Old Residential District

    Virus

Voiced by: Junji Majima note  (Japanese), Doug Hammond (English)
Played by: Kouya Tominaga

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_virus_4.png
Birthday: February 23
Height: 182 cm
Blood Type: AB
Click here  to see Virus when he was younger

Virus and Trip are long-time acquaintances of Aoba, having met during Aoba's adolescence. The pair look nearly identical, causing people to assume that they are twins. Virus is more polite than Trip and appears to be the more chatty of the two.
  • Affably Evil: After he reveals himself to be one of the leaders of Morphine.
  • Always Identical Twins: Subverted. Their similar appearances are pointed out by Aoba and Koujaku, but both Virus and Trip explicitly state that they are not twins. They even have different birthdays in their intros.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Word of God revealed that both he and Trip are half-British.
  • The Dragon: He and Trip are this to Toue, though in Ren's route they clarify that they're not loyal to him and are only sticking around for convenience's sake.
  • For the Evulz: Their primary motivation seems to be their interest in Aoba.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: His genial and polite behavior hides his true personality, which is devoid of sympathy or any sense of morality.
  • It Amused Me: His motivation for everything he does.
  • No-Sell: Both he and Trip are immune to the effects of Scrap, due to their eyes and ears being surgically replaced with ones that can detect whether Aoba and Sei will use their voice/eyes, and thus avoid being influenced by their mind-controlling abilities.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: He's this with Trip, in a way. They've known each other since they were children, though as they have stated, they don't see themselves as friends, family, or even lovers; they're just together because they don't hate each other. Though Virus acknowledges that in some ways, they complement one another. Even though they do not regard themselves as close, they nevertheless don't mind sharing Aoba with each other.
  • Punishment Box: He left Aoba in very small one for three days, because Aoba didn't want to "make a show" for him. Aoba is so traumatized by it that he obeys every command from then on, out of fear that Virus will put him in there again.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: He wears a dark-blue suit and tie.
  • Shonen Hair: Although not identical to Trip's hairstyle.
  • Snakes Are Sexy: His AllMate is a black snake. He's often using it to abuse Aoba.
  • The Sociopath: Virus (and Trip) fit this trope to a T. They're completely amoral, superficially charming, only seeking "fun and interesting things", and doing most anything they wish purely on impulse, all while being completely incapable of experiencing any sort of depth of emotion. It's all but stated within the game that they fall directly under this spectrum.
  • Sociopathic Hero: In Ren's good ending, he and Trip save Ren from the collapsing Oval Tower and drive him to the Midorijima hospital. Partially because they thought he was Sei, partially because "they were curious" and partially because "they just felt like it". Aoba is understandably confused.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: Very friendly and polite, which makes him all the more terrifying.
  • Stepford Smiler: Type B and C. Both Virus and Trip act and look friendly at first, but in re:connect, Aoba describes them as empty shells who manipulate people for fun.
  • Stoic Spectacles: While Virus isn't stoic, per se, he is always calm and composed.

    Trip

Voiced by: Tomoyuki Higuchi note  (Japanese), Blake Shepard (English)
Played by: Yu Yoshioka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_trip_0.png
Birthday: May 3
Height: 185 cm
Blood Type: B
Click here  to see Trip when he was younger

