     General
  • All-Loving Hero: Although subverted at times, the trio tends to help each other and anyone else in need when possible, and teach the meanies a lesson.
  • Badass Adorable: Three cute little animals who shouldn't be messed with.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: Axe (beauty), Narbi (brains), and Unipuppy (brawn) respectively.
  • Big, Thin, Short Trio: Narbi (big), Unipuppy (thin) and Axe (short) respectively.
  • Black Bead Eyes: Axe and Narbi have these, although their eyes are actually very big.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Blue for Axe, turqoise for Narbi, and maybe purple or beige for Unipuppy too
  • Comic Trio: One of the most famous examples of this. It consists of Axe (the schemer), Narbi (the blind follower), and Unipuppy (the powerless straight man).
  • Dysfunction Junction: All of them have some sort of major character flaw that drives many of their antics, whether it be Narbi's shyness, Axe's boundless idiocy, or Unipuppy's sarcasm.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: The short-tempered Unipuppy (fighter), intelligent Narbi (mage) and cute Axe (thief) respectively.
  • Freudian Trio: Axe (Id), Narbi (Ego) and Unipuppy (Superego) respectively.
  • Friendly Enemy: The trio members are very friendly to everyone, even their own enemies.
  • Hero Antagonist: They tend to be this when a villain has to be a protagonist of an episode.
  • Kid Hero: Fighting supervillains as second-graders, how incredible.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between:
    • Axe (nice), Unipuppy (mean) and Narbi (in-between) respectively.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni, Purple Oni: Axe is the hyperactive red oni to Unipuppy's more sane blue and Narbi's introverted Purple.
  • Telepathy: To a degree — they have the ability to enter and share each other's dreams.
     Unipuppy Wolfcorn
Voiced by: Jayden Parfitt

A wolf-unicorn hybrid, the trio's sarcastic de-facto leader, and also a soapbox. Often laid-back and easy-going, he tries to keep Narbi and Axe under control, preventing their antics from causing chaos.

  • Anti-Hero: Oftentimes he's on his own side, and is the most antagonistic member of the trio.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He is protective, kind, and a good leader, but still good at beating up villains.
  • Blind Obedience: Whenever he asks his friends for something, they always do it.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: The Brooding Boy to Narbi's Gentle Girl.
  • Butt-Monkey: Downplayed slightly, but he often suffers a fair amount of abuse compared to his more innocent and adorable friends. He's also depicted as The Unfavorite compared to Axe and Narbi.
  • Cartoon Creature: Of the hybrid variety.
  • Deadpan Snarker: His main personality trait.
  • Determinator: He sure is persistent. However, he will give up if absolutely necessary.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Downplayed. He tends to shout orders at the other trio members in battle, but he’s not mean about it.
  • Flanderization: Since Season 5, he has become a bit more meaner and short-tempered. Additionally, and possibly due to this, his Butt-Monkey moments become more frequent. His flanderization is fairly minor compared to some other characters.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's not the meanest, but often sticks up for Narbi when he's arguing with the others. Despite this, he's loyal and supportive of his friends.
  • The Leader: Not officially, but out of the trio, he is the most level-headed and down-to-earth. He often looks out for Narbi and Axe, and despite being quite rude and arrogant at times, is protective of them.
  • Not So Above It All: A laid-back dude, who has done a lot of bad things in the show.
  • Only Sane Man: Out of the trio, he is arguably the most mature and level-headed.
  • Series Mascot: Since 2019, he is officially considered to be Cartoon Network's mascot.
  • Smug Super: Unipuppy knows how powerful he can be, and he carries this attitude.
  • The Spock: Slightly less emotional than most of his friends, but this isn't saying much.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Sounds like a grown man, and without the kid-like energy shown in the other characters' voices.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: An 8-year-old who is somewhat mature for his age.
     Narbi Baffin
Voiced by: Kimiko Glenn

The brains of the group, Narbi's an introvert who is easily scared and offended, often to the point of crying. However, she is also cute, bubbly and sweet, just like Axe but not to the same extent. Since Season 2, she has been dating with Axe.

  • Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: Narbi has white earmuffs.
