The Five Nights at Freddy's game series has been subject to a lot of this on YouTube, 4chan, Twitter, Tumblr, and so much more, so there are many cases that stand out.

In General
- Are You Ready For Freddy?/GET READY 4 FREDDYExplanationOriginally from name of the song by The Fat Boys, the phrase and variants thereof became commonly associated with the games. On TV Tropes, image captions for official Five Nights at Freddy's works usually make a reference to it in some way.
- On social media sites, "[insert robot name here] is following you" is portrayed as Paranoia Fuel played for giggles.
- "IT'S ME."ExplanationInitially, this was Golden Freddy's Character Catchphrase/Arc Words. It's memetic enough to be, as of date, on top of the search list of Google Search.
- The fan.ExplanationThe fan that appears in your room appears in every game for some reason. MatPat of Game Theory especially loves to point out the fan and treat it as if it were the scariest thing in the series. This got to the point where people made jokes about how the fan is the one being referred to in the Five Nights at Freddy's 3 trailer. (shudders)''
- ;)ExplanationScott often uses this emoticon in most comments and replies he makes, usually in a teasing sort of way. This has mutated to a point where you could actually use this emoticon as a flair on the FNaF subreddit.
- [x] with FNAF ambience ExplanationA trend of videos where unsettling images are accompanied by the eerie ambience sounds from the series, the hallway alarm from 2 being the most popular choice.
- It has become quite popular to edit the Customize Night screen in FNAF and FNAF 2 such that it becomes a magnificent abomination of vulgar humor◊, in the style of Expand Dong. And now, this has expanded to trailer screenshots, teaser images, and even in-game screens.
- The Joy Of Creat-SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! ExplanationThe ending of the reading used in the Night 5 phone call from the first game when it is decoded.note The in-game version is garbled and features animatronic screams. Became Hilarious in Hindsight upon the release of The Joy of Creation: Reborn, which the line might have inspired.
- William Afton is a Furry. ExplanationWilliam's M.O. as a Serial Killer involves dressing as a rabbit character to lure children. He has subsequently been associated with Spring Bonnie and rabbits as a whole, and seems to think of Spring Bonnie as an alter ego/extension of himself rather than a mere disguise. This has led to obvious jokes about William being a member of the Furry fandom, with Spring Bonnie as his fursona. The introduction of "Glitchtrap" in Help Wanted didn't help matters, being a digital apparition of Afton in a literal rabbit mascot suit.
- Vanessa got forcibly made into a furry. ExplanationThe same joke is also extended towards Vanny, on the grounds of being a copycat killer who also wears a rabbit costume, sometimes with jokes that a symptom of her being Brainwashed and Crazy is her becoming a furry.
- William finding new ways to come Back from the Dead. ExplanationWilliam's seemingly never-ending Joker Immunity is just one of the many ways the fanbase has been torn to shreds, with some fans wishing he would just stay dead. This sparked many memes that mock the new, insane ways William could return once again, suching as him coming back as a living pile of ash or a single arm. Sometimes, fans also add something like "Five Nights at Freddy's 48: William's At It Again", as another way of joking about how he will keep coming back for years.
- I always come back! ExplanationWilliam's Badass Boast that first appeared in Pizzeria Simulator and since then became his de facto catchphrase. Fans usually tend to add this to the joke. This joke has not been forgotten with the revelations in Security Breach.
- Springtrap in the next gameExplanationSeeing that Springtrap is notably more damaged in his appearance here thanks to the fire, it's not uncommon for someone to joke about William's next incarnation being a pile of ashes, using the fact that he always comes back as the excuse.
- Dead kids, dead kids everywhere!ExplanationSuffice to say, it's harder to find an entry in the franchise where a kid doesn't end up dying. The fans took note of this and started making jokes about this, usually finding a way to put William into them.
- Bready◊, an image of bread with a twisted version of Freddy's face, has spread on multiple sites, though mostly on DeviantArt.
