Dream Partners

    Yume Hinata
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cr_yume.png
Voiced by: Natsumi Murakami

The main character and Mew’s Dream Partner. She's a bright girl who, despite being energetic, can also be a scatterbrain.

Tropes associated with Yume:

    Maira Tsukishima
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maira_transparent.png
Voiced by: Ayasa Itō

Peko’s partner. She works as a model for the Petit Strawberry Magazine (aka "Ichi-mo"), and she’s obsessed with comedy. She and Peko form a comedy duo named “Nonfat-Powdered Milk”.

Tropes associated with Maira:

  • Blatant Lies: Her magazine profile is made out of stuff that was made up by her agency, but the thing that takes the cake is where it states she comes from the "Land Of Strawberries", which obviously doesn't exist.
  • Catchphrase: “My love” and “A-pon!”.
  • Custom Uniform: Her school uniform is pinkier than the others.
  • Does Not Like Spam: She is not a fan of natto.
  • Missing Mom: Her mother died on her birthday due to an illness.
  • Serious Business: She takes comedy too seriously and feels defeated at things like possible rivaling duos or having her comedy insulted.
  • The Idiot from Osaka: She's a comedy lover who came from the Kansai region.

    Kotoko Imai
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kotoko_transparent.png
Voiced by: Eri Yukimura

Su’s partner. She’s the leader of the computer club. She disapproves the idea of humans going unemployed due to robots replacing their jobs and wishes for a world where humans and robots live peacefully.

Tropes associated with Kotoko:

  • Even the Girls Want Her: She's got a mountain of love letters from girls in her locker.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: She’s great at creating robots, which takes her computer club to another level compared to the others.
  • Oblivious to Love: She doesn't even know which kind of "love" the multitude of love letters she gets refer to. And when a mind-reading robot she made said Erito had feelings for her, she just ignores it.
  • Robot Buddy: Kotokoto, her first robot.

    Tokiwa Anzai
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cr_toliwa.png
Voiced by: Fairouz Ai

Nene’s partner. She originally was in Budo Middle School in Yamanochi, but later transfered to Ichigo Junior High after moving to Minamiichigo Town. At first, she was worried, but went along just fine after meeting everyone.

Tropes associated with Tokiwa:

  • My God, What Have I Done?: She feels guilty of Hasegawa not being able to play the piano well in episode 14 due to her hitting her in the arm in the dodgeball match. ...except she didn't hit the arm she later couldn't play with.
  • New Transfer Student: Even though she was introduced in episode 8 where she helped out Wakaba, episode 13 introduces her as a main character like this.
  • Pom-Pom Girl: While also in the choir club, she is also part of the cheerleader club along with Yume and Wakaba.
  • Passionate Sports Girl
  • Sixth Ranger: She joins the main gang in episode 13.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: She and her family treat ghosts as regular stuff.
  • Victim of the Week: In episode 13, which is also the episode where she joins the Dream Partners.

    Asahi Minamikawa
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cr_asahi.png

Yume’s next-door neighbor and childhood friend, also Rei's partner. He’s currently a first-year in the tennis club.

Tropes associated with Asahi:

  • Childhood Friend: With Yume, who's also his neighbor.
  • Deadpan Snarker: At times in the first season.
  • Expy: Of Seiji from HappinessCharge Pretty Cure! and Mochizou from Tamako Market.
  • Just Friends: Poor guy got friend-zoned in his dream in episode 7. Good thing (or not) he doesn’t know that’s the IRL Yume.
  • Living Prop: Despite being one of the main characters, he has very little-to-no interaction with other Dream Partners and anyone outside of Yume, Rei, and (to a lesser extent) Haruhito, and sometimes, like in episodes 44 and 48, ends up being in the background.
  • New Meat: He’s just a first year and his only work in the tennis club is setting up for that reason. But when a player got absent, he was chosen by Haruhito to take his place.

Dreamy Mates

    In general

  • Came from the Sky: All dreamy mates fell from the sky so they can be found by their dream partners.
  • Falling into His Arms:
    • This is how Mew, Peko, and Rei met their Dream Partners.
    • Zig-Zagged with Su, who fell on Kotoko's house roof, and was later caught by her robotic hand as she was falling down said roof.
    • Averted with Nene, who instead fell down on a boot in the river and was picked up by Tokiwa.
  • Living Toys: Living plushies, to be more specific.
  • Mentor Mascot: To some extent, but especially Rei towards Asahi.

    Mew
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mew_chan.png
Voiced by: Aki Toyosaki

Yume’s Dreamy Mate and the Series Mascot. She is able to use Dream Synchro with Yume.

Tropes associated with Mew:

  • Butt-Monkey: Poor kitten gets the worst stuff happen to her, such as being weirdly dressed by a child, scared away by dogs, and accidentally being left behind by Yume twice.
  • Supreme Chef: She's surprisingly good at cooking, as seen by her tomato-themed feast in Episode 17.
  • Verbal Tic: -mya.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She is scared of dogs. She does get warmed up to Q, though.

