    Innuit Girl Coco

I'll be back. I promise...
JP artwork
Coco is an innuit girl from Mt. Shivering. She has inherited the bloodline of the ice witch, a cursed power that lets her utilize red ice.
Rarity: 2-star
Species: Innuit
Age: 22
Height and weight: 158cm/46kg
Element: Water
Role: Ranged
Exclusive Weapon: Witch Heart
Voiced by: Yōko Hikasa (Japanese), Valeria Rodriquez (English)
Illustrator: Hanul Lee (GL/KR), tokki (JP)

  • All of the Other Reindeer: She ends up a pariah on Mount Shivermore when she reveals her powers.
  • An Ice Person: She inherited powerful ice magic from her Ice Witch ancestor.
  • The Atoner: In the Unrecorded World story (assuming the Knight spares her life and rescues the Snowman Prince and Mako), Coco leaves Heavenhold after the final battle: both out of shame for helping the Invaders and in hopes of finding some way to make up for the damage she helped cause.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Coco is a genuinely good-hearted person stuck with a power associated with the notorious Lupina, a reputation she is never able to shake off.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Seemingly ends up in this situation as seen in the ending cutscene of World 15, at the hands of the Invaders' 1st Corps Commander. Interestingly enough, either her brainwashing wasn't perfect or her natural untrusting self was enough to not attack the Knight and KAI the first moment, feeling something was wrong about the whole thing. Doesn't stop her to ask for proof multiple times though, including a fight against her..
  • The Chosen One: She's one of the thirteen Champions.
  • Cassandra Truth: In World 16, she's the only one of the Beguiled Champions who raised objections to the developing situation inside Heavenhold, thinking that something was suspicious about it. Although she still followed Camilla's orders, her suspicions lead her to investigate the Knight directly and she becomes the only Champion who acknowledges she might actually have been manipulated by the time of the confrontation with the Knight. She was, of course, completely right.
  • Cursed with Awesome: As descendants of Lupina, the power to create and control red ice runs in Coco's family. Coco herself is particularly gifted with this magic. While it is a powerful ability that can be relatively easily controlled, the people Mt. Shivering shun and fear anyone who uses red ice as they associate it with the cruelties of the infamous Ice Witch.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Provided certain conditions are fulfilled in World 11, Coco survives the lab encounter, but stays behind for a bit. The Dark Magician DID just give her the green light to experiment on Invaders, after all...
  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: Her future self joined up with the Invaders in the Unrecorded World. While she was under duress as the Invaders were holding Prince and Mako hostage, Coco still willingly assisted the Invader's cruel experimentation on the remaining populace, leading to many deaths.
  • Find the Cure!: She is introduced searching for a means to thaw the red ice.
  • Forbidden Love: She and the Snowman Prince hide their relationship to ensure that his political opponents can't exploit the bigotry between their races to remove him from power. They stop hiding it entirely when the give up on trying to fix the social problems of the mountain's people.
  • Harmless Freezing: Victims of the red ice can seemingly be thawed with no ill effects. In the Unrecorded World, she's basically cryogenically freezing people and handing them over to the Invaders.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: At the beginning of the Nightmare story, she allows Lupina to freeze her in exchange for releasing everyone else from the red ice.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Coco has naturally low self-esteem and is prone to doubting herself and others, and she also has trouble speaking up. By the time of World 16, Coco has lost the ability to trust her own judgement and resolves to either die fighting "the Invader" or be taken down by "the Knight", as she cannot trust her perception of reality nor the evidence proving the Knight's innocence.
  • I Have Your Prince: The Invaders are forcing her to help them with their experiments in the Unrecorded World, using the captured Snowman Prince as leverage.
  • Interspecies Romance: With the Snowman Prince.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: She eventually comes to see the Knight this way. Her low self-confidence leads makes her doubt herself too much to follow her own judgment, but she trusts the Knight enough to follow their lead.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Ok, so you did your Heroic Sacrifice above. Too bad removing all the red ice also removes the spear from Gast's back, causing him to come back to life.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Every attempt she makes to save the populace from the red ice curse only results in her reputation on Mount Shivermore growing worse and worse. Eventually, the majority of both races there force her out entirely despite her fixing the problem.
  • Opt Out: After the Nightmare story, Coco has had it with the people of Mt. Shivering and leaves for good with the rest of the notable story characters.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her eyes turn red when she's using her Ice Witch powers.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Coco goes off on a group of Snowmen who were about to try to kill the Prince even though he's just completed the method of thawing red ice at the end of the Nightmare plot.
Coco: You guys... are truly... BRUTAL! What have I done to you!? What did the Prince do to everyone? You guys are egotistical, horrible, and gruesome. I wouldn't lay a single finger on you people... Since you are already living in this hell!
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: When the people of Mount Shivering still remained as prejudiced ungrateful as ever, even after she risked her life to successfully thaw the red ice, Coco rightfully snapped. She angrily berated all of them on their inexcusable behavior and stormed off the mountain with the few people who cared for her, washing her hands of the place entirely.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Coco is usually reserved due to having to deal with the prejudice of her homeland, but is naturally a very caring person willing to stick her neck out to help those in need. Those who manage to earn her trust will find that she's a friend for life.
  • Took a Level in Badass: She gained an Ascension form in 2023 representing her overcoming her fear of her powers and mastering the red ice.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: In World 16, the Knight and KAI reassure her when her own self doubt and the helmet clouding her perceptions get to her.
  • Zero-Approval Gambit: Hopes that the Snowman and Innuit's mutual hatred of her will ease the tensions between them. It doesn't work, mostly because Mount Shivering is a World of Jerkass, so she just gave up on them and left with the few other characters there she cared for.