- FNAF Beatbox ExplanationA tiktok from the user @abdul_cisse beatboxing the FNAF theme by The Living Tombstone, which has been reposted and mutated (usually made faster) for not only how good it is, but also just how naturally memetic beatboxing is, it's even been used in parody fanimations. The Ruin DLC of Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach would even reference the meme (albeit in an unused clean version), courtesy of Glamrock Freddy beatboxing the Toreador March notes as part of the "Happy Fazbear Birthday" song.
- FNAF but old-timey. ExplanationIn 2021 it became a TikTok trend to play a specific rendition of the Toreador March while roleplaying out the games' events in a stereotypically old-timey way, such as referring to the cast with titles like "Lavender Fellow" or "Lord Frederick Fazbear the III", or otherwise acting like it takes place during long-gone eras with appropriate tech. One copypasta even has the meme spoken from the perspective of Marcus Plier.
- Commenting "Lord Frederick Fazbear the III" with a timestamp of the infamous part (usually 1:34) on a video of the Toreador March is also popular.
- There's been a popular fan-made gif of Withered Freddy (albeit in "unwithered" form) doing The Rock's famous "People's Eyebrow" face while wearing a pair of sunglasses. Which has made rounds around the fandom, although most videos or gifs of the meme intentionally make it low quality.
- The Taliban watching the US deploy Freddy Fazbear. ExplanationFor some reason, people have started joking that the US will deploy Freddy himself to fight the Taliban, adding short gifs to show the Taliban's Oh, Crap! reaction.
- Freddy being deployed against the Russians. ExplanationA mutation of the above meme, to fit in with the Ukraine-Russian conflict, with Freddy usually being on Ukrainian's side and being deployed to protect it against the Russian invaders. This meme would turn Freddy into a bonafide (but obviously parodical) Memetic Badass.
- FNAF fan songs in general. ExplanationThe FNAF fandom is notable in that it not only has an extremely active fan song community, but many of the songs qualify as Awesome Music and/or are catchy. Naturally, this leads to mashups, memes, and parodies of some of the more notable songs, with some fans Waxing Lyrical as a joke. "It's Been So Long" by The Living Tombstone (see FNAF2) is the most famous example, but "The Five Nights At Freddy's Song" also by The Living Tombstone (the first of the bunch to actually appear in official media due to its use in Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)), "I Got No Time" which is also by The Living Tombstone, "Join Us For A Bite" by JT Music, and "Darkest Desire" by Dawko are also popular candidates for memery. On the other end of the scale, there's stuff like "Five Nights at Freddy's 3 the Musical" (see FNAF3).
- COCK?!?!?!?!?ExplanationPairing◊ images of surprised FNaF characters with captions expressing shock at various sexual body parts (or, in Fredbear's case, the frontal lobe) has gained popularity as an ironic meme, sometimes used to react to pictures of said body parts.
- Feddy ExplanationAn intentional and humorous misspelling of Freddy which is usually associated with a poorly drawn yet rather cute chibified version of Freddy often juxtaposed to a part of Living Tombstone's FNAF 1 song.
- This has also led to a bunch of people trying to replicate the artstyle and the intentional misspelling of names with other Freddy's or animatronics in the series.
- The Shit of '93 ExplanationOne of the rules of Freddy Fazbear's is to not poop on the floor. Fans have speculated that the reason for this bizarre rule is a Faux Horrific event dubbed "The Shit of 93", where a child did in fact poop on the floor.
- The Afton family being British. ExplanationFNAF began using voice acting other than Cawthon's in Sister Location, which established William, Elizabeth, and Michael as having British accents. Fans love to play this up by applying National Stereotypes to them for laughs. William in particular is a popular target. Here are some examples.
- That one image journalists keep using. ExplanationFans have noted that whenever news outlets report something about the franchise, they tend to use the same image depicting the FNaF 1 gang and the Toy animatronics in a Juxtaposed Halves Shot for some unknown reason. This leads to the fandom jokingly bemoaning the image's inescapability.
- Stop chewing so loud ExplanationAn animation of Freddy reprimanding Chica for loudly chewing on a pizza, before Bonnie tells him to leave her alone, using an audio from a TikTok duet starring a baby racoon. In 2023, it became popular for people to reanimate it.
