In a war between curses and humans, Jujutsu Kaisen has its fair share of awesome moments.
    open/close all folders

    Introduction Arc
  • Faced with a threat unknown to him and his friends in danger, Yuji decides to jump four stories, kick through a window, and punch the damn curse in the face — saving both his friends and Megumi in the process.
  • Gojo Satoru makes his first appearance testing Itadori's capability as a vessel for Sukuna, the King of Curses himself, by schooling Sukuna for 10 seconds and casually nullifying/dodging all of his attacks. Special mention goes to the start where he appeared sitting on Sukuna's back after he lunged at him.
Gojo: My student is watching, so I'm going to show off a little.
    • For how short the scene is overall, the animation surrounding it makes a highlight, especially when Gojo backhands Sukuna from behind.
  • With the curse escaping, what does Nobara decide to do? Take one of its limbs, grab her doll, and strike it right through the heart.

    Cursed Womb Arc
  • Sukuna demonstrates why he's the King of Curses by utterly and casually destroying both the Curse-class ranking system established at the start of the arc and a Special-grade curse that had the heroes running for their lives. And he was just toying with it, beating it down with just his physical strength before ending it with his Domain only to show how much of a small fry it was. And he's only two of his fingers at this point.
Sukuna: (To the curse he dismembered and embedded into a wall) Hey, did you know? We're both classified as special-grade, apparently. Both you and me, man.
  • Despite Sukuna thrashing him nonstop, the fact that Megumi only ends up with a few wounds is impressive.

    Cursed Training Arc
  • One for a background restaurant waiter in Chapter 12/Episode 7. Despite normally being a very hardworking and responsible man working to support his younger sisters, he took a look at the table where Geto and co were seating and bolted straight out of the restaurant. Literally, seconds later Jogo burns and kills everyone in the place. It's a rare occurrence where a background character in a horror story recognizes the threat preemptively and flees the scene immediately.
  • Practically everything about Gojo's fight with Jogo. He lures the curse in before utterly destroying Jogo left and right without even trying, despite the fact that Jogo is also a special-grade curse. Even though Jogo unleashes a Domain Expansion on him, Gojo simply one-ups him tenfold with "Unlimited Void", explaining to both how his domain works before ripping off Jogo's head. Yuji comments at the end that Gojo truly is on another level.
    • The artwork for "Unlimited Void" is simply gorgeous, brilliantly showing off its surrealist atmosphere with creative imagery and usage of color. As soon as Gojo rips off Jogo's head, the scene shifts from its detailed setting into a jagged, messy piece that is both terrifying and awe-inspiring.
  • Todo vs. Megumi, if you can even call it that. With sheer skill and power, Todo is able to best the latter again and again, only getting slowed down by the hoard of Toads Megumi had in store, though not by much. Todo only stops when Megumi gets serious, and even then he has to get held down by Inumaki before things escalate out of control.
    • It's easy to forget that Inumaki is a Semi-Grade 1 sorcerer as he doesn't participate much in the action early on. This scene proves why he deserves the title: with just two words, he's able to pin down Todo in no time, saving Megumi from another bashing. At this point in the story, Todo is established to be a Grade 1 sorcerer.
  • The girls against Mai. After Mai shoots up Nobara, Maki gives her one hell of a The Reason You Suck speech, bluntly saying that they're both at the bottom because of their life situation. Maki only needs to point her staff to give Nobara time to sneak up behind the Kyoto second-year and restrain her no problem, just after she got shot up.

    VS Mahito Arc
  • Nanami's introduction chapter has him calmly explaining to Yuji how his ability works while fighting off the altered human with ease. After his mini-lesson, he quickly focuses on the target and cuts off all of its legs with his blade. What's really tops off the awesomeness factor is that he was using the back of his wrapped-up blade to finish off the curse.
  • Yuji's first usage of Divergent Fist. Using his body's delay in cursed energy to his advantage, he first punches his opponent with his superhuman strength (established to be 120% of a jujutsu sorcerer's raw power), which then allows his body to release a burst of cursed energy that creates a second impact; thus instantly taking out the other altered human. And that's not even the full extent of what he could do.
  • The first fight between Yuji and Mahito.
    • Faced with Junpei dying in front of him and both Sukuna and Mahito laughing at his state, Yuji punches Mahito squarely in the jaw. What then follows is an incredibly fast paced duel between the both of them, with Mahito keeping Yuji on the ropes with his Cursed Techniques. After Mahito tries to draw out Sukuna, Yuji absolutely refuses and starts head-butting the curse into submission, making it clear that he will kill Mahito.
    • Speaking of Sukuna, he straight-up tells Mahito that he's an idiot for trying to summon the King of Curses, making it clear that he's on a completely different level than him just from a couple of sentences.
    • Jun'ya Enoki's performance throughout this battle — and the whole of Episode 12 for that matter — deserves heaps of praise. He truly brings out the utter sorrow and rage Yuji feels over Junpei's death all through a deathly calm veneer that is bone-chilling. Then there's the actual fight, where he screams out of utter bloodcurdling fury every time Yuji beats Mahito.
    • Nanami then shows up, and the fight descends into overwhelming No-Holds-Barred Beatdown in his and Yuji's favor...
    • Until Mahito activates his Domain Expansion: "Self-Embodiment of Perfection" for the first time of his life and traps Nanami into it. The animation of it is nothing short of stunning, with multiple hands taking hold of each other as it forms behind Mahito.
    • Fortunately, Mahito doesn't get a chance to make good use of it. Before he can kill Nanami with it, Yuji busts into the Domain and is automatically touched by Idle Transfiguration; meaning Mahito has once again incurred Sukuna's wrath.
Sukuna: I told you; there won't be a second time. (Slashes into Mahito's shoulder, causing him enough pain to deactivate his Expansion technique)

    Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc
  • Yuji and Todo's fight, which has the former fighting the latter to an impressive standstill without cursed energy. Todo even comments that Yuji is quite possibly one of the best fighters in all of Jujutsu, purely because of his impressive physical capabilities.
  • The whole fight between Panda and Mechamaru is a sight to behold. Mechamaru may have more firepower on him, but Panda quickly outwits him with his intellect and physical capabilities. Even when Mechamaru has him cornered, Panda finds some way to get out of it by allowing the attacks to hit him head-on. Once he gets a better handle on Mechamaru's abilities, Panda's plan of attack quickly switches to defense as he simply lets the sorcerer waste all of his firepower on him, switching from his panda core to his gorilla core when his panda form gets exhausted. During the final stretch of the battle, Mechamaru unleashes his most powerful technique in the hopes of destroying Panda's core. What he didn't anticipate was Panda bluffing his core by manipulating his cursed energy stores, making Mechamaru's attack useless. This finally allows Panda to get the upper hand on him, destroying most of the robot's face and formally retiring him from the competition.
  • While Miwa makes a valiant effort to try and beat Maki, she quickly realizes that Maki is much stronger than she looks. She quickly dodges Miwa's attacks and grabs her sword with ease, all within the span of a couple of minutes.
  • Momo tries to break Nobara with a speech about Mai's struggles and how women have it so much worse because of the unfair expectations put upon them, but Nobara is not having it, rightfully and scornfully pointing out that her problems do not absolve her of the abuses that she's caused. She then goes on to state that women (nor men) shouldn't have to live up to the ideal of perfection when they're strong enough, throwing Momo just off-guard to reveal her trump card; the nails that missed Momo planted all over the forest. While Momo tries to dodge her nails, she's too slow and ends up on the ground with her broom broken. As if that wasn't enough, Nobara takes a freaking squeaky hammer and starts pummeling the third-year without a care in the world, coming extremely close to beating her if it wasn't for Mai shooting her at the last second.
Nobara: I don't give a damn about "men" this or "women" that. You all can keep that crap to yourselves. I love myself when I'm pretty and all dressed up! And I love myself when I'm strong! I am... Nobara Kugisaki!
  • After seeming like he was just an old traditionalist, Gakuganji fights Juzo by revealing an Electric Guitar that he proceeds to fight the much younger Curse user with. It may be hard to stomach Gakuganji and his Well-Intentioned Extremist tendencies at times, but it's impossible to deny that he puts his money where his mouth is.