  • Badass Adorable: A perfect mix of cute, shy, smart, and overpowered.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She may be innocently timid, but like the other main characters, she is extremely powerful and can knock you out.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: The Gentle Girl to Unipuppy's Brooding Boy.
  • Ditzy Genius: Until Season 5, she was this.
  • Dork Knight: Cute and nerdy.
  • Character Development: In Seasons 1-4, she was the Ditzy Genius of the group, often being too shy to really be useful. Since Season 5, her intelligence has become a lot more prominent.
  • Feminine Women Can Cook: She has an interest in baking and often makes cookies for her friends.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: Narbi likes flowers, stuffed animals, romance and kittens, but has shown a liking toward sports, video games, isn't afraid to get dirty, and even has a black belt in karate!
  • Mama Bear: Likely because they're dating together, Narbi is much more caring towards Axe than Unipuppy is (such to an idiotic degree), and is quick to foolishly call Unipuppy out whenever he abuses Axe in any way. However, in her latest appearances, she seemed to have dropped this.
  • Morality Pet: To Axe. Narbi is the only person Axe will mostly listen to or take advice from.
  • Meaningful Name: Her first name refers to her species, while her surname "Baffin" refers to Baffin Bay, a large area of water between Canada and Greenland where narwhals are common.
  • Shrinking Violet: Extremely shy, often stuttering when she talks and being easily scared and offended by a lot of things.
  • Team Mom: Cares for the two other members of the trio.
  • Token Girl: Narbi's the only female of the trio.
  • True Blue Femininity: She's the girliest of the trio and is primarily turqoise (which can be seen as a shade of blue). Her room is also decorated primarily in blue, and she often brings the color up in various situations. It makes sense considering blue represents intelligence and introvertedness.
     Axe Ogasawa
Voiced by: Kimiko Glenn

A cute little axolotl and the trio's Team Pet. Despite being a naive yet lovable idiot, he is the most gentle, caring, and playful of the squad, and a Friend to All Living Things. His cuteness and extreme stupidity have made him arguably the most popular character in the show. Ever since Season 2, he has been dating Narbi.

  • Animal Lover: Sees every creature on the earth as forgivable and adorable.
  • Animal Motifs: Despite being an axolotl, he is the most animal-like and especially likes cats; he likes to drink milk, sometimes licks things (unironically, ice cream is his favorite food), frequently walks and sits on all fours, and has a catlike sleeping position.
Narbi: You... may be an axolotl, but you're also a very cute kitty!
Axe: I like walking on all-fours because that's how my species is supposed to walk in real life! Kitties are my favorite animals anyway, so why not sleep like one too!
  • Animesque: Axe makes facial expressions similar to that of an anime character, often incorporates Japanese words into his sentences, and has a very cute voice to boot.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: He often annoys the rest of the squad with his playful antics and immense appetite. Unipuppy in particular is very irritated by him.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Partially due to his low intelligence, Axe is easily distracted, especially by things he loves like toys, candy and cute things in general.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Due to his innocence and lack of intelligence, he is sometimes overprotected by Narbi and Unipuppy.
  • Badass Adorable: Arguably the most powerful and feared out of the squad, but also the one who collects stuffed animals and draws pictures.
  • Barefoot Cartoon Animal: Primarily barefooted, though he does wear footwear if the situation warrants.
  • Berserk Button: Don't understimate or mess with him. Packrat learned that the hard way in "Battle Axe".
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's nice and childish, with a very long fuse, but it's mentioned in "Battle Axe", that on his own, "he could destroy the universe with his hardcore power", and unlike Narbi, he is capable of standing up for himself, most notably when Unipuppy teases him.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He's a lovable airhead but is able to destroy the universe at will if he gets angry enough.
  • Big Anime Eyes: The animesque Axe has big black eyes with small white pupils. This is lampshaded in "Laser Pointer", when Unipuppy calls Axe a "bug-eyed freak".
  • Big Eater: As mentioned by Narbi in "Hotdog Competition", Axe "can't go one hour without eating something".
  • Black Bead Eyes. Has extremely big black eyes with small, white pupils.
  • Blue Is Heroic: He's an entirely blue axolotl, and also the kindest and most helpful of the Uni-Squad.