- FNAF Movie leak a.k.a. I'm feeling romantical ExplanationAnother quite overused meme that got popular in 2023, which is essentially a remake of the scene from "A Haunted House 2", with Professor Wilde being replaced by Toy Freddy and his black prison inmate that prepares to violate him being replaced by Withered Freddy. Some variants of the meme use different characters, however.
- Ted in FNAF Movie ExplanationYet another 2023 meme with the eponymous sentient teddy bear from the eponymous film joins a very broken-looking animatronic band pretending to be one of them and scaring a child.
- "Oh shit, is that Freddy Fazbear?" ExplanationA TikTok from user @.g.r.b which shows him walking up to a TidyBear trash bin and asking the aforementioned question in Polish, before imitating Freddy's laugh to the tune of the Toreador March (like in abdul_cisse's FNAF beatbox). It would go on to inspire an English recreation and derivative versions involving real bears and the Freddy animatronic from the 2023 film.
- Splinks models ExplanationSome of the first fanmade models of the animatronics were made by a pair of Steam users called I6nis and Splinks; as the models were published on Splinks' account, people often mistakenly believe they're the sole creator of the models. The models saw heavy use in animations in the fandom's early days as despite their numerous inaccuracies to the in-game renders. In an era where animators have access to much more accurate models of the animatronics, including some official ones, the Splinks models were left by the wayside and often looked back on with a sense of nostalgia.
- Bonnie throwing hands Explanation Due to a combination of Bonnie being described as the most aggressive one of the original quintet, Withered Bonnie in 2 going for a chokehold, the popular fangame The Joy of Creation: Reborn having its version of Bonnie punch the player for his jumpscare, and the overt absurdity of a giant purple bunny rabbit having a right hook worthy of a pro boxing circuit, more and more fangames and fanart have shown up that depict the Animatronics, especially Bonnie, decking people in the face as part of their jumpscare attacks.
Games
- People trying to find a Sequel Hook by messing with the contrast of an image of Freddy's hat posted to Scottgames.com sometime after the game's release. Many pictures supposedly contain hidden words or images in the pictures, but it's clear that it's not intentional. This died down once an actual prequel was announced.
- "The Bad Ending" ExplanationA meme that has frequently made the rounds since mid-2020, featuring a Fauxtivational Poster with the image of the supposed "bad" conclusion of a meme, trend, or cultural phenomenon. While largely inspired by the Multiple Endings trope present in many games, they usually take special inspiration from FNAF 3, using the same Ominous Music Box Tune music as the game's Bad Ending.
- For whatever reason, this fanmade audio (loudness and audio gore warning) of William dying of a springlock failure is commonly used as a reaction sound effect.
- "This attraction is great, so many guards I can rape!" ExplanationAn extremely bizarre lyric from the video Five Nights at Freddy's 3 the Musical, which caught attention due to how out of place it was in an otherwise rather mediocre song, itself a thinly-veiled parody of Avicii's "Addicted to You". As a result, it's often used to mock said song, and by extension, the channel who made it as a whole. It helps that it's sung by an Off-Model depiction of Springtrap, which simply adds to the experience. Became an Ascended Meme in early 2022 when Lhugueny, the video's creator, referenced the line while showing his art of Burntrap. It got another reference in "FNAF Movie the Musical" where Yellow Rabbit's verse ends with "This attraction is great, so many guards I can... grape."
- Leantrap ExplanationA meme that became popular in early 2022 portraying Springtrap as a lean (a type of drug made with cough syrup and alchohol) addict, likely due to it being purple like Purple Guy.
- "You know, sometimes the suit still goes off by itself-" ExplanationYouTuber j-gems has a SFM series focusing on interviews of various animatronics in containment. Springtrap's is both one of the most iconic and the most memed, particularly due to the reveal towards the end that his suit occasionally reactivates to say extremely saccharine kid's mascot lines. Naturally, people replace the suit's speech with various audio.
- Many people have pointed out that Phantom Chica resembles a watermelon, since the burnt textures of her head look like the fruit. This was ascended in Five Nights at Freddy's World, where Phantom Chica's loading screen text reads "Stop calling me a watermelon".
