Stand Together

"Justice. Honor. Duty. Proud Demacia sits on the northwestern edge of Runeterra. Once a safe haven from a brutal war, Demacia is now caught between the shifting tides of time. Can this mighty kingdom evolve to further serve its people, or do they face obsoletion along the march of progress? Stand on the side of justice!"

Legends of Runeterra cards based in the region of Demacia.

    General Tropes

  • Horse of a Different Color: Demacia has more than just horses, but there's the Silverwing Raptor and Geneviere Elmheart's stag Greathorn Companion.
  • Super-Toughness: Demacia utilizes the Tough keyword for many of their units, both through spells and as unit passives. This gives the region an emphasis on building highly durable comps. Several champions express the trope in their own ways too; Lux's Prismatic Barrier defends her and her allies from damage consistently, Garen's Regenerate allows him to sustain himself through multiple turns, Fiora's Challenger and Lucian's Quick Attack allow them to choose advantageous fights to take out enemy defenses, Shyvana gets progressively stronger and sturdier for every enemy she kills, and Poppy's passive constantly grants herself and allies stat boosts that sustain them in battle.

Factions

The Dauntless Vanguard

Demacia's elite military force lead by Garen. Many of these units are classified as Elites, granting them special bonuses from certain spells and passives

  • Elite Army: They're decorated as Demacia's finest soldiers, even having the Elite type. Many of the cards associated with the Dauntless Vanguard are known for their staying power, whether it is their high Health or the Tough keyword.

The Mageseekers

A shadowy division of the Demacian government that persecutes the use of magic. Their abilities triggered whenever the player casts a 6+ mana spell, allowing them to synergize with Lux.

House Laurent

A family of nobles known for their world-famous sword prowess. Fiora is the current head of the family after her father's death. They utilize the Challenger keyword, allowing them to force enemy units to block their strikes.

The Ranger Knights

A military branch specializing in reconnaissance, of which Quinn and Valor are members of. They often utilize the Scout keyword, allowing them to perform a preliminary attack before their main one.

  • Forest Ranger: They are border watchman who protect Demacia's wilderness. Many of these ranger-knights, including Quinn, have the Scout keyword, an effect that allow any cards with the Scout keyword to attack without expending an attack token once per round.

The Dragonguard

A branch dedicated to studying and countering dragons. Shyvana is a major member of the group. Their abilities synergize well with Dragon units.

Lux

Voiced By: Carrie Keranen
5-mana | 4/5 | Barrier

"The sun is shining, we should too!"

Click to see her Leveled Up card

"I've always known there's something different about me... a light from within. I'm not sure what it is, but I have to find out!"

Born and raised in the magic-hating Demacia, Lux suppressed her unique gifts for years out of guilt and fear from those around her. Finally embracing her extraordinary ability to bend light to her will, she finds a renewed optimism and bravery that leads her on a quest to create a better life for herself and mages like her.

Lux levels up when she sees her player cast a combined 6+ mana worth of spells, gaining +1/+1, creating a Final Spark (a 0-mana Fleeting Slow spell which does 4 damage to an enemy unit which uniquely has Overwhelm, causing overkill damage to strike the enemy Nexus, or just does 4 damage to the enemy Nexus if they have no units) in your hand, and passively generating another Final Spark every time you spend another 6 mana on spells. Her signature spell is Lux's Prismatic Barrier.
See League of Legends: Lux for her tropes.

Garen

5-mana | 5/5 | Regeneration | Elite

"We fight for those who cannot!"

Click to see his Leveled Up card

"You think me rigid. Single-minded. Predictable. I am rigid, for nothing can sway me. I am single-minded, for I believe in Demacia. And I am predictable, for I will surely defeat you."

The model soldier of Demacia, Garen Crownguard leads the mighty Dauntless Vanguard, and is a personal right hand to Emperor Jarvan IV. Being caught up in the Demacian civil war has tested his loyalty and principles, pitting his duty as Demacia's Might against his family bonds, such as his mage sister Lux.