  • Maki and Mai's fight features both twins trying to beat each other with their strengths. While Mai is able to keep up with her revolver, Maki quickly proves that she has the upper hand, dodging her every shot with barely any effort. Mai takes out her trump card when Maki is close to beating her, creating a seventh bullet that nearly shoots out Maki's eye... except that she catches it with her bare hand. Faced with nothing more than her will, Mai tries to fight Maki straight-on, but she ends up losing quickly to Maki's overwhelming strength and skill.
  • The students (Noritoshi Kamo, Megumi, Maki, and Inumaki) hold the line against the much tougher Hanami. Despite being mere students, they take on a high-level Disaster Curse and hold their own.
    • Noritoshi Kamo lands a solid blow on one of Hanami's head branches, revealing their weakness.
    • Inumaki finally unveils his true power, using his Compelling Voice to thrash Hanami every time they go head to head. Notably, when he declares "Stop," Hanami's attack freezes entirely, and when pushed to his limit, Inumaki doesn't give up, instead exclaiming "Blast away," sending Hanami flying. Inumaki is essentially the core of the students' defense.
    • One has to give Hanami props for being so durable and skilled they manage to take on and overwhelm two groups of students, only finally going down when Todo shows up. Jogo may not have been too dangerous thanks to Gojo showing up, and Mahito was a sadistic Dirty Coward, but Hanami shows that the Disaster Curses can be noble warriors just like our heroes.
    • Megumi and Maki using expert teamwork to switch weapons and positions, finally getting the edge on Hanami until the Cursed Bud technique pushes them to their limit. The two may not be Yuji and Todo, but their teamwork is extremely respectable in its own right.
    • Just as it seems Hanami might scrape out a win, Megumi and Maki call the fight over, and Maki declares it's "time to tag out." Why? Yuji and Todo have arrived.
  • Yuji and Todo's fight against Hanami is pure, unadulterated awesome.
    • After just one training session with Todo, Yuji reveals his new ability: "Black Flash", an attack that requires cursed energy to be applied after one trillionth of second after impact. What's even better is that later on in the battle, Yuji manages to use it four times consecutively against the spirit. Nanami comments that while it isn't impressive to use it consecutively, he admits that it's still very difficult to do at will or even unintentionally, even going as far to say that his record (which was also four times in a row) was just him getting lucky.
    • At one point, Yuji and Todo charge Hanami by running up their plant-life, taking them high into the sky. Impressive enough, but then Hanami awesomely turns it on them by simply dissipating the plants, then attacking while they fall for good measure. Think this is still just Hanami's moment? Hell no, as Yuji and Todo respond by pressing their feet together and leaping off each other to dodge the blow.
    • Todo's Cursed Technique, Boogie Woogie. It swaps two objects within his range at a clap of his hands. It can swap anything: ally, opponent, or even a simple weapon. Todo shows its incredible effectiveness; he and Yuji consistently pummel Hanami with coordination, by putting their foe in front of their prepared attacks, and removing its terrain advantages. Hanami's efforts to adapt to the technique are foiled by fakeout claps, creating openings for Yuji to exploit. Finally, he scores a formidable blow on the Special Grade by switching Yuji with Maki’s staff "Playful Cloud", leaving the powerful spirit with no other options than attempting a Domain Expansion.
    • At one point, Todo has Hanami's parasitic buds coming at him. What does he do? His initial instinct is to use his cursed energy to harden his body and nullify any damage; his mind, however, feels that something is amiss, and transports him to an imagined meeting with Takada-chan where they both re-examine Hanami's attack. This leads him to a decisive insight: using cursed energy is precisely what causes the plants to latch on! He suddenly averts catastrophic injury by shutting off his cursed energy as the attack hits him, leaving him unharmed and his opponent stunned. To top it off, his entire reasoning took place within 0.01 seconds!
    • After the utter ass-kicking that the heroes dish out on Hanami, is the Disaster Curse done for? Not quite. Hanami drains a number of plants of their life force, and prepares for another round. If not for a Spanner in the Works, Hanami would've been ready to give Yuji and Todo another fight. Especially impressive since they're considered less powerful than Jogo, but they're tough and smart.
  • Despite the Veil that Juzo put up being specifically anti-Gojo, Gojo simply destroys it with his massive cursed energy. Deciding to start with Juzo, he instantly blasts the man's limbs to incapacitate him. He finally turns to Hanami preparing Hollow Purple: a combination of Cursed Technique Amplification: Blue and Cursed Technique Reversal: Red that launches a devastating blast towards the retreating spirit. Todo isn't able to see if the curse was actually exorcised or not as the ability left a canyon in the middle of the forest.

    Death Paintings Arc
  • After Megumi thinks back to the pep-talk Gojo gave him a little while back, he decides to let go of all of inhibitions and release his own Domain Expansion: "Chimera Shadow Garden". Black fluid starts to emerge, allowing Megumi to summon multiple shikigami, just overwhelming the special grade curse long enough for his Divine Dog to come out of the shadows to strike down the curse with its claws. To only add to the awesome factor, Megumi did this with an incomplete and admittedly "sloppy" Domain.
  • Yuji and Nobara show their incredible teamwork against Eso and Kechizu, even after they were infected with the two's blood.
    • Nobara decides to stab herself with her nails, using her Cursed Technique to cause the two immense pain since their blood is inside her. No matter how much pain it causes her, she keeps on hammering nails through her arm to bring the brothers' defenses down just a bit further.
    • With Nobara distracting the two with her technique, Yuji swiftly moves to quickly pummel Kechizu despite the pain he's feeling thanks to Sukuna's innate poison resistance.
    • After Yuji switches places with Nobara, he easily gets the best of Eso after his technique is released, showing some impressive displays of strength and speed along with some potent usages of cursed energy. Nobara, in the meantime, easily catches up to Kechizu, needing very little theatrics to nail the Cursed Painting. What follows is the duo enacting "Black Flash" on the brothers before they even knew it.
    • Nobara's final act against Kechizu is to use "Hairpin", killing him in a fantastic blaze of cursed energy.
    • The anime somehow ups the awesomeness of the entire sequence by not only animating it with gloriously fluid motion, but also synching it perfectly to the glorious "REMEMBER" by the band Coldrain, matching every blow each side throws at each other, culminating in Yuji and Nobara's dual Black Flash at the song's climax.
    • Eso tries to get away from them after losing Kechizu, but Yuji catches up to him. What he doesn't expect is that Nobara is prepared with his severed arm, using "Resonance" to weaken him even further. Yuji goes in with a final strike, finishing him off with a punch (empowered with cursed energy) to the gut.
  • Panda, Maki, and the Tokyo first-years have impressed Mei Mei and Todo so much; the both of them collectively decide to recommend them for promotion to First Grade to Gakuganji!

    Hidden Inventory-Premature Death Arc
  • A villainous example: it's Implied that Toji hasn't been hunting sorcerers for some time. When he does get back into the fray? Toji's intellect lets him establish a strategy that keeps himself at a distance while Gojo and Geto face other sorcerers, go on trips guarding Riko Amanai, and tire out Gojo who even then as a teen was regarded as a very powerful sorcerer and wielder of the six eyes prior to fully awakening. At the crux of this, Toji manages to fight head-on against the teenager's limitless technique by clouding Gojo's vision with fly heads, and gets close enough to strike the young sorcerer in his throat with the Inverted Spear of Heaven (a cursed tool known for completely nullifying cursed techniques upon contact with the users). He then slices and stabs Gojo several times until he hits the young prodigy's head with a normal knife to the skull, leaving his near-dead body laying there - Gojo later confirms that had Toji used the Spear instead of the non-cursed knife, Gojo would've been completely defeated and the world wouldn't have gained the strongest sorcerer to date. Toji then meets the Young Geto and proceeds to make freqent badass boasts against him, deriding his technique as nothing but rubble by completely killing the dragon curse and the imaginary vengeful cursed spirit at Geto's disposal, even managing to have trained the inventory curse he uses as something Geto's technique cannot take from him. As Toji stands over the battered Geto, he leaves with him with a badass and imposing speech:
Toji: But you guys, with all your blessings, lost to a monkey like me who can't even use jujutsu. Don't you dare forget that if you want to live a long life.
  • Despite Toji ambushing him, stabbing him in the throat and then his head, Gojo reappears, having figured out Cursed Technique Reversal in the instant before death. It understandably gives him quite a high and results in one of his most awesome and iconic lines.
Gojo: Throughout heaven and earth... I alone am the honoured one.
