Main Series

    Fridge Brilliance — General/Cross-Seasonal
  • The L'Manberg anthem uses the same melody as Leonard Cohen's song "Hallelujah", a song that gets used in a lot of movies and TV shows, most notably for sad moments. The entire anthem was setting up for one giant tearjerker.
  • When acting, Wilbur the content creator is very prone to Aside Glances, along with physically acting out his character's emotions and actions, which implies that the glances are actions that Wilbur the character does as well. Since Wilbur the character views his life as a story and his existence as playing a role in a narrative, it would seem quite obvious for him to acknowledge "the audience" every once in a while.
  • For some fans, the Doomsday War is an extremely unsatisfying end to L'Manburg, as opposed to Wilbur's Plan Bomb. Considering that both incidents involved the 'traitors' in question repeating the line "It was never meant to be", like the first traitor of L'Manburg, the narrative surprisingly supports this when you synch up the audio of the quotation: In the case of Plan Bomb, Wilbur repeated the line in the exact same rhythm as when Eret said it originally, marking the incident as far more symbolic (also see below for more symbolism); but during the Doomsday War, when Niki said it, her version of the quote doesn't synch up with the original line.
  • Three of the "villains" of the server, Dream, Wilbur, and Quackity, are each associated with a different game, which are indicative of how they function.
    • Dream is associated with chess. He uses the rest of the server as chess pieces, even openly referring to Tubbo as a pawn, moving them around to stoke problems for his own benefit. He himself stays largely out of the conflict, only stepping in when necessary, yet he has control over every piece on the board.
    • Wilbur is associated with (competitive) solitaire. It's a game that's played alone, even when played competitively. Wilbur was too paranoid to trust anyone with his plans, and kept his true intentions a secret from everyone except Tommy. In the end, he even left Tommy behind to act out his plan alone.
    • Quackity is associated with poker. Because poker is luck-based, it's less about actual skill and more about knowing your opponent while preventing them from reading you. Quackity guilt-trips Sam into letting him into the prison with weapons, while keeping his true intentions hidden throughout.

    Fridge Brilliance — Season 1

Election Arc

  • As of the actual Elections, there were four political parties competing against each other — POG2020 (Politicians of Gaming), SWAG2020 (So We Are Gamers), Coconut2020, and Schlatt2020. The first three all have fairly silly names, fitting in with the comedic, non-serious tone of the arc, but Schlatt2020 is the Odd Name Out, being a campaign named after the guy running for President like in the real world. One might even call it Foreshadowing to say that just like how Schlatt was running for President seriously, the arc that involves him as the President would be played out dead-seriously as well.

Manburg Rebellion

  • Schlatt was never considered a healthy or reasonable man, considering how badly his actions have traumatized most of his cabinet, as well as the fact that he quite literally died of an alcohol-induced heart attack or stroke (discounting the theories that he was being routinely poisoned throughout his presidency, though they might contribute to his quickly-declining health). He was also known to use anabolic steroids and seemed mostly obsessed with masculinity to the point of Testosterone Poisoning. This is where the Fridge Brilliance kicks in, as misuse of anabolic steroids (including testosterone) can lead to psychological side-effects such as paranoid jealousy, extreme irritability and aggression, delusions, impaired judgement, and mania. This means that his overuse of anabolic steroids most likely helped contribute to his actions to cement himself as The Caligula, especially ones later into his presidency. This also means that he quite literally had Testosterone Poisoning.

