Later on, Uncle Larry gets one in "BREAKING POINT!" after Jesse and Corn have to tell him that Mr. Ridgway destroyed his RV. This causes him to snap and start throwing his various possessions around in anger. He then walks off in anger, returning only to get his keys and drive to an unknown destination (presumably either Mr. Ridgway's or Aunt Melissa's house).
  • Police Are Useless: Despite all the video evidence of Mr. Ridgway, Jesse, and Jeffrey committing crimes of property damage, trespassing, assault, harassment, and even attempted manslaughter, mysteriously everyone still thinks "The cops won't do anything". A few viewers have even claimed to have called the local police department in Jesse's hometown of Elmer, New Jersey, and got the same answer: "It's just entertainment." This was a major red flag that the Psycho series was fake.
    • The day "Psycho Kid Kills Father" was released, one user called the Elmer PD to report the supposed crime, only to be told it was fake, and he could be charged for tying up the lines. Other users posted videos of themselves calling the police in Elmer, each depicting the dispatcher getting progressively irritated. Some users feel sorry for the 911 dispatcher, knowing he's going to be swamped with such calls.
  • Porn Stash: Jesse implies that his father has one in the dusty chest in the living room, only to be ultimately subverted when Jesse opens the chest and finds an American Flag, a box of bullets, a revolver, Bases Loaded II: Second Season NES game, and various miscellaneous items.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Jeffrey Sr., Jesse, and Jeffrey Jr. are prone to acting like this.
  • Put on a Bus: Terry and Aunt Melissa have been rarely seen after the events of "The Fallout". Although Melissa has started to appeared more often after Jesse moved into her property with Uncle Larry's RV.
  • Rage Quit: Jeffrey Sr. pulled an extreme one on in both "PSYCHO DAD PLAYS VIDEO GAMES!" and "Psycho Dad Shoots Xbox One". Where after constantly losing, at first takes his anger out at the console controller by slamming it to the ground before heading off to the gun case to retrieve a rifle and forcefully unplugs the Xbox One and taking it outside to shoot it and blames Jesse for embarrassing him.
  • Recap Episode: "Psycho Family Therapy" plays out like one.
  • Room Full of Crazy: The small closet that Jesse's videos have been confined to has turned into one of these. On June 2, 2016, Jesse wrote the phrase, "i'm a psychopath" over and over again all over the walls.
  • Sanity Slippage:
    • Everyone has, since November 2015, gotten more and more crazy as the series goes on. By 2016, it started reaching Evangelion-levels.
    • Jeffrey started this as early as 2014. Though after his Heel–Face Turn, he became the Only Sane Man.
    • As of May, 2016, Jesse has been going through this big time.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here:
    • Kate. However, her actions of being fed up with Jeffrey were foreshadowed when she actually took Jesse's side during the stream raid.
    • Later, Terry, whose departure has been the driving force of the most recent Psycho videos.
    • Corn has abandoned Jesse twice; first after Mr. Ridgway destroyed his laptop, and again after Uncle Chris threw manure at him. The first time, it took him a couple months to start talking to Jesse again; the second time, he came back the very next day.
    • Jesse runs off in Jeff's car after the events of "Psycho Kid Kills Father".
  • Season Finale: The video where Jeffrey steals the RV and takes it back to the house with Jesse in it plays out (suspiciously) like this.
    • Fans also see this with "Psycho Mother Divorces Husband"
    • Psycho Kid Flees Country serves as the finale for the entire series.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: In "PAY FOR EVERYTHING!", Jeffrey Sr. gives Jesse a MASSIVE rent for September 2016 for $2400, saying that the prices were raised due to Jesse's girlfriend staying for four days for his birthday weekend (the "Birthday Bash" video). Now the cell phone bill ($150) was somewhat reasonable, but that still doesn't excuse the food ($400 for two), internet ($300 for two), and cable bills ($250 for two). There's also the fact that Jeffrey Sr. is charging Jesse $250 by installing a door he already paid for with his own money ($500 if you count the glass door he broke). Granted, Jesse did violate the open door policy his dad set, but that's still way too much of a fee for the first door. And to top it all off, Juliette was factored in with the electricity bill, and guess how much that cost? EIGHT. HUNDRED. DOLLARS.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!:
    • After Jeffrey Sr. gave a "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Jesse in "Psycho Dad's Drunken Rant", Jesse responds with a "Fuck you" in a whisper in the direction of his father's bedroom.