Virus and Trip are long-time acquaintances of Aoba, having met during Aoba's adolescence. They are very similar in appearance, despite not actually being twins. Trip is much more casual in his speech than Virus. He calls himself and Virus 'fans' of Aoba.
  • Affably Evil: After he reveals himself to be the other leader of Morphine.
  • Always Identical Twins: Subverted. Their similar appearances are pointed out by Aoba and Koujaku, but both Virus and Trip explicitly state that they are not twins. They even have different birthdays in their intros.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Word of God revealed that both he and Virus are half-British.
  • The Dragon: He and Virus are this to Toue, though in Ren's route they clarify that they're not loyal to him and are only sticking around for convenience's sake.
  • For the Evulz: Their primary motivation seems to be their interest in Aoba.
  • It Amused Me: His motivation for everything he and Virus do to Aoba.
  • No-Sell: Both he and Virus are immune to the effects of Scrap, due to their eyes and ears being surgically replaced with ones that can detect whether Aoba and Sei will use their voice/eyes, and thus avoid being influenced by their mind-controlling abilities.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Trip is this with Virus, in a way.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: In re:connect, Aoba notes that his childlike curiosity and innocence is utterly terrifying, as it drives Trip to do things such as suffocate Aoba with sweets and call his lion AllMate over to bully and abuse him.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: He wears a Waistcoat of Style, a tie and suspenders.
  • Shonen Hair: His hair is even spikier than Virus'.
  • The Sociopath: Trip (and Virus) fit this trope to a T. They're completely amoral, superficially charming, only seeking "fun and interesting things", and doing most anything they wish purely on impulse, all while being completely incapable of experiencing any sort of depth of emotion. It's all but stated within the game that they fall directly under this spectrum.
  • Sociopathic Hero: In Ren's good ending, he and Virus save Ren from the collapsing Oval Tower and drive him to the Midorijima hospital. Partially because they thought he was Sei, partially because "they were curious" and partially because "they just felt like it". Aoba is understandably confused.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: Although more downplayed than with Virus, he never raises his voice, and talks in the same casual tone even when he is torturing Aoba.
  • Stepford Smiler: Type B and C. Both Virus and Trip act and look friendly at first, but in re:connect, Aoba describes them as empty shells who manipulate people for fun.

    Tae Seragaki

Voiced by: Fuzuki Kun note  (Japanese), Marcy Bannor (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_tae_1.png
Birthday: December 3
Height: 156 cm
Blood Type: A

Aoba's grandmother, a tough, no-nonsense woman.
  • Apron Matron: She doesn't take crap from anybody, but she's still a caring grandmother towards Aoba.
  • The Atoner: Tae was a researcher whose findings were used to give Aoba and Sei their mind-control powers. However, she didn't know that her research would be used by Toue for his Designer Babies. She felt guilty about her research being used for this purpose and took an apparently still-born Aoba away so that he could have a proper burial.
  • Cool Old Lady: Tae can make Aoba's group of misfits behave with only a stern lecture and cuffs to the head. She also invites them to eat her delicious cooking.
  • I Will Wait for You: In Aoba's scenario of re:connect, she, along with Aoba, are still waiting for Naine and Haruka to return home.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Alongside Yoshie and Haga, she's one of the few adults encountered on Midorijima who isn't corrupt, evil, under mind control, or some combination therein.
  • Supreme Chef: According to Aoba and his friends, just about everything she makes is absolutely delicious.

    Akushima

Voiced by: Yasunori Masutani note  (Japanese), Mark Laskowski (English)
Played by: Hayato Moriya

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_akushima_7.png
Birthday: November 30
Height: 176 cm
Blood Type: B

  • BFG: In Noiz's and Mink's route, his megaphone is able to turn into a big gun that can shoot balls of electricity.
  • Butt-Monkey: Rarely a scene with him goes by where he is not physically hurt or humiliated in some way.
  • Chewing the Scenery/Large Ham/No Indoor Voice: 99.9% of his lines are shouted at the top of his lungs. He is also fond of elongating his WOOOOOORDS FOR NOOOOOOO REASON!
  • Corrupt Cop: Although it should be noted that most of the police force on Midorijima are also corrupt and super-violent.
  • The Dreaded: The instant he starts speaking through his megaphone, anyone within earshot immediately makes a break for it.
  • Inspector Javert: Played with, since he's not actually following the law; but when there's a supposed criminal on the loose, he'll go after them no matter what. Mink even lampshades his persistence.
  • Meaningful Name: His name translates to "evil island".
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: He gets these in Noiz and Mink's routes.
  • Trrrilling Rrrs: He tends to do these a lot when he speaks.
  • Villainous Cheekbones: His somewhat gaunt appearance help emphasize his cheekbones, if only to make clear that he's not a friendly face among the cast.

    Haga

Voiced by: Eiichirou Tokumoto note  (Japanese), Rutherford Cravens (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_haga_6.png
Birthday: February 25
Height: 177 cm
Blood Type: O

Aoba's boss at Heibon. He's a fairly mild-mannered and easy-going person... most of the time.
  • Benevolent Boss: He is genuinely kind to Aoba and appreciative of the latter's help.
  • Berserk Button: He doesn't like being called baldy. At all. Nao, Kio and Mio learn this the hard way.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Along with Tae and Yoshie, Haga is one of the few trustworthy older adults in Aoba's life. The three stay behind to distract the police when Akushima shows up at Aoba's house, allowing Aoba and co. to escape.
  • Tranquil Fury: After being called 'baldy' by one of the kids, while Haga doesn't go into an explosive fit then and there, it's obvious that he's holding himself back and is one more "baldy" away from actually blowing his top.