- They finally found Springtrap. Explanation2023 is generally agreed to be the year FNAF3 takes place. When March 2nd, 2023, the eighth anniversary of FNAF3 hit, this led to various memes about how the actual events of the game were happening right that moment.
- Year of the Rabbit. ExplanationFans have also noted the humor in that 2023 is associated with the rabbit in Chinese astrology, which is fitting for Springtrap.
- "Oh no! Anyway..."note William Afton dying and then coming back is often memed by using Jeremy Clarkson's memorable quote, but replacing him with William Afton, to reflect how he moved on from his calamity.
- Nightmare Chica being the last character to be changed in the teaser image led many to joke about how jarring she looked, such as 'Drowning in Cuteness' and telling her to be strong and not be converted/infected. Her raised arm helps a lot.
- Comparisons to Jurassic World (because of both titles having "world" in them.) have started to show up.
- EXOTIC BUTTERS.ExplanationAt the start of the fifth night, "Eggs Benedict" is offered a variety of gift baskets as a reward for a week's work. Predictably, HandUnit misinterprets his choice and, instead of picking a basket of fruits, nuts, flowers, or cash, instead chooses for him the completely random option of "exotic butters". The basket then shows up as a clickable object in the 'Extras' menu, where clicking just repeats the phrase 'exotic butters'. The utter absurdity of it quickly reached memetic status. And yes, if you get the Good Ending, "Eggs" does indeed get exotic butters, as seen on top of his tv. Did we mention it also got a remix?
- "HEY BAWN BAWN! GO GET 'EM!"ExplanationThis is one of Funtime Freddy's lines in Custom Night, where his main mechanic is using voice lines to indicate which door he will send Bon-Bon to attack the player at. He yells so loudly and obnoxiously that "Bon-Bon" in his voice sounds like "BAWN BAWN", resulting in a sequence of sounds like this: "HEY BAWN BAWN! GO GET 'EM!", the slam of the door falling, and after a few seconds, a thunk against the door, indicating that the jumpscare was successfully prevented. Many players thought the thunk was the sound of Bon-Bon crashing after being sent barrelling to the door by Funtime Freddy. It's spawned quite a bit of fanart.
- Funtime Freddy in general, really.
- Controlled shocks.ExplanationHandUnit suggests that you activate the animatronics using a controlled shock in the beginning of the game. The fandom often uses the phrase "controlled shock" as a joke, suggesting that they should "fix" a mistake; whether that be a person that made the mistake, or when something in general goes wrong. ("X made a mistake. Let's fix that/them with a controlled shock")
- The Adult Theory. ExplanationIn the leadup to SL's release, one theory sincerely tried to argue that the teasers were hinting at the Funtimes being intended for adults in a specific context. The theory nowadays is used as snark material, due to the reaches involved and the very idea of robot sex trafficking being inherently squicky even by horror IP standards.
- "Aw, shit, it's the lean monster!" "I ... LOVE ... LEAAAAAAN!"ExplanationThe scene where Michael Afton, turned purple from Ennard's control of him, walking around some civilians has been memed as him being purple from the mixture of cough serum and Sprite known as lean, and being commented on by the civilians who watched him walk by.
- and why he ourple? ExplanationWhile this intentionally misspelled phrase was already a meme, it grew especially popular when the FNAF fandom applied it to the Custom Night cutscenes of a purple Michael Afton walking down the road, with the line being re-appropriated to something the civilians would say when he passed by.
- Buff Helpy / "Oh, here's a picture of Helpy - AHHHH!"ExplanationBlame Dawko for this one. In FNAF Meme Review 2.0 he came across an image of Helpy's face edited on to a stock photo of a muscular man's body (pictured above), and reacted as though it was the most disgusting and terrifying thing he had ever seen. It's thus become not uncommon to see images of Helpy drawn or edited to have an enormous muscular body, usually referencing Dawko at the same time. The character would later officially appear in Freddy in Space 3: Chica in Space.
- Connection terminated.ExplanationCasette Man's entire speech in the True Ending has (especially the first two words, "Connection terminated") become this due to its heavily dramatic nature. Since 2020, it's become a frequent copypasta, and there's a meme in which the speech randomly interrupts and plays over otherwise-innocent videos to suddenly turn them serious and/or ominous.
