     Canon Universe

Phoenix Wright

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/747e8fbc_40b9_475a_b6c7_52bdbeefccea.jpeg

The Comeback King and the Turnabout Terror, Phoenix is a renowned attorney known for his bluffs that are surprisingly on mark. He uses a magatama to discern truths people are hiding from him. At the beginning of the story, he inexplicably wakes up in an entirely different universe, a universe where he becomes a prosecutor instead of a defense attorney.

  • Anime Hair: Has wild, spiky hair.
  • Blue Is Heroic: His trademark is blue.
  • Butt-Monkey: He wouldn't be Phoenix, if the universe wasn't screwing him over.
  • Color Motif: Blue is his trademark color, see Blue Is Heroic.
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: He's technically this for Prosecutorverse Franziska, often having to play damage control for her.
  • First-Person Smartass: It’s Phoenix after all.
  • Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: This is Phoenix Wright after all, he practically perfected it.
  • In-Series Nickname: As in canon, Maya and Larry call him Nick. Meanwhile, his mother Phoebe and his grandparents call him Nicky.
  • Last-Name Basis: Despite being childhood friends with Miles, he still calls him by his last name, Edgeworth.
  • Living Lie Detector: Thanks to the magatama.
  • Made of Iron: He gets shot in the chest and yet, he manages to survive. But this is Phoenix, we're talking about...
  • The Mentor: The mentor (and boss) to Apollo and Athena.
  • The Rival: Is one to Edgeworth (and his best friend). Franziska also considers him this.
  • Running Gag: Phoenix will be drinking some kind of drink when he gets a bombshell about something in Prosecutorverse. He'll then do a Spit Take, leading him to hastily scramble for an excuse.
  • Ship Tease: It's implied that Phoenix had feelings for Mia before she died.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Even though he has his mother’s hair color, it’s been shown that Phoenix bears a striking resemblance to his father, Nicholas.
  • Team Dad: To the point where he pouts to himself when Prosecutorverse Apollo and Athena are weirded out by him waving at the two of them (as Prosecutorverse Phoenix is their mentors' adversary.)
Phoenix: This universe stinks, my kids hate me here.
  • You Can Always Tell a Liar: See Living Lie Detector.

Apollo Justice

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6615421b_88f6_4aa6_92fb_5ad2e15b9710.jpeg

The Clarion of Revelations and the Truth Bringer, Apollo is Phoenix's first protege. He uses a magic bracelet that tightens when people lie to him and he can notice their lying tells.

  • Anime Hair: Has a very unique hairstyle that has been compared to a horn by Jinxie Tenma in the past.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • Just like in canon, only to add insult to injury Prosecutor Phoenix can never remember Apollo or Athena's names and at first thought the two were interns.
    • Athena was forced to agree to Blackquill’s terms in exchange for his help that Apollo has to pay for Blackquill’s dinner. And Taka’s. Apollo is not amused.
  • Color Motif: His trademark color is red.
  • The Comically Serious: Poor Apollo tries to maintain professionalism but it's often derailed.
  • Consummate Professional: Apollo is actively the most professional person to work for the Agency.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Has brown hair and brown eyes.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Even more sarcastic than his boss and mentor.
  • Expressive Hair: His bangs flops forward when he's surprised or disheartened.
  • First-Person Smartass: Even more so than Phoenix, see Deadpan Snarker.
  • Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: Just like his mentor.
  • Hot-Blooded: A phrase used over and over to describe Apollo is his "passionate heart burning red".
  • Living Lie Detector: His bracelet and Perception ability helps him catch subtle body language changes to catch lies.
  • Long-Lost Relative: He's Trucy older half-brother, unbeknownst to the two of them.
  • The Napoleon: A more downplayed one compared Franziska (whom he is three centimetres taller than). He's loud, brash, Hot-Blooded, and possesses the "big personality" trait of the Napoleon.
  • No Indoor Voice: Well he doesn't call it Chords of Steel for nothing...
  • Older Than They Look: He's 23 years old but it's easy to mistake him for a high-schooler.
  • Only Sane Man: Well... compared to Athena, Maya, and Trucy. This is shown especially when they see that Prosecutor Phoenix doesn't recognize them and Maya orders Athena to put him in a headlock, Apollo understandably protests to the treatment of their boss. And Maya's claims that Phoenix is possessed by an evil spirit.
  • Orphan's Plot Trinket: Apollo's bracelet, one of a pair that belonged to his mother. It ended up being very important to his Living Lie Detector powers.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: He's the shortest male lawyer in the series by about four inches. He's also the loudest. He's also managed to help put away several criminals before the start of this fic. Underestimate this short lawyer if you dare.
  • The Reliable One: Apollo is the most reliable out of the Wright Anything Agency members.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Has a more Ship Tease version of this dynamic with Athena, and a more platonic version of this dynamic with Trucy.
  • Ship Tease: It's implied that Apollo is crushing on Athena.
  • Super-Senses: Has a highly attuned sense of visual perception even without his bracelet.
  • You Can Always Tell a Liar: See Living Lie Detector.