Manburg-Pogtopia War

  • Back in the L'Manburg War of Independence, Sapnap has much anger at Dream naming George his heir. Said anger proves to have merit after the L'Manburg Civil War when, despite being named the king of the Dream SMP (fulfilling Dream's promise to name him his heir), George is a Clueless Boss with no interest in politics and is merely a Puppet King for Dream (who remains the true leader of the Dream SMP and the one who actually handles the responsibilities of ruling — hell, L'Manburg outright ignores George's promotion and names Dream as their biggest threat). Had Sapnap been named king instead, he might have actually done something with the title...
  • It's entirely possible that Jschlatt was dying of a stroke and not a heart attack as Tubbo proclaimed.
    • Some of Jschlatt's last words are asking if anyone else can smell toast. While it initially seems to be another Non Sequitur that Jschlatt belted out in an alcohol-induced fit, it should be noted someone experiencing a stroke may have phantosmia (olfactory hallucinations, or smelling phantom smells) due to the brain's senses being messed with during the stroke, leading to a famous urban legend that smelling burnt toast is a symptom of a stroke.note  To note, strokes can be caused by, among other things, excessive alcoholism.
    • Other than smelling toast, Schlatt also says something about his arm just before he dies. Muscle strength in the arm often weakens during a stroke, and Schlatt would obviously notice if his muscle strength was weakening, because he was heavily working out throughout the confrontation in the Camarvan, other than drinking himself shitless.
  • Before detonating Manburg with Plan Bomb, Wilbur repeated Eret's line that "It was never meant to be", most likely intending for them to be his last words... but in a sense, they were — the original iteration of the quote marked the death of Wilbur's idealism.
  • Technoblade choosing to compare Tommy to Theseus before setting off the Withers is already some pretty good foreshadowing of Tommy's eventual fate (as he was exiled from the country that he helped save), but there's another layer to it that isn't explicitly mentioned. Theseus is generally regarded as having been a huge jerkass even by the standards of ancient Greece; thus, his exile and subsequent death are seen as Laser-Guided Karma. Tommy, while still sympathetic, acted like a jerk towards a number of people on the server; as such, while his exile was still largely a result of Dream's manipulations, his own actions didn't help his case, and a number of people (fellow DSMP members and pro-Dream/anti-Tommy viewers alike) ended up seeing it as him getting what he deserved.

    Fridge Brilliance — Season 2

Reconstruction Era

  • Tubbo offering to adopt Fundy and pushing him around in a minecart seems to be just Tubbo's cloudcuckoolander tendencies popping up... until you remember that according to Phil, Tubbo was found in a box on the side of the road, leading to his adoption. Tubbo was referencing his own past for how adoption works in an effort to make Fundy happy. It's sweet, in an odd way.
  • Quackity seemed to very quickly bounce back from his abusive relationship with Schlatt and quickly entered another relationship, this time a healthier one with Karl and Sapnap the day after the Manburg-Pogtopia War. While this form of rebounding may seem unusual at first, it makes more sense when you realize it is a possible symptom of relationship trauma, sometimes known as Post-Traumatic Relationship Syndrome (PTRS), an unofficial subtype of PTSD. And considering his rather unorthodox (and unhealthy) coping mechanisms during Schlatt's funeralnote , even though it was generally taken as a non-serious bit at the time, in hindsight, we probably should have expected his spiral in Season 3 much earlier.

The Doomsday War

  • Dream and Techno's team-up in the Doomsday War (the finale of the Vengeance arc in Season 2) is the third time L'Manburg has faced the threat of destruction — and this time, Dream and Techno make sure that the nation is buried for good. Coming back from two death blows (from the L'Manburg War of Independence and the L'Manburg Civil War) only to be permanently destroyed by a third... seems like L'Manburg also fell under some form of the "Three Canon Lives" rule.
  • The 16th of any given month is said to be a bad omen foretelling events on the SMP, with November 16th being the day that Manberg was blown up by Wilbur and December 16th being the day that the Butcher Army went after Technoblade. The day that New L'Manberg was blown to pieces, January 6th, seems to be an exception to this... at first. If you write the date out in month-day-year format, January 6th is 1/6/2021. The first two digits are 1 and 6, and discounting the 2021, it forms 16.
  • While Techno's hatred for being dehumanized is often contradicted with himself dehumanizing others in return, such as regarding Tubbo as "government" just after being shooed into the Presidential position of New L'Manburg involuntarily, it's more chilling with the knowledge he had been doing this dehumanization thing way longer than initially thought — he called Quackity a non-sentient player (not to his face) during Minecraft Mondays Week 6 and chose to go after him in the first round of Survival Games due to this 'judgement'. Since Minecraft Mondays are part of the DSMP Shared Universe, through both Schlatt, who explicitly canonized MCM Week 6 where he teamed with Techno, and through Quackity and his pre-canon PTSD, it just makes Techno's hypocrisy stand out even more... which would probably explain his bad habit of dehumanizing his 'foes' — that it wasn't a gained trait during the days of the DSMP; he'd always been this way.