Asahi's Dreamy Mate. He refers to himself as a prince from the "country of love".

  • Early-Bird Cameo: In Episode 1, we see the fairies making a plush cat. The fact that it's white and that the fairies are using cyan thread indicate that it might be him.
  • Expy: Of Flat the mouse from Onegai My Melody.
  • Gratuitous French
  • Romantic Wingman: After he first comes to life, he starts to help Asahi get romantically closer to Yume.
  • Sixth Ranger: Despite meeting Asahi in episode 20, he doesn't really join the gang till episode 25.

    Cheer
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chiachan.png
Voiced by: Kana Ichinose

A new Dreamy Mate introduced in Mix. So far it is unknown who's her Dream Partner, if any.

Tropes associated with Cheer:

Villains

    Yuni
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cr_yuni.png
Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya

An evil plush cat that specializes in making people go crazy by putting black abysses in their black schemas. Said Black Abysses turn into Dreamy Stones once purified.

Tropes associated with Yuni:

  • Accidental Misnaming: His enemies could never get his name right early on the show.
  • Dream Weaver: His Black Abysses can be used to create monsters inside people’s dreams, which, as a result, can completely alter them. Yunicchi abysses are more powerful, as they can affect inanimate objects too, and they don't require a Dreamy Stone.
  • Expy: He's a male version of Diana from Jewelpet (2009) and, to a lesser extent, Kuromi from Onegai My Melody.
  • I Owe You My Life: It makes sense why he’s so loyal to The Nightmare Queen when you learn that she was the only one to notice him when he fell.
  • Laughably Evil: A cute little brown plush cat with a cute squeaky voice. That’s the person that goes around making upset people go nuts.
  • Verbal Tic: -nyui.

    Tsugi and Hagi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cr_tsugi_hagi.png
Voiced by: Misaki Kuno (Tsugi), Natsumi Fujiwara (Hagi)
Tsugi on the left, Hagi on the right

Two identical flat plush cats created by Yuni. They’re his assistants and friends.

Tropes associated with Tsugi and Hagi:

  • Half-Identical Twins: The only thing that set them apart are the position of their bowtie and whichever ear is covered by the brown spot.
  • Love Imbues Life: The reason why they’re alive is because of the love Yuni put into them, especially since he made them so he could never be alone again.
  • Meaningful Name: When combining their names, you get “tsugihagi”, which means “patchwork”, referencing the fact that Yuni made them himself.
  • Verbal Tic: They both have their names as tics.

    Haruhito Sugiyama
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hrht.png
Voiced by: Yuuki Ogoe

Leader of both the tennis club and student council. Becomes Yuni's partner later on.

Tropes associated with Haruhito:

  • Brainwashed: Becomes brainwashed by The Nightmare Queen starting Episode 24, and the brainwashing gets tougher in episode 37.
  • Instant Fan Club: He’s got a massive fan club that sometimes even surrounds him.
  • Last-Name Basis: Everyone but Yuri refers to him as "Sugiyama".
  • Student Council President
  • Successful Sibling Syndrome: His brother, Akihito has always been better than him every since they were little, despite Akki being the youngest. This makes Haruhito always try his best to beat his level.

    Lyra
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/queennight.jpg
Voiced by: Aya Hisakawa

Yuni’s boss. Also Lucia's sister.

Tropes associated with Lyra:

  • Big Bad: Of season 1.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!
  • The Faceless: She appeared as a shadowy silhouette, with only her eyes visible until Episode 44, where her face is finally revealed.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Takuan

    Akihito "Ackey" Sugiyama
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/akihito_4.png
Voiced by: Yukiyo Fujii

Haruhito's younger brother who lives in America. Becomes Akumu's minion in Mix.

Tropes associated with Akihito:

  • Affably Evil: While he is his brother's replacement as Yuni's partner in Mix, he has no vengeful intents and his will to spread nightmares wasn't out of any past experience unlike him, he is just trying to use his role as villain as he thinks it can help make true his visioned virtual world future. And while he seems to enjoy his bad guy spot, he does seem to be genuinely kind to Yume and co., and he appreciated the time Yuni's trio threw a birthday party for him once even if he didn't wanted one.
  • Child Prodigy: He was able to make robots when he was only a preschooler!
  • Perpetual Smiler
  • Villainous Crush: At the end of episode 14 of Mix, he starts developing a crush on Yume.

  • Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure: She and Haruhito are both childhood friends, but after he was brainwashed by the Nightmare Queen, their conversations started decreasing. Now she depends on Yume to do anything for him, like giving him the present she made for him in episode 32, thinking she wouldn't accept it if it's from her.