Athena Cykes

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b40ce0c4_dccd_4c63_a853_4b4de7bf7b0d.jpeg

The Courtroom Révolutionnaire, Athena is the second protege to Phoenix Wright. She is a specialist in analytical psychology, which she studied in Europe, and has the special ability to pick up subtle emotions from witnesses' voices, which she can then examine using a program called the "Mood Matrix". The Mood Matrix is linked to her AI partner Widget, who hangs around her neck and changes color with her emotions.

  • Anime Hair: Her bangs defy gravity.
  • Badass Adorable: Despite her cute appearance, she can easily put her boss into a headlock and hold him down.
  • Badass Bookworm: Studying law and psychology all in the span of seven years is pretty impressive... and she can also put a man (her boss) 5 inches taller than her, in to a headlock and hold him down.
  • The Big Girl: While not remarkably tall or muscular, she can wreck anyone who pisses her off.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: Just ask Prosecutor Phoenix.
  • Butt-Monkey: Just like in canon, only to add insult to injury Prosecutor Phoenix can never remember her or Apollo's names and at first thought the two were interns.
  • Character Tics: She tends to fiddle with her earring when she's in thought. She also strokes her ponytail when flustered, and punches her fists when she's ready to expose the truth.
  • Color-Coded Emotions: The emotions displayed by the mood matrix which also reflect her emotions when not in use. Light blue is neutral, green is happiness/joy, dark blue is sadness/fear, yellow is surprise/confusion, red is anger/frustration.
  • Color Motif: Her trademark color is yellow.
  • Ditzy Genius: Has qualifications in both law and psychology. She's also hyper and clumsy.
  • The Empath: She can actually sense the attitude and feelings of the people around her.
  • Fiery Redhead: Athena is quite the feisty one and has bright orange hair.
  • First-Person Smartass: Just like Phoenix and Apollo.
  • Genki Girl: She's very excitable and energetic.
  • Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: A tradition for this agency.
  • He Is Not My Boyfriend: She is not amused when Blackquill teases her, claiming her and Apollo are dating.
  • Living Lie Detector: Her superhuman hearing helps her catch changes in a person's emotional state, combined with her Mood Matrix, can help her detect lies.
  • Orphan's Plot Trinket: The single earring she wears is a memento from her late mother. It's made from the moon rock that was recovered seven years ago.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: She’s an inch shorter than Apollo (who is short himself). Despite her size and petite stature, she’s incredibly strong. She could judo toss a full grown man in Dual Destinies and in this fic put her own boss in a headlock and keep a man 5 inches taller than her held down with no trouble.
  • The Pollyanna: Despite the hardships she’s endured over her life, she’s still able to smile through it all.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Has a Ship Tease version of this dynamic with Apollo, and a platonic version of this dynamic with Blackquill.
  • Ship Tease: It's hinted Apollo has feelings for her.
  • Super-Senses: Has an exceptional sense of hearing and perception of minute changes in voices.
  • You Can Always Tell a Liar: See Living Lie Detector.

Maya Fey

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a74af5a6_7014_4a26_82f2_79065a4c1be7.jpeg

The Master of Kurain Channeling Technique, a long time friend of Phoenix, and the younger sister of Mia Fey.

  • Beware the Silly Ones:
    • Maya is a very silly character. But when she had enough of Phoenix not acting like himself, Maya orders Athena to hold him down. She then says he's possessed by an evil spirit and will proceed to exorcise it. Apollo expresses concern as it seems her spiritual powers have gotten powerful over the years...powerful enough to cause harm.
Apollo: Maya is this necessary... I'm pretty certain he just hit his head and that's why he can't remember this stuff?
Maya: Well... hopefully not, this is a powerful prayer I'm about to perform. If no ghost is in him then he might end up unconscious... or just stuck with annoying bouts of nosebleeds and migraines for two weeks.
    • When she thought Phoenix was being robbed, she charged in wielding a fire extinguisher and was fully prepared to attack with it.
  • Big Eater: She demands burgers after the conclusion of Prosecutor Phoenix's first day as a defense attorney.
  • The Bus Came Back: As the story takes place after Dual Destinies, Maya returns after her absence in Apollo Justice and Dual Destinies.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: It is Maya after all.
  • Genki Girl: Maya started the trend of perky, energetic assistants.
  • Plucky Girl: No matter how bad things get, Maya still confronts it with enthusiastic zeal.
  • The Pollyanna: Maya’s been through a lot in her life. This hasn’t stopped her upbeat personality and positive attitude.
  • Practically Different Generations: Maya is 10 years younger than her older sister Mia.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Has a platonic version of this dynamic with Phoenix and is starting to gain a similiar dynamic with Prosecutorverse Phoenix.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: See Big Eater. She really loves burgers.
  • Willing Channeler: Can channel the spirits of the deceased, and is the heir to the Master of the Kurain Channeling technique.

Trucy Wright

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6f5d286e_5123_4d59_90dc_1d3e26491bc4.jpeg

The adopted daughter of Phoenix Wright and unbeknownst to either of them, the half-sister of Apollo Justice.