The Disc War Finale

  • Dream insists that giving up his attachments and exploiting those of others made him stronger... when in the end, his lack of attachment led to his downfall. The fact that he drove his friends away meant that his only ally was Punz, a mercenary who switched sides the moment Tommy offered him more money. The fact that he planned to take away everything people cared about meant that about half the server rushed in to defend the things they love. And finally, the fact that he never once treated Tommy with compassion for compassion's sake, that he spent weeks isolating and manipulating and gaslighting him, and that he came this close to killing his best friend in front of him as soon as he was no longer useful, means that, when Tommy finally has the upper hand, he doesn't have a single shred of mercy left for Dream.
  • Dream expressing his sheer uncaring behaviour towards Spirit's remains ("I don't give a fuck about Spirit.") has a much deeper meaning when it's revealed he has a vault full of memorabilia to blackmail people with, such as pets that have previously died. In other words, he doesn't give a fuck about Spirit because he has Spirit locked up in the vault.
  • Techno being absent during the Disc Confrontation despite owing Dream a favor takes on another meaning when one considers that, rather than simply blowing off Dream's attempts to contact him, it's more likely that Dream intentionally didn't try to contact him. It's only briefly seen on-stream, but one of the storage areas in Dream's hallway of personal items is specifically meant for Techno's prized horse Carl. Had Techno shown up, he almost certainly would have turned on Dream upon seeing this. When the battle began to go south for him, Dream figured that it was better to take the loss now and save his favor for later rather than use up his favor to summon Techno, only to lose his only ally when Techno sees Dream's plan to capture Carl. Many a Card-Carrying Villain ends up alienating their allies when they slip up and reveal that they plan to do something their allies don't agree with, and Dream keeping Techno out of the loop (to the point that Techno isn't aware a battle even happened until Dream's locked in the Vault) is a subtle subversion of that.

    Fridge Brilliance — Season 3

Imprisonment Arc

  • Puffy's willingness to kill the Egg-controlled BadBoyHalo, Antfrost, and Punz is put into a new light when you remember that the Egg's control over Puffy was always minimal at best. Since when she was under the Egg's control she was basically her normal self, it's likely that this is how she sees the Eggpire right now, too — formerly reasonable people who are doing terrible things of their own free will, rather than people being Brainwashed and Crazy.
  • In a discussion about his semi-immortality with Sam, Phil describes having to watch his loved ones die as time moves on as "painful [...] but not as painful as what I inflicted on their enemies". In his son, Wilbur's case, Phil said that he felt "cold, guilty, torn apart from the inside", but Wilbur himself suffered immensely in the Afterlife as well. Considering Wilbur's mental state prior to his Suicide by Cop, one might argue that he's his own worst enemy, thus allowing Phil's description of his feelings to apply retrospectively in Wilbur's case as well.

Post-Lockdown Era

  • In the first "Las Nevadas" stream (March 16, 2021), the section where Quackity meets up with Glatt is titled "A Lost Soul". Considering both Glatt's presence and the later revelation of Quackity having just found out about being "abandoned", the 'lost soul' in question could be meant both literally and figuratively.
  • During Quackity's April 12th lore stream, after learning about the formation of Kinoko Kingdom by his fiancĂ©s and George, he was devastated, yes, but seemed to quickly rationalize that it "explained so many things" despite it leaving him feeling abandoned. But of course it would make sense to him, because he'd gone through the same thing before — it had been previously established during the Manburg-Pogtopia War that he had tried to impress Schlatt only to be further demeaned and have the White House that he helped build torn down. This time, after getting into a somewhat healthy relationship with Karl and Sapnap, he built Las Nevadas for them (and George), only for them to build Kinoko Kingdom without him. Though they didn't leave him out deliberately, he doesn't know that, so it's not a surprise for him that History Repeats itself and he was doomed to disappoint those that he cared for and have his efforts ignored all over again.

