Riddles for the Ages in Western Animation.

The Simpsons has its own page.

  • The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius: In "Holly Jolly Jimmy", Jimmy explains why he doesn't believe in Santa Claus. Two years prior, he wrote Santa asking for a core sample from Dwarf Star NG 738. He opened his present and there was no dwarf star sample. It's never revealed what he got instead. The only clue we have is that later, when Santa is revealed to actually exist, he says Jimmy was in his naughty list a few times. So he might have gotten coal.
  • Adventure Time: Naturally, a show so weird and steeped in its own mythology is bound to have its own set of mysteries:
    • We have a basic idea of the pre-history of the Land of Ooo. Still, what exactly from the Great Mushroom War fallout caused the world to mutate from human civilization into bizarro sentient lifeform potpourri?
    • The Great Mushroom War itself is a mystery. Why was it started? Who started it? How did a government create a bomb containing the Lich in the first place? Nothing about the War is told, only that it happened, and Word of God says that it isn't important to know.
    • For a single episode example that will definitely never be explained, was Phlannel Boxingday in "Lemonhope: Part 2" actually Princess Bubblegum in disguise, as is broadly hinted?
    • How did Billy know Finn's biological father was alive?
    • In the episode "Crossover", cosmic entity Prismo emphasizes to Finn and Jake that he has a boss whom he really doesn't want to cross. Prismo is a Reality Warper capable of wiping out all life or creating entire universes on a whim, which really makes you (and Jake, in-universe) wonder who his boss could be...
  • The Amazing World of Gumball: Although there is an episode that explains how the Wattersons adopted Darwin, we still don’t know about his true origins. What kind of fish is he? Who is his biological family? How did he end up in the Awesome Store?
  • Amphibia:
    • Who was Hop Pop’s first wife, and what happened to her?
    • Besides Aldrich, which individuals make up The Core?
    • In the Grand Finale, The Guardian tells Anne that they have entrusted the power of the Calamity Gems to many individuals, though, out of all of them, Anne is the only one to use the gems to do good. What other individuals did The Guardian assign the gems to, and want malicious deeds did they use them for?
    • When sending Anne and the Plantars through the portal to Earth, what did Marcy need to do with the Calamity box before Andrias stabbed her in the back?
  • The Angry Beavers: In the episode "Stare and Stare Alike!", what was the prize for the staring contest, and who was the winner?
  • Archer:
    • Who is Archer's father? The currently known candidates are Jakov, Len Traxler, Buddy Rich, and an unnamed Italian man. His real father actually appears in a flashback in "Once Bitten". He never says his name and his face isn't shown, but judging by his voice he isn't any of the aforementioned candidates. Archer is about to say his name after waking up, but forgets before he gets the chance. And then there's the implication that the flashback was All Just a Dream.
    • What was in Kenny Loggins' briefcase that cast a purple glow?
    • What was Cyril's name for having stir fry on Fridays before Archer suggests Stir-Friday?
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender
    • The original series:
      • Who were Aang's parents? Since Aang was raised by monks, all we really know about his parents is that they died in the Air Nomad genocide like the rest of the Airbenders.
      • Why do the Gan-Jins and Zhangs really hate each other so much?
      • What was Combustion Man's real name and how did he become what he was?
      • What happened to Little Nini and her family during the snowstorm in the Southern Water Tribe and where did she go when she vanished from the house?
    • The Legend of Korra: When Mako and Bolin are kidnapped by The Red Lotus, Bolin, being the kind of cute dorky guy that he is, asks what they did to pass the time while they were in prison. When Ming-Hua answers that she made up stories about the guards, Bolin thinks that's fun and tries it on Ghazan. Bolin guesses that Ghazan was raised by an older sister, had his moustache grown in when he was 10, and that there's an unspoken attraction between him and Ming-Hua. Ghazan replies that Bolin got two out of three in an amused tone, but doesn't elaborate further. Which two of Bolin's guesses were true and which one was false?
  • Used for a character but not the audience in the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Riddler's Reform". When Batman is able to escape the Riddler's deathtrap of sealing him in a building that has high explosives in it, the Riddler is so bewildered by Batman's escape that he no longer cares about going to Arkham or losing his now legitimate business and lifestyle and only cares about finding out how Batman was able to survive a trap he clearly shouldn't have been able to. While Bruce later explains it to Dick Grayson — and the audience — back at Wayne Manor, he never explains it to the Riddler himself. Mr. Nygma ends up going even more insane due to not getting an explanation. He didn't escape in time — he just climbed inside a safe and survived the explosion.