  • Cooldown Hug: Managed to give one to Prosecutor Phoenix after his panic attack in Chapter 9.
  • Daddy's Girl: She loves Phoenix very much. See Happily Adopted for more info.
  • Genki Girl: Like all the assistants, she's very excitable.
  • Happily Adopted: She adores her adopted father. She's heartbroken to see that Phoenix has apparently forgotten her.
  • Long-Lost Relative: She's Apollo's younger half-sister, not that they are aware of this fact yet.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: She's a stage magician, so a few of the things she does can be explained with sleight-of-hand, fake props, etc. Some things don't really have a logical explanation as to how she's able to do them, like her "magic panties," or where she keeps Mr. Hat, which is bigger than she is.
  • Plucky Girl: Trucy powers through several horrible experiences like a champ and still smiles through it all.
  • The Pollyanna: Despite all the hardships she's gone through in her life as well as her father (really Prosecutorverse Phoenix who switched places with him) getting "amnesia" and has no memories of her, she braves through everything and is able to still smile and give support to everyone.
  • Punny Name: Trucy is similar to "truth". Not to mention that her last name Wright is a pun on "right".
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Has a platonic version of this dynamic with Apollo.
  • Stage Magician: This is her main job.
  • Super-Senses: While she doesn't have the bracelet or as strong as her older half-brother, Trucy also has the gift of perception.
  • Tender Tears: When confronting with the issues of her father's "amnesia", she takes it hard. But despite her sorrow she still tries to comfort Prosecutorverse Phoenix as well.

Pearl Fey

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c68b1299_9437_4ad3_989a_523df282e56d.jpeg

Mia and Maya's younger cousin, and a spirit medium prodigy. She resides in Kurain Village, although she still willingly offers assistance to the Agency when they need it.

  • The Baby of the Bunch: She's the youngest of the Fey's. She's 10 years younger than the second youngest of the Feys, her cousin - Maya. And she's 16 years younger than her half-sisters, Dahlia and Iris.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Some of her suggestions to fix Prosecutor Nick's "amnesia" are quite out there... and dangerous.
  • Big Sister Worship: Even though she's her cousin, Maya is like a sister to her and she adores her so.
  • Cheerful Child: Well more of cheerful teenager now. But just as sweet and happy as when she was a kid during the trilogy era.
  • Child Prodigy: She's still just as naturally powerful and gifted as ever with spirit channeling.
  • Cool Big Sis: Acts like this to Trucy, according to Phoenix.
  • Muggle Born of Mages: Inverted in her case. Her mother, Morgan Fey, had low spiritual power, and her unknown father was a normal man outside the Fey clan, yet Pearl herself is very much capable of channeling spirits.
  • Older Than They Look: She's 17 going on 18 but looks like she's 14.
  • Practically Different Generations: See The Baby of the Bunch. She’s 16 years younger than her twin half-sisters.
  • The Pollyanna: Much like her cousin Maya, Pearl has been through many hardships. She’s still able to smile despite this.
  • Willing Channeler: Like her cousin, can also channel the spirits of the dead. Usually both channel Mia to help Phoenix.

Mia Fey

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/untitled_4169.png

Phoenix's former mentor, who died early into Phoenix's career.

Franziska von Karma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/39a0b24f_e83c_4106_bf69_799da6f08486.jpeg
Art by Pinigo.

Daughter to Manfred von Karma and a rival prosecutor that Phoenix has faced in the past. Franziska is a known perfectionist and rarely seen without her trademark whip, which she uses to intimidate and punish those around her. She returns to prosecute the case against Larry.

Miles Edgeworth

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ef8d5b0f_e136_4ffa_bab5_5456edf45127.jpeg

The Chief Prosecutor and Phoenix's second childhood friend, the reason why Phoenix became an attorney to begin with.

Simon Blackquill

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f335122c_1fda_422f_8a3a_b4ca84fa9064.jpeg

The Twisted Samurai, a rather infamous prosecutor.

Larry Butz

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/9696e814_1437_4c38_863a_6f1909742b8a.png

One of Phoenix's childhood friends, and has been accused of murder yet again. This time he is accused of the murders of two women, one is the cousin of Lotta Hart, the other Lotta Hart’s friend. And he is also accused of the attempted murder of Lotta Hart, his current girlfriend.