    Mako
An Innuit girl found next to Gast's body and charged with his murder.
  • Break the Cutie: Mako is an Innuit child that is accused of being an Ice Witch and Gast's murderer. You'd think she'd be in the clear after the party clears her name, but then the Innuits start bullying her and the Snowmen destroy her home. In the Unrecorded World, she's being held prisoner with the Prince to force Coco to work for the Invaders, and depending on your actions they may not survive.
  • Frame-Up: Mako is found unconscious next to the impaled Gast, but she was lured there by a letter and knocked unconscious.
  • Opt Out: Considering everything Mako goes through, it should come with little surprise that she leaves with Coco at the end of the nightmare story.

Snowmen

    The Snowman Prince
The Prince of the Snowmen of Shivermore who has been attempting to find a cure for the red ice curse.
  • Authority in Name Only: Despite being royalty, the other Snowmen are so obsessed with their hatred of Innuits that he is barely able to keep them under control. By the time of the story, it's clear that most of the Snowmen support Gast's extremism far more than their prince.
  • Find the Cure!: Is working with Coco to find a solution to the red ice. He eventually manages to finish it, but the Snowmen still don't accept him simply because he worked with Coco to make it happen.
  • Forbidden Love: His relationship with Coco is kept secret to prevent the bigotry his people have for Innuits from damaging his already delicate position of authority.
  • Interspecies Romance: He's in a relationship with Coco.
  • Just in Time: In the Unrecorded World, he's locked up in Heavenhold castle with Mako. If you manage to locate them before doing a certain side-stage in world 11, Favi will mention that they were just about to die. Indeed, fail to find them or find them after doing the side-stage and they'll have passed.
  • Non-Action Guy: He's an administrator, not a fighter, so he's all but helpless when danger comes. That doesn't stop him from putting it all on the line to help Coco however he can.
  • No Name Given: He's only ever referred to as "the Prince."
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: He's the only Snowman of authority not taken by the Fantastic Racism most of his kind share towards the Innuits. Naturally, this makes him less and less popular as he advises calm in the face of Gast's attempts to feed into that same bigotry for support.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: He leaves Mount Shivering with Coco after seeing just how ungrateful, prejudiced, and petty the people he was supposedly leading really were.