  • Batman Beyond refers several times to a Great Offscreen War known as "The Near-apocalypse of '09", but gives very few details, apart from the fact that the notoriously unkillable Ra's Al-Ghul was supposedly killed during it. The conflict's exact nature is never explored in any part of the DC Animated Universe.
  • Ben 10:
  • Beavis And Butthead: Who takes care of Beavis and Butthead? Do they both share the same mother? In the first movie, they meet a pair of roadies who are heavily hinted to be their fathers, but the vague way they tell the story of how they probably conceived Beavis and Butthead muddies it all at best.
  • Big City Greens:
  • Bluey: Was Chilli the one who broke Bandit's jinx in Fairytale?
  • Bojack Horseman:
    • Who or what is Erica, and what's her history with Mr. Peanutbutter? If she's an animal, what species is she?
    • In "Pricky Muffin", What does O-M-M-F-C-S-D-V-R-Q-Q-P-Q-F-G stand for?
    • In "The Horny Unicorn", what did Hollyhock write to BoJack in her letter? Not even the series finale reveals it.
  • The Boondocks:
    • Who's The White Shadow? What's his deal? Why's he only seen by Huey Freeman who gave him the moniker of White Shadow in the first place? He's supposed to be a government agent assigned "by the powers that be" to keep tabs on Huey and that's all we know about him. Huey even wonders if The White Shadow is simply a figment of his (increasingly paranoid) imagination. The show never denied or confirmed this.
    • In "Riley Wuz Here," it's never explicitly stated who the subjects of Riley's final mural are, with Granddad's reaction suggesting the mural is based on a wedding photo of either the boys' otherwise unseen parents or Robert himself with his (presumably deceased) wife.
  • Chowder: Where exactly are the parents of the apprentices (Chowder, Panini, Gorgonzola)? What drove the latter to start living with their mentors?
  • Clarence: Whatever became of Clarence's actual dad?
  • Code Lyoko: What exactly does Jérémie look like on Lyoko? All we have to go on is Odd and Ulrich's claim that he looks "ridiculous".
  • Codename: Kids Next Door:
    • What was it the Delightful Children did that made Numbuh 1 bald, and why does Numbuh 5 blame herself for it?
    • What does the Fourth Basic Flavor of ice cream taste like? The closest thing we get to details on this is in The Movie, where Monty Uno remarks it tastes similar to "blurpleberry"... an entirely fictional fruit for which we also have no point of reference for its taste.
  • The Critic, What is the true story of Vlada finding the flight recorder of Franklin and Eleanor's plane?
  • Dave the Barbarian: Why did Dave tie up a squirrel to a megaphone?
  • Duckman: How is Beatrice still alive, and why didn't Cornfed say anything when he apparently knew all along?
  • DuckTales (2017):
    • Where were SHUSH when F.O.W.L. resurfaced in the final season?
    • If Webby was actually made by F.O.W.L., then who were the people in the photo she thought were her parents?
    • What happened to Quackmore and Hortense? The Art of Ducktales revealed they were still alive but not much else.
    • What is the origin of the Bombie?
    • Did Della ever find out Scrooge and Donald separated after The Spear of Selene?
    • Why does Della know Beakley is Agent 22 but not Donald?
    • Who is the triplet's biological father and what happened to him?
    • Is Bradford Isabella Finch's biological grandson or was he adopted?
    • Why did they make another Bradford clone when the Big Bad's plan would have made it moot?
  • Ed, Edd n Eddy:
  • The Fairly OddParents!:
    • What are the names of Timmy's parents? Lampshaded in the episodes "Father Time" and "Shelf Life", which either mute out their names or cut things off right before they're revealed.
    • Who is the mother of Timmy's children Tommy and Tammy at the end of Channel Chasers? note
    • Why was Mr. Crocker banned from Cincinnati, and why do the people there seem to hate him so much?

    • Why do Fanboy and Chum Chum live together despite being unrelated to each other?
    • What are FB and CC's secret identities?
  • Futurama:
    • "Fry and the Slurm Factory": Where does toothpaste come from?
Slurm Queen: You don't wanna know!
