Follow the Leader: Is this with Pretty Cure, as both series are Magical Girl shows where a villain corrupts a victim of the week, has a character transform to bring them back to normal and collect MacGuffins along the way.
No Budget: According to the producer, the reason why Mix had less animated episodes, as well as why the Ichi-Naru episodes exist in the first place, is that the staff of the anime was given a smaller budget than what the first season had because the merchandise’s sales weren’t as good as the producers were hoping for, and considering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic at the time, it may have affected the sales as well.
Screwed by the Merchandise: As detailed in No Budget above, as a result of the merchandise’s disappointing sales, the second season has only 37 out of 50 episodes that were animated, while the other 13 ones, which were produced in a completely different studio, were live-action to fill the gap.
What Could Have Been: Originally, Chiaki Kon was going to direct the show until she stepped down later because of "unknown issues". however, she remained as Project Consultant for the first season, as well as directing few episodes (1, 2, 25, and 44) and writing the screenplay for episode 10.