    Snowman General Gast
The General of the Snowmen. The main plot of the world is kicked off when he is found dead with a spear of red ice in his back.
  • Chest of Medals: Eight in total.
  • Engineered Public Confession: At the climax of the normal plot, Coco does this to Gast by pretending to be one of his ice witch creations.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Zigzagged: Gast is found impaled near the beginning of the world's plot, reveals that he is actually fine, gets impaled for real by Coco after the boss fight, and then recovers from THAT when Lupina removes all of the red ice in the Nightmare plot
  • Kangaroo Court: When he briefly gains control of the court, he runs it this way to persecute the Innuits.
  • Killed Off for Real: You finish him off for good in the nightmare plot.
  • Large and in Charge: He's the General of the Snowmen, and he towers over everyone else.
  • Not Quite Dead: At the end of the trial, it is revealed that Gast set the entire thing up to oust the Prince.
    • He somehow survived his boss battle and Coco impaling him with his own trident, likely due to the equipment the Invaders implanted in him. When the trident was removed in the World 8 Nightmare story, he sprung back up as if nothing happened. Thankfully, he seems to stay dead at the end of that story.
  • Obviously Evil: The fact that he towers over everyone else should clue you in right away that this guy is bad news. He's the end boss for both the normal and nightmare plot.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: He goes out of his way to whip up the bigotry of the Snowmen towards the Innuits to justify his rise to power.
  • The Quisling: He allied with the Invaders for access to some of their technology, which he used to create his fake "Ice Witch" and to power himself up in his boss battle.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: He enjoys great support from the snowmen because he indulges their bigoted views on the Innuits. If anything, he's more popular than their Prince. Even after being revealed as the culprit of the red ice attacks and threatening to freeze everyone around him, he still gets more support from the citizens of Mount Shivering than the one who saved them from him.

Others

     Dimension Traveler Catherine
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/catherinegl.png
Knight? Princess? I'm too normal for this...
JP artwork
A girl from Canada that ended up trapped in the world of Tethis after being hit by a truck. She spent several months wandering the wilderness of Mount Shivering, trying to survive using the skills she learned from years of watching survival TV shows while falling prey to many scammers who recognized her as an easy mark. She happily joined the heroes of Heavenhold after the Knight saved her from getting scammed out of her last possessions, but still expresses her culture shock for being a normal girl thrust into a fantasy world.
Species: Human
Age: 20
Height and weight: 166cm/52kg
Element: Water
Role: Ranged
Exclusive Weapon: Marauder
Voiced by: Ayaka Suwa (Japanese), Laura Post (English)
Illustrator: Wonchun Choi (GL/KR)

  • Badass Normal: Catherine is a young Canadian woman with no special abilities or formal combat training. Despite that, she somehow manages to use her survival skills and hard-won experience to become a skilled enough fighter to stand with the heroes of Heavenhold.
  • Crazy Survivalist: When first met, Catherine is hostile to the Knight while squatting in a shack in the woods, feeding off the land, paranoid of being taken advantage of again. She mellows out after being recruited to the relative safety of Heavenhold, but doesn't ever fully let her guard down.
  • The Cynic: Being forced to survive a hostile fantasy world and taken advantage of by multiple scammers has left her distrustful and quick to snap at others.
  • Fish out of Water: She complains that she's too normal to be forced to adapt to a world of fantasy tropes, alien invasions, magic, and general chaos.
  • I Owe You My Life: She joins the Knight after they save her from the Mad Panda Gang scamming her into total poverty. Partially to repay them and partly because she knows she can't survive this world on her own for much longer.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: College student, but still counts.
  • Taught by Television: Her survival skills came from her love of survival TV programs back in the normal world.
  • Trapped in Another World: A direct parody of the typical isekai series protagonist. Down to her method of entry to the fantasy world.
  • Walking Armory: Even though she's locked into using Bows, Catherine is carrying around an impressive amount of weapons in her backpack in her later evolutions.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: When she woke up in a fantasy world, Catherine was expecting to gain a New Life in Another World Bonus. It did not happen.