The Red Banquet

  • The roses on Hannah's Red Banquet skin are slightly darker than the ones on her usual skin, which hints that she might have painted her leached roses (from being part of the Eggpire) red to reduce suspicion and solidify her place as The Mole.
  • In a dark way, Foolish's first canon death being caused by him trying to stop Eret from being sacrificed to the Egg, i.e. protecting Eret makes a lot of sense... because Foolish is a god of totems of undying. In Minecraft, totems of undying activate when a player is about to be killed, and are destroyed in the Auto-Revive process, which perfectly reflects the canonical events of the Red Banquet.
  • Fundy's appearance at the Red Banquet might be brushed off as a "secondary" guest as he was not offered a "guest of honor" title like several prominent Pro-Omelette attendees (along with Niki, George and H), but upon closer recounting of events, it's possible that Fundy's attendance was deliberate — after Fundy returned from recovering from his Despair Event Horizon during the Doomsday War, he learnt about the Egg and told Tommy that the Egg was "red cum" in response to Tommy asking what the Egg was. Tommy accidentally let this spill to BBH, who responded that "Fundy will be taken care of", and Fundy eventually escaped an attempt by Antfrost to trap him in with the Egg. Considering the Eggpire's With Us or Against Us mentality, the Crimson probably decided that it was not going to let all this slide after all.

Banquet Aftermath Era

  • A few days before Wilbur's revival, Sam told Ranboo that nobody was allowed to go visit Dream ever again for their own safety, while the audience knows it's also to ensure nobody finds out about Quackity's daily torture of Dream. But if that's the case, how come Ghostbur was allowed in? Well, Ghostbur was not only one of the multiple people on the server with memory issues, but specifically tended to forget sad or negative things. Not to mention that, as a ghost, he (seemingly) can't be harmed any further by Dream.
  • Phil's worldview seemed, at first, to simply be identical to Techno's, the idea that the government is responsible for all evil in the world and that they must be eradicated at all cost. However, with the revelation that Wilbur had been lying to him, it's suddenly very obvious that Phil's worldview has been heavily distorted.
  • Niki's stream on June 1st after discovering Wilbur was resurrected is done entirely in black-and-white, as a way to reflect Niki's own black and white view of those around her.
  • During his May 22nd lore stream, Quackity crashes into a building while flying with a pair of Elytra. Regardless of where he got the Elytra from, one might immediately assume that the scene was just cc!Quackity's comparative lack of Minecraft skills Played for Laughs, but there's a Watsonian explanation for this as well — depth perception is extremely important to flying, especially when it comes to landing, where it could be outright dangerous if one landed while having poor depth perception. Since Quackity lost (at least part of) his vision in one eye after his duel with Techno, his depth perception would probably had become worse... which was exactly why he almost died during his landing (losing all but 3 hearts of health).
  • The one thing the two main villains of the server (Dream and Schlatt) have in common is that they don't/didn't stream their perspective of events, meaning the audience can't see their thought process or reasoning behind their actions. As Quackity slips further and further into his "villain arc", his streams are increasingly told, not from his own perspective, but from other people's, most obviously seen with Fundy's dream sequence (entirely from Fundy's perspective) and Charlie's introduction (perspective flipping between the two).

Las Nevadas Era

  • When telling Ranboo about his own execution, Tubbo claims that both Quackity and Schlatt were fully on board, while in reality, Quackity protested heavily against the execution, and left Manburg days later, with the execution being one of the reasons why. It seems odd that Tubbo would either lie about or misremember such a key detail... except forgetting or blocking out important aspects of traumatic events is a symptom of PTSD, which Tubbo is showing other signs of as well (hypervigilance, emotional numbness, reckless/self-destructive behavior).
    • Another explanation goes that Tubbo felt that directing anger and blame towards Techno was unsafe for himself, since Techno nuked his whole country to the ground and threatened to do so again if he put one step out of line (read: the Syndicate's Secret Police-style visit to Snowchester), with the latter incident being a threat to his son's life as well, so he deliberately misdirected the blame to someone else on the scene.
  • Some people may consider Quackity's stance against dictatorship and tyranny as of Doomsday to contradict his status of the President of Las Nevadas and his ambitious pursuit for power, where he goes down an increasingly dark path. However, since Las Nevadas was initially created as a safe space for him and his loved ones, it technically wouldn't be a one-person dictatorship back then; and outside of how he recruited the current members of Las Nevadas, he seems to value their opinions and treat them with respect, which probably isn't something a tyrannical dictator would do. Overall, though, this seems to all trace back to a strong case of Oppose What You Suffered.
  • Among the Las Nevadas crew, Purpled was the only one who didn't adopt a variation of Quackity's shirt-and-suspenders outfit, instead sticking with his Red Banquet suit. Is it any wonder he turns out to have ulterior motives behind joining the faction and is revealed to be a traitor a few months down the line?