When Garen is summoned, he gives all other allies +1/+1 for the round. He levels up when he strikes twice, gaining +1/+1 and giving you a Rally at the start of each round, allowing you to attack during the enemy's round. His signature spell is Garen's Judgement.
See League of Legends: Garen for his tropes.

Lucian

"Push back the darkness!"

Click to see his Leveled Up card

"World's full of monsters. If you're lucky, they're the ones you can see. The worst are the ones that stay under your skin."

A hardened sentinel of light, Lucian dedicates his life to ridding the world of the evil created by the ruination. He suffered through years of guilt and anger from almost losing his wife Senna to Thresh, and he's determined to never let the same loss happen twice.

If Lucian sees either 4+ allies or Senna die, he levels up, gaining +1/+1 and Double Attack, and granting you a Rally the first time another ally dies each round. His signature spell is Lucian's Relentless Pusuit.
See League of Legends: L-M for his tropes.

Fiora

"I long for a worthy opponent."

Click to see her Leveled Up card

"From arena to tournament, training ground to battleground, I long for a worthy opponent. I will not rest until I know I am the greatest."

The prestigious head of House Laurent, Fiora's skills with a blade are second to none, and makes her name as a world-renowned duelist. In the wake of House Laurent's name being tarnished, she seeks to restore her family name to its former glory.

Fiora levels up upon killing 2 enemy units without dying, gaining +1/+1. When she kills 4 enemy units in total without dying, she destroys the enemy Nexus, instantly winning the game. Her signature spell is Fiora's Riposte.
See League of Legends: D-F for her tropes.

The Rising Tides

Quinn

5-Mana | 3/5 | Scout

Quinn summons a copy of Valor (a 2/1 Demacia Follower costing 2 mana with Scout and Challenger) when she's summoned. When she's seen you attack 4 times she levels up, gaining +1/+1 and summoning an attacking copy of Valor which automatically challenges the strongest enemy unit every time she attacks. Her signature spell is Quinn's Blinding Assault.

See League of Legends: P-R for her tropes.

Call of the Mountain

Shyvana

Voiced By: Karen Strassman
4-Mana | 3/4 | Fury | Dragon

Shyvana gets +1/+1 until the end of the round when she attacks. When she sees allied Dragon units do 12 or more damage she levels up, becoming "Dragon Shyvana", gaining +1/+1, upgrading her attack ability to +2/+2, and also generating a Fleeting Strafing Strike (3-mana Fast spell that makes an ally and enemy strike each other, then heals the ally for 2 if it's a Dragon) in your hand when she attacks. Her signature spell is Shyvana's Confront.

See League of Legends: Sa-Sh for her tropes.

Empires of the Ascended

Jarvan IV

Voiced By: Kyle Hebert
6-Mana | 6/4 | Barrier | Elite

Jarvan IV plays himself from your hand at Burst speed when you declare an attack, causing him to automatically challenge the strongest enemy unit. When allies have survived 3 or more strikes from enemy blockers he levels up, gaining +1/+1, creating a Fleeting Cataclysm (a 3-mana slow spell that causes an ally to start a free attack challenging an enemy) in his controller's hand at the start of each round, and gaining Barrier whenever he challenges an enemy. His signature spell is Jarvan IV's Cataclysm.

See League of Legends: I-J for his tropes

Beyond the Bandlewood

Poppy (Dual-Bandle City Champ)

See Legends of Runeterra: Bandle City for her and other yordles

Galio

Voiced By: John Petersdorf
7-Mana | 0/8 | Formidable/Spellshield

Galio grants all other allies +3 Health when summoned. If you control 25+ Health worth of allies at the end of a round, Galio levels up, gaining +2 Health and Rallying the first time an ally takes damage each round. His signature spell is Galio's Shield of Durand.