    Nao, Kio and Mio Kuniyashi

Nao voiced by: Megumi Matsumoto note  (Japanese), Cayla Coats (English)
Kio voiced by: Saki Umesato note  (Japanese), Kalin Coates (English)
Mio voiced by: Emi Motoi note  (Japanese), Jane Cash (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_brats_6.png
Nao (left), Kio (center), Mio (right)
Birthday: January 6 (Nao), October 11 (Kio), April 14 (Mio)
Height: 150 cm (Nao), 140 cm (Kio), 130 cm (Mio)
Blood Type: O (Nao), A (Kio), B (Mio)

Three mischievous kids that constantly bother Aoba at Heibon.
  • All There in the Manual: Ren's drama CD reveals that their last name is Kuniyashi.
  • Animal-Eared Headband: They each wear something that resembles animal ears; Nao wears a hamster hoodie, Kio wears a bear-eared hat, and Mio wears fake bear ears.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: They love popping into Heibon and wreaking havoc, much to the chagrin of both Aoba and Haga.
  • Flat Character: They don't do much in the story except provide occasional Plucky Comic Relief and annoy Aoba.
  • No Indoor Voice: Nao and Kio tend to be quite loud when they speak.
  • Pointless Bandaid: They all have one; Kio on his cheek, Nao on the bridge of his nose and Mio on her forehead.
  • Precocious Crush: Mio is implied to have one towards Noiz, as she gives him a love letter in his good ending.
  • Tsundere: Hilariously, Mio is a Type A towards Noiz.
  • Women Are Wiser: Mio seems to be tiring of her brother's antics near the end of Noiz's route.
  • Youthful Freckles: Kio and Mio both have freckles, fitting with how they're two of the youngest characters in the cast.

    Yoshie

Voiced by: Saki Umesato note  (Japanese), Allison Sumrall (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_yoshie_2.png

The owner of Delivery Works, a courier shop in the Old Resident District.
  • The Bus Came Back: After the common route, she doesn't appear again for the rest of the story in anyone's routes. It's only until re:connect that she shows up again in the continuation of Ren's good ending.
  • Large Ham: Yoshie is very dramatic with the way she talks alone. It's part of why Aoba finds her a bit overwhelming.

AllMates

    Beni

Voiced by: Keisuke Goto note  (Japanese), Kyle Jones (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_beni_3.png

Koujaku's AllMate.
  • The Napoleon: Beni may be very small, but he makes up for it by having a fiery temper.
  • Odd Friendship: Beni his Hot-Blooded while Ren is The Stoic, but the two nevertheless get along well and enjoy the other's company.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: The Summer Side Story reveals that Beni gets easily spooked by loud noises, since he spends the New Years hiding in a room due to the loud fireworks.

    Pseudo Rabbit

Voiced by: Hiroko Miyamoto note  (Japanese), Tiffany Grant (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_usagi_0.png
Click here  to see Pseudo Rabbit's referee form in Rhyme
Click here  to see Pseudo Rabbit's fighter form in Rhyme

Noiz's AllMate.
  • Ambiguous Gender: All AllMates are Artificial Intelligences so they do not necessarily have a gender; although all the other AllMates except for Pseudo Rabbit are nevertheless referred to with either male or female pronouns by default, whereas Pseudo Rabbit is only referred to using "it".
  • Bunnies for Cuteness: As its name implies, Pseudo Rabbit is a bunny-themed AllMate; and both their cube form and their avatar forms are adorably precious, especially with their cheerful personality.
  • Keet: Pseudo Rabbit is in an excitable mood almost all the time and speaks in a cheery manner.
  • Killer Rabbit: Downplayed; in their Rhyme form, Pseudo Rabbit can deal plenty of damage, which they even deliver with literal boxing gloves.
  • White Bunny: All the bunnies which Pseudo Rabbit takes the form of in Rhyme are white in color.