  • Toji is unconcerned, even with Gojo's apparent resurrection, and still feels he'll win with his knowledge of Gojo's techniques, having grown up with the Zenin clan. How does Gojo win? By using Hollow Purple, which only a select few in the Gojo family know about. In an instant the Sorcerer Killer himself is missing a huge chunk of his body.
  • After the battle is over, what does the Sorcerer Killer do in his final moments? He thinks of Megumi as a baby and Megumi's mother and reveals to Gojo that his son is set on course to be sold to the zenin clan and to "do as he pleases" with that information. This aftermath of the battle not only sparks and encourages Satoru to seek out a possible strong sorcerer but it is through this event that Satoru manages to find and help raise Megumi to become both a better sorcerer and a person. Toji not only faced death with dignity but also Indirectly saved his son from the influence of the family that destroyed him and left him in the hands of the Strongest Sorcerer of the Modern Era.

    The Shibuya Incident Arc
  • The entire arc is pretty much made of awesome mixed with tragic and horrific, as it documents what amounts to an unprecedented use of "Jujutsu Terrorism" in a relatively small area densely packed with mostly defenceless civillians, dramatically escalating the stakes compared to the previously largely isolated duels in deserted areas. Every single character gets at least one fight to partake in, and many of the duels which take place during the showdown are still counted among the manga's most iconic by the fandom years after its conclusion.
  • Kokichi Muta, aka Mechamaru's, fight against Mahito. Though he's been reluctantly selling out information to Geto and the curses, as soon as Mahito gives Muta the healthy body he's always wanted, he immediately attacks the Disaster Curse, intending to kill him then escape to warn Gojo about his group's plans for Shibuya. Forgoing his regular Mechamaru puppets, Muta reveals he's constructed a colossal Evangelion-inspired mecha to do battle within, and actually manages to hurt Mahito by firing canisters that contain literal years worth of Muta's stockpiled cursed energy. While he loses the fight and his life, Kokichi makes a hell of a Last Stand, and is posthumously revealed to have set a contingency in place that allows him to help the heroes from beyond the grave in Shibuya.
  • The arc begins with the Disaster Curses raising a barrier around Shibuya, trapping several thousand non-sorcerers within while a message spreads among the panicking crowd - call for Satoru Gojo to show himself. Jujutsu Society immediately goes on high alert, however, to begin with, only Gojo himself is deemed necessary to resolve the issue, the other sorcerers are only meant to plug potential gaps should the perpetrators try and retreat. Once again, the story reinforces why so long as the Gojo clan head lives, Curses cannot hope to shape the world in their image.
  • The fact the Disaster Curses managed to find a way to fight Gojo somewhat safely, even if it uses civilian hostages, developing a method that can break through the Strongest sorcerer's barrier. The end result is that while Gojo still wipes the floor with them, they stand more of a chance than ever before.
  • Despite Jogo and Hanami breaking through his Infinity technique and limiting his range of attacks, Gojo simply resorts beating the crap out of them both with just martial arts and basic cursed energy manipulation.
  • During the subway fight, Gojo tricks Hanami into deactivating their safeguards before mercilessly killing them within seconds by simply re-activating his powers and crushing Hanami against a wall until they're reduced to a smeared crater. It's brutal, pragmatic, and efficient.
    Gojo: Next.
  • Gojo, even after being sealed away by Prison Realm, manages to complicate the villains' plans by rendering the Prison Realm unable to be moved, making it easier for the rest of the sorcerers to get it. How? Why? Because he's Gojo Satoru.
    • However small it was in the grand scheme of things, this stunt managed to break Kenjaku's perpetually smug demeanor for a moment, genuinely shocking and annoying him.
    • The sight of Gojo inside the Prison Realm, casually chilling as an army of skeletons try and fail to reach him through his Infinity.
  • Dagon, who's mostly been a joke, is fed a great number of humans. In response, Dagon becomes a towering Cthulhu-esque monster who terrorizes Shibuya. Despite being a cutesy-looking creature beforehand, Dagon became one of the strongest Disaster Curses around.
  • A revived Toji killing Ogami, rampaging through Shibuya looking for a strong fight, and finding one in Dagon, who's ascended to great power. Toji kills Dagon as casually as most other sorcerers would dust a low-grade curse.
  • Upon realizing he's hurting his own son, Toji stabs himself in the head with utter dignity.
    • Also doubles as a Heartwarming Moment; Toji stops to see his son clearly and reminisces about his previous encounter with Naobito to sell him off, which he does but in doing so genuinely believed that it was the best place for his son to be, as he himself wasn't the best parental figure and knew it. Toji remembers Megumi's mother's words to take care of him and in Toji's last breath:
      Toji: "Hey what's your name?"
      Megumi: "...Fushiguro."
Toji: "Not Zen'in huh? Good for you."
  • Jogo vs. Sukuna. After upgrading Sukuna, Jogo tries to ally with the King of Curses. Sukuna's response is to tell Jogo that he'll cooperate with him if Jogo scores even one hit on him. Figuring that he can pull it off, Jogo makes an effort... and can't manage so much as that. That said, Sukuna is impressed by Jogo and tells him to be proud before delivering a delicious Karmic Death by burning Jogo to a crisp.
  • Nanami's death is both this and a Tearjerker all at once. Delirious from having half his body burned to crisp by Jogo, he keeps moving forward despite the no-doubt horrible pain, thinking only of helping his companions, only to stumble right into an entire army of Mahito's Transfigured humans. He unflinchingly steps forward and tears through the entire horde single-handedly while on death's door. Despite having half of his body rendered useless and taking several hits, he refuses to stop until every transfigured minion is a splatter on the floor. Even when Mahito sneaks up behind him and prepares to kill him, he regains his calm in his last moments and leaves Yuji with his parting words before Mahito detonates him.
Nanami: Yuji..You've got it from here."
  • Nobara's fight against Mahito's double. She starts off the fight with solid trash talk, saying he's "famous" for running away from his last fight like a little bitch, which actually gets under Mahito's skin. She then dodges everything he throws at her while using every attack in her arsenal on him, knowing killing him's unlikely since he can't be damaged unless she successfully strikes his soul. Realizing he isn't trying to use Idle Transfiguration on him, Nobara reasons he's a double and hits him with Resonance, which can damage his soul, wounding not just the double but the real Mahito, who would've killed Yuji had she not struck when she did. The damage is so great that it weakens Mahito long enough for Yuji to deliver a flurry of blows and the double is sent running as he realizes Nobara is just as much his natural enemy as Yuji.
  • Say what you will about Mahito, but him being the first known Cursed Spirit to perform a Black Flash is pretty awesome.
  • When Mahito is about to kill a catatonic Yuji, Todo arrives in style. He then proceeds to fight off Mahito until Yuji can comport himself, even landing a Black Flash in the process. Doubles as a Heartwarming Moment.
Todo: The sound of the Gion Shoja bells echoes the impermanence of all things. The color of the sala flowers reveals the truth that the prosperous must decline. HOWEVER! We are the exception!
  • Yuji vs Mahito, the third and quite possibly the final round: after all the pain and suffering he inflicted on the heroes ever since he was introduced, Mahito finally gets what's coming to him. First, in the heat of the battle Todo successfully bluffs Mahito into thinking that he could use his jujutsu with just one hand, distracting the latter so much it leaves him completely open. Then Yuji finally lands a crushing blow on Mahito ending with a speech that manages to be simultaneously heroic and chilling, making the latter run away in terror.
Yuji: You're right, Mahito. I'm you. I wanted to reject you, convince myself that you were wrong. But that doesn't matter now. I'm gonna kill you. Even if you come back as another curse, I'll kill you. Change your name. Change your form. I'll kill you again. I don't need to find meaning or a reason. Maybe in a hundred years after my death, the meaning behind my actions will become apparent. In the grand scheme of things... I'm probably nothing more than a cog. But I'll keep killing curses... for as long as I can. That's my role in all this.
  • While it came at a great cost, both of civilians and his own lieutenants, Kenjaku managed to actually score a major victory by sealing Gojo away, leaving the heroes without their Story-Breaker Power.