    Common

Brightsteel Protector

2-Mana | 2/1 | Common

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brightsteelprotector.jpg
"I've got your back!"

"We are a prosperous nation because each warrior's fate is a coin we will never be content to spend."
-King Jarvan III

A Demacian soldier skilled with the shield. When the protector is summoned, she grants an allied unit a barrier for the round.

  • Barrier Warrior: A Demacian knight identifiable by her shield. In-game, she can protect allied units with barrier
  • Big Damn Heroes: Her art shows he defending a fellow soldier from a striking arrow.

Cithria of Cloudfield

1-Mana | 2/2 | Common | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cithira.jpg
"New recruit, reporting in!"

"Each night before bed, my mother would tell me stories of Demacia's greatest heroes as she sharpened her sword. My dreams were full of adventures, and today I'll begin a story all my own."

A young Cithria who's arrived in Demacia for the first time.

See League of Legends: Others for her lore-related tropes

  • BFS: She has a big sword hanging off her waist. Granted it's made of wood, but the thought still counts.
  • Com Mons: Cithria is designed to be an easy, low-cost unit to play, making her a common starting card for a Demacia deck. Her all-rounded, if a bit weak, stats allow her to be used in a versatile set of circumstances from offense, defending the nexus, and being buffed into a stronger unit with spell cards and special summons.
  • Vanilla Unit: Cithria of Cloudfield is one of the plainest units in the game, being one of the cheapest units in the game at 1-mana and having no keywords or passive effects for dynamic play. While she does have slightly higher stats than what her cost implies, 2-power and 2-health for a 1-cost card, nothing about her is really gonna be swinging the game around.

Dauntless Vanguard

3-Mana | 3/3 | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dauntlessvanguard.jpg
"Stand strong!"

"The Dauntless Vanguard are Demacia's most elite warriors, each a legend in their village or shire. But all of them seek to have their names known throughout the realm."

A rank of elite soldiers in the Demacian army. While not collectible, the soldiers can be summoned by a number of spells.

  • Elite Mook: These guys are some of the strongest and most revered soldiers of the Demacian military. They're also much tougher than most low-cost units in the game as a result.
  • We Have Reserves: The spell "For the Fallen" supplements Demacia's usual gameplan of playing a lot of Elites by becoming cheaper while it awaits in hand, and eventually if the enemy manages to wipe out your board, it can immediately refill with new 3/3 Dauntless Vanguard soldiers. And if you happened to draw another Elite in the meantime, it will get cheaper in turn.

Fleetfeather Tracker

1-Mana | 2/1 | Common

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fleetfeathertracker.jpg
*CAAWW*

"These relatives of the silverwing raptors have the predatory instincts of their cousins alongside a dogged unfamiliarity with their own comparatively diminutive size."

An attack bird for the Demacian army. If another allied unit is summoned while it is on the board, it gains Challenger.

  • Boring, but Practical: This bird can be taken out in a single hit from most units, and poses little threat to tankier units with more health. But having the Challenger keyword means it can keep enemy units occupied and take key defensive units out of selection, making way for more powerful units to lead the offense.
  • Glass Cannon: Their damage output is disproportionately high for their one point of HP.

Laurent Duelist

3-Mana | 4/2

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/laurentduelist.png
"Let us settle this with grace and civility."

"He seemed a preening fop with an expensive blade—turns out he really knew how to swing that sword! I'd demand a rematch, but I missed his name with that ridiculous accent."
-Demacian ensign

A refined and highly skilled duelist in the Laurent family. Upon being played, the Laurent Duelist will give the Challenger keyword to an ally of choice for one round.

  • Beware the Silly Ones: His card text describes him as unassuming and a bit ridiculous to the average Demacian, but being a Laurent, his blade skills shouldn't be underestimated.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": He's pleasantly surprised if an enemy Fiora challenges him.
Duelist: "Madame, you would fight me?"
Fiora: "Save your words. We speak with blades."
  • Let's Fight Like Gentlemen: One of his summon quotes has him declare that he shall fight with "grace and nobility".