    Tori

Voiced by: Hitoshi Bifu note  (Japanese), Stephen E. Moellering (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_tori_3.png

Mink's AllMate.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": Tori translates to "bird"; although this trope is subverted in that Mink didn't choose the name; he actually didn't bother naming his AllMate at all, and Aoba uses "Tori" to refer to the AllMate for lack of a better name.
  • Hey, You!: When Aoba tries to find out Tori's name, Tori states that Mink only refers to him by "Hey" or "You". Even after giving his AllMate a name in his route, Mink continues to refer to his AllMate like he usually would.
  • No Name Given: Mink never bothered to give his AllMate a name, although in re:connect, Mink finally gives Tori a proper name: Rulacane.
  • The Stoic: Tori carries himself with composure and always speaks calmly, even in moments of distress.

    Clara

Voiced by: Aya Kuyama note  (Japanese)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_clara.png

Yoshie's AllMate.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Clara is fond of Ren and would often attempt to speak with him whenever she has the chance. On the other hand, Ren clearly does not return the sentiment and, though he doesn't exactly dislike her, still finds her rather tiring to be with. He even goes so far as to turn tail and get the hell out of dodge when Clara is about to figure out that he's now a human in re:connect.
  • Ojou: Clara behaves like one, what with having a rather haughty and forceful disposition. This trope is also apparent in the way she speaks and how she carries herself.

    Bonjin

Voiced by: Inchiki Echigoya note  (Japanese), Chris Ayres (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_bonjin_0.png

Haga's AllMate.
  • Butt-Monkey: Bonjin is given a lot of grief from the sibling trio, who tend to chase and harass him whenever they see him.
  • PokĂ©mon Speak: Sort of. Bonjin says only one word: "Cleaning!". Though the way he speaks the word depends on whether he's calm or rattled.
  • Shipper on Deck: In the final CG of Noiz's good ending, Bonjin can be seen cheering in the background when Noiz picks up Aoba in a Bridal Carry.

    Hersia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_hersia.jpeg

Virus' AllMate.

  • Bestiality Is Depraved: Virus has Hersia join along in "satisfying" Aoba, which paints quite the chilling and creepy scene.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: It's a pretty large snake, and when it shows up, it's only to emphasize just how utterly fucked the situation Aoba is in after becoming Virus and Trip's captive.
  • The Voiceless: Like Verter, Hersia never talks and only makes the occasional hissing, like an actual snake.

    Verter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_verter.jpeg

Trip's AllMate.

  • The Dreaded: Aoba is deathly afraid of Verter, and the moment Trip calls for the AllMate to "have fun" with Aoba, the latter is immediately reduced to a shivering and shrieking mess.
  • The Voiceless: Unlike the other AllMates, Verter speaks only in growls and roars, much like how a real lion would.

Platinum Jail

    Toue

Voiced by: Tadahisa Saizen note  (Japanese), John Gremillion (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_toue_2.png

The main villain of the game. Calm, collected, and charismatic, Toue is the head of his own self-titled corporation and the owner of Platinum Jail.
  • 0% Approval Rating: Zigzagged; while he's adored and loved by the inhabitants of Platinum Jail, everyone in the Old Resident District hates his guts.
  • Big Bad: Was anyone really surprised?
  • Compelling Voice: Like Aoba, he can also manipulate others with his voice, though he acquired this power through artificial means (unlike Aoba and Sei, who were born with their abilities.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: He's the founder and owner of Toue Corporation... which just so happens to also dabble in experiments that toy with (and often end up destroying, or subjugating) the human mind.
  • Driven to Suicide: Only in the anime. He shoots himself after Aoba defeats him at Rhyme during their confrontation in Oval Tower.
  • For Science!: Toue will gladly dabble in all kinds of experiments that involve tampering with the human mind and finding new ways to manipulate a person’s consciousness. Even if it means getting unwitting test subjects or even committing outright genocide.
  • Graceful Loser:
    • He's surprisingly this when Aoba defeats him in Rhyme in the true ending; he takes Aoba's victory as a sign that his plans ultimately weren't destined to work and exits stage left to let Aoba meet Sei.
    • In Mink's route, when his attempt to stop Mink from killing him with Scrap fails, he does nothing to resist when the latter goes in for the kill.
  • High-Class Glass: In case the Classy Cravat isn't enough of an indicator of the man's status, Toue also wears a monocle, which further emphasizes his wealthy image.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: When he knows he's truly lost, he immediately stands down.
  • Named by the Adaptation: A downplayed example; Toue is only introduced by his surname in the visual novel, but the Animated Adaptation gives him a full name by introducing him as Tatsuo Toue.
  • One Degree of Separation: In one way or another, Toue is directly or indirectly involved with the main cast.
    • He created Aoba, Ren and Sei, along with Clear and the other Alphas.
    • He instigated the massacre of Mink's family.
    • He collaborated with Ryuuhou, who then started to experiment on mind control using his tattoos, with Koujaku as his first test subject.
    • He discovered Aoba's whereabouts from Noiz's Drive-By battle with Aoba.
  • The Unfought: He's never encountered in either Koujaku or Noiz's routes. While he makes an appearance in Clear's route, he disappears halfway through the climax and the Alphas serve as the Final Boss of the route.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: No matter which route the player takes (except Mink's), no one really knows what exactly happened to him in the end, as the narration only states that his plans are ultimately thwarted.