Breakout Era

  • Just before confronting Quackity on the November 27th "Las Nevadas" stream, Karl is seen coming up a ladder. And where does that ladder lead? The secret room that contains his time-travelling tales. Karl has most likely just returned from a trip to the past or future, which means his memory has presumably just deteriorated further, and since those trips can be quite traumatizing at times (e.g. "The Masquerade"), maybe it isn't that surprising that he treated Quackity with such hostility — it could be a mixture of lashing out in response to trauma mixed with memory warping.

    Fridge Brilliance — Season 4

Freefall Era

  • Early in Season 4, Tommy canonizes his stream chat as a Nokia 3310 phone, which are infamous for being pretty much Made of Indestructium in real life. Considering the amount of shit that c!Tommy had has to go through in his life on the server, it makes a lot of sense for his chat to take the form of something that can take just as many beatings as he can.

Detachment Era

  • Due to The Reveal in his lore finale that Wilbur was born and raised in the U.S., L'Manburg following an American-style political system takes on another layer beyond Hamilton LARPing — it's a case of Write What You Know, except instead of a piece of in-universe media, it's a 'real-life' country.
  • Quackity got the idea of building a Redshirt Army of slimes in the Las Nevadas bunker. Slimes are shapeshifters who can pretend to be human. The Las Nevadas bunker is based on "The Skeld" map in Among Us, and the entire slime army are "Impostors".

    Fridge Horror

Season 1

  • Schlatt had likely known for a while that Tubbo was a traitor since he wasn't exactly subtle about his contact with Tommy and Wilbur. Tubbo's execution was the main event of the entire festival... which Tubbo himself organized. Schlatt made a sixteen-year-old plan, organize and hold a speech at his own execution without him realizing it until he was already on the chopping block. Tubbo himself even points this out during his speech at Schlatt's funeral.

Season 2

  • When Dream sent Ghostbur out into the wilderness to get him away from Tommy's party, he wasn't just trying to distract him. Ghostbur said it was raining when Dream told him to go, and Dream knows that Ghostbur melts in the rain. Ghostbur, at that point, was Tommy's only other source of support and comfort... And Dream tried to kill him.
  • At first, it seems that Dream tried to meaninglessly harm Tommy by giving the latter the coordinates to Techno's house (whereupon Tommy is freaked out and scared when the coordinates lead to it), until much later, when Dream goes to Techno's house to find Tommy, and finds the evidence to Tommy's occupation of Techno's house. Dream wasn't trying to get Tommy into trouble with stronger individuals; he's ensuring that Tommy is always under his watch.
  • Techno notes down the destruction of L'Manburg as minor terrorism. Assuming he wasn't joking about it being only minor, this implies that by his definition, there is such a thing as major terrorism. By that logic, one has to wonder, what could be worse that, destroying a country so badly that no subsequent country could ever use the land again, is minor in comparison?
  • A fan has made calculations estimating the amount of TNT used in the Doomsday War, and the result? The amount of TNT unleashed by Dream from his obsidian grid and the 20 blocks Niki added to fan the fire likely exceeds the amount of TNT equated to the atomic bomb used to destroy Hiroshima in World War II. Even if the calculations rely on multiple assumptions regarding the nature of TNT in Minecraft, the low estimate calculated for the permanent-destruction of L'Manburg is still over twelve times more destructive than Wilbur's Plan Bomb at the end of Season 1, and that's not factoring in the Withers unleashed by the Anarchists. The comparisons to nuking L'Manburg in the war have suddenly become not just horrifying, but disturbingly accurate to real life. And what makes it worse is that the Anarchists got away with it with minimal losses.
  • Dream having a spot for Skeppy in his vault might be comedic, but then you realize that it's intended for BadBoyHalo, whose life force is tied to Skeppy. While most of the other items have a sentimental value that Dream could use as leverage, the plan to get Skeppy is him threatening Bad's life.