Laurent Protege

3-Mana | 2/4 | Challenger

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/laurentprotoge.png
"Who does not know the name Laurent?"

"He did WHAT? I entrusted him with Pierre de Guillard's priceless dual-balanced sabre! He said it was only to be used for training!"
-Laurent Bladekeeper

An arrogant and somewhat reckless duelist in the Laurent family.

  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He's quite braggadocios towards the enemy, constantly boasting of his skills with a blade.
"I'll close my eyes, make it fair."
  • Weak, but Skilled: His attack power isn't anything special, but having challenger lets him take out weaker units easily due to good durability.

Mageseeker Conservator

1-Mana | 1/1 | Last Breath

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mageseekerconservator.jpg

"Confine and contain."
"Arcane items have undeniable intrigue. But these objects of power are best left to the capable hands of our experts, and away from the well-meaning ignorance of our citizens."
- Mageseeker's Handbook
A Mageseeker responsible for handling magical items. Upon dying, the Conservator will create in the player's hand a random spell that costs 6 or more from a region other than Demacia.
  • Malevolent Masked Man: He wears the mask of the Mageseekers, a cruel task force that seeks to eradicate magic from Demacia.

Mageseeker Investigator

3-Mana | 3/3

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mageseekerinvestigator.jpg
"Nothing to worry about, if you have nothing to hide"

"Forgive the intrusion, but we will require your full cooperation. We have been notified of some... 'unusual happenings'..."

A Mageseeker on the hunt for suspected mages. If the player has cast a 6+ cost spell this game before or while she is in play, she will grant the player a copy of Detain (a 5-mana Fast spell that allows an ally to capture any other unit).

  • Faux Affably Evil: Her card text makes her out to be polite when interacting with the public. But of course her real goal is to detain magic users, who in Demacia are subject to brutal incarceration.
  • Knight Templar: She carries out the anti-magic fervor of Demacia with no remorse. It's implied she suspects Lux for her magic, and is on her tail trying to capture her.
    "Magic must be stopped!"

Plucky Poro

1-Mana | 1/1 | Tough | Poro

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pluckyporo.jpg

"New recruit has the kind of endurance and courage shown by our finest soldiers. Will he make it to the Vanguard someday? He's... smaller than the rest, but we'll see."
-Vanguard Sergeant

A poro that somehow made his way into the Demacian army as a soldier.

  • Badass Cape: Parodied Trope. He gets his own little blue soldier cape that while badass on a human soldier, just makes him look more adorable.
  • Joke Character: It has measly stats, and no special characteristics other being able to withstand a single point of damage thanks to the tough keyword. It can however be used in conjunction with Heart of the Fluft, creating a Fluft of Poros card with the tough keyword, making it into a decent Mighty Glacier unit.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: The little guy is accompanied in his art by some very exasperated soldiers who just look at him in disblief.

Silverwing Diver

4-Mana | 2/3 | Elusive, Tough

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/silverwingdiver.jpg

"Arrows rained down from the fortress walls in droves, but none could touch that fleck of silver darting through the sky."

A scout unit flying atop a silverwing raptor.

  • Lightning Bruiser: In it's flavor text, the raptor travels so fast that almost no one can strike it midair, a trait reflected by its Elusive keyword. And on top of that it has Tough, which makes it even harder to take down.

Silverwing Vanguard

4-Mana | 2/1 | Challenger | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/silverwingvanguard.jpg

"They fell from the clouds like silvery bolts of lightning, swift and sure as they dove toward their targets. Then, as suddenly as they appeared, they were gone."

A cavalry if swiftwing raptors aligned with the Dauntless Vanguard. When the Vanguard are summoned, an exact copy of them is summoned besides them.