    Ryuuhou

Voiced by: Akira Sasanuma note  (Japanese), Chris Patton (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_ryuuhou_4.png

He is a famous tattoo artist who chooses his customers, not the other way around. He only appears in Koujaku's route, and also plays a heavy role in Koujaku's past.
  • Affably Evil: No matter the situation, he is always calm and speaks in a polite manner.
  • Expy: Not in terms of appearance; but his tendencies as a Soft-Spoken Sadist with some hints of blood lust and a particular obsession with a swordsman haunted by his past are similar to another love interest from a different Nitro+CHiRAL game. The fact that both characters are voiced by the same guy doesn't help.
  • Go Out with a Smile: He dies smiling psychotically after being stabbed by Koujaku.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: By Koujaku, in the latter's fit of rage, although he lets it happen.
  • I Warned You: Ryuuhou says this to Koujaku a few times regarding his reminder to never let his anger get the better of him lest his tattoos consume his mind.
  • Karma Houdini: Given that he's only encountered in Koujaku's route, it can be surmised that Koujaku is never able to get revenge on him in any of the other routes.
  • Mad Artist: Ryuuhou is extremely passionate about his tattoos, and is all to happy to even use them as part of an experiment in mind control.
  • Mind-Control Device: The people pricked by his needles can be manipulated by him any time he wishes.
  • Perpetual Smiler: His lips are always fixed in a gentle, albeit devious Psychotic Smirk. If he ever stops smiling, it's rare. And then there are the instances when his fox-like smile turns into a Slasher Smile...
  • Skeletons in the Coat Closet: He wears skeletons around his neck and wrists. Strangely enough, however, Aoba seems to forget this when he describes his likeness to Koujaku.

    The Alphas

Alpha 1 voiced by: Hiroshi Okamoto note  (Japanese), Greg Ayres (English)
Alpha 2 voiced by: Kaito Ishikawa (Japanese), Greg Ayres (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_alphas_masked.png
Click here  to see the Alphas without their masks

The Alphas are androids created by Toue and act as his bodyguards.
  • Cain and Abel: They serve as the Cain to Clear's Abel, given their respective allegiances and personalities. Not to mention, the Alphas also act rather antagonistic towards Clear for being "defective".
  • Magic Music: The Alphas can subdue and hypnotize other people through a song called "Dye Music".
  • Malevolent Masked Men: They wear a white smiling mask over their faces in Noiz and Mink's routes. This is done to conceal their connection to Clear from the player.
  • The Quiet One: Alpha 1 does most of the talking, and the player will only hear Alpha 2 speak once in the entire visual novel.
  • The Unfought: Besides Clear's route, the Alphas are briefly mentioned in passing in Noiz's route and appear for a short while in Mink's, but they're never directly confronted in either route.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Unlike Clear, the Alphas are malicious, condescending, and eager to support Toue in his plans of controlling the minds of everyone in Midorijima.