- I will make you proud, daddy!ExplanationWhat Scrap Baby says in the True Ending. Given that the internet just loves to use the term "daddy" in a sexual way, the jokes were inevitable.
- Molten Freddy has often been compared to spaghetti due to his lower body being comprised of various animatronic tubes looking similar to the food.
- Similarly, some associate Scraptrap with peanuts because his head, especially the skull underneath, looks vaguely like one.
- Since the character roster debuted, people have taken it upon themselves to create their own versions with different characters, ranging from actual past characters like Shadow Freddy and Spring Bonnie who aren't confirmed for the roster, to characters from various fangames, to Joke Characters like the fan.
- Hell, a lot of the animatronics' mechanics are this as well. Good examples include Toy Freddy and most of the Chicas.
- Toy Freddy is a gamer. ExplanationHis UCN mechanics involve helping him play "Five Nights with Mr. Hugs", a game-within-a-game. He also gets a Special Delivery skin of him wearing a VR headset, and has humorous Meta Guy lines from the same game. This results in fans jokingly applying various gamer tropes and any negative stereotypes to him.
- EVERYONE IS HERE!explanationBoth Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Ultimate Custom Night have large casts, not to mention both having the word 'Ultimate' in the title, immediately leading to comparisons between the two.
- Rockstar Freddy gained a memetic status with his catchphrase "Please deposit five coins" and his love for Faz-Coins being interpreted as a Money Fetish. Rockstar Freddy's voice actor Kai Skrotzki enjoys Rockstar Freddy's memetic status, even nodding to it on his Reddit AMA, Twitter and his interview with Dawko on the FNAF Show.
- Dee Dee's "Uh-oh! How unfortunate!" song that foreshadows her appearance has become this to a certain extent.
- Toy Chica is William Afton.ExplanationThis refers to a specific soundbite from the YouTuber Dawko, who covers a significant amount of FNAF content. In context he's talking about the High School AU Toy Chica cutscenes and how they're a metaphor for William's predatory behavior. However, people love to take the line in isolation for humor's sake.
- Arkham game over scenes.ExplanationAfter dying in Ultimate Custom Night, the player is treated to a static image with a black background of the animatronic that killed them while taunting the player. The similarity to the popular game over screens in the Batman: Arkham Series has not gone unnoticed, and a number of fans have made animations of the FNAF game over lines in the style of Arkham.
- Ness's imaginary boyfriend Brad.Explanation (email spoilers)Later (currently unreleased) emails have Luis mention that Vanessa once ordered flowers and chocolate for herself with the note "Flowers for your grave", while claiming it came from her nonexistent boyfriend "Brad." Luis, after expressing concern, offers to beat up Brad since "he's beaten up tougher imaginary guys." Thing is, "Brad" is heavily implied to be an alias for Glitchtrap. The entire concept generally reeks of Narm Charm to people who have read the emails, as it provides both creepy possible interpretations and funny mental images. Some even prefer Brad as a Fan Nickname.
- Luis is a simp. ExplanationOne-half of the emails involves Luis, an IT guy at Fazbear Entertainment, investigating the odd online behavior Vanessa demonstrates during work hours. He is also obviously romantically interested in her, as he frequently compliments her and asks her out for coffee. Vanessa never responds to his emails and ultimately uses him as an Unwitting Pawn. Additionally, the fanbase frequently either pairs her off with William as an Ignored Enamored Underling and/or Yandere, or headcanons her as lesbian. Combined with some notable fanbase reactions towards her, this has led to obvious 'simping' related humor involving Luis, making him somewhat of a Memetic Loser.
Literature
- The utter weirdness of some of the stories in general is a big meme that spawns other memes, with some even saying Scott is trying to one-up each other with each new book.
- Time-travelling ball pit. ExplanationThe first story in the book series has the main character jump into a ball pit that seemingly lets them time-travel to the year 1985. Of course, the fandom would not let go of this easily, and it's to this day mocked due to its narm, or in some cases, Narm Charm.
- "Looking back, it's not even that weird." ExplanationThe further the books went, the weirder the stories got, to the point some fans even said that in retrospective, the ball pit is far from the weirdest thing in the series.