  • Death from Above: Their art has them flying in a downwards motion, about to launch an assault. Their flavor text describes them as doing so and retreating at an impossible speed.
  • Fragile Speedster: They're described as incredibly fast, but have only one point of health, making them easy to kill.

Vanguard Cavalry

5-Mana | 5/5 | Tough | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vanguardcavalry.jpg
"Side by side, into battle!"

"The Vanguard needed no drums, no music to keep time in their advance. Only the steady, even beat of hooves against soil."

An elite cavalry unit of the Dauntless Vanguard.

  • BFS: While it could certainly just be a perspective trick, the swords they wield are massive, and can be held one-handed to boot.
  • Face Death with Dignity: They can die expressing acceptance of their fate and actions.
    "A noble end..."
  • Mighty Glacier: They're an incredibly sturdy follower thanks to their high health and power, along with the tough keyword. This lets them both deal and take a lot of damage.

Vanguard Defender

2-Mana | 2/2 Tough | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vanguarddefender.jpg
"To the field!"

"We didn't know who or what those creatures were. But we knew the faces of our fellow soldiers by our sides, and that was all we needed."

A soldier battling the legions of the Shadow Isles with alongside his comrades.

  • Mook: Among other elite units, the Defender is much cheaper and has lower stats, making them suited more for early game combat.

Vanguard Firstblade

Voiced By: Owen Thomas
4-Mana | 2/2 | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vanguardfirstblade.png
"Victory lies ahead."

The battle cry sounds, and my feet are already turning over the soil. I need nothing but my lady's order to know my destiny and enact her will.

An elite swordfighter of the Vanguard. The Firstblade gains +2 health and power every time they attack.

  • Magikarp Power: He gains stats just by being used in an attack turn, meaning that the more he's deployed, the stronger he gets. Keeping him alive and on the offensive can cause his power to potentially snowball beyond the enemy's units.

Vanguard Lookout

2-Mana | 1/4 | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vanguardlookout.jpg
"Eyes peeled!"

"Just because it's quiet doesn't mean it's safe."

A Vanguard surveying the Demacian border.

  • Stone Wall: He has a measly one point of power, but fours points of health, making him suited more for defensive plays.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: Their entire gimmick is to block enemy attacks while shouting about it... no really; their stats and dialogue are only about defending Demacia's walls.
    "Won't pass these walls!"

Vanguard Redeemer

3-Mana | 3/3 | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vanguardredeemer.png
"Remember the fallen!"

"Our fallen shall be remembered in every battle cry, in every swing of our swords, and every crash of our shields! Today, we shall be victorious!"

A Vanguard fighting to avenge her fallen allies. If the Redeemer is summoned when an ally died that round, their player draws a unit from their deck.

  • And This Is for...: As they attack, they fight in their fallen allies' name.
    "For our allies!"

Vanguard Squire

4-Mana | 3/3 | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vanguardsquire.jpg
"My journey continues."

"Everyone I met, every journey I took taught me something new. But the more I learned and the stronger I became, the more I realized I had much further to go..." —>- Cithria, Vanguard Squire

Cithria as she appears as a soldier in the Dauntless Vanguard. Each time an Elite ally is summoned while she's in your hand, her mana cost is reduced by 1.

See League of Legends: Others for her lore-related tropes

  • Naïve Newcomer: Not as much as her initial incarnation, but she's still relatively new to the ranks, judging by her voice lines.

War Chefs

2-Mana | 2/2 | Support

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/warchefs.jpg
"Smell that? A fight's a-cooking!"

No one in the Demacian army should be trifled with.