    • Jesse routinely does this to Aunt Melissa whenever she tries to butt into Jesse's conversation with his mother.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot:
    • Jesse, his father, and his brother are all very profane. Though she was only featured prominently in one video, Jeffrey's girlfriend Kate is also very foul-mouthed.
    • Uncle Larry, who usually avoids saying the f word, becomes this in BREAKING POINT and CUSTODY BATTLE. Although it's understandable as Jesse told him that Jeffey Sr. ripped apart his RV.
  • Skewed Priorities:
    • Jesse is kicked out of the house and lives in a tent in the area behind the house. What does he think is important to get? A TV and his Xbox so he can play more video games, of course!
    • Jeff Sr mentions that money is tight. So what does he do after he steals $30,000 from Jesse? Go on vacation.
    • Jesse is saving up for his own place. What does he do? Give PS4 console giveaways, of course.
    • Melissa is caught on camera committing assault and vandalism while Jeff Sr. has been caught on tape of destroying an RV Worth thousands of dollars. Everyone has phones on them. Not once are the authorities contacted.
  • Spoiled Brat: Some fans of the series see Jesse as this. His case isn't exactly helped by the fact that his reaction to not getting what he wanted for Christmas was to set the tree on fire!
  • Sinister Surveillance: Jeffrey Sr. installed security cameras within the Ridgeway household, including installing a set in both of Jesse's rooms due to having trust issues with his younger son.
  • Stalker without a Crush: Bryan, a fan who sent Jesse emails before the vlog WHO ARE YOU? to come and interview him. After the reveal, he was upset that he had interviewed a fictional character and not the real Jesse, so he set off to expose Jesse. How does he plan on doing this? By flying a drone to the Ridgway house to investigate his life. Creepy, right?
  • Tantrum Throwing: Frequently when Jeffrey Sr. destroys Jesse's stuff.
  • Take That, Critics!: Jesse's "reacting to hate comments" videos have him dishing brutal comebacks to his haters, and it was so controversial that Jesse had to tone it down for his second video.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Jeffrey Sr. did this twice; once in "Psycho Dad Reacts to One Million Juggies" where he gave one to Jeffrey Jr. The second time is more tear jerking in "Psycho Dad's Drunken Rant" where he gave one to Jesse. Where he openly admits that he's ashamed of his son. Also can count as Calling The Old Woman Out.
    • Jesse, in "BOILING POINT!" ultimately gave one to both Melissa and his mother. Granted it's justified since Melissa was constantly interupting the conversation between Jesse and Terry to the point is reached a Rage Breaking Point when Melessa kept pushing his Berserk Buttons on stating that it's his fault for losing $30k to his father, saying that Jesse shouldn't bother his mother, and claiming still that Jesse is going to turn out like his father.
Jesse (to Terry): "What happened to the mom that I used to love? What happened? As soon you came to this house she started poisoning your mind!" later "Mom, as soon as you got here, all you've become is a little fucking Mini-me version of her!
Jesse (to Melissa): "I came here because I just want to talk to my mom and hopefully there was some gain, some little shred of my mother that still exist. But all she is your fucking little play toy!"
Jesse (to Melissa): "I just really hope that my mom realizes how much of a negative influence you are on her life."
    • When Aunt Melissa discovered Jesse's in the RV in the back of her woods in THE DEVIL'S WOODS. Ontop of going into Psycho Dad's level of destruction. She drops a huge one right on Jesse.
    • Uncle Larry gives a HUGE one to Jeffery Sr. in CUSTODY BATTLE for the way he treats his son. This was after he found out Jeffery Sr. destroyed his RV.
  • The Teetotaler: Jesse adamantly refuses to drink alcohol.
  • The Very Definitely Final Dungeon: Jesse being locked in the closet. With all of the four-digit damage that has been going on, everyone either being unable to help or incapacitated and Jesse now being alone with only the safe on top of him moving to LA in real life, this is definitely the end.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In "Psycho Brother Stomps Glasses", Corn saves Jesse from a physical fight between him and Jeffrey by actually tackling Jeffrey. Jesse later proceeds to knock Jeffrey out with a Corona bottle.