     Yuji's Execution Arc
  • Literately, everything Yuji does. He starts out by casually defeating multiple Cursed Spirits in a way that made even Choso consider him a demon god... And then he goes out to fight none other but YUTA Okkotsu, the second greatest sorcerer in present times, and managed to break his sword! Despite being injured still and nearly suicidal, he persisted against Yuta's relentless assault and managed to avoid his attacks before using a knife to briefly fight him off and ultimately using his bare hands to break the katana. Had Yuta not pulled a quick I Am Not Left-Handed by summoning Rika, Yuji would probably have been able to damage him. Yuta even stated that Yuji's skill definitely proved he had been trained by Gojo. While Yuta was in fact holding himself back as he didn't really want to kill him, so he was just using enough power to inflict lethal damage but not destroy his body so he can revive him later, later on, he admits that Yuji too wasn't giving it his all as well. This reminds us exactly why Yuji is The Ace of the first years and why Gojo previously considered him to be capable of surpassing him.

     Perfect Preparation Arc
  • Maki single-handedly eradicating the cruel, sexist Zen'in Clan. After her treacherous father, Ogi, wounds Maki and Mai and leaves them to be eaten alive by cursed spirits, Mai sacrifices her life to save her sister, causing Maki to reach the full potential of her Heavenly Restriction. Gaining superhuman physical abilities putting her on par with Toji Fushiguro, Maki immediately begins to fulfill Mai's last request: "Destroy everything." Maki starts by killing her loathsome father, cleaving off the top of his skull without breaking stride before Ogi can even finish issuing his challenge to her. She then wipes out the entirety of the Kukuru Unit, then slaughters the Hei Unit, the elite of the Zen'in Clan comprised of semi-Grade 1 sorcerers and higher. Her revenge culminates in a duel against her abusive, misogynistic cousin, Naoya Zen'in, a Special Grade 1 sorcerer just as strong as his father, Naobito, the former clan head who laughed at Maki's dream of ever being strong enough to lead the clan. Tanking his blows, Maki analyzes his movements and with her heightened senses is able to overcome Naoya's 24 frames per second Cursed Technique and take him out with a single punch while he's moving at subsonic speed. She accomplishes all of this within the course of 3 chapters, and a note in the arc's epilogue reveals Maki killed every remaining Zen'in Clan member who wasn't at the house that day, completely destroying one of the Big Three Families of jujutsu society and completing her promise to her sister.

     Culling Games Arc
  • Hiromi Higuruma is already fed up with the Japanese legal system and its presumptions of guilt, so when the prosecution's laziness ensures the conviction of an innocent, Hiromi's fury awakens Deadly Sentencing, his Cursed Technique, complete with a badass one-liner.
Hiromi: Everyone come back. We're having a retrial.
  • After Yuji confesses to being guilty of the Shibuya massacre, Hiromi throws the fight. Why? Because Hiromi realizes that Yuji was possessed by Sukuna, and no matter what the "law" says, he can't let Yuji die for a deed he didn't willingly commit. For all Yuji may have developed guilt over the massacre, Hiromi has none of it and lets Yuji off the hook.
  • Notably, despite suffering a Brought Down to Badass due to Judgeman's confiscation ability, Yuji is still able to give Higuruma a well-matched fight with just his sheer physical ability. As Higurama notes, no one else he fought ever managed to fight him that well after being stripped of their Cursed Energy.
  • The fight between Megumi and Reggie Star is packed with awesome, both of them breaking out elaborate techniques and throwing Batman Gambit against Batman Gambit until Megumi finally comes out the victor by outwitting Reggie, letting Reggie think his Demon Dog was long gone. Suffice it to say, Megumi's come a long way to pull this victory off.
  • When Yuta can't make an opening between himself and Kurourushi, he exorcises the Curse by giving it mouth to mouth and channeling cursed energy. Yuta's not just powerful; he's crafty, too.
  • Yuta fights four of the strongest sorcerers the Culling Games has to offer one after another and comes out decidedly the victor, obtaining the 200 points necessary to proceed with the students' plan.
    • Before the fight, in the TCB translation, Yuta is introduced as a prodigy "in this modern era second only to Satoru Gojo" after casually finishing one of said sorcerers off-screen.
  • Ryu Ishigori deserves credit for being the only sorcerer apart from Gojo to ever defeat Rika, a cursed spirit so powerful Geto thought that he could defeat Gojo with her. And he did this in essentially three blows
    • Apart from this, he doesn't even really get defeated by getting severely injured or losing his cursed energy reserves; he chooses to stop fighting after Yuta satisfies him.
  • Kashimo is the first player to reach 200 points and is so feared, that he makes even Angel run away from the barrier entirely.
  • Just as Kashimo is about to finish off Panda, Hakari arrives with an inferno of cursed energy and casual one-liner, then proceeds to fight one of the most terrifying sorcerers introduced so far to a standstill, repeatedly tanking blows that would have killed anyone else thanks to his absolutely absurd cursed technique. Kashimo meanwhile takes everything in stride, in a battle that is essentially two extreme battle junkies loving every second of getting the shit beat out of them.
  • Hakari and Kashimo are two anomalies among sorcerers who fight with the extremes of Jujutsu and can match the strongest sorcerers. Kashimo deliberately doesn't use his cursed technique and instead just pummels people with his fists and manipulates his electric cursed energy to devastating effect, meanwhile Hakari goes the opposite route and repeatedly casts his Domain Expansion over and over again until he defeats his enemies.
  • After humiliating Naoya for a second time, finishing him off for good, Maki fully becomes the second coming of Toji, described by the manga as "the god of war reborn".
  • Chapter 200 reveals that Kenjaku's grand plan is much bigger than anything previously presumed: He's been working with world governments to capture Sorcerers by offering Cursed Energy as a potential energy source, having played worldwide powers with ease in the interest of achieving his goals. The sheer degree to which he is The Chessmaster is unprecedented to anything the heroes have seen before.
  • In Chapter 202, Choso arrives to kill Kenjaku. After Kenjaku reveals his full plan to turn all non-Sorcerers into a twisted abomination of Cursed Energy, flesh and agony, Choso demands to know why. Kenjaku admits it's purely for his genuine amusement in classic Faux Affably Evil fashion. Does Choso go mad at the knowledge or panic? No. His response is a mere two words: Piercing Blood.
  • Choso manages to make Kenjaku use another cursed technique apart from Cursed Spirit Manipulation despite the latter saying he wouldn't by mimicking his siblings abilities.
  • Yuki's fight with Kenjaku is one whole CMOA, first she easily destroys his Special Grade Elephant Curse by kicking her Shikigami like a ball at it, then she punches Geto so hard that she destroys his arms and makes him break the barrier Tengen makes. Her technique and its effects are also so overwhelming that Kenjaku immediately decides to use his domain expansion.
  • Yuki and Tengen's plan to deal with Kenjaku's domain expansion is rendered pointless because his is an open barrier domain, like Sukuna's, and as such has no shell to be dismantled. Yuki's Simple Domain is torn apart by his domain and she gets hit by a devastating attack that leaves her arm mangled.
    • Kenjaku also has a simple domain that is on another level compared to most sorcerers
  • Kenjaku's speech to tengen also counts due to the fact not only is he completely confident in his abilities as a sorcerer,It shows us without any doubt that Kenjaku is a formidable sorcerer due to his long lifespan of 1,000 years and all the experiences he had which led up to how and who he is the present day:
Kenjaku: "Tengen, I'm not the same as YOU. I HAVE LIVED THROUGH THIS THOUSAND YEAR TUG OF WAR BETWEEN FEUDING GIANTS! THE CAPRICIOUS ALLIANCES AND BETRAYALS...OF THIS WORLD OF CURSES!!!!"
  • Chapter 209: The soldiers are shown to have used everything they could in their arsenal to defeat the sorcerer named Haba. Haba was easily dealt with by Yuji who's still a first year of the jujutsu school but is apparently a Curb-Stomp Cushion against that of the non-sorcerers against him, being able to tank .50 caliber bullets, tasers, and grenades. Although they manage to kill him offscreen, it wasn't without difficulty. This singular feat by the military shows us that while non-sorcerers can in fact harm sorcerers, they have to go through a lot of hell to do so.