  • Analogy Backfire: When trying to prove he is innocent of the crime of attempted murder of his girlfriend, Larry professes his loyalty and love of said girlfriend, Lotta Hart. He does this by comparing his love for Lotta to famous Star-Crossed Lovers in pop culture. He does this 3 times in court, much to the frustration of Prosecutorverse Phoenix who is trying to prove his innocence.
  • Artsy Beret: Wears one all the time now.
  • Be as Unhelpful as Possible: He wouldn’t be truthful at first with Prosecutorverse Phoenix (his Attorney who is trying to prove him innocent) his whereabouts on the night of the murders and attempted murder simply because he didn’t want Phoenix to steal his present idea for Lotta, as Larry was out shopping during the night of the murder therefore giving him an alibi.
  • Blush Sticker: Pops up whenever he's flustered, which is often, as he has plenty of good reasons to be ashamed...
  • The Bus Came Back: After being absent from the canon series since Investigations 2. He appears in the DLC for Spirit of Justice, but this fanfic takes place after Dual Destinies, and the author started drafting the fic before playing the sixth mainline game.
  • Butt-Monkey: Has been accused of murder again, and the murdered include his girlfriend's cousin and friend. His antics are not tolerated by anyone in the court, even his own attorney.
  • Childhood Friends: He's known Phoenix since they were eight.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: He has his moments in which he draws the most ridiculous conclusion from what he saw or heard.
  • The Ditz: Probably why trouble follows him everywhere.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Prosecutorverse Phoenix wonders how on earth his counterpart and Edgeworth put up with him. (If only he knew even they get fed up with their childhood friend’s antics several times in the past.)
  • Genius Ditz: Despite being a huge idiot, Larry is a very talented artist.
  • Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: Tries mimicking Phoenix when declaring in court that he is "not a monkey". (Prosecutorverse Phoenix notes Franziska called Larry a "buffoon", not a "baboon".) He is promptly told to shut up and sit back down.
  • Hot-Blooded: He has a tendency of abruptly screaming mid-sentence, and he gets extremely angry or emotional at the drop of a hat.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's not malicious or intentionally a jerk, but he can be pretty obnoxious and overbearing. He's a good guy and means well however.
  • Mystery Magnet: Some things never change. It’s not Larry if he isn’t stumbling onto a crime scene or being accused of a crime. Prosecutorverse Phoenix repeats the following familiar phrase to Mia: “When something smells, it’s usually the Butz”, so the Larry of the Prosecutorverse is no different than the our canon one in terms of being a trouble magnet.
  • The Nicknamer: Nick", "Edgey", and "Franny" for Phoenix, Edgeworth, and Franziska respectively.
  • Ocular Gushers: As in canon, he's prone to this. One instance has him sobbing his gratitude to Prosecutor Phoenix who isn't... quite sure on how to handle this.
  • Older Than He Looks: The fic takes place 8 years after the events of the Investigations and Triology era games, he's barely shown any signs of ageing, unlike his friends. He certainly has not matured either.
  • Phrase Catcher: "When something smells, it's usually the Butz."
  • Renaissance Man: Shockingly enough, Larry is naturally gifted in pretty much all artistic fields, including sculpting, painting and acting.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: His relationships with both Canonverse Phoenix and Edgeworth can be summarized as this.
  • With Friends Like These......: Generally, more of a liability and mooch than an ally. He does genuinely care about both Phoenix and Edgeworth, just less than he does about himself.

Maxie Mumm

A key witness to the case where Larry has been accused of murder. Talks like a stereotypical surfer.

  • The Nicknamer: Calls Phoenix "barb-head dude", much to Prosecutorverse Phoenix's annoyance.
  • Original Character: A witness created for the fanfic.
  • Punny Name: A pun on maximum.
  • Spanner in the Works: It's starting to become clear someone is framing Larry for the murders of two women and attempted murder of Larry's girlfriend. Maxie however puts a wrench in this because he spoke with Larry at the store Maxie works at, during the time of the murder, strengthening Larry's alibi.
  • Totally Radical: He talks like a stereotypical surfer.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/325d04e7_3968_4733_a9cc_a6a4a8aa3131.png
Art by CherryArt.

In another universe, Phoenix Wright's childhood was changed drastically due to the violent deaths of his parents at the age of 10. He was adopted by Manfred von Karma and under his tutelage, eventually became a prosecutor.