  • Book Dumb: Can't even count to 18.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: He can speak Japanese, Chinese, Spanish and gibberish, and is the most powerful character in the entire show, yet he's often incompetent and always focuses on the most fun option.
  • Buffy Speak: Sometimes talks like this due to his low intelligence.
  • Butt-Monkey: He is not the most unlucky of the squad, but is considered by his friends as a constant annoyance due to his stupidity, immaturity and hyperactivity. Kinda hard to believe she ever had the ability to be a member of a moslty no-nonsense friend group. In "Baking Bad", Narbi looks at the camera and asks, "why is he even in this show?". In "Grand Slamyon", Unipuppy asks when Axe effortlessly crosses a dangerous bridge by rolling over it "why does Axe mess up when he tries and succeeds when he doesn't?".
  • Character Development: Starting with Season 5, he has become a bit more intelligent and sassy, and as a result, he's even fully aware of how insane and wacky he is, to the point that it could actually come of as hilarious. However he also has a much shorter fuse than before.
  • Cheerful Child: He is always this, and only gets upset or angry on a few occasions.
  • Child-Like Voice: Being 7-years-old, he has a voice akin to that of a little girl.
  • Chubby Chaser: He is dating Narbi, who is a slow and round narwhal.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Likely due to his stupidity, Axe has a history of exhibiting very bizarre, oddball behavior to the point it can be considered Chaotic Stupid as well.
  • Companion Cube: He can often get very attached to his stuffed animals, Octo in particular. He often snuggles with them in bed.
  • Cuddle Bug: Often likes hugging cute and pleasant things.
  • Cute Bruiser: Looks innocent but has enough power to destroy the universe.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: He normally has a very cute voice, but he tends to shriek when frustrated or excited.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Axe cannot help acting all sweet around everyone.
  • The Cutie: His innocent personality, lovable stupidity and his cheerful ways perceive him as this.
  • The Ditz: Probably one of the stupidest characters on current day television. He can't comprehend the simplest of things and uses Insane Troll Logic to get his ways.
    • For starters, he thinks the sun is a planet and stars are literally star shaped. He also thinks the Earth is flat, and he seriously tries to use this as a legit science project in "The Science Project!". After being called out by Prof. Snake by pointing out that the Earth is round, using the globe as the main point of his argument, Axe quickly decides to eschew that, and falls back on the idiocy of thinking the sun is planet and not a star, thus making the Earth a moon and the moon a sub-satellite (or a "moon-moon" as he calls it).
    • It's also a Justified Trope however, as he is still more competent than Narbi.
  • Dork Knight: Axe is a confident hero who is shy, sweet, and nerdy.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: With his cute demeanor and feminine, high-pitched voice, he's often mistaken as a female. This is lampshaded a lot in the show.
Narbi: I'm... too quiet for true love.
Axe: You'd look like the type of person I'd love forever and ever!
Narbi: But, aren't you a girl? I'm not that kind of lover.
    Axe: I'm a dude, because I'm blue and I don't wear makeup!
Narbi: I've... got a crush on you.
    Axe: Same. Let's date later!
  • Dumbass Has a Point: No matter how ditzy he can be, he does have a point in a lot of the stuff that he says.
  • Dumb Is Good: While he is laughably naive, he's arguably the nicest of the squad and much kinder than the "smart" ones of the family (e.g. Unipuppy and Narbi).
  • Everything's Better with Rainbows: Axe's signtaure Rainbow Puke.
  • Expy: His personality seems heavily derived from [[Characters/The Powerpuff Girls/The Heroes Bubbles]], a character from The Powerpuff Girls.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Axe has a habit of eating his own crayons at times.
  • Flanderization: Since Season 5, he has become slightly more uncontrollable, destructive, and purposely obnoxious with little depth beyond that.
  • The Fool: Oftentimes, he is the deliverer of "the dumb idea which saves the day", and the others rely on him to provide the solution, to the point where his idiocy is often what allows them to succeed.
Unipuppy: Like I said, a dumb idea always saves the day.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Axe has the ability to understand the emotions of animals, making him able to communicate with them.
  • Funny Foreigner: A Japanese axolotl filled with stupidity, joy and laughter.