    • In the vlog video "AUNT MELISSA FIGHTS PSYCHO DAD", Jesse runs to the defense of Aunt Melissa and tells him off for attacking her.
    • And Jesse again in "BOILING POINT!" when he Called his mother out and roasted Melissa.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Jeffrey Jr and Jesse get more and more Jerkier as the series progresses, with Jeffrey Jr arguably being the worst.
    • Jeffrey Sr. OH GOD JEFFREY SR.
    • Ever since "TAKING OUT THE TRASH", Terry (of all people) has been much more of a Jerkass towards Jesse. Though in later vlogs admitted that she wanted to distance herself from Jesse because his Hair-Trigger Temper reminded her of her ex-husband. Eventually Terry Took a Level in Kindness and reconciled with her son.
    • Tom Abraham, of all people, perhaps took two levels in jerkassness when he delivered a huge "Reason You Suck" Speech to Jesse and even banning him from visiting the Abraham Household. Granted some of the anger was justified, but he went over the top by using Intellectual Language such as "Audacity" and "Sniveling" to make himself superior over Jesse and not even letting Jesse get his word in to defend himself from Tom's accusations.
  • Took a Shortcut: Jeff Sr goes to Aunt Melissa's house - he departs before Jesse and Corn make it there, yet arrives after they do.
    • Justified in that Jesse and Corn go there more often - they were probably told of a shorter route that leads to the back, whereas Jeff Sr approaches from the front. In addition, traffic or weather could have delayed Jeff Sr.
  • Useless Spleen: Jesse mentions having a swollen spleen.
  • Voodoo Shark:
    • After the video, "Psycho Dad Wrecks Car," Jesse got a purple car which he claimed was used. However, this same car was seen in the background of several videos prior to "Psycho Dad Wrecks Car" (and was even seen in that video!), and Jesse even drives it in some older videos. The car that got destroyed, meanwhile, was not seen in any other videos.note  After this was pointed out by fans, Jesse tried to explain it away with an offhand comment, "buy this shit used off my brother. He bought it used off my mother." However, this doesn't make any sense. What was ostensibly his brother or mother's car had a "JUGGIES" license plate prior to Jesse "buying" it. Also, despite it supposedly being Jeffrey's car, Jeffrey already has a car, which has also been seen in videos prior to Jesse getting the purple car. Further adding to the confusion, in a later video, Mr. Ridgway states that he paid for the car.
    • The infamous "Psycho Kid Gets Arrested" video, which caused many fans to stop believing that the psycho series was real. The video features Jesse flipping out in a hardware store, while a woman in the background can be seen using a phone, presumably to call the police. Nine seconds later, an obviously fakenote  police officer shows up. Jesse tries to run, so the "cop" restrains him and takes him away. A lot of fans started pointing out everything wrong with the video, leading to Jesse making a follow-up video where it was revealed that the "cop" was really just a friend of Mr. Ridgway's whom he hired in order to put Jesse through a "scared straight" program. The problems arise, however, when one recalls that before the backlash, Jesse tweeted that he was at the police station, note  when later it was stated that he'd not gone to the police station at all.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Much like Stephen Quire, Jesse often takes his shirt off or strips down to his underwear for no discernible reason. Uncle Larry even lampshades this in one video.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Jesse with his dad. Jesse states many times in his videos that his father always favors Jeffrey over him, and considering how early on Jeffrey seemed like he wasn't punished as much as Jesse, this is understandable.
  • Wham Episode:
    • "Psycho Dad Grills Wii U": This video is what began the month-long "KICKED OUT" series.
    • "Psycho Dad Reacts to One Million Juggies" is a major one as well.
    • "Psycho Brother Stomps Glasses" and by extention, "PRISONER OF WAR *UPDATE*": Jeffrey is knocked out cold. Jesse and Corn lock Jeffrey in a cage. Jeffrey reveals a lot about his relationship with Mr. Ridgway.