A band of cooks who feed the Demacian army. The War Chefs support an attacking ally granting them +1 in power and health.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: As their flavor text puts it, "no one in the Demacian army should be trifled with". They may be chummy cooks who provide for their allies in Demacia, but they're also shown to be spirited fighters in their own right.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: Their card art shows them gleefully fending off a group of Noxian soldiers. Shout outs to the guy on the left who's bordering on Slasher Smile.
  • Chef of Iron: Their main job is to feed the Demacian army, and are just as tough and boisterous as any soldier in the army.
  • Frying Pan of Doom: The chef on the left is running at a Noxian soldier about to bash them in with a frying pan.
    "Pan to the face!"
  • Pungeon Master: They throw food puns into almost every line.
    "Batter 'em!"
    "Mm, a delicious challenge!"
    "A morsel of regret..."

    Rare

Battlesmith

2-Mana | 2/2

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/battlesmith.jpg
"The finest Demacian steel."

"Wars are won in the forge."

A blacksmith for the Demcian army. When you summon an Elite unit, the Battlesmith grants it +1 in power and health.

Laurent Bladekeeper

4-Mana | 3/3

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/laurentbladekeeper.jpg
"Strength in grace, beauty in the blade."

"Yes, they are beautiful. But like any fine instrument, they only reveal their true beauty in the hands of a master."

A weapons keeper of the Laurent family. Upon being played, the Bladekeeper will grant an ally 2 points in health and power.

  • Cool Old Guy: He's the one that designs the swords for the Laurent family, and is on good terms with Fiora as a result.
Bladekeeper: "The finest blades for my lady."
Fiora: "I need only one to win."
  • Cool Uncle: He's the uncle of the Laurent Protégé, who he seems to have good expectations for. Though he does get pissed when he learns his nephew ran off with a precious blade.
    Bladekeeper: "This one shows promise."
Laurent Protege: "Uncle! It is good to see you."

Mageseeker Inciter

4-Mana | 4/4

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mageseekerinciter_2.jpg
"I will keep us safe."
"Long ago, the wild magicks of the Rune Wars brought all Runeterra to its knees. Thus, our order was created to protect our kingdom by ridding it of magic, whether abroad or within."
- Mageseeker's Handbook

A Mageseeker looking out for Demacian citizens in public. If his controller has cast a 6+ mana spell during the game, he has an additional +2/+2.

  • Locked Out of the Loop: He doesn't seem to realize Lux is a mage, instead treating her like an ordinary, non-magic citizen of Demacia.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Compared to his fellow Mageseekers, the inciter's dialogue implies he has more noble intentions to defend Demacia's people rather than simply a pure hatred for magic itself. He even offers to defend Lux, not knowing she too is a mage.

Mageseeker Persuader

2-Mana | 3/2

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mageseekerpersuader.png
"Mages can't hide from me."

"Citizens of Demacia, it is my honor to keep you safe. But we must demand your unwavering support, for even within our high walls, mages still walk among us!"

An imposing Mageseeker with a threatening attitude. If his controller has cast a 6+ mana spell during the game, he has an additional +1/+1 and Challenger.

  • Beard of Evil: He's certainly not a friendly individual, being part of the brutal Mageseekers, and that beard does him no favors conveying otherwise.

Radiant Guardian

5-Mana | 4/5

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/radiantguardian.jpg
"Justice will be served!"

"Waves of cold undead hands pulled down her companions. Only she remained, a gleaming beacon of justice whose blade seemed to sing the names of the fallen with every swing."
- Demacian ensign

An determined warrior of the Illuminators, a religious faction that aids Demacia's most vulnerable citizens. If an ally died the round the Guardian is summoned, she gains the lifesteal and tough keywords.

  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Has long blonde hair that illuminates behind her as she fights legions of undead.
  • Implacable Man: Her keywords grant her a lot of durability, requiring a much stronger unit or source of damage in order to take her out.
  • Mythical Motifs: She heavily evokes angelic imagery, from her wing-like cape to the lights shining around her, and especially how she's fighting back the forces of the Shadow Isles.

Senna, Sentinel of Light

3-Mana | 4/2 | Quick Attack

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sennasentineloflight.png
"Sentinels of Light don't fear the dark."