  • Fun Personified: Axe is an adorable Cheerful Child who likes playing with his toys, drawing pictures frequently, and generally having a lot of joy, even when he has to teach the school bullies a lesson.
  • Fun with Subtitles: Whenever he speaks Japanese or Korean, English subtitles appear to translate what he's saying. This is a nod to how Japanese anime often includes English subtitles.
  • Genius Ditz: He's the most dim-witted character in the entire show. However, as mentioned below, he is an Omniglot and got a B+ on his report card once.
  • Genki Guy: Axe is easily the most excitable of the squad.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Despite being a male, he is quite feminine and loves stuffed animals, particulary his green stuffed octopus, Octo.
  • The Heart: Always strives to keep the peace between his friend whenever they start fighting. He's also quite feminine for a boy, being the cutest of the trio.
  • Heavy Sleeper: He takes a lot longer to wake up than the rest of the squad.
  • Helium Speech: His voice is extremely high-pitched and squeaky. Probably because he's voiced by a female, his voice isn't pitch-shifted and is just a really good impression (respect to Kimiko Glenn for being able to pull that off).
Unipuppy: It couldn't be worse than when Axe's singing makes our ears bleed.
    Axe (cheerfully): Ears and eyes!
  • Humble Hero: Axe is the humblest of the squad and is the one who tries to help the most.
  • The Hyena: Giggles a lot.
  • Iconic Item: Octo, his green stuffed octopus.
  • Idiot Ball: If a plot demands it. Sometimes even if a plot doesn't require it, he still gets this.
  • Idiot Hero: The least intelligent of the squad but the most altruistic and nicest.
  • Idiot Houdini: Sometimes Axe gets away with her more immoral actions despite being the nicest of the squad. Either that, or something goes right for him when he used poor judgement for it.
    • In "TV Fraud", he gets away with stealing money to donate to his favorite show, which was created by Peter to rob out of Sunnyside's children.
    • In "Smart and Smarter" he scored the highest of the squad on a test by drawing a flower on it.
  • Idiot Savant: Despite being silly and childlike, he's able to speak multiple languages, can draw highly-detailed and effortless pictures, and is among the most skilled gamers of the squad, to the point where Unipuppy considers him "his toughest rival, at video games".
  • Inelegant Blubbering: When he cries, he often does this.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Oftentimes, Axe is too childish to notice his behavior can be considered strange or annoying- take his constant singing in "The Hues".
  • Insult Backfire: Whenever insulted, Axe will always take it as a compliment. Taking it further, he mistakes projectiles thrown at him as gifts.
  • Keet: Hyper and playful.
  • Kiddie Kid: He's in second grade, what do you expect?
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: Stupid but sweet.
  • Japanese Politeness: Born in Japan, and the kindest of the squad.
  • Japanese Ranguage: Overlaps with Baby Talk and Speech Impediment, and also downplayed a lot. Despite sounding mostly American, Axe speaks in a slightly different accent, which involves him emphasizing his "S", "I"s, "L"s and "T"s differently from the other characters. This deepens his sweet, dim-witted and naive nature, and makes him a bit more juvenile than the rest of the triod. Axe says that he got his accent simply due to his Japanese heritage.
Narbi: So Axe, that cute "accent" of yours. Why do you have it?
Axe: Me and my family are from Japan! The way I speak is a foreigner's honor!
  • Literal-Minded: It's one of his main quirks, it seems.
    • In "Garage Sale", when Unipuppy is having a garage sale, Axe literally tries to sell the garage.
Unipuppy: Hey Axe, I'm selling random junk at the garage sale?
Axe: We're not selling the garage, silly! We need it to hide from the police if we commit any crimes!
  • Made of Iron: He can withstand so much physical abuse that it contradicts the laws of physics.
  • Magnetic Hero: Axe's overly nice demeanor makes him an easy target for instant friendships.
  • Motor Mouth: Sometimes talks like this when emotional.
  • Mr. Imagination: Super imaginative, to the point where he loses contact with reality.
  • No Indoor Voice: With a fair few examples;
[Narbi hides herself and Axe from the other students in fear of being bullied]
Axe (at the top of his voice): Hey Narbi! Why are you whispering?