    • "Psycho Mom Divorces Husband": After Jeffrey Sr. learns about the fight in "Psycho Brother Stomps Glasses," he goes completely apeshit on Jesse's room and busts out a window in Jesse's car, while Theresa protests the entire time until she finally tells him she wants a divorce. The rest of the video is of Jesse and Jeffrey Sr., especially the former, all but flat-out begging her to stay as she packs a back, gets in her car, and says farewell to Jesse before driving off.
    • Both "TAKING OUT THE TRASH" and "Psycho Dad's Rant" are these, showing Terry and Jeffrey Sr. being (mostly shocking for Terry) being cold to Jesse and basically giving the I Have No Son! vibe, Jeffrey Sr. especially in the latter video, even saying he's ashamed to have Jesse as a son.
    • "Psycho Dad Woodchips Wii U" and "TO THE HEAVENS! *PSYCHO UPDATE*": Jesse finds himself forced into getting a real job within the month after Jeffery Sr. annihilates his gaming collection.
    • "BREAKING POINT!" and "CUSTODY BATTLE!": Uncle Larry finally drops his calm, friendly demeanor after Jeffrey Sr. destroys his trailer.
    • "Psycho Uncle Impacts Pool": Pushed completely over the edge, Uncle Larry drives his truck into the Ridgeway pool, possibly in an attempt to flat out murder Jeffrey Sr.
    • Both "Psycho Dad Watches Mc Jugger Nuggets" and "THE HARVEST" are definitely these. The former has Jeffery Sr. gaining access to Jesse's channel and watching past videos. Jesse blames the whole thing on Corn resulting in him being banned from filming. The latter has Jesse apologizing to Corn, but later Jeff catches him, limits his filming to only a small room in the basement and only releasing one video a day. He also threatens to break the camera if Jesse films him and will keep his eye on the channel and what he uploads.
    • The video "Psycho Kid Kills Father" is this, as Jesse finally kills Jeff.
    • Another Psycho video released three hours later, "Psycho Kid Flees Country", shows such things as Jesse's inner turmoil, attempting to hang himself before reconsidering, and...revealing the entire series was fake from day one.
    • Just when everyone thought the story was over, there's the video "1 - Rebirth", which shows Jesse apparently suffering from amnesia in Switzerland, and only being able to remember his love for filming.
  • Wham Line:
    • From "Psycho Brother Stomps Glasses":
Jesse: Get the fuck off him!
    • From "Psycho Mom Divorces Husband":
Theresa: I WANT A DIVORCE! (beat) I want a divorce...
    • From "Psycho Dad Chucks Super Nintendo":
    Jeffrey Sr.: Something's wrong!
    • From "Psycho Family Hunting":
Jeffrey Jr.: I'll be moving out in a couple months!
    • From "RAGE QUIT! *PSYCHO UPDATE*" from a very unexpected person:
Corn: Are you fucking kidding me?!
    • From "WHAT I COULDN'T DO..." (following the events of "Psycho Uncle Impacts Pool"):
Uncle Larry: When you told me that your dad was out by the pool...I wanted to kill him. I think he deserves to die...and I failed.
    • From "i'm a psychopath":
Jesse: I might not be able to make videos anymore.
    • From "Psycho Kid Kills Father":
Jeffrey Sr.: I failed you. I failed you as a father. I wish it could've been better. I should've never showed you those video games.
    • From "Psycho Kid Flees Country":
    Jesse: That's it everyone. That's a wrap!
  • Wham Shot:
    • After Jesse shoots his father and drives off in "Psycho Kid Kills Father", the camera briefly cuts to Jeffery Sr. lying on the floor DEAD and BLEEDING. Talk about a wham shot!
    • The final shot in "Psycho Kid Flees Country" revealing that the series was fake all along.
    • In "THE FINAL SHOWDOWN", in a Call-Back to "Psycho Kid Flees Country", the final shot of the video is a sideways camera angle revealing that the conflict with Brian was faked. This doubles the impact of the Wham Shot, as by this point, we were lead to believe that this was an actual, real life conflict that was being documented, as the Psycho Series had come to a close and that the new videos were actually vlogs.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The series ends without resolving the issue of Uncle Larry's Sanity Slippage and Despair Event Horizon, meaning that the last time we see the much-loved Cool Uncle, he's an emotionally broken mess.