    • "Future Stock": How and when did giant carrots take over the world?
    • "The Why of Fry":
      • What was the mission that Leela and Bender went on without Fry, and what did they get the medals for?
      • What does Nibbler mean when he speculates that Leela is "the Other", in terms of her connection to Fry's status as "the Mighty One"?
    • "Into The Wild Green Yonder":
      • Which one of the two ancient animal species evolved into the Encyclopod and which one evolved into the Dark One?
      • Why did the Green Chi that used to permeate throughout the universe suddenly vanish? And why did it return eons later?
      • Why did the Encyclopod took a human DNA sample when it only takes the DNA of endangered animals? Fry asks this very question, but the Encyclopod leaves without answering.
    • "Overclockwise": What exactly is Fry and Leela's ultimate fate?
  • Gravity Falls
    • At the end of "Northwest Mansion Mystery", it's implied that the Northwest family has a connection to Bill Cipher. Exactly what that connection is is never explained, although like the question below it may be intended to remain a mystery.
    • The last episode, "Weirdmageddon Part 3: Take Back the Falls", has a dying Bill Cipher cry out out a backward message to "Axolotl" that he might return. By the creator's admission, this was written as something he could write about laternote, but just as well leave as a mystery.
Alex Hirsch: I like stories that complete their emotional arcs, but still leave some lingering threads to chew on. It gives the fans something to theorize on, and it gives me a window back into that world if I ever choose to return to it.
    • We also have yet to find out what that Zodiac does...
  • Hey Arnold!:
    • What was the identity and nature of the mysterious tenant Mr. Smith?
    • What happened to Frankie G.? Did he get caught by the police? Subsequent episodes from Frankie’s only appearance occasionally showed his lackeys casually strolling about, but suspiciously without him on the lead.
  • I ♡ Arlo:
    • Why is Arlo an alligator boy, and how did his half-animal hybrid friends and father come to be?
    • Who is Arlo's mother?
  • Infinity Train: We never learn who or what built the Train or why they would want to solve humans' emotional problems. We also never get clarification on if the Train is just a machine that does its job automatically, or if it is actually conscious and able to make decisions.
  • Invader Zim:
  • It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown: Since Snoopy only stole the gang's eggs and threw them around and gave them back to them, whatever did he do with Charlie Brown's egg...?
  • Jimmy Two-Shoes:
    • What is the nature of Miseryville, and where did Jimmy come from? Most fans believe Miseryville is Hell and that Jimmy came to the place by accident, as that was the original pitch, but the show itself never indicates whether that's canon or not.
    • Who is Beezy's mother/Lucius's (possibly ex-)wife? Beezy talked to his grandmother on the phone in an early episode, so clearly Heinouses do have mothers/wives, but other than that, we don't have much to go on. Incidentally, Beezy's mom/Lucius's wife existed in the original concept, but over time, transformed into Lucius's Rich Bitch girlfriend Jez.
  • Johnny Bravo: Just how does Johnny look without his sunglasses?
  • Kiff: What was the cause of Kiff's Ear Notch? It's only known she wasn't born with it, as several flashbacks have shown a younger Kiff without it.
  • Kim Possible:
    • Why is Dr. Drakken's skin blue? Flashbacks show that it wasn't always that way, and when all of Drakken's evilness got transferred into Ron, Ron gradually turned blue while the now-good Drakken gradually went back to his original skin color, but that just raises more questions. In the series finale, Drakken starts to explain the story by saying "It was a Tuesday-" before he's cut off by the end of the show. The closest we get to an answer arguably comes from a scene where Kim's dad (who is revealed to have been colleagues with Drakken before the latter turned evil) notes that Drakken wasn't always blue, to which Drakken replies that he "was always blue on the inside" (and even this might be an unrelated metaphor, given how he immediately moves into talking about how hurt he felt when his friends laughed at his robot girlfriend project).
    • Where are Team Go's parents?
  • Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts:
    • The nature of the apocalypse that occurred 200 years before the beginning of the show. None of the characters in-universe know what caused it either. Creator Rad Sechrist and producer Bill Wolkoff deliberately stuck to this trope because whatever they'd decide on would inevitably be too divorced from the main plot to matter and no answer would satisfy all the fans anyway. All of the show's writers each had their own personal theories, from solving world hunger gone wrong to a supernatural act of nature against humanity, but none are official.
    • What is the method to permanently kill Dave's species?