  • Anime Hair: Has wild, spiky hair.
  • Beneath the Mask: He comes off as arrogant and snobbish, but has his moments where he can be just as awkward and goofy like his canon self that he tries to hide. He also tries to hide his broken side with his pride and arrogance.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Cares deeply about Prosecutorverse Franziska, even when they first met as children and she didn’t like him, that never stopped him from wanting to look out for her and protect her.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Much like his canon counterpart.
  • Broken Ace: While Phoenix is brilliant, he is still quite broken over his parents' deaths.
  • The Casanova: Much to Canonverse Apollo's surprise, ever since his boss was hit with amnesia, his boss is extremely skilled at flirting with the opposite sex. The author wanted to contrast him with Canonverse Phoenix who isn't as experienced in romance.
  • Classy Cravat: Sports one. Apparently Prosecutorverse Franziska has always given him one each year as a gift for his birthday and Christmas, ever since he's become a prosecutor. He actually hates cravats and finds them itchy and uncomfortable, but always wears them because Franziska is always so happy to give them to him.
  • Cloud Cuckoolanders Minder: Could actually understand Maxie Mumm's strange way of thinking and give it to Canonverse Apollo in layman's terms. Apparently he has a history of dealing with oddball witnesses like his canon counterpart so he's probably experienced with dealing with those types.
  • Color Motif: Blue just like his canon counterpart, see Blue Is Heroic.
  • Cuteness Proximity:
    • He has this about his little sister, Prosecutorverse Franziska. Canonverse Franziska does not appreciate this when he calls her adorable in court.
    • He is slowly getting worn down by Canonverse Trucy despite only knowing her for a little over a day so far in the story. He can't help but be warmed up to Trucy's kind and bright personality.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Canonverse Phoenix is pretty sarcastic but his alternate counterpart is even snarkier.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Chief Prosecutor Dinah Mite refers to him as "Nixie Nix".
  • Endearingly Dorky: See Beneath the Mask. He tries to maintain he's professional and arrogant, but he has his moments of dorkiness and awkwardness.
  • First-Person Smartass: Shares this in common with his canon counterpart.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's arrogant, smug, and pompous, but deep down to his core he's still Phoenix Wright. Manfred von Karma couldn't scrub out his kind heart.
  • Last-Name Basis: Like his canon counterpart, he only refers to Miles by simply "Edgeworth".
  • Living Lie Detector: Now that he has a magatama of his own, he is shaping up to be one.
  • Meaningful Rename: Done twice. Manfred adopted him after his parents' death, making him Phoenix von Karma. Franziska informs Canonverse Phoenix that he still keeps the name Phoenix von Karma when prosecuting outside of the states. However when Phoenix came back to the states, he legally changed his name back when prosecuting in the states only to be his birth name - Phoenix Wright. She also angerly informs Edgeworth of this fact as well when he insinuated the von Karmas made Phoenix forget who he was:
Franziska: Foolish! Why do you think he came back to the states?! Why do you think he changed his name legally so when he lives in the states it's his old name?! He won't talk about it but I know it's because he never wants to forget where he came from!
  • The Rival: Like canon, Phoenix and Edgeworth are this. Mia and Prosecutorverse Phoenix also have this to a lesser degree.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Is starting to get a platonic version of this dynamic with Canonverse Maya. And it's hinted from him that he has a similar dynamic with his universe's Kay Faraday, comparing Canonverse Maya to Kay.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: While Canonverse Phoenix dresses nicely in a suit due to his profession, Prosecutorverse Phoenix is especially this. He's quite snobby about the clothes he wears and can apparently tell what kind of material a piece of cloth is made of just from touching it. He also looks down on Canonverse Phoenix for buying cheap material.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: He is of the same opinion on the stepladder vs ladder debate as his canon counterpart.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Certainly thinks this way when dealing with the zany members of the Wright Anything Agency, Maya, Larry, and Maxie Mumm.
  • Teen Genius: Phoenix became a prosecutor at the age of 17. Compare this to Canonverse Phoenix, who became an attorney several years after that.
  • Trauma Button: Garages. This is due to finding his parents' corpses in the garage, traumatizing him when he was 10 years old.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Finding the corpses of your parents would cause any 10 year old kid's personality to be majorly screwed up. To make things worse, he was adopted and raised by Manfred von Karma.
  • You Fool!: Also prone to calling people fools, given that he was raised by Manfred von Karma.

Franziska von Karma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b976dcca_b6f2_4944_9294_6fcb91d916bb.jpeg
Art by Pinigo.

She is the daughter of Manfred von Karma and adopted sister to Phoenix Wright. Franziska is regarded as a prosecuting genius — she became a prosecutor at the age of 13 and her win record in her homeland of Germany is spotless. Franziska is an extreme perfectionist and rarely seen without her trademark whip, which she uses to intimidate and punish those around her.