  • Chapter 212: Though it's understandably the worst possible situation for the heroes, credit must be given to Sukuna demonstrating that what makes him such a fearsome opponent isn't just his immense power or relentless sadism, but the intelligence through which he utilises both to cause the maximum possible damage. His 'Enchain' command made through the binding Vow allows him control over Yuji for one minute only, in which time he is forbidden from hurting or killing anybody. Whilst he obscured its existence through making Yuji forget about it as part of the conditions, the effectiveness of this moment is dependant on it being a surprise attack that nobody can factor into their plans, meaning using it once will be the only time he can truly maximise his advantage. And that is precisely what Sukuna does, knocking Kurusu unconscious before anybody realises he's assumed command in the confusion over Tsumiki being revealed to actually be possessed by an incarnated sorcerer named Yorozu, before injecting his essence into one of Yuji's fingers and ripping it off. Despite admitting it was a gamble, he's delighted to suffer no ill-effects from doing so, exulting that Yuji didn't include himself in those 'not to be harmed'. And before Megumi can summon his familiars to attack, he easily restrains him and forces the finger down his throat. The chapter ends with Yuji restored to control of himself, horrified before Megumi, now sporting the Extra Eyes and Facial Markings of Sukuna. In the span of a minute, Sukuna has gained control of a vessel that he has complete control over and is free to exercise his unrestrained bloodlust without interference, despite all the restrictions placed on him.
Megumi/Sukuna: Remember when I said we'd see something interesting, boy?
  • Chapter 213: A long villainous example as Sukuna, now in Megumi's body, gets to cut loose once more. His first order of business is to knock the guts out of Yuji by punching a hole through the latter's stomach with enough force to send Yuji flying into a few buildings away, leaving him incapacitated. Sensing the presence of both Takaba and Maki running toward the commotion below, Sukuna just calls them "insects" and summons Megumi's prized shikigami Nue in its most powerful and largest form to date. Utilizing his cursed energy within the Ten Shadows technique, Sukuna has Nue summon lightning to rain down upon the denizens below, but is confronted by Hana Kurusu and the Angel above, who dissipate the shikigami and activate an ability named Jacob's Ladder, a bright beam of holy cursed energy specialized for a specific target along with a chant to boot. This attack actually manages to catch Sukuna by surprise and even affects him to a degree...but Sukuna just turns this into a successful opportunity to bait Hana by impersonating Megumi and playing on her love to come closer to him. When she comes close enough and hug, Sukuna proceeds to widen his head and mouth large enough to bite right into her.
  • Chapter 214: Things are looking bleak as Angel is grievously injured and tossed away by Sukuna, who looks over the building's edge to see that Yuji endured a punch that sent him flying through three skyscrapers without a scratch! Upon seeing Angel fall, Yuji enters a whole new level of anger, and uses seemingly nothing but pure strength to jump with so much force that he shatters the roof he is standing on, covering the incredible distance he was launched away in less than a second and swinging a punch so powerful it surprises even Sukuna, who should by all purposes know everything Yuji can do.
    Yuji: SUKUNAAAAA!!!
    • Yuji hurling a piece of road at Sukuna, and at the same span of time it's flying with Sukuna's face planted on it, he grabs a pole to swing against him.
    • Yuji outright screams at Sukuna for his downright apathetic and murderous nature and as Sukuna gives him his speech about weaklings and how undeserving they are of even trying to gain happiness in life. Yuji straight up tells him in no uncertain words to come at him then:
Ryomen: "To me, the real question is why are you all so weak? Why do weaklings cling to fiercely to life? How can a creature that falls apart at a touch say that it always wants to be happy? The helpless have no choice but to swallow the suffering life gives them."
Yuji: "Then let's see if you can swallow my suffering."
  • Chapter 215: Not only does Sukuna manage to recover despite Megumi's suppression of his power, he takes on Yuji and Maki at the same time.
    • The fight is wholly interrupted when Uraume unleashes a massive burst of ice, taking their master away while they laugh gleefully at their victory. Itadori, however, isn't down for the count; he emerges from the ice by beating his way through and giving a Death Glare to the absconding villains, all but stating outright that Sukuna's arrogance in letting him live will come back to destroy the villain in the future.
  • Chapter 216: Sukuna pulling a Single-Stroke Battle on Ishigori on his way to fight Yorozu. To whatever credit meets the King of Curse's standards, Ishigori survived Sukuna's initial attack. Which only prompted Sukuna to "fight for real" and slice his head into three pieces in a Speed Blitz.
  • From Chapters 217 to 219: The battle between Yorozu and Sukuna is pretty awesome. Yorozu's technique is revealed to be the same as Mai's and it's revealed that Yorozu fought another squad equal in strength to the Sun-Moon-Stars group called The Five Void Generals and was begrudingly given acknowledgement by the fujiwara clan in turn. It is also revealed that Ryomen utterly slaughtered both the Five Void and Sun-Moon-Stars squads in the past. Down to the last man. Yorozu does everything she can to try to affect Sukuna in everyway and yet Sukuna expertly and surprisingly shows great usage of the Ten shadows technique. He's able to summon the wheel of Mahoraga over his head and use two additional never before seen shikigami in his disposal and in turn uses Mahoraga to destroy the sphere Yorozu made perfectly.
  • Chapter 221: Satoru Gojo returns!!!
    • To start with the chapter is actually pretty upbeat, as it should be since it's the first major win the good guys have had since Shibuya, and the first win at all since Sukuna took over Megumi's body. Everything's in place to Unseal Gojo and let him get to work fixing this dismal situation. Once everything's in place, Hana casts Jacob's Ladder on the back of the Prison Realm and releases Gojo.
    • In the next few panels it's revealed that Kenjaku decided to put his side of prison realm 8,000 meters below the surface of Japan, with even more seals on top of it and Cursed Spirits to act as sensors on his behalf all of which were supposed to ultimately kill or at least delay Gojo. Absolutely none of this did a thing to stop Satoru from returning to the surface, as he either teleported directly to Kenjaku or, judging by his ripped up clothing, blitzed through the defenses and flew straight to his target like Superman.
    • Once Gojo finds Kenjaku he ALMOST KILLS HIM with ease stating: "You should choose your words more carefully. For they will be your last." Then suddenly Ryomen Sukuna comes to the fray and a massive gust of wind hurls around Kenjaku as Gojo and Sukuna confront one another. After the dust is settled and everyone chooses to fight on December 24th, Gojo has a call-back to Yuji's question on if he can win against Sukuna, Satoru responds thus: "Nah I'd win."

    Shinjuku Showdown Arc
  • The entire fight between Satoru Gojo and Ryomen Sukuna is this.
    • Rather than just charging head-on against Sukuna like he usually would, Satoru once again proved that despite his straightforward personality, he backs up his overwhelming power with genuine intellectual genius and pragmatism by landing a successful surprise attack on the conniving King of Curses. He requests the aid of Utahime and Ijichi, both being people who he regularly referred to as weak, out of trust and consideration for their ability to contribute in the attack, and both manage to do their job perfectly: Ijichi's barrier proves enough to fool Sukuna's senses, while Utahime's technique, revealed to be the supportive Solo Forbidden Area, achieves a 120% increase in Satoru's output through the use of incantations, gestures, and the music of Gakuganji. The result is Satoru, flawless in the activation of his cursed technique, unleashing a 200% Hollow Purple on Sukuna and completely catching Sukuna off-guard. Only when he saw the impact his attack had on Sukuna did Satoru finally boast of his power, and he does so with a simple but effective reminder that Sukuna's strength was the greatest in the past by calling him the challenger.
      • Credit for Sukuna. Despite the surprise attack, he quickly recovers and manages to survive the overwhelmingly powerful Hollow Purple that had once one-shotted the likes of Toji and almost killed Hanami with only a burn arm to show for it.
    • Even their warmup is already quite a show. After a brief exchange of hand-to-hand combat fueled with cursed energy coursing through both Satoru and Sukuna's hands, Satoru falls back into the basic technique of Limitless, Blue, to throw Sukuna around, despite scarcely making use of it after mastering Reverse Cursed Energy and preferring the use of Red. Of course, Sukuna easily survives all of it without taking any damage to himself and even manages to escape from having a bridge thrown to a nearby building with a smirk still on his face. He then uses Dismantle on the building behind Satoru and manages to punch Satoru coupled with Domain Amplification hard enough to force him inside the building. When they both perform an off-screen attack, the result devastates the area around them while the two strongest characters in the series just casually come out of it unfazed.
      • Despite the fact that Kashimo Hajime used to be so confident in being willing to fight Sukuna, even he had to acknowledge Sukuna's efficiency in cursed energy control was godlike and the fact he is capable of switching between his cursed technique and Domain Amplification with astonishing ease, demonstrating just how much of The Archmage Sukuna truly is, and Yuta even says that Sukuna's cursed energy is about twice or more than his own reserves, with the fact that Sukuna is fighting a bearer of the Six Eyes, a power that allows nigh-impossible expenditure of cursed energy, on fairly even terms while being doubtlessly ahead in terms of raw cursed energy reminding us exactly why he was the strongest sorcerer in history and the only reason why Satoru could fight him was his Six Eyes, as Kashimo had pointed out.