  • Love, Death & Robots:
  • Men in Black: The Series: If Santa isn't an alien then what is he?
  • Metalocalypse: What was the Whale Prophet, exactly? This is one of the few questions left unanswered by the finale; all we know is that she's even more powerful than Mister Salacia.
  • Mighty Max: Who is the Skullmaster's superior?
  • The Modifyers: What was Agent Xero going to ask the location the All-Seeing Eye before getting interrupted?
  • Motorcity: What is the true identity of Red?
  • My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic:
    • The Winged Unicorns Celestia and Luna are practically Physical Gods. Where do they come from? The Journal of the Two Sisters suggests they were born to other alicorns (the show's name for Winged Unicorns), but the Season 6 premiere has Celestia and Luna say that alicorn births are beyond their understanding, so it seems like there's no hurry to specify their histories.
    • Moons as units of time have appeared several times in the show, and seem to be some type of microts, but the show staff have deliberately avoided specifics. It doesn't help that the moon doesn't follow a natural cycle in the series, but is manually controlled by the sisters above.
    • How did Spike's egg end up in Canterlot? Even though a dragon passed off as his dad in "Father Knows Beast", it ends with everyone none the wiser.
    • How did Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle meet? Their first appearances have them already be friends when meeting Apple Bloom, but how they met before then is never addressed.
    • If the Grogar we saw was just a persona used by Discord, then what happened to the real Grogar? Is he even still alive?
  • The Owl House:
    • What happened to The Collectors, and where did The Collector in the actual show fly off to after the events of the series?
    • Since King is a Titan, what will he look like once he’s fully grown?
    • What is it with the black worm that’s inside King’s Dad’s eye socket, and why does it look like Hooty?
    • Why were Giraffes banished from the Demon Realm?
  • The Penguins of Madagascar: What was the Copenhaggen Incident that prevented Skipper from stepping foot in Denmark?
  • In the Pepper Ann episode "T.G.I.F.", why and how did Pepper Ann faking being sick to avoid taking a test she didn't study cause her to be stuck in a "Groundhog Day" Loop? And how did she get out of the second one she found herself stuck in at the end of the episode?
  • Phineas and Ferb:
    • In-Universe example: Where exactly do their projects disappear to every day? They even try to work it out in the episode "Don't Even Blink", but (un)fortunately Doof was working on an invisibility/destruct-inator that day, so they never find out.
    • What is the giant creepy floating baby head? Why does it keep showing up? Lampshaded in the Grand Finale, "Last Day of Summer":
We met Klimpaloon, Meap, and the Lake Nose Monster, but we're still baffled by the Giant Floating Baby Head
    • In a similar vein, the inexplicable talking Zebra that calls Candace "Kevin". Only Candace ever seems to see it, and it only appears when she's hallucinating, dreaming, thinks she's hallucinating or dreaming, or when somebody else is dreaming that she's dreaming. That said, he also appeared in a parallel universe. Why can it talk? Why does it seem to know Candace? Why does it call her Kevin? In the strictest sense, it's just Rule of Funny, but still.
    • How does Doof know Perry's real name if Perry's superiors only address him as "Agent P" and Perry himself can't talk?
    • In "The Secret to Success", what did FREEPO actually stand for?
  • The Powerpuff Girls: What is HIM's real name? Apparently learning it will drive you insane and saying it will make you explode.
  • Rainbow Brite: Who was that mysterious voice speaking to Rainbow in "The Beginning of Rainbowland"? While it does start speaking again after Rainbow finds the Sphere of Light, it did speak at the start of the two-parter before Rainbow began her journey.
  • Ready Jet Go!:
    • What happened to Sean's dad, Sydney's dad, Mindy's parents, Mitchell's mom, and Lillian's parents?
    • Does Lone Star have future vision?
    • What happened to Mitchell that made him have self-esteem issues and a mean streak as a result?
    • What are the other 8 Bortrons like? In particular Bortrons 8 and 9.
  • In the Ren & Stimpy "Adult Party Cartoon" episode "Ren Seeks Help", just what did Ren do to Stimpy that was so horrible?
  • Rick and Morty:
    • In the episode "Claw And Hoarder: Special Ricktims Morty", just what was the origin of the talking cat? All we know is it's things man was not meant to know and that it horrified both Rick and Jerry, the latter having his memory erased of it by the former to spare him the pain of knowing.