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: Much like her canon counterpart.
Franziska: Why are you not responding to any of my calls or texts?! This is most unbecoming and foolish! The most foolishly foolish foolhardy foolishness! Cease this silence and respond to me! You Fool!!!
  • Amoral Attorney: She was raised by Manfred von Karma unfortunately. And hasn’t undergone the Character Development her canon counterpart has.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Edgeworth and Mia.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Defied. While she is the youngest of the "von Karmas" but she refuses to act like it — instead, she's got an abrasive, cold personality. But she does have a soft spot for her adoptive older brother, Phoenix Wright.
  • The Baroness: Similar to her canon counterpart.
  • Beneath the Mask: She's cold and harsh, but has a soft side deep down. She keeps up the cold front to hide her insecurities and doubts.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Well she's his adoptive little sister, but she's still quite protective of Phoenix.
  • Broken Ace:
    • Despite being a child prodigy, she was very broken up about her mother abandoning her and her father while she was very small. And the story hints that Manfred is no better of a father than his canon counterpart. She clings to her only emotional support, her adoptive brother Phoenix. But even then she refuses to show how broken or vulnerable she is with even Phoenix unless they are in private.
    • Phoenix getting shot to protect her extremely rattled her.
  • Child Prodigy: Like her canon counterpart, she became a prosecutor when she was 13 years old.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Like her canon counterpart, if she's not stinging people with her whip, odds are that she will with her words.
  • Department of Redundancy Department: Just like canon, her constant repetition of the word “fool” often falls into this.
  • Full-Name Basis: Like her canon counterpart she has a habit of addressing nearly everyone by their full name (minus a few exceptions). To the point that even when a chapter has a section from her perspective the third person narration even will address other characters by their full name.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Pity the fool who triggers her wrath.
  • Hello, Attorney!: She's a prosecutor, but she's described to be a gorgeous woman.
  • High-Class Gloves: Her fancy outfit includes black gloves.
  • Hot-Blooded: See Hair-Trigger Temper.
  • Iconic Item: Just like her canon counterpart she's rarely ever seen without her whip.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's even frostier than Canonverse Franziska, due to the lack of Character Development. Despite this she still has a soft spot for her adoptive brother and is very protective of him.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: She has long hair, compared to the bob she has in Justice For All.
  • Missing Mom: A flashback establishes Franziska's mother to have left Manfred and Franziska even before Prosecutorverse Phoenix was adopted.
  • Morality Pet: Edgeworth notes that despite how corrupted her father taught her to be as an attorney, she does truly care deeply for her adoptive brother, Phoenix.
  • My Brother Is Off Limits: Franziska has this mindset with Prosecutorverse Phoenix. She wasn't impressed with Dinah Mite for hitting on Phoenix.
  • The Napoleon: She's about 5'3", just like her Canonverse counterpart.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Toward Edgeworth and Mia.
  • Parental Abandonment: Her mother left her daughter and husband when she was very young, before Phoenix was adopted into the family.
  • The Perfectionist: So much so, that Canonverse Phoenix used this to his advantage to help Mia and Edgeworth to stall for more time, by pointing out that an easy victory against Edgeworth isn't really a worthwhile or perfect one. This convinces her to call for a recess.
  • Pet the Dog: She hates Edgeworth and his family, despite this she still expresses her condolences to Edgeworth about his father's murder.
  • Sophisticated as Hell: Just like Canonverse Franziska.
  • Tsundere: Just like her canon counterpart.
  • Verbal Tic: Just like Canonverse Franziska, she really loves calling people fools.
  • Whip of Dominance: Just like her canon counterpart, she's very fond of whipping anyone who even so much as annoys her. Not even her precious adoptive brother is safe.
  • You Fool!: Just like her canon counterpart, she's quite fond of any and all variations of calling someone a fool.

Miles Edgeworth

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4fab3132_0c98_4e78_96ae_dc02f8c5d8a0.jpeg
Art by CherryArt.

A defense attorney in this universe due to the influence his father had, and works at the Edgeworth & Fey Law Offices. The stepbrother to Mia and Maya Fey. And the mentor to Athena Blackquill.

  • Ambiguous Situation: How he met Athena and came to mentor her has not be divulged yet in the story.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Franziska.
  • Berserk Button: Franziska pressed it when she insinuated he doesn't understand what she's going through by watching her adoptive brother cling to life after he was shot. Edgeworth harshly reminds her that she isn't the only one who fears losing a loved one. And then reminds her that she at least has a chance to say goodbye if it came to it, he never got the chance with his father.
  • The Comically Serious: Much like his canon counterpart. He is also often dragged into antics by Maya.
  • Consummate Professional: Just like his Canonverse counterpart. Tragically to his detriment. As it was this attitude he needs to keep a calm and professional front to be strong for everyone, that he didn’t allow himself to grieve over the death of his father.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Just like his canon counterpart.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Much like his canon counterpart, he’s got very dry wit and can snark with the best of them.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Maya calls him ”Miley”.
Canonverse Phoenix: He was still trying to process her nickname for Edgeworth. Nick was a normal nickname for anyone, it wasn't the least bit embarrassing. Miley on the other hand... how the heck did he not die from shame hearing her call him that in public?
  • Gentleman and a Scholar: Like his canon counterpart.
  • Last-Name Basis: Like his canon counterpart, he refers to Phoenix as just "Wright".
  • The Mentor: To Athena in this universe. See Ambiguous Situation.
  • Missing Mom: A throwaway line reveals that his mother died when he was very young, from cancer.
  • Only Sane Man: Surrounded by wacky characters (especially when next to his stepsister, Maya). He tries to maintain professionalism and level-headedness.
  • The Rival: Like canon, is one to Phoenix.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Has a platonic version of this dynamic with his stepsister Maya. It's hinted that he has a similar dynamic with his protege, Athena.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: He looks a lot like his father, Gregory Edgeworth.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: Just like Canonverse Edgeworth.
  • Tall, Dark, and Snarky: Like his canon counterpart.

A defense attorney working under the Edgeworth & Fey Law Offices. The older sister of Maya Fey, and older stepsister to Miles Edgeworth. She is the mentor to Apollo in this universe. When the Phoenix Wrights are switched, she's under police custody as she's been accused of murdering her stepfather, Gregory Edgeworth.

Protege to Mia Fey, he has a lot in common with his canon counterpart's personality and desire to be a great defense attorney.

Athena Blackquill

Art by CherryArt331.

Protege to Miles Edgeworth. She has a lot in common with her canon counterpart, however due to reasons not yet known, she is adopted by Simon Blackquill.