    • The fact that both Sukuna and Satoru are able to clash Domain Expansions not once, but five times, and survive in each other's domain when their Domain happened to be compromised, show just how they are on an entirely different level in terms of jujutsu genius, rendering the likes of Kusakabe, an expert of Barrier Techniques, utterly speechless and befuddled.
      • The first Domain Clash shows that Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine is just as strong as Satoru's Unlimited Void, their side-effects cancelling each other out depicted in a quite intense manner, but his open-barrier nature and great range allowed it to surpass Satoru's Domain by destroying it by attacking it from the outside where Unlimited Void doesn't reach and force Satoru into a life-and-death experience for the second time in his life...
      • Even while being attacked by Sukuna's overpowering slashes, Satoru shows how far he's come since he almost died to Toji by quickly healing the massive incoming damage. As he's being minced, his inner thoughts are not of panic, but of the superiority of his Limitless compared to Sukuna's rather simple technique. He reveals he really can do anything by conjuring a Simple Domain to hold off the attacks. Just as had happened with Yuki, the Simple Domain is torn apart, but Gojo simply summons it again. Next, he truly astonishes the veteran sorcerers watching, by somehow using Reverse Curse Technique to recover the exhausted Limitless! Sukuna is blindsided when Gojo suddenly uses Red to blast him into the Shrine, gaining back the advantage from what should, by all standards, be a lost position!
      • Their second Domain Clash has Satoru shift Unlimited Void's barrier setting by making it strong in the outside, but this time, it's Sukuna's turn to get one up over Satoru. He uses Domain Amplification within his own Domain to be able to touch Satoru, grabs onto him to avoid the mental stun, and focuses the Malevolent Shrine's power on the outside entirely, once again winning the clash. Not to be outdone, Satoru composes himself and activates Falling Blossom Emotion, turning the ensuing rain of slices into much more manageable skin-surface cuts, and once again recovers his technique.
      • How does Satoru finally gain a decisive advantage over Sukuna in their Domain clashes? Recasting Unlimited Void, he narrows his domain's outer shell to the size of a basketball, a maneuvre only possible due to his experience in the Prison Realm. Sukuna narrows down Malevolent Shrine's range to compensate, but Satoru injures him to the point where both Domains fall apart in tandem. He then finally wears Sukuna down by damaging him such that he is late to restore his cursed technique, allowing him to cast his own Domain 0,01 second faster than Sukuna. Just that small difference alone is enough to push Malevolent Shrine to the brink and within 2,45 minutes, Unlimited Void finally overcomes Sukuna's domain and renders him at Gojo's mercy, fully turning the tables...
      • However, just as it seems that Sukuna might suffer critical damage due to his immobilization, he decides to show his trump card and reminds us just how much of a Genius Bruiser and The Archmage he truly is by revealing he's been able to trick Gojo and force Megumi to bear the burden of adapting to Unlimited Void, allowing Mahoraga to destroy Gojo's Domain in a single hit.
    • When Gojo tries to recast his Domain once again, he begins bleeding profusely from the mouth and nose. Turns out that the secret to Gojo's rapid replenishment of Limitless was destroying his own prefrontal cortex, then rapidly healing it to acquire a "fresh" brain. Doing so damn near lobotomized Gojo every time he did it, and he finds the strain of a fifth attempt too much for even him to bear. Sukuna, having only done so twice, prepares to finish Gojo off with a closed Malevolent Shrine... only for blood to begin pouring out of Sukuna's face as well while Malevolent Shrine collapses behind him. Turns out, though Sukuna only bore the effects of Unlimited Void for less than ten seconds, it still inflicted enough brain damage to render a Domain Expansion impossible!
      • On Gojo's side, the fact that he was able to pull off such a complex maneuver shows that while he might not be capable of healing others, he is the master of personal healing. He was able to pull it off four times, survive it for a fifth time and still stand up. As Gojo rises to his feet, he laughs like a maniac upon witnessing his plan's success, then proceeds to slug the King of Curses while calling back to the very first scuffle between the two of them in a truly awesome mixture of boasting and heartwarming.
    • With both fighters' Domains effectively out for the count, the fight devolves into a mixture of Technique application and Good Old Fisticuffs. To give the audience an inkling of just how stupidly hard Gojo's hits are, Kusakabe has Okkotsu and Hakari, both of whom had been "seriously punched" by Gojo during training, explain how it feels. Turns out, Gojo not only reinforces himself with Cursed Energy, he also applies Blue to each of his physical strikes, meaning every punch of his feels like a counterpunch. How painful was it? Both of his premier pupils threw up from the blows.
      • Eager to make the most of stealing the initiative, Gojo drags Sukuna's face across the concrete, then begins using Blue to try and crush Sukuna against the rubble. As Mahoraga's Wheel appears above Sukuna's head, Gojo deduces that Sukuna is once again undertaking the adaptation process on the shikigami's behalf, so as to adapt it to Limitless and bypass Gojo's defense without Amplification. The other sorcerers worry that, after the first spin, the wheel only requires three more to complete the adaptation. Gojo's response is, of course, simply to smirk and declare that he doesn't need the time required for the process to complete to finish Sukuna off.
      • As Gojo continues hounding Sukuna with Blue, the fight moves into a covered circular courtyard. Gambling he has managed to trick Sukuna into thinking he will only use Blue, Gojo switches up tactics, suddenly blasting a ball of Red Sukuna's way. Amazingly, the King of Curses manages to take the blast without major damage thanks to swift deployment of Amplification. But just as Sukuna begins mocking Gojo for getting sloppy due to anxiety, Gojo remarks that the ball of Red still hasn't exploded. Right on que, the Red orb impacts directly against Sukuna's back. Turns out, Gojo has enough control over his Technique to manipulate the orbs at great distance as well, utilizing the building's circular courtyard to cover the Red's trajectory and catch the King of Curses with his pants down. And just as Sukuna recovers enough to realize this, he is brutally hit from the front, this time with a move Yuji is intimately familiar with, a move strong enough to knock Sukuna out for the second time in the fight:
    Yuji: "Black Flash..."
  • While Sukuna is knocked out by said Black Flash, somehow Mahoraga's wheel spins despite sukuna's unconsciousness and from the shadows underneath Mahoraga's arms start to spring up and manages to use the Sword of Extermination upon Gojo, as he slashes his chest leaving Gojo slightly unnerved by the attack and in shock due to how aprupt it is. Now again facing the Zen'in clan's Treasured creature springs forth a call back to Gojo memory as he ponders on whether he's going to survive this fight or not. The man who he remembers is the image of Toji Fushiguro, the Sorcerer Killer, who defeated him once 11 years ago before his powers awakened. Remembering this man manages to get Satoru to go from Doubting himself to feeling Satisfaction because he is now yet again, fighting against a strong and skilled opponent who has the potential to actually best him in combat.
  • As Satoru gathers himself, he takes two strong punches that manage to stagger the divine general temporarily and begins to recite Jujutsu Incantations to Restore his Cursed energy output for his Cursed Technique Reversal: Red. to Mahoraga's credit he manages to quickly gather himself enough from those powerful punches and goes on the absolute offensive against Gojo while Ryomen Sukuna regains consciousness and utlizes Mahoraga to go back and forth between the summonings so sukuna can deliver surprise attacks against Gojo, Going as far as to throw objects like a fire extinguisher and using the hand formation of "Piercing blood" utlizing max elephant's Cursed energized water as a Powered beam against Gojo. Managing to shoot Gojo's arm at best.
  • Satoru is surprised to see the way Sukuna is utilizing the Ten shadows technique as it is Unorthodox at best and Creative at worse to use a shikigami's abilities without fully summoning the shikigami themselves. Satoru also realizes that Sukuna is using mahoraga not as mere support but so that whenever Mahoraga dispels Gojo's Infinity, he can go about attacking Gojo during the opening shots. Satoru believes he can easily manage the usual 2 on 1 scenario that Jujutsu Kaisen can be about but is soon proved wrong with Sukuna reveals he can also merge shikigami together by taking "Nue", "Divine Dog: Totality", as well as "Tranquil Deer" and "Round Tiger". Forming the Merged shikigami known as Fusion Beast Agito. Now a 3 on 1 all combatants go on the offensive against Gojo as he expertly dodges all their hits and tries to evade as he thinks of a strategy to defeat Mahoraga particularly.