- In the Flesh. ExplanationThe story of the same name ends with Matt, a bona fide Asshole Victim, dying after cutting open his stomach and "giving birth" to an infant-sized organic Springtrap. While the situation described is undoubtably horrific, a fair few have taken Black Comedy out of it, from creating alternate universes where Matt survives and has to awkwardly raise the resulting baby Springtrap as a single father, to horrified speculation about what it means for Vanny in Security Breach, to jokes about FNAF having canonized/justified Mpreg fanfiction, to wondering if the story was a Take That! to MatPat due to the protagonist sharing the same name. It's reached a point where it's hard to talk about what actually happens in the story without a reference to the ending and all the dark memes that resulted.
- Sea Bonnies. ExplanationThe animals from the story of the same name are essentially bio-engineered sea monkeys made to resemble Bonnie. That's hardly the weirdest thing about the story, as it's later revealed they are capable of Grand Theft Me by slowly taking over someone's body to the point where they become completely composed of Sea Bonnies. The concept of Fazbear Entertainment being able to not only create technological marvels but also something of this caliber caught on with fans due to the sheer absurdity.
- Reminder that Matpat and/or Dawko have to talk about this story. ExplanationMatpat and Dawko are both YouTubers who talk extensively about FNAF. Matpat is known for his theory videos, while Dawko has videos explaining the Fazbear Frights stories as well as creating fan songs for them. The realization that Matpat, Dawko, and other YouTubers have to discuss the weirder stories like "Room For One More", "In the Flesh", and "Sea Bonnies" is not lost on the fanbase. Both Matpat and Dawko have acknowledged this: Matpat describes "In the Flesh" in an exasperated tone in a video, noting the fanbase wants him to talk about it as well as commenting on the protagonist's name in that story being Matt. Dawko, meanwhile, made a joke song about "Sea Bonnies" during a meme review, which got animated in Garry's Mod by a fan here.
- It's been Eleanor All Along! Explanation (spoilers unmarked)After much speculation from fans, the epilogue for the tenth book confirms Eleanor, who has first appeared in the first book's second story, is the Greater-Scope Villain manipulating the events of some of the previous stories. Fans have started making jokes about how this, some of them making parodies of the catchy "Agatha All Along" song from WandaVision, which in itself is a meme.
Film
- Five Blunts at Freddy's ExplanationWhile the first teaser trailer has been mostly well received, some fans have mocked the red eyes the animatronics had in the teaser, more specifically Freddy and Bonnie's close up shots near the end, with one particular comment on a reddit thread joking that it looks like the missing children played "Pass the Blunt". The joke then spread from there, with many edits and fanart of the characters smoking marijuana.
- Freddy busts a move on Mike ExplanationThe teaser trailer features a shot of Mike looking up at the stage in a rotating shot, and for a brief second Freddy can be seen standing behind him before it cuts back to the training video. A slew of comedic edits soon followed, showing Freddy doing various dances behind Mike instead of standing still, such as Orange Justice or Gangnam Style.
- 3 Hours at Freddy's ExplanationWhen rumors spread of the film initially being three hours long (though the initial post clarified it wasn't final) fans have joked that the runtime may be justified since the franchise the film is based on has a ridiculously huge amount of complex lore behind it.
- Me leaving the theater when... ExplanationAfter a promotional photo was released that showed all the animatronics standing in a group with Mike, fans speculated that the animatronics would ally with Mike at the climax of the film and began proposing uncharacteristic dialogue reminiscent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This became a trend on TikTok where users would post "me leaving the theater after [one of these proposed cheesy lines of dialogue happens]", accompanied by a reaction GIF of a despondent Metro Man leaving an observatory.
- "Together, we are FNAF!"ExplanationEasily the most famous of these horribly cheesy quotes supposedly found in the film, which started from screenshots of the trailer with the caption edited in, was recreated in videos of the supposed scene and even chanted by people in theatres.
- A recurrent joke that often crosses over with this meme is fans humorously stating that they expected the film to follow the plot of Tony Crynight's webseries based on the games, with more than one person "leaving the theatre" when they saw the movie would not feature a love triangle between Foxy, Chica and Mangle.