    Sei — Warning: Walking Spoiler

Voiced by: Yūichi Iguchi note  (Japanese), Clint Bickham (English)
Played by: Shogo Yamazaki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_sei_67.png
Click here  to see his original form

  • Artificial Human: Both Sei and Aoba were genetically engineered by Toue.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Implied. Sei is more experienced at using Scrap than his younger brother and is also more powerful than him with said ability. However, having to use it for a long period of time to further his creator’s plans have implied to take a heavy toll on him to the point that he would rather have the sweet mercy of death.
  • Death Seeker: After having been experimented on for years by Toue, Sei reaches out to Aoba so that the latter can "release" him.
  • Determinator: He is this when it comes to his wish to be "destroyed" by Aoba — Sei is very persistent in trying to reach out to his brother and make him come to Oval Tower.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: When Aoba first meets Sei, he wondered whether Sei is a woman or not.
  • Friend to All Living Things: This is implied in the ending image, as the AllMates seem to love him.
  • Frozen Face: Sei has a blank face most of the time. The only exceptions are when he fully shows himself to Aoba in Ren's route, and in his scenes in Mizuki's route in re:code.
  • Hypnotic Eyes: Being Aoba's twin, Sei shares the same mind-controlling abilities as his brother, but he uses Scrap through his eyes instead of his voice.
  • Long-Lost Relative: Sei is Aoba's twin brother, who was Separated at Birth and raised by Toue.
  • Meaningful Name: "Sei" is a homophone of the word that mean "life" which reflects his power. It's also homophone with the kanji of "blue" as in "Ao" (蒼).
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Usui, who was created with a part of Sei's consciousness, has ten arms and is extremely powerful in Rhyme.
  • Phlebotinum Rebel: Toue probably didn't expect Sei to destroy the entire tower using the very power he was given by genetical engineering.
  • Pretty Boy: Being Aoba's twin brother, it's a given that he's as good-looking as him.
  • Shoot the Shaggy Dog: Unless the player takes Ren's route, Sei will never get a chance to talk to Aoba one more time before dying. That being said, he nevertheless still gives his life thwarting Toue's plans.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: He is in this pose when Aoba first encounters him, although it was later revealed that it was not Sei in the flesh, but merely a projection of his consciousness.
  • Virtual Ghost: In Ren's good ending, it's implied that Sei or a part of his consciousness still exists in the network even a year after his death.
  • Walking Spoiler: Besides a very brief appearance in the other routes, Sei only properly shows up in the secret route. Just about every trope associated with him is a spoiler, since his very existence is intrinsically tied to Aoba's backstory, as well as Ren's.

Others

Naine and Haruka Seragaki — Warning: Walking Spoiler

Naine voiced by: Eiji Takemoto note
Haruka voiced by: Emi Motoi note

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_naine_haruka_3.png

Aoba's adoptive parents. They adopted Aoba after Naine saw him on the beach.
  • Adapted Out: They don't show up, nor are they even mentioned, in the Animated Adaptation.
  • But Now I Must Go: Though they adopted Aoba and lived happily with him and Tae, they suddenly leave one day without leaving any clues as to where they're going or why they left.
  • Coordinated Clothes: Both of them wear similarly-styled jackets and belts.
  • I Will Wait for You: Even years later, Aoba and Tae are still waiting for them to return home.
  • Phlebotinum Rebel: Naine was one of Toue's test subjects who managed to escape, which may explain his wanderlust.
  • Spell My Name With An S: While Naine is commonly used, the character books spell his name as Nine.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Played with, since Haruka was only adopted by Tae, but they still share the same hair color.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Them leaving without any explanation resulted in Aoba's mental state destablising and Desire having to surface more often to help Aoba cope, resulting in Aoba's gritty teenage years.

    Theodore "Theo"

Voiced by: Soma Saito

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dmmd_theo_7.png

Noiz's younger brother. He only appears in the drama CD, which takes place after the events of Noiz's good route in re:connect, although he was briefly mentioned in the first game.
  • Nice Guy: Theo is kind and gentle, and wishes only the best for his brother. He even makes a good impression on Aoba.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Hairstyle aside, his face is almost exactly like Noiz's, which is why Aoba mistook Theo for his older brother when he passed by him (before actually properly meeting him in person).
  • White Sheep: He's the only member of Noiz's family who never had any ill feelings towards the man. When Noiz was locked up in his room, Theo attempted to make contact with him multiple times, but was always stopped by their parents. Theo was even driven to Tears of Joy when Noiz returned to reunite with his family.