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Like with Narbi, he has a slightly more chibified design than the other characters.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Despite being naive and gullible, he's actually shown to be smart on occasion, such as in "The Spelling Bee", when he spells "pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis" correctly and wins the competition. The end of "Battle Axe" also reveals that the reason that he acts so foolish all the time is because he's simply trying to make people laugh and to be "the funny one".
  • Ocular Gushers: Often an Exaggerated Trope. When he cries, he shoots literall waterfalls from his eyes, often flooding the place.
  • Overly-Long Tongue: Has this beacuse Rule of Funny. He often sticks it out, particulary when he's happy.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Hard to find anything to wipe that grin off of his face.
  • Ping Pong Naïveté: Depending on the Writer, Axe's overall intelligence varies between episodes. Most episodes depict him as a silly, completely mindless cutie, while a majority of the rest put him as a Genius Ditz.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Along with Unipuppy's wisecracks, Axe's stupidity is one of the most prominent jokes in the entire show.
  • The Pollyanna: He's the most optimistic and idealistic of the squad.
  • Reclusive Artist: Great at drawing but also a bit of an introvert.
  • Rainbow Puke: One of his signature traits.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: He could make even the most cold of people go "Awww!".
  • Rubber Man: Downplayed a little. Axe does not possess any bones but his body is able to stretch, be squished, and bend in any way the other characters can't possibly do.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: Again, he's this due to his silliness. He's also oblivious to metaphors.
Unipuppy (sarcastically): You're definitely the smartest guy I know.
Axe: Thanks Unipuppy! Your words are so cute!
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: When he screams, it's so loud and high-pitched that glass can shatter.
  • Sibling Team: Has six siblings, who were all born within the same minute. Axe is actually the youngest of his siblings, born 59 seconds after his oldest brother, Almond.
  • Smart Ball: When a plot demands it, Axe can become intelligent enough to outsmart the others (except for Narbi).
  • Smart Jerk Nice Moron: The nice moron to Narbi's smart jerk. While Axe lacks a critical mind, hia good intentions more than make up for it, in contrast to the brainy Narbi, who is nowhere near a jerk but is more serious and critical than Axe.
  • Super Gullible: To say that he's easy to fool would be an understatement.
  • Super Not-Drowning Skills: He's a very good swimmer and can breathe underwater. He's an axolotl, what do you expect?
  • Surrogate Soliloquy: With Octo.
  • Team Pet: Of all the members of the Uni-Squad (who are all human-like animals), he's the cutest and most animal-like.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Loves ice cream, pancakes and marshmallows.
  • Too Dumb to Fool: Sometimes, his ditziness means he doesn't fall for certain tricks, which is why the villains have a hard time winning against him.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Axe is too oblivious to actually notice danger on his own.
[Axe gleefully bounds ahead upon hearing of the perilous danger]
Unipuppy: Is he brave or is he stupid?
    Narbi: He's Axe.
  • Toon Physics: The most frequent user of these.
  • True Blue Femininity: He's a bit feminine and is entirely blue.
  • Three-Fingered Hands: Constantly lampshades that he has them. Apparently, he only has an index finger, a thumb and a pinky.
  • Vocal Dissonance: A 7-year-old boy, with a feminine and squeaky voice.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: He can bend reality by using the idealism in his mind to grant him a naive outlook.
  • Wing Ding Eyes: In keeping with his cute animesque heritage, his eyes can change to different symbols.
     Puffy
Voiced by: Eric Bauza

A pufferfish who's a sickeningly nice person. He's romantically interested in Spike the thorny lizard, which has rather obvious problems.

  • All-Loving Hero: There isn't a single person Puffy has refused to act kind and charitable toward: not even people who are currently beating him up. It usually pays off eventually: in one episode where Unipuppy effectively ruined his life, Puffy himself is blessed with a massive string of fortunate Laser-Guided Karma that effectively acted as a Reset Button.
  • Apologizes a Lot: Apologizes so much that he even apologizes for apologizing all the time.
  • Barrier Maiden: Puffy does so much volunteer work that when he stops it, everything turns to anarchy.
  • Butt-Monkey: He's basically The Chew Toy and an Extreme Doormat for Unipuppy.