    Ryomen: "Don't misunderstand. This isn't a 2 on 1. It's a 3 on 1."
Gojo: "Dude you look like a lost little Alien boy."
  • Yuta Okkotsu is considering and nearly does enter the battle as he witnessed the unfair advantage of more participants against Gojo but Hajime stops him in his tracks angered by the possible interference of the fight. Yuta also angered, argues that because of the circumstances he and his Rika can make it easier on Gojo by facing and attacking both Mahoraga and Agito together but Hakari, Maki, Kusakabe , and Mei mei manage to talk him out of it by pointing out that they do not know what other cards Sukuna may hold as well as the fact because he is the 2nd strongest sorcerer of the modern era after Gojo, he is the insurance for the team should any of their other plans not come into fruition. Yuji of all people encourages him to go out there to fight and support Gojo but Hajime gets the last word by stating it's Gojo fight alone and they should not interfere in it. This shows that despite Gojo being the strongest of their entire group, Yuta and Yuji don't see him as just the "Strongest" but their sensei who helped them and saved them and they want to give back their support to him regardless of the stakes involved.
  • We see Satoru Gojo battling against the two shikigami and manages to make numerous wounds upon and against that of Fusion beast: Agito. Punching a hole in their stomach as well as ripping their tail off but none of those work because of the creature's reversed cursed technique enabling them to heal any and all wounds against them. Satoru figures out he's gonna have to take out Agito in one shot in order to prevent Sukuna from getting the chance to heal from the creature's reverse cursed technique capabilities and insults the creature for not being anymore powerful and versatile than Mahoraga. Sukuna on the other hand, is happy that his strategy of hiding in the shadows and waiting for the right time to attack is working but also states that he isn't up to par physically to withstand a powerful attack such as Hollow Purple at a close ranged distance. Judging that if he does, he'll die instantly to it. Sukuna then demands that Mahoraga find a way to show him more of what he can do and to not make him wait stating Mahoraga's no longer Megumi Fushiguro's shadow but his and his alone. Then we see one of Sukuna's slashes is used after the Wheel spun once more, taking out Gojo's arm as well as shocking Gojo for an instant.
  • Despite the physical attacks that Gojo is being wailed with upon the slash, Gojo then decides that Agito isn't as strong nor as powerful as everyone else in the battlefield and with a smile destroys Agito's very existence with a Maximum Output: Blue.
Gojo: "You're not strong enough to be here."
  • The Narrator goes on to state that in the next 41 seconds Gojo's Unlimited Hollow purple will make once again make it's mark on the old battlefield of Shinjuku. The Narration then states that Satoru Gojo in the next scene utilizes a 2nd Black flash and begins feeling a strong sense of exhilaration while for the first time in 1,000 years, Ryomen Sukuna beings to feel the feeling of nervousness. Satoru engages physical hand to hand combat against Mahoraga and Sukuna. Mahoraga does all that it can to defend and tank the punches and kicks of Gojo for it's master and manages to succeed in preventing any significant damage to Sukuna's body. Satoru beings to recite the Jujutsu Incantations as the Narrator also explains that all Jujutsu sorcerers have a "Spark" (Cursed energy that swells up within a sorcerer before they utilize their cursed technique). Prior to any powerful technique such as Domain expansion, A sure hit technique or any other powerful technique, there will always be a "Spark". Satoru is no exception and Sukuna manages to judge said "Spark" from the moment Satoru used Cursed technique reversal: Red.
  • Satoru surprisingly sends a blast of Red up toward the sky and Sukuna then screams Mahoraga's name as he realizes what Gojo is doing. Mahoraga is then given orders to rush forth against the giant orb of energy Blue and prevent the merging of both Red and Blue so Hollow purple cannot form but because Mahoraga is already adapted to the power of Blue, The Giant orb's attraction power can not bring Mahoraga any closer to it unlike Satoru who uses the attraction of blue to propel his level of super speed and manages to punch away Mahoraga from the sphere. Ryomen decided to use Max elephant's Cursed water to pierce that sphere but Satoru simply recites the Jujutsu Incantations once more and summons....
    Gojo: "Hollow Technique: Purple."
  • Said attack not only destroys the Divine General and it's wheel but takes out a good chunk of Shinjuku along with it. Both Sukuna and Gojo are also caught in the blast but while sukuna comes out injured and maimed with his clothes destroyed and battered, his left arm taken apart , and his left eye gone. Satoru Gojo comes out with few to no injuries except his face scarred and is able to heal himself due to his cursed energy output levels said to be returning back to their normal levels by Kusakabe by using Black flash more than once. We then see Kusakabe declare Gojo the winner of the Battle.
  • Following Gojo's defeat, who else charges into the fray but Hajime Kashimo!
    • Kashimo takes advantage of Sukuna's weakened body by immediately blurting out a huge sound wave by his mouth and wails on Sukuna with his newfound energized punches. "Mythical Beast Amber" is then explained to transform Hajime's body to being able to utilize any and all phenomena related to electricity a weapon at his disposal. Increasing his agility by affecting his brain's electrical signals, optimizing and tuning his soundwaves to match the natural frequencies of materials as well as, vaporizing irradiated objects utilizing electromagnetic waves. Kashimo's body is said to surpass that of a regular human being entirely. His newfound power forces Sukuna to take desperate measures and by utilizing a one-time method of fully reincarnating, Sukuna is then revitalized entirely by showing Hajime his true form from the Heian era.
    • The pendulum swings back around and gives some awesome moments to Sukuna as the real battle starts between the two. Now that Sukuna is fully revitalized in his original form, it is made very clear and explained by the author that this form is actually downright superior to other sorcerers because of the added help of having 2 mouths and another set of arms with his body able to chant Jujutsu incantations without breaking too much of a sweat and even with a mutated body such as his, he has no loss in his bodily functions. Even Kashimo with his released Cursed technique calls this form "Beautiful." Despite Kashimo being on the offensive and actually managing to put Sukuna on the ropes the first time 'round, Sukuna takes advantage of the strength of his extra set of arms and manages to release the same dismantle slash that managed to kill Gojo again and even has to warn Kashimo to dodge it in order to not die instantly which Kashimo does, albeit not without taking some damage. Sukuna then releases a mega ton of dismantle slashes Kashimo's way after a short but intense hand to hand combat scene and apparently manages to kill Kashimo. The chapter also explains just who the sorcerers were who sharpened their skills against him back in the Heian era. It was both the Fujiwara's most elite teams the Five void generals and the Sun-Moon-Stars team (Uro's group) as well as the Abe clan's Desshichin squad of whom Angel herself hails from and that of the Remnants of the Sugawara clan (Gojo and Yuta's ancestors.) Sukuna armed with the Cursed tools of Kamutoke and Hiten, slaughtered the former two groups and repelled the latter two groups.
    • While Sukuna was fairly playful during his fight with Gojo, his demeanor noticeably changes during the battle with Kashimo. They don't have any banter or an extended fistfight, with the King of Curses looking visibly concerned and fairly unprepared to face off with an opponent quite so capable so soon after finishing Satoru. Kashimo immediately jumps into the fray and starts hitting Sukuna with everything he has, and Sukuna responds by fully incarnating instead of even trying to fight back with Megumi's weakened body. The fact that the fight ended so quickly only serves to showcase just how seriously Sukuna decided to take it. He identified the "God of Thunder" as a genuine threat to his life and decided to go all out instead of taking the chance of dying.
  • We are shown a panel of Hakari's domain collapsing as both fighters exit it with Hakari's face confident while Uraume's is distressed. The timely arrival of both Hiromi Higuruma with his Gigantic Hammer and Yuji's newfound curse-like arm are shown to be decending upon Ryomen Sukuna with utter disgust and stern adamance. Sukuna reply to Yuji's rage fueled arrival is:
Ryomen: "Just what do you think you'll be able to do,Brat?"