    • We never see what happened to Aunt Melissa after she smugly caused the destruction of Uncle Larry's RV. Although it is implied she forever has to live with the guilt she was another catalyst that drove Jesse into shooting Jeff, plus her suckish wedding life with Uncle George.
  • Woman Scorned: Melissa Stahlberger to Uncle Larry. The root of the tension between the two as it was reveled that the two dated in high school. While Larry moved on, Melissa still harbors the hurt from an apparent break up.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Jeffrey Sr. pulls this one when he steals Jesse's $30k for the down-payment on Buzz's house and stating that he's not going to leave the house. And when he does move out, Terry ends up kicking him out of his own house.
    • Jesse pretty much runs off with his bag of money from "Psycho Kid Moves Out", only to find that it had only two bundles of money, meaning Jesse shooting his father was pointless.
  • You Have Failed Me: Inverted, then subverted. As Jesse has Jeffrey Sr. at gunpoint in "Psycho Kid Kills Father", after he receives the code to the safe, Jesse asks his dad if he has anything to say to him before he leaves forever. Jeffrey Sr. says that he failed Jesse as a father, making it seem as if he's genuinely apologizing for all of the abuse he put him through...only to continue and say that he feels sorry because he got Jesse obsessed with video games. This is the point where Jesse finally decides to kill him.

The new series provides examples of:

    New series
  • Book Ends: Near the end, Jesse is freaking out in a field over Jeffrey Jr. telling him that he's in another series, and Jeffrey ends up knocking him out to get him to shut up. He's in just his underwear at this point, and basically in the exact same state that he's in at the start of the series.
  • Continuity Nod: Tons of them in the sequel series, as it's based around Jesse being amnesiac and trying to piece together his past, and the episodes released so far are all based around Jesse finding an item and remembering a certain event that is showed via flashback.
  • Freak Out: Jesse in "14 - ALIVE" after everyone tries convincing him that they were just characters on a show, nailed in harder by the fact that Jeffrey Sr. is back.
  • MacGuffin: The Scrabble letters Jesse keeps finding and receiving. They spell "AT VIDCON RIGHT NOW".
  • "Truman Show" Plot: The new series is something of this, since it stars an amnesiac Jesse that is surrounded by people that he associates with memories from the show, and they keep telling him that none of it was real. Once Jesse comes to terms with himself, Jeffrey Jr. tells him that he's in another series, making Jesse freak out again.
  • Wham Line:
    • From the third episode of the new unnamed series:
Jesse: I'm sorry for hitting you with the bottle.
    Jeffrey: ...That didn't happen.
    • From the 13th episode of the new series:
    Jeffrey Sr.: He's right, Jess.
  • Wham Episode:
    • "1 - Rebirth", the confirmation that Jesse's story was not yet over.
    • Episodes 5 and 6 revealed that the strange woman in Jesse's house is his mom.
    • "7 - Dependent": Uncle Larry returns.
    • "13 - The Matterhorn": Jeffrey Sr. returns.
  • Wham Shot: The appearance of several characters returning (so far, Jesse's mom, Uncle Larry, and Jeffrey Sr.), usually reserved for the final seconds of certain episodes.
  • You Wake Up in a Room: This is how the sequel series starts. Jesse wakes up in a field in Switzerland wearing nothing but his underwear and no idea who he or anyone else is, or how he got there.

The Real Life Vlogs provide examples of:

    The Real Life Vlogs
  • Affectionate Parody: The Psycho Series Role Reversals in a nutshell.
  • Take That!: In one parody video in the post-Psycho Series vids. Jesse, Jeffrey Sr., and Jesse's Girlfriend each played the role of Michael "Pickleboy" Green, Charles "Angry Grandpa" Green, and Bridgett West and parodied "ANGRY GRANDPA DESTROYS PS4" in retaliation for Michael pranking Jesse during his visit to Boogie2988.
    • A few videos began to also mock other channels, one video mocked HagyRants, a vloger who attacks and insults Jesse repeatedly and accuses him of "scamming" his fans, the Psycho Mom channel for attempting to capitalize on Jesse's Psycho series, and most recently, Tech Rex, a channel dedicated to destroying tech items.