    • In the episode "Star Mort: Rickturn of the Jerri", which Beth was the original Beth and which one was a clone? The end of the episode reveals that Rick shuffled both the real Beth and clone Beth while not looking, then erased his memory of the event altogether, meaning not even he knows which is which. Not even the writers have a clue about it.note
  • Rocko's Modern Life:
  • Samurai Jack:
    • What is Jack's real name? Neither the original nor the revival series answer this. In "Jack Under the Sea", it's briefly hinted at by Jack himself, but he stops after the first letter. All we know is it starts with a G.
    • In "Episode XCVII", who was the person who told Ashi where Jack went to?
    • Just what was the deal with the Omen, exactly?
    • What did the Scotsman do to become the (second) "Most Wanted Man on the Planet"?
  • The Secret Show:
  • She-Ra: Princess of Power: Who is the Red Knight? The episode in which he appears hints at King Micah (Queen Angela's husband), but a later episode negates this possibility by having Micah being a prisoner of a villainess for years, including the time period when the Red Knight was around.
  • Sofia the First: How can anyone's life be saved nine and a half times?
  • Space Ghost Coast to Coast: What does Moltar look like? In "Intense Patriotism", Space Ghost describes him as red with no neck, but in the same episode, he takes off his helmet and his head is shown with a bright light that gradually washes out the screen.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants:
    • What is the secret formula of the Krabby Patty? One episode confirmed that salt is an ingredient in it, but other than that, we're still just as in the dark as Plankton is.
    • Who is Pearl's mother, and why is she a whale when her father is a crab? One of series creator Stephen Hillenburg's mandates is that Pearl's mother can never appear.
    • In “F.U.N”, when Plankton is singing his verse of the “F.U.N song,” he says, “F is for Fire that burns down the whole town! U is for Uranium! Bombs! N is for no survivors… when you…” What was he going to say after that had SpongeBob not interrupted him?
    • In "Survival of the Idiots", Who are Dirty Dan and Pinhead Larry, exactly? Are they just imaginary figments of Sandy's dream, or are they, as SpongeBob theorizes, an old, traumatic memory from Texas?
    • In "The Secret Box," what does the embarrassing snapshot of SpongeBob at the Christmas party look like?
    • In “Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy V”, Squidward says that he can think of three good reasons as to why superheroes would run around in colored undies. We never find out what those reasons are.
    • "The Battle Of Bikini Bottom", What was the Battle of Bikini Bottom actually fought over?
  • Star vs. the Forces of Evil: What were Toffee's plans before he died? What did he mean by his last words, "Only I know how this turns out"?
  • Steven Universe:
    • When Steven first enters the Pocket Dimension in Lion's mane, one of the things inside is a small, locked chest. After all the other objects are explained, the chest is given attention much later on in "Lion 4: Alternate Ending", when Steven fails to open it with a giant key Lion gave him. In The Movie, set after a two-year Time Skip, a Meaningful Background Event reveals the chest to have been opened in the interim... but neither the movie nor Steven Universe: Future give any hint about what was inside.
    • The Steven Universe: Future episode "Volleyball" focuses on Steven trying to fix the scars on the face of the eponymous character. After the climax of the episode, we can't see if it was healed because Volleyball's face is obscured, and remains as such for all background appearances.
    • We never learn Mystery Girl's actual name or if Pearl ever went out with her.
    • When we see the inside of Pearl's headspace, she has a dozen phone numbers from humans that really want her to call with a few even kissing the paper. Does she know what those are for and is she actually involved with any of those people?
    • Gems are an inorganic, artificial species that do not and cannot reproduce naturally (Steven being the Half-Human Hybrid son of the single exception). Making more of themselves requires specialized machines that drain the life from whole planets, rendering them uninhabitable. So how did the first Gems come into existence?
  • Strawberry Shortcake: Despite his nature as one of her friends, Plum Puddin' failed to stay with the titular protagonist's gang after some time in the 1980's series. What happened? And where did his female replacement come from?
  • Teen Titans (2003):
    • The exact nature of Slade himself is never revealed, and given his liberal use of robot doubles, this includes how many times we've seen the real one. In the comics he is simply Slade Wilson, a mercenary and criminal mastermind also known as Deathstroke, but it is never stated if this is true for the animated version as well.