  • Ambiguous Situation:
    • For some reason she's adopted by Simon, despite the UR-1 incident never happening. Something must have happened to her mother in order for her to be adopted by Simon Blackquill.
    • How she came to meet Edgeworth and be mentored by him has not been divulged yet at this time.
  • Anime Hair: The ponytail isn't so bad, but her bangs defies gravity.
  • Butt-Monkey: Prosecutorverse Phoenix can never remember her or Apollo's names, he also assumes they are interns.
  • Color Motif: Yellow like her canon counterpart.
  • Ditzy Genius: Has qualifications in both law and psychology. She's also hyper and clumsy.
  • The Empath: She can actually sense the attitude and feelings of the people around her.
  • Fiery Redhead: Just like her canon counterpart.
  • Genki Girl: Very excitable and she's eager to do Apollo's Chords of Steel exercise with him.
  • Living Lie Detector: Just like her canon counterpart, her superhuman hearing helps her catch changes in a person's emotional state, combined with her Mood Matrix, can help her detect lies.
  • Meaningful Rename: Implied, with how she's shown to be anxious about being called Athena Cykes.
  • Missing Mom: The fate of her mother is unknown at this time.
  • Orphan's Plot Trinket: Much like her canon counterpart, she still wears the single moon rock earring.
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: Much like her canon counterpart, she's short and petite, but she is not to be underestimated.
  • The Pollyanna: Hinted she has this in common with Canonverse Athena.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Just like canon, has this dynamic with Apollo. It's also hinted she has a platonic version of this dynamic with her boss and mentor, Miles Edgeworth.
  • Super-Senses: Much like her canon counterpart.
  • You Can Always Tell a Liar: See Living Lie Detector.

Maya Fey

The younger sister of Mia Fey and the stepsister of Miles Edgeworth. The only one amongst her siblings who isn't a defense attorney. Instead, she's the heiress to the Kurain Channeling Technique.

Mia and Maya Fey's cousin, and the younger half-sister of Iris.

  • The Baby of the Bunch: She's 16 years younger than her older half-sister, Iris.
  • Badass Adorable: She has pretty good aim when using boots, so much so that she caused even the police to hesitate on their investigation because they feared of being pelted by the teenage girl holding up in the Edgeworth & Fey Law Offices.
  • Cheerful Child: Well cheerful teen, much like her canon counterpart.
  • Child Prodigy: Is just as naturally gifted at being a spirit medium as her canon counterpart.
  • Improvised Weapon: Wields a boot as a weapon. It's surprisingly effective.
  • Missing Mom: Morgan's fate and whereabouts are unknown at this time.
  • Muggle Born of Mages: Inverted just like her canon counterpart. Her mother had little to no spiritual powers while she's a Child Prodigy.
  • Nephewism: Instead of Misty, Morgan is out of the picture. Due to this, Misty raised Pearl.
  • Older Than They Look: Just like her canon counterpart, she's 17 going on 18 but looks like she's 14.
  • Pink Means Feminine: She wears more pink in her outfit as opposed to light purple like canon.
  • Practically Different Generations: See The Baby of the Bunch. Just like canon, Pearl is 16 years younger than her half-sister, Iris.
  • Shipper on Deck: Is very supportive of Maya dating Prosecutor Blackquill, and also this for her half-sister, Iris with her husband Doug Swallow.

The daughter of Morgan Fey, the older half-sister of Pearl Fey and the cousin of Mia and Maya Fey.

  • Ambiguous Situation: The fate of her twin sister and mother are still unknown in this universe.
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: Her outfit color scheme seems to predominantly be magenta/purple as opposed to her more pinkish color palette for her canon counterpart. She is also described as extremely elegant and kind.
  • Happily Married: Is married to Doug Swallow, who ironically dated her sister Dahlia in the Canonverse. They have a 3 year old daughter named Lily.
  • The Maiden Name Debate: In the Kurain village, Iris is known as Iris Fey, but outside of that, she's called Iris Swallow.
  • Missing Mom: Morgan's fate and whereabouts are unknown at this time.
  • Nephewism: Apparently, Morgan Fey is out of the picture. Due to this, she was raised by her aunt Misty.
  • Onee-sama: Is this to her younger half-sister, Pearl.
  • Practically Different Generations: Just like canon, she’s 16 years older than her younger half-sister, Pearl.
  • Proper Lady: Iris is described to be an elegant and beautiful woman.
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: Iris and her husband Doug are this, much like her canon counterpart was when she dated Phoenix.

Gregory Edgeworth

Portrait edited by coolman229

Due to the DL-6 case never occurring, Gregory doesn’t die yet. A couple years after the deaths of the Wrights, he ended up meeting Misty Fey after rescuing her daughters from a train hijack. They fell in love and eventually married. As his son and older stepdaughter grew older and became defense attorneys, he mentored them and they worked at the same firm. Unfortunately... Gregory ended up being murdered for reasons currently unknown... and his stepdaughter Mia is the prime suspect.