Season 3

  • When Puffy and Tommy go to rescue Sam from the Egg, he's carrying around pieces of rotten flesh, which he says are bits of his skin that have fallen off. Later, during Ant's stream, Ant keeps gathering bits of rotten flesh to feed to the Egg... with the extremely disturbing implication that the Egg was EATING SAM ALIVE! Despite this, it was later explicitly confirmed that Sam had been eating HIMSELF, due to a lack of food inside the Egg... which doesn't make it any better at all.
  • A relatively minor one happens a couple of days after Karl helped Quackity escape from Bad trying to lure him to be corrupted by the Egg, when Karl passed Bad a diamond renamed with the message "Stay Away From Q". This could easily be interpreted to be, like the above example in Dream's attachments vault, threatening to hurt Skeppy, who is essentially an anthropomorphic diamond block, to hurt Bad... via their arguable life-bonding. Violently Protective FiancĂ©, indeed.
  • Sapnap's message from Dream to Ranboo translates to ":)", an emoticon that's shown up before in Ranboo's memory book. Afterwards, Ranboo undergoes a drastic change in behavior, going from friendly and talkative to being creepily silent and moves to the Nether Portal. This implies that ":)" is essentially a Trigger Phrase for Dream to make Ranboo do bad things without the latter properly remembering it (such as vandalizing Tommy's old home with netherrack and fire during the Disunion Era). As such, what's Dream doing with putting ":)" in Ranboo's memory book? Make him do the bad deeds for him and cover up for him. This is why Dream only got his comeuppance when he's in his secret base with Tommy and Tubbo; at that point, Ranboo isn't an important individual in the conflict in question (being between Tommy and Tubbo against Dream, with Punz bringing forth half of the server to correct justice). Later confirmed through Dream's January 14th 2022 lore video, which shows Dream presumably commanding an Enderwalking Ranboo to do something... most likely detonating the prison to trigger the lockdown, and possibly blowing up the Community House as well.
  • After Tommy's death, Sam says he thought he had broken Dream's will to the point he wouldn't do anything. This becomes horrifying when you realize Sam's pickaxe is called the Warden's Will Breaker. Though Sam has explicitly jossed the theory of his character torturing Dream, it might not be that surprising that some fans came to that conclusion, even if they are several other theories to how the pickaxe got its name.
  • The Afterlife is a void devoid of any sensory stimulation for the dead who inhabit it. For those on the mortal plane Tommy spent two days in the Afterlife, but for Tommy, it felt like two months had passed. This is horrifying enough knowledge on its own, but then you remember that Wilbur and Schlatt have been dead since November. This has not been lost on the creators, and has in fact been addressed in canon — after Wilbur is revived, he claims to have spent at least a decade in the Afterlife. Tommy experienced one month for every day in the real world and assuming Wilbur experienced the same, then from his perspective he's been dead for thirteen and a half years, matching up fairly well with what he claims to have experienced.
  • During the Syndicate's visit to Snowchester, Ranboo and Phil have to try their hardest to keep Michael a secret from Techno. While the visit itself was nerve-wracking enough, it speaks to the reputation that Techno has that even his best friend wasn't 100% sure that Techno wouldn't hurt a literal baby whose only crime was existing in relation to someone who Techno associates with a government.
  • Before going into Dream's cell, Sam hands Quackity some food, his axe, his sword, some item frames, and a pair of shears. The shears seem like a strange addition, considering they can't be used as a weapon, and there is no wool or leaves anywhere in the cell... until you realize that shears are the closest thing Minecraft has to pliers.
  • During the montage of Quackity visiting the prison every day to torture Dream (set to Strauss's "Voices of Spring Waltz"), Sam can be seen wearing less of his netherite armor as he escorts the other through the prison, showing how he's become more comfortable with Quackity's presence and presumably, his actions.
  • The fact that Bad invited Sapnap to the Red Banquet in the first place, which was all a ruse to sacrifice the attendees to feed the Egg. In case anyone is missing the memo, Sapnap is Bad's son in SMP canon. This gets offset by the revelation that Bad went back on this to protect Sapnap, just that it wasn't shown onscreen because Sapnap the content creator wasn't available for lore.
  • Judging from what happened with Ghostbur, it seems that part of the process of reviving someone involves physically killing their ghost and that their ghost appears at the place they died in. Tommy was beaten to death in Dream's cell, and Sam didn't check up on Dream for a long while after that. This implies that Tommy's ghost, likely confused, scared, and missing very vital memories, might have been trapped in a cell with Dream for the two days he waited to bring Tommy back to life.
  • Doubles as Fridge Brilliance, depending on the perspective — Wilbur's Personalized Afterlife, being a train station he could never leave and an overall reference to his song "Jubilee Line" from "Your City Gave Me Asthma". At first, it appears to be just a visual nod to the song, until you further analyze the lyrics in "Jubilee Line", which perfectly parallel his Afterlife regarding the pain and stagnation that drove people into depression. The Jubilee line is infamous for being one of the suicide hotspots in the London Underground transit system. In 1999, the local government installed barriers on the platforms and tunnels of the line to stop people from jumping onto the tracks, partially removes one method of suicide. In other words, Wilbur trapped in an Afterlife for 13 and a half years in eternal agony and pain where he couldn't even further commit suicide to escape.
  • In spite of the fact that Wilbur being uninformed has led to him thinking of Dream as a hero for 'saving' him from his painful Afterlife, it should be noted that according to him, his first instinct after learning about Tommy's Exile was to eviscerate Dream where he stood.
Wilbur: Look at me, Tommy. Look me in the eyes. Every single step me and you took, I was there, I was there. I had no control of what was happening, I have no idea what was being said. But, Tommy, I'll tell you what, if I was there, and if it wasn't that stupid shell of a ghost instead of me, I would have struck down Dream right where he stood. We would have disembowelled him, we would have disembowelled him together. Together.
  • As noted in the Fridge Brilliance section, two of the server's villains, Dream and Jschlatt, didn't stream from their perspective even once, and the deeper Quackity goes into his villain arc, the more his streams are told from other people's perspectives, such as Fundy or Charlie. The Fridge Horror part? Dream and Jschlatt are the most evil characters on the server, and if Quackity is following their footsteps by appearing only in other people's perspectives...
  • When asked how he lost his first canon life, Connor said it was because he was having a bad day. While the statement is ambiguous and ultimately innocuous, many fans interpreted it as meaning Connor lost his first life via suicide. Even Charlie's note  stream chat reacted with upset emotes and statements of how things suddenly got dark.
  • According to Quackity's November 27th lore stream, following Slime returning to his dormant state via canon death, Quackity spent the next several weeks grieving and researching slimes to bring him back. What allows this to count as Fridge Horror is that said death and the confrontation that led to it took place on the same day as the prison visit where Techno escaped, and it is stated out-of-universe that Techno would be breaking Dream out of prison on November 28th... meaning that in spite of his initial paranoia, Quackity (and presumably most of the rest of Las Nevadas) is utterly unprepared if Dream and Techno decide to go after him.