"Our Sentinels are the first line of defense between the tide of restless undead and the realms of man. We hit first, hit hard, and NEVER back down when the lives of our companions are on the line."

Senna as she was originally before being captured by Thresh. The first time sees an allied Lucian die, she gains +1/+1 and replaces her Quick Attack with Double Attack.

See League of Legends: Sa-Sh for her tropes as a Champion.

  • Adaptational Wimp: Senna was initially unique as the only Champion from League to be a Follower card rather than a Champion. This is because her card is Senna, Sentinel of Light, representing her before she was killed by Thresh and trapped within his lantern for 6 years then released as the half-wraith cannon-toting champion she is on the Rift (Senna, the Redeemer).note  Her death is even a game mechanic for Lucian, enabling him to take up her gun as he levels up, gaining Double Attack. It's even possible for Lucian to be the one to die instead of her, causing her to take up his gun and gain Double Attack instead (although not being a Champion, she doesn't actually "level up"). She has since gained a Champion card of her own based on her playable iteration from League.
  • Morton's Fork: Facing Lucian and Senna on board simultaneously. Whichever one you try to kill off with your spells or powerful blockers, the other will take up their gun and become a much more powerful threat. Only rare Obliterate and Silence effects can allow you to dodge the trigger, while taking both out simultaneously is an even harder task.
  • Take Up My Sword: Just like how Lucian took up her gun when she was taken in the lore (and in-game), Senna will do the same if he dies first.

Swiftwing Lancer

5-Mana | 5/4 | Last Breath

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/swiftwinglancer.png

"It takes a bold heart to trust their life to a silverwing, locked in combat far above solid ground. Bold, and highly durable."
-Garen

A vanguard battling atop a swiftwing raptor. Upon dying, the lancer creates a random elite follower in their player's hand.

  • Dinosaurs Are Dragons: The raptor loosely resembles a feathered pterosaur. Though it does lean more into dragon or griffin territory.

Vanguard Bannerman

4-Mana | 3/3 | Allegiance | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vanguardbannerman.jpg
"For the glory of Demacia!"

"You must understand the weight of our banner. It flies for our king, our houses, our citizens. It is our unwavering belief in Demacia itself. Hold it high. Show them our pride."
Tianna Crownguard

A Demacian soldier rallying his comrades. If the top card of your deck is a Demacia card, he grants +1/+1 to all other allies when played.

  • Determinator: His lines are almost all to convey his determination, even upon facing danger or being killed.
    "Don't back down."
    <dying> "Our banner..."
  • Rousing Speech: His gameplay gimmick is to raise the morale of his fellow Demacians, granting them buffs as they're about to head into battle.

Vanguard Sergeant

3-Mana | 3/3 | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vanguardsergeant.jpg
"A Demacian soldier is worth ten foes!"

"He leads our drills from morning to night, and he's the first to head into the fray. Hard as steel, steady as stone—couldn't choose a finer leader." - Demacian ensign

An officer of the Dauntless Vanguard. When summoned, he creates a copy of For Demacia! (6-mana Slow spell that gives all allies +3/+3 for one round) in hand.

  • Badass Boast: See the quote above; it's not just an idle boast either, given that he generates a spell that can quite easily double the stats on your board for a turn.
  • Sergeant Rock: A tough leader holding the rank of sergeant, able to rally his troops and bolster their fighting skill.

(assorted war cries)

"This formation is the basis of our tactics. It requires the faith of each soldier in their shield, and in the shields of their companions. So long as they stand, so too shall our realm." - Garen

A phalanx of Demacian soldiers in a shield wall formation. When they're summoned or attack, they grant all allies a Barrier.

  • Badass Army: A formation of Demacian soldiers that's nigh-impossible to break in a head-on fight.
  • Barrier Warrior: An entire formation of these that grant Barriers to your entire board when they enter the fight.
  • The Dividual: While the Formation is obviously composed of numerous individual soldiers, gameplay-wise they're treated as a single unit.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: The soldiers in the formation use their shields to defend their fellows in battle, reflected in their ability.