  • Curtains Match the Window: His hair might have gotten slightly gotten white on the sides due to age, Gregory has gray hair and gray eyes, just like his son.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Gregory lives longer in this universe but ultimately still gets murdered before the start of the story. In canon he was shot, in this story he dies from being pushed out of a window.
  • Doomed by Canon: As stated in Dies Differently in Adaptation. He lived longer in this universe, but he was ultimately doomed to be murdered eventually.
  • Good Parents:
    • Gregory is portrayed as an excellent father, both to his biological son and his stepdaughters, Mia and Maya.
    • He does his best to comfort his son and Phoenix after both are terribly distraught about the deaths of the Mr. and Mrs. Wright.
    • Iris and Pearl (the latter especially) both miss him greatly, implying he’s a surrogate father to them both.
  • Second Love: He and Misty found love with each other years after they've had their children.
  • Too Good for This Sinful Earth: Unfortunately... while Gregory got to live about 25 years more than his canon counterpart, he was still murdered in this universe.

Misty Fey

Art by Sushi.

The mother of Mia and Maya Fey and the stepmother of Miles Edgeworth, as well as the current Master to the Kurain Channeling Technique.

  • Happily Married: Is implied to be this with Gregory.
  • Good Parents:
    • Is this to both her daughters and stepson.
    • Morgan’s fate is unknown but Misty stepped in for Iris and Pearl.
  • Good Stepmother: To Edgeworth, she basically is his mother. She’s always treated him like one of her own. And when Edgeworth bottles up his pain and grief over his father’s death, Misty helps him open up. As well as provides him much needed comfort when he finally allows himself to grieve.
  • Graceful Ladies Like Purple: She is very elegant and well mannered. As her character art shows she also wears purple.
  • Mama Bear: Implied. She vows to Mia when she visits her in the detention center that she refuses to let them take her daughter away from her. And despite her gentle demeanor she was able to firmly order a guard out of the detention center just so she can have some alone time to speak with her stepson to comfort him. Considering her Canonverse counterpart went to great lengths to protect Maya, it's no surprise her Prosecutorverse counterpart has shades of this as well.
  • Second Love: She and Gregory found love with each other years after they've had their children.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: Is a kind woman but has a will of iron.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: An elegant woman who is kind and gentle. She is a loving wife and mother/stepmother. However she can be stern and has a strong will.

Simon Blackquill

Art by CherryArt.

The UR-1 incident never happened, he remained a prosecutor, for reasons still unknown he adopted Athena. He also briefly interned under Prosecutor Phoenix when studying law.

  • Ambiguous Situation: The UR-1 incident never happened, but apparently he still goes by the title of "Twisted Samurai" despite never going to jail. How he got it is unclear at this time. Also how it came to be that he adopted Athena. Something must have happened to lead to that, but at this time we're still in the dark.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Under his long-coat is a sharply dressed business suit.
  • Badass Longcoat: Not as fancy as his canon counterpart, but he still has a cool long-coat.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He may be less grim compared to his canon counterpart, but he’s still snarky.
  • Everything's Better with Samurai: Just like his canon counterpart, he has a love for Japanese culture and samurai.
  • First-Name Basis: Everyone else is called by their last name with an honorific. With the exception of his girlfriend; he calls her by her first name with an honorific, “Maya-chan”. And just like canon, he refers to Athena by her first name.
  • Foreign Culture Fetish: See Everything's Better with Samurai above.
  • Opposites Attract: Blackquill has this with his girlfriend, Maya.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: He’s tall and dark haired, but he also lacks the severe bags under his eyes, just as handsome as the younger Simon Blackquill was in the flashback images of Dual Destinies.
  • Tall, Dark, and Snarky: Similar to his canon counterpart.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: No UR-1 incident means he was never arrested for a crime he didn’t commit. He prosecuted instead still all that time and even adopted Athena. He’s by no means a cheerful man, but he’s definitely a lot less morbid compared to his canon counterpart. He still seems to go by the Twisted Samurai however for reasons unknown at this time.
  • Troll: He couldn’t resist messing with Klavier in Chapter 6.

Klavier Gavin

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/93562d00_9ba6_43d3_bebf_25a2c6275a21.jpeg
Art by CherryArt.

Part time prosecutor and part time rock star, lead singer of the Gavinners.

  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Smart enough to become a prosecutor and balance out a job in law and as a rock star, but slacks off on getting paperwork done, much to his assistant's annoyance.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Just like canon, both a prosecutor and a rock star.
  • The Charmer: One of Klavier's defining traits is his charm.
  • Cloud Cuckoolanders Minder: Surprisingly enough, he’s this with his assistant/band manager, instead of the other way around. To Phoenix she’s like an emotionless robot, but Klavier seems to understand when she’s angry, embarrassed, or happy.
  • The Gadfly: He hasn’t had a major appearance yet compared to canon, but he shows shades of this with his teasing attitude towards Phoenix and Blackquill.

Phoenix's deceased parents, who died when Phoenix was only 10 years old. The identity of their murderer is one of the biggest mysteries of the story.