Season 4

  • Dream's Revival Book lore video revealed the fates of Vikkstar and LazarBeam, both having been absent from the server for a long time — namely, both of them were tortured and killed by Dream. Keeping that in mind, who's to say some equally disturbing fate didn't befall Alyssa, who's been absent from the server for longer than them?

    Fridge Logic

Tales from the SMP

    Fridge Brilliance
  • During "The Masquerade", when asked to empty his pockets, the butler inexplicably starts throwing out hundreds of buckets of milk. It seems like an odd thing for him to be carrying around, until you remember that Sir Billiam has half-jokingly said that he tries to poison the butler on occasion. Poison is a potion effect, and drinking milk clears all potion effects.
  • The episode "The Wild West" has a lot more Ho Yay moments than the other Tales episodes. Considering the existence of Gay Cowboys, this makes a lot of sense.
  • Connor is aware of Karl's time travelling, which he references a few times in dialogue, but you wouldn't notice it was explicitly confirmed unless you read his in-game diary, in which he says he "knows [Karl's] secret". Connor may be a time traveler himself, although this is never outright confirmed — in the two Tales episodes he appears in, he appears as just being himself. This is referenced by Karl, who notices in "The Wild West" that the Connor in the town appears just like the Connor back home in the SMP. He also appears to have some kind of history with DreamXD, who is directly related to time travel.

  • In early March 2022, Bad revealed that the Egg can reproduce from spores left from by its vines, leading to more Eggs like it. With this in mind, it implies that the Egg seen during "The Masquerade" may only been one of many Eggs.
  • In The Stinger of "The Maze", XD mentions that he had appointed a previous time-traveller before Karl, but their Loss of Identity persisted to the point they lost their own memory that they were a time-traveller in the first place, which prompted XD to "[get] rid of" them, and for now, we have no idea what happened to the previous Traveller.