- Bonnie, arguably the most comedic of the film's animatronics, has been the source of some jokes.
- Bonnie fucking dies◊ ExplanationIn several of the trailers, the animatronics are shown being powered down on stage after suddenly turning on and performing while Mike is asleep in the office. A brief shot in the second full-length trailer shows that the sparks that burst upon the shutdown are directly in front of Bonnie, making it look like he's either being electrocuted or he just flat out exploded, leading to many jokes and fanart.
- The scene of Bonnie getting so excited after building the fort that he malfunctions, falls to the floor and then reassures Abby's he's OK with a thumbs up has been memed too, such as loud noises being added to the fall (i.e. the infamous "metal pipe falling" sound effect).
- Due to Scott's involvement with the movie's production and the well-known fact that Bonnie gave him nightmares back when he made the first games, many have joked that Scott has made movie Bonnie into a Butt-Monkey as revenge.
- Bonnie must be telling the most WILD story ever 💀 ExplanationOne Behind the Scenes photo featuring Bonnie and Abby's actress looks like Bonnie is telling her some amazing story. Cue fanart and fan animations of Bonnie telling Abby some crazy tales, with some crossover with the "Funniest shit I've ever seen" meme to boot.
- "Bonnie is the most aggressive" ExplanationThis quote from an interview with Bonnie's performer Jade Kindar-Martin has been made fun of by fans due to Movie Bonnie not only being noticeably less aggressive than Foxy and Chica's Cupcake, but arguably being the goofiest and most adorable animatronic in the film. Cue videos of Jade's quote being immediately followed by Bonnie acting cute or goofy in behind the scenes footage or even movie clips.
- WAS THAT THE BITE OF '87?! ExplanationFreddy Fazbear biting Maxine in half elicited this response in theaters, often said in the same manner and tone as Markiplier.
- WAS THAT 7?! ExplanationEdits of the above to make it appear like Mark fails at math questions.
- Obligatory Markiplier reaction screen. ExplanationDespite Markiplier himself not appearing as a cameo, fans nonetheless decided to add him in the corner of the screen, either digitally via photoshop, physically taping a photo of him on a poster, or even taping a photo of his famous reaction to the Bite of 83 (which he assumed was the bite of 87) to the corner of their glasses.
- Real White Woman JumpscareexplanationA mutation of the original "white woman jumpscare" from Security Breach, this time featuring a close up shot of Vanessa's face. Many fans found this shot amusing, and were quick to edit her face into things such as in front of a ring camera, the thousand yard stare, "I am half me Foxy, Live Vanessa Reaction, or even with the caption "Real White Woman Jumpscare"
- William Afton/"Steve Raglan" is a Fountain of Memes of his own, as expected from the franchise's iconic Big Bad hammily portrayed by Matthew Lillard. Expect spoilers in the following entries and explanations:
- "Like, zoinks, Scoob! I'm the man behind the slaughter!" ExplanationOn December 20, 2022, the official cast list of the film was released, revealing that Matthew Lillard, the current voice of the notoriously memetic Shaggy Rogers, plays the equally memetic William Afton. This has inevitably led to both fandoms getting humor out of it. Of course, Lillard's also no stranger to horror films, as his first Star-Making Role was Stu in Scream (1996).
- Afton Can't Do Math ExplanationThe Brick Joke of Afton/"Raglan" telling Mike/Vanessa they have one job, but giving a requirement that they say makes it two jobs has led to constant jokes that the Big Bad and genius animatronic creator can't do basic math.
- Simarly to Freddy busting a move on Mike, there are edits of supposed cinema recordings of the Yellow Rabbit approaching Mike...and then doing the "Gangnam Style" dance while the Toreador's March plays in the background.
- The clip of the Yellow Rabbit menacingly approaching Mike from the shadows has been used to portray situations where someone, represented by Mike, is about to get their ass whooped by whoever the Yellow Rabbit is a stand-in for, or is otherwise about to have a bad time. Examples include Mike being a burglar and the Yellow Rabbit being the homeowner who just lost an online game and needs to blow off some steam, or Mike being a parent, horrified to see that their child is back in their FNAF phase after watching the movie.
