    Lisa

Voiced by (Japanese): Rika Fukami (Symphony of the Night)
Voiced by (English): Alison Lester (Symphony of the Night), Wendee Lee (The Dracula X Chronicles)

"If my death can save others, I gladly surrender my life..."

Dracula's second wife and the mother of Alucard. Introduced in Symphony of the Night, where it was revealed that her death provoked Dracula into a war with humanity.

  • Badass Bookworm: She studied medicine to cure victims of a plague that was ravaging the area at the time. Unfortunately, the people were suspicious of anything resembling witchcraft, and once they learned of a woman practicing medicine, they captured Lisa and executed her on false charges.
  • Burn the Witch!: Accused of witchcraft due to being, apparently, a very good doctor.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Lisa has pale blonde hair, which Alucard inherits. He also takes his good nature from her.
  • Identical Stranger: She is the spitting image of Mathias/Dracula's first wife Elisabetha, implying a Reincarnation Romance. Though since Lament of Innocence came later, when she was first introduced she was Dracula's one and only wife, as far as anyone knew.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Her death served as Dracula's motivation to wage war on humanity, finalizing his transformation into the main antagonist of the games.
  • The Lost Lenore: To her sore widower, Dracula.
  • Meaningful Name: Not only does she look like Elisabetha, her name is a diminutive of hers.
  • Motherly Side Plait: Her hairdo sports this style, and true to certain patterns associated with such hair, she ends up dying early. It's not called the "anime mom hair of doom" for nothing.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Executed as a witch for practicing medicine. Deconstructed due to Dracula's reaction.
  • Only One Name: She's only referred to by her first name, so it's unclear if Alucard's middle name is her maiden name.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: The kindhearted Lisa telling Alucard to Kill All Humans immediately causes him to realize that the woman he's talking to is not his mother.
  • Posthumous Character: She's been dead long before her introduction in Symphony of the Night.
  • Shout-Out: Her existence and impact is a loose nod to Bram Stoker's Dracula, where the suicide of Dracula's wife Elisabeta leads to his start of darkness. This wasn't in the original novel.
  • Too Good for This Sinful Earth: So incredibly kindhearted, she was able to bring out her husband's lost humanity and her dying wish was for him and their son to forgive humanity and thus her murderers. According to Koji Igarashi, she even possesses holy blood, which was passed down to Alucard.

    Master Librarian
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/master_librarian.jpg
Voiced by (Japanese): Masaharu Sato
Voiced by (English): Dennis Falt (Symphony of the Night), Kyle Hebert (The Dracula X Chronicles)

"Hehehe... thank you."

The keeper of Dracula's Castle's library. He helps Alucard in his quest to find out why the Castle has reappeared by selling him items and equipment.

  • Every Man Has His Price: The Librarian initially refuses Alucard's request for his help, but immediately and enthusiastically reconsiders when Alucard offers to pay him.
  • Gold Fever: He eagerly casts aside his devotion to Dracula the very moment Alucard offers to reward his efforts, and sounds very happy when said reward is provided.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: No matter what Dracula may be, the Librarian is his devoted servant and will not betray him lightly. He wants nothing to do at all with Richter or Maria, and seems to only be willing to deal with Alucard because he is Dracula's son and they have prior history.
  • No Hero Discount: Justified. The Librarian is actually in the employ of Dracula, and only helps Alucard at all because he's a greedy bastard. And if you use any of the extra characters, he'll refuse to deal with them at all; Alucard is permissible because he's the Master's son, estranged or not, but dealing with the Belmonts would be outright treason.
  • Only in It for the Money: He tells Alucard that he couldn't possibly betray Dracula, only to immediately change his mind when Alucard says he'll pay him. However, he only does this for Alucard, since he's still Dracula's son, estranged or not. He won't even speak to the other playable characters.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Just like with the Merchant in Harmony of Dissonance, he disappears from the series after the game featuring him is over.

    Succubus
Voiced by (Japanese): Rika Fukami (Symphony of the Night), Haruko Kitahama (Lament of Innocence)
Voiced by (English): Barbara Whitlow (Symphony of the Night), Melissa Fahn (Lament of Innocence), Karen Strassman (Portrait of Ruin, The Adventure ReBirth, US and European version), Jessica Straus (The Dracula X Chronicles) Wendee Lee (Order of Ecclesia, Harmony of Despair), Philece Sampler (The Adventure ReBirth, Japanese version)

"If I'd known this would happen, I would have... fought you in the guise of your loved one..."

A total of three of these devils appear as bosses throughout the series. The first one was a minion of Walter's taking on the guise of Sara in order to attack Leon. The second one was a minor foe that appeared under Dracula's employ. The third and most well-known debuted first. She took the form of Lisa in order to lull Alucard into joining Dracula's side. Several other succubi appeared throughout the series as minor enemies.