Cithria the Bold

6-Mana | 6/6 | Elite

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cithriathebold.jpg
"Been a long path to get here."

"Legends, tales—they were never just fiction to me. They were adventure calling my name. I left Cloudfield to discover my own adventure, only to find I would have many. And they're just beginning."

Cithria after having achieved a high rank and status in the Demcian army. When Cithria attacks, other allies are granted +1 in health and power, and also gain the fearsome keyword.

See League of Legends: Others for her lore-related tropes

  • Future Badass: Vanguard Squire is closest to Cithria's current status in lore, while this card represents her as a much more accomplished and fearsome warrior later down the line.

Dawnspeakers

3-Mana | 1/4

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dawnspeakers.jpg
"Be strong! These are dark times."

"Evil has taken the hour, but it will not win the day. Remember our fallen, and wear their memories like armor!"

A pair of spokespeople working for the Illuminators. If an ally has died in a round, the Dawnspeakers grant all of their allies +1 health and power.

  • Preacher Man: They're members of a religious order who deliver sermons to Demacian citizens.

Laurent Chevalier (Antoine Laurent)

4-Mana | 3/2 | Epic | Challenger

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/laurentchevalier.jpg
"Gentlemen, ladies, the honor is yours."

"...Good grief."
-Fiora

Fiora's obnoxious cousin, and a duelist of the Laurent family. When Antoine strikes, a random card with the challenger keyword will appear in hand.

  • Agent Peacock: While most of House Laurent are a little prissy but badass, the Chevalier really runs with it. Even the other members of House Laurent think he's a bit much.
  • Always Someone Better: Fiora's card art shows that she placed ahead of him in a fencing competition, something that he's visibly miffed by.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: His relatives can't stand his obnoxious personality, and the interactions with him are full of nothing but annoyance or loathing.
Laurent Chevalier: "For the glory - and beauty - of House Laurent!"
    Fiora: "Good grief."
  • Smug Snake: This guy oozes both earned and unearned confidence, being a decent swordfighter in his own right, but a complete annoyance to the Laurent family.
  • Sore Loser: He appears in Fiora's level two artwork, and is annoyed over placing third behind her in a fencing competition.

Tianna Crownguard

8-Mana | 8/8 | Tough

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tiannacrownguard.jpg
"A Crownguard never falters."

"Our House has bled for this realm. You'll not throw away this family's honor for a few tricks of light."

Garen and Lux's aunt, and the high marshal of Demacia. When summoned, Tiana causes all allies to rally.

Stony Surpressor

2-Mana | 1/3

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stonysuppressor.png

What begins as a shapeless, rough-hewn block of petricite quickly becomes something more under the clever hands of its sculptor. That is when a piece truly starts to come to life.

A statue of a badger carved from the magic-absorbing Petricite. When in play, all spells, from either player, cost an additional point of mana.

  • Anti-Magic:Its passive gives trouble to control decks that rely on spells to maintain momentum. However, since it also affects your as well, it is imperative that you have low cost card so it doesn't affect you as much. In addition, despite its effect, it has little effect on cards that use up the entire mana like Thermogenic Beam.
  • Continuity Nod: Its design, particularly the gold-on-marble look, evokes Galio, League's premiere Anti-Magic gargoyle.

Towering Stonehorn

6-Mana | 7/7

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toweringstonehorn.png

A creature imbued with the Anti-Magic properties of petricite. It's completely immune to all damage inflicted by spells and skills.

  • Anti-Magic: Its passive makes them immune to damage from spells or skills. As a result, this card cannot be widdled out unless it is silenced. With that said, however, while it is immune to damage, it is still destroyed from effects like Vengeance or Devourer of the Depth's Devour skill.