    • Does the show take place in the DC Animated Universe? The creators have never answered this. There are a few characters that have the same voice actors, possibly implying it does.
    • The episode "X" involves Red X (a supervillain identity Robin had previously invented as part of The Mole plan) showing up, with someone we can be pretty darn sure is not Robin under the signature Red X suit. Fans have wondered for some time who the new Red X really is, and Beast Boy came up with a number of theories, but Word of God says Raven came to the only conclusion that mattered:
Raven: Face it, Red X could be anyone. Anyone smart enough to find the suit and dumb enough to take it for a joyride.
    • In "Haunted", Cyborg mentions the Slade hallucinations were triggered by an outside source. "Birthmark" features Slade just getting resurrected, so it couldn't have been him. Who triggered them and why?
    • The episode "Revved Up" revolves around Robin trying to get back a briefcase that Ding Dong Daddy has stolen from him. When asked what's inside it, Robin just says, "It's personal." When the briefcase is finally opened, its lid fills the entire screen, causing a Smash to Black, the end of the episode, and legions of fanboys/girls demanding to know, "What's in the frikkin' briefcase!!!" Possibly a Shout-Out to Pulp Fiction, where there's also a briefcase integral to the plot that we never find out the contents of.
    • "Things Change":
      • Was the mysterious girl really a resurrected Terra?
      • Beast Boy encounters a Sladebot telling him to leave Terra alone. What happened to the real Slade and why does he care about Terra?
  • Transformers: Animated: What part of Starscream's personality does Slipstream represent? Art director Derick J. Wyatt started out responding noncommittally to fan questions about it, but eventually got so tired of it he just started agreeing automatically to every new theory put to him, no matter how ludicrous or contradictory.
  • Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015): While the two-part finale reveals the most of the Autobots (including Team Prime) became blacklisted by the Hight-Council (In actuality, the High Council are a group of Decepticons masquerading as them.), the show never reveals what happened to Raf, Jack and Miko from Transformers: Prime.
  • Thomas & Friends: Why exactly did the Spiteful Brake Van hate Douglas and Donald so much?
  • Vampirina: What happened to Poppy and Edgar's dad?
  • The Venture Bros.:
    • What did Rusty Venture do to make the Monarch hate him so much? Lampshaded in one episode when Tim-Tom and Kevin question Dr. Girlfriend about it, only to realise they're not going to get a straight answer from her. Later reveals not only make clear that even Monarch himself doesn't know why he hates him, but also that it's probably some kind of unconscious Sibling Rivalry, given that Rusty and Monarch are almost certainly half-brothers.
    • What was the purpose and function of the ORB? Who built it? Nobody knows and nobody ever will know now. This one is notable because it goes unanswered expressly because The Unreveal would annoy fans.
    • Who was really behind the Movie Night Massacre that killed Jonas Venture Sr. (along with a bunch of OSI agents and a few supervillains) and kickstarted the Pyramid Wars? Initially it seemed that SPHINX was behind it, but it is later confirmed that they were framed and the real culprit was never found, with many characters having been shown to have both motive to bump Jonas off and ability to do so. The current prime suspect is Vendata/Blue Morpho, who is known to have been present that night, to have personally encountered Jonas, and to have every reason to want him dead, but even this is all ambiguous because Vendata vehemently insists that he did not cause the massacre, even when he has no reason to lie about it.
  • Xavier: Renegade Angel: What the hell is Xavier? And how did two seemingly normal humans have one as a child?
  • Wander over Yonder: What is Wander's real name? And where was he from? What was his family like, especially his parents? Is he the Last of His Kind? How old is he? Everything about Wander's nature is so steeped in mystery that it seems like he's actively trying to keep it under wraps.
  • WordGirl:
    • What exactly were Word Girl's beginnings on Lexicon like, and what's her kind like? "Word Girl Makes A Mistake" gives us a bit of context, revealing that Captain Huggy Face was one the best pilots on the planet, but as an infant, Word Girl snuck onto a spaceship Huggy was flying and startled him, leading them to crash and onto Earth and get adopted by Tim and Sally Botsford. However, viewers are still left with a lot of questions, such as who Word Girl's biological parents are, if they're still alive for that matter, and why they never tried looking for their long-lost daughter.
    • On a related note, how old is Captain Huggy Face, really? Based on the flashback scene, he was presumably already an adult when Word Girl was simply an infant, but we're never given an exact age.