- "I Always Come Back!"ExplanationIn the current meme landscape, "My favourite scene was when William said 'I always come back!'" is something you'd expect to hear as a joke, so many people found it hilarious that this is something you can say unironically about the movie, where William really does say his iconic line from the games. Jokes naturally ensued.
- Look at you! Look at the SIGMAS you've become! Explanationone tweet takes William's Villainous Breakdown as the animatronics turn on him and replaces William's insults with buzzwords typical of Gen Z humor. This has lead to some replicas of the tweet with different memetic terms and even a gag dub of the clip based on the original tweet.
- Symmetry, my friend. ExplanationWilliam's line as he prepares to kill the remaining Schmidts has caught on among members, such as with this image of movie and game Freddy being juxtaposed (and, ironically, looking quite asymmetrical) with the quote as caption.
- "First I gyatt your brother, now I rizz you. Skibidi, my friend!"ExplanationA meme on William's dialogue about killing both Garrett and Mike. However, originally, the meme has William rizzing both brothers, but Garrett never got to grow up past a child, so other memes opt for the other version.
- TWO JOBS?!?!?!?!? ExplanationA take on the aforementioned COCK?!?!?!?!? meme, this time with the Yellow Rabbit being shocked at it being two jobs, in reference to William's Brick Joke in the film.
- SYMMETRY?!?!?!?!? ExplanationAn alternate caption for that same image of the flabbergasted Yellow Rabbit, this time in reference to "Symmetry, my friend!", William's line as he prepares to kill the other Schmidt brother.
- Editing Shaggy's "are you challenging me?" clip with Springtrap's entrance, mainly because the angle of Matthew Lillard's head is almost the exact same between the two shots.
- The Salute of 39. ExplanationOne Behind the Scenes clip shows Foxy's animatronic biting the air and, in the background, Freddy slowly raising his arm in a way awkwardly reminiscent of the Nazi salute. Cue many jokes of Freddy being a Nazi and various edits with the anthem of Nazi Germany slowly fading in.
- Freddy's scream. ExplanationWhen the animatronics finally get their revenge on William, there's an odd scene with Freddy roaring to the heavens like some sort of victory screech. Cue many edits where Freddy's scream is replaced with an array of goofy and memetic sounds. Some commenters state that they saw this scene edited so many times that they don't even remember what the actual scream sounded like in the movie.
- At one point during production, the arm of Foxy's animatronic caught on fire. This fact did not go unheeded among animators and artists.
- The sheer Critical Dissonance the film got did not go unnoticed, nor did it go unmemed, as various memes depict critics and fans arguing over the film being garbage or a masterpiece respectively, usually in the form of a "Soyjack vs. Chad" comic or similar formats. A common third panel added to these memes features Scott Cawthon and Blumhouse ignoring the conflict and simply enjoying all the money they're making, usually depicted as Huell and Kuby resting on Walter's money stash.
- What critics wanted the FNAF movie to be like:ExplanationA common criticism among critics of the film was a considerable lack of those jumpscares the franchise is famous for as well as little to no faithfulness to the gameplay of the original game. Fans have started snarking at these criticisms with memes depicting "What the critics wanted the FNAF movie to be like", with the caption being attached to this memetic clip of FNAF in a nutshell, or a clip taken from particularly chaotic Ultimate Custom Night gameplay.
- Nahh this movie is ass ngl ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ’€ðŸ’€ðŸ’€ Explanationthis image of someone watching the movie in cinemas, but getting bored and deciding to play the original Five Nights at Freddy's instead. This is a take on the common joke that modern generations have such low attention spans that movies in cinemas will have to put gameplay clips at the bottom of the screen to keep audiences entertained.
- Golden Freddy is Sans ExplanationGolden Freddy appearing with one glowing blue eye socket and the other pitch black immediately caused fans to draw comparisons to the titular skeleton with the same glowing blue eye in one socket and pitch black in the other. (Although Golden Freddy's glowing eye is on his right socket as opposed to Sans' left).
What helps enhance the joke is that MatPat's cameo is in reference to his infamous "Sans is Ness Theory", making it seem all connected.