  • And I Must Scream: The fate of the Symphony Succubus upon Alucard killing her. "Death in the dream world will set your soul wandering for eternity, demon." Though she was asking for it, as Alucard said before the battle that she deserves a fate worse than death, her response, being more or less "Bring it on".
  • Burn the Witch!: The Symphony Succubus recreates the moment of Lisa's death in order to break Alucard.
  • Chest Monster: The Symphony Succubus uses a fake Save Point. In one room is a real save point and, just across the hall, is another room that looks like a different-colored save point, but will in fact trigger a "nightmare" cutscene and the battle with her.
  • Cute Monster Girl: In comparison to the two before her, the Succubus from Rebirth seems more like this than hot, having Girlish Pigtails and a cape rather than the lingerie the other two wear.
  • Demoted to Extra: Also a case of Degraded Boss. They started out as unique individual boss monsters in Symphony, Lament, and Rebirth, before becoming more commonly appearing lesser enemies in the GBA/DS era games, with a palette swap called Lilith appearing as a weaker version.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: After beating her in Symphony, at least in the original version. The Dracula X Chronicles port made her final cry sound a lot more like a death cry with a Big "NO!" than a... you know.
  • Doppelgänger Spin: The Succubus does this as part of her attack chain in Symphony, filling up the top of the screen with duplicates.
  • Dream Weaver: The circumstances of the fight in Symphony, in keeping with the original legend of the incubus. She tries to mess up Alucard's memories through dreams.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: In Symphony of the Night, the Succubus was the weakest version of her group, with Lilith being the strongest.
  • Green Thumb: Lament of Innocence's Succubus can grow poisonous flowers across the field that can poison Leon.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: The official art for the Symphony design shows that Succubus has exposed breasts with defined nipples. Most official uses of this artwork either cut off above the nipples or covers them with something. Her in-game sprite also has her chest and crotch exposed, with her clothing consisting of an open-bust corset, long gloves, and thigh-high boots.
  • Karmic Death: She tried to appear as Lisa, Alucard's dead mother, to tempt him into joining Dracula. Little did she know that the topic of Lisa was a Relative Button for Alucard, who was not pleased with the fact that a demonic monster tried to sully his memory of Lisa. She ended up having her soul wander for eternity, never knowing rest.
  • Moveset Clone: Only in Circle of the Moon. The Succubus as well as her stronger counterparts (Nightmare, Fallen Angel, Lilim, and Lilith), all fight in a similar manner to the Harpy and the Siren.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Par for the course for any succubus, she is a scantily-clad and irresistible woman with the power to charm her foes. As mentioned above, she had been designed with her chest completely nude.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: The Succubus from Rebirth is internally called "Vampire" in the game's files.
  • Rogues' Gallery Transplant: The blonde succubus from Lament appears prominently in the Pachinko games and has battled against Trevor, Richter, and even Gabriel Belmont (who's from a completely different continuity). This is despite only appearing in one game in the main series and being killed off soon after being introduced, long before Dracula even rose to power.
  • Shapeshifter Guilt Trip: One of their known tactics is to appear as a loved one to a hunter so they wouldn't be attacked so easily. Lament of Innocence's Succubus did this to Rinaldo and laments that she didn't attempt it with Leon. Symphony of the Night's turned into Lisa in order to try and break Alucard. Both Aria and Dawn of Sorrows Succubi appear as Mina and Yoko respectively, but attack you if you get too close or if your back is turned.
  • Spot the Imposter: One of the Lament Succubus' attacks is creating two clones of herself, and if you strike the wrong one, you'll be hit with paralysis. The real one can be recognized by the rose petals she leaves in her wake.
  • Stripperiffic: Natch. They wear only stilettos, a corset, and a babushka. The Rebirth Succubus is completely nude.
  • The Shadow Knows: In Spot the Imposter above, one other way to tell the real Succubus from the clones is the fact that the real succubus casts a shadow, unlike the clones.

    Galamoth
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/galamoth_pose.gif

An extremely large, demonic-looking being who resembles a dinosaur. Though originally introduced as the Big Bad in the Kid Dracula games, he made his first proper appearance in the Castlevania series in Symphony of the Night, followed by a cameo in Aria of Sorrow and a significant yet unseen villainous role in Castlevania: Judgment. Not much has been confirmed about him, but from what has been clearly established, he directly opposes Dracula and seeks to replace him as the lord of darkness. For some reason, he has spent far more time fighting Dracula's offspring.

  • Breath Weapon: He breathes fire in Kid Dracula. Given his appearance, this may also qualify as Dinosaurs Are Dragons.
  • Bus Crash: Implied. Galamoth is a background villain that wants to oppose Dracula. According to Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, one of Dracula's abilities, and possibly his most powerful, is the power of Dominance, which lets him take the souls of defeated enemies. What do you find hidden in a lantern, which according to Word of God contains the souls Dracula has stolen? That's right, Galamoth's soul, suggesting that some time before Dracula's death, he finally settled things with Galamoth and won.
  • Cool Sword: Wields a standard sword in Boku Dracula-Kun and a Laser Blade in Kid Dracula. He also holds a circular blade in his off hand in Symphony, but never actually uses it.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Each time, the forces of good favor Dracula as the dark lord.
  • The Ghost: Despite his involvement in Judgment's plot, he never appears in the game, save for a Say My Name from the Time Reaper.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: In Judgment, he was the one who sent the Time Reaper back in time.
  • Immune to Fate: Given that he's the only villain to date to attempt to change history in his favor, and his soul's purpose in Aria is to prevent a Time Master enemy from turning back time, he likely possesses this ability in some form.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: He was known as Garamoth in Kid Dracula.
  • Magic Knight: Wields both magic and swords.
  • Make Wrong What Once Went Right: His attempt to remove Dracula from power by changing history in Judgment.
  • Not in the Face!: His rather hilarious weakpoint in Symphony of the Night.
  • Readings Are Off the Scale: He has so much HP that his bestiary entry doesn't display it.
  • Rent-a-Zilla: Though several other bosses in the series outsize him.
  • Shock and Awe: In all of his appearances, right down to his special ability in Encore of the Night.
  • The Starscream: Depending on his true role in relation to Dracula.
  • Superboss: In Symphony, he is found in the Floating Catacombs, a completely optional area in the Inverted Castle, and is stronger than Dracula himself. He also plays this role in Encore, in which he is located in the Royal Chapel instead and drops the Alucard Sword.
  • Walk Like an Egyptian: In addition to his Symphony outfit's influences, he is animated in a manner that keeps him in constant profile.