    Idiot Survivor Arc
  • Kenjaku is shown relaxing in the trees of a forest whilst a sorcereress comes by to ask questions and fight. He easily dispatches her with his jellyfish curse. As he's talking to her corpse, Iori Hazenoki shows up and has a conversation with him, pointing out he should have brought back up. After some banter between the two, a fight breaks out, with Hazenoki as the loser. Before Hazenoki dies, he asks Kenjaku what the point in doing all of this is, to which Kenjaku simply replies "Because it's interesting. Isn't life supposed to be?". Hazenoki's last words to Kenjaku are as follows:
  • Kenjaku comes across Fumihiko Takaba. Kenjaku immediately dismisses him and tries to obliterate him to in a single attack, only for a pissed off Takaba to emerge completely unharmed. This catches the ancient sorcerer completely off guard, as in all centuries lived he’s never seen or experienced an ability like that before.
Fumihiko Takaba: "There’s all sorts of exciting things in the world, but the no.1 spot has to go to the moment when the side character absolutely steals the show!"
  • Fumihiko's Cursed technique is shown to warp reality in a way that he can temporarily summon words on a person's face as well as change said person's clothes into a character of his ideal choosing. Kenjaku's appearance changes to suit that of Bandit Keith and Fumihiko constantly annoys him by placing words and objects onto his person. We are also shown that Fumihiko's nigh-invulnerability works in accordance to what he finds funny and his own confidence within himself, as Kenjaku's Cursed Spirit Manipulation has ZERO effect on him.
  • Bonus points for Fumihiko, as it turns out Kenjaku has never felt or encountered a technique like his even after living well over 1,000 years. Even with all the experience and knowledge Kenjaku has at his disposal, none of it is enough to actually affect Takaba in a meaningful way, so he decides to figure out how to pick apart Takaba's confidence within himself by using sheer rigid logic!
Kenjaku: "Negating my technique?!! It's an embodiment and enforcement of his imagination!! If I'm not careful... my one-thousand-years of jujutsu know-how will prove meaningless!!"
  • In chapter 242, We get to see just how Takaba's Cursed technique can oppose even that of Satoru Gojo himself.
  • Takaba's technique isn't solely limited to that of his imagination. It's instead revealed to be a sort of Soul manipulation as well as a reality-warping technique that can force the thoughts of his opponents to take part in whatever simulation that Takaba's "Comedian" so chooses. It also in effect is capable of actually hurting any opponent that finds themselves going against the hilarious injuries that can be negated and healed for Takaba himself. Plus, the cursed technique can go on indefinitely as long as Takaba constantly thinks of scenarios that he finds funny while his opponents rack up more and more damage.
  • It's revealed that all along the "fight" was an elaborate distraction so that Yuta could sneak up behind Kenjaku and slice his head clean off. Since Kenjaku would be able to sense something with so much cursed energy, Takaba was sent in to use his Special Grade level abilities to disorient the Curse User and keep him off guard long enough for Yuta to get close enough to deliver the killing blow. This is an awesome moment for multiple characters because the amount of planning it took to make happen, and happen successfully, was a masterstroke by the Sorcerers.

    Shinjuku Showdown Arc Round 2
  • In a rare case of intelligence, Yuji manages to hatch a plan to convince Judgeman to give Sukuna the death sentence by bringing up the Shibuya Massacre trial he did when he fought Higuruma.
  • Hakari being considered a monster rather than a human by a Heian era sorcerer such as Uraume and Uraume analyzing and deducing that Hakari's RCT level is on another level that surpasses both Satoru Gojo's and Ryomen Sukuna's usage altogether. Hakari also proves how much he loves his "Fever" by going head first into battle with Uraume regardless of any injury put upon him and thinks of Yuta Okkotsu when Uraume gets done with finishing their speech about humans of the modern era , as he flat out tells Uraume:
Hakari: " Everyone's talking about Humanity. Is it trending or something? I just got finished hearing the same kinda thing from my junior. He's a bit of a gloomy kid but he's a man who sticks to his word. You can't help but respect him. and you know what? I'm getting REAL HYPED UP HERE!!! BRING ME AN ICE COLD ONE!!!"
  • When it seems that Sukuna has him on the ropes, Higuruma manages to nullify his cutting attacks with a Domain Amplification, something he only recently learned after seeing Sukuna perform it once. Sukuna is completely enthralled by Higuruma's talent and the chapter narration confirms that his aptitude for Jujutsu rivals Gojo's.
Narrator : " From the dazzling light of his lethal blade, that once again shone...To the unbounded raw talent..that rivals even Gojo Satoru!"
  • Mei Mei gets a moment when she jumps into the fray from afar and uses her Black Bird Manipulation to send in some high speed crow bullets. While the attack fails, she does note with a smile that Sukuna decided to dodge and avoid the blow entirely rather than take it head on.
  • Ino wielding Nanami's sword; as Sukuna realizes after getting hit with it, Nanami's technique is infused within the blade, enabling Ino to hit Sukuna head on with a swing powerful enough for the King of Curses to feel it and become impressed by the sheer power emanating from the blade.
  • Kusakabe utilizing Simple Domain nullifying Sukuna's slashes to a degree and going from someone unwilling to fight special grades to becoming the leader of the modern sorcerers after Gojo's death. Concocting a plan with his fellow sorcerers and enacting strategies whilst also willing to listen to feedback and take all the help they can get. Reassuring Hiromi that he did his best to use Judgeman against Sukuna and telling him flat out that he'd protect him with his life.
Kusakabe: "I'll protect you even if it kills me!"
  • Sukuna sincerely compliments Hiromi internally as he finds his potential and skill for Jujutsu to be similar to a level of his and proceeds to utilize his Cleave against Yuji calling him a bore. After Yuji is temporarily dispatched by Sukuna's cleave, Hiromi continues to swing the Sword of Execution at Sukuna and does everything he can to land a hit with the sword in hand. Sukuna utilizes an enhanced Dismantle attack to cut off Hiromi's arms and taunts him to heal using Reverse Cursed Technique if he can. Hiromi, despite musing to himself, manages to utilize Reverse Cursed Technique with one arm healed back and manages to land a hit, but Sukuna cuts off his hand when Hiromi does finally manage to hit it and then Sukuna uses cleave on Hiromi. Despite this, however, Hiromi throws the now miniature Sword to Yuji, telling him "I've done all I can." And as Yuji looks into Hiromi's eyes, Nanami comes forth in Yuji's memory with the words "You've got it from here." As Yuji swings the sword to the back of Sukuna, Yuji thinks to himself:
Yuji: "I am a Jujutsu Sorcerer!!!"
    • The chapter following this sees Yuji and Sukuna clash for a brief moment. During this time, Sukuna realizes Yuji's skills have grown considerably since they last met. As in, he learned Reverse Cursed Technique in the span of a month.
  • It's revealed that Ui Ui has been using his Teleportation Cursed Technique to covertly evacuate injured Sorcerers to Shoko so she can heal them with her Reverse Cursed Technique, meaning that there is a real chance that some of the fatal injuries sustained by Sorcerers might not be so fatal after all...
  • Sukuna admitting to himself that he actually feels irritated; via him acknowledging that Yuji's sheer unbreakable will and refusal to back down despite being an ant fighting something far above him in Sukuna's eyes.
  • Yuta Okkotsu joins the battle after finally disposing of Kenjaku and once again shows why he's considered a prodigy. Clashing with Sukuna, he unleashes his domain "Authentic Mutual Love", which is essentially the inside of Rika's body where she stores all of the CTs he's copied throughout his life taking the form of a field of katanas. Once Itadori also enters the fight, this is the first time since Kashimo that the King of Curses appears to actually be concerned.
  • Chapter 250 is one of the best action sequences in the series - Yuji and Yuta work in perfect tandem to kick Sukuna's ass halfway across Shinjuku, with Yuta drawing on six different Cursed Techniques with the swords from his Domain Expansion to variously lock down, disorient, and damage Sukuna while Yuji provides support in the form of bone-shaking punches, usually at the same time, which is enough to mildly impress the King of Curses with their rapid development. And how does the chapter end? With Yuta holding the sixth sword to Sukuna's face and uttering one hell of a name:
    Yuta: Cleave.
  • Chapter 252: With Sukuna incapacitating Yuta and Yuji, none other than Maki joins the fray, starting with a stab through Sukuna's heart from behind and quickly proving that she's more than on par with him physically as they battle through a nearby highway at incredible speeds, with a notable highlight being Maki responding to Sukuna grabbing her sword by flashing a Slasher Smile and simply rotating her wrist to flip him over. Hell, even having most of a building dropped on her with Cleave barely fazes Maki at this point, just to drive home that she really is Toji's equal now.
  • Chapter 253 continues the badassery of Maki vs. Sukuna as the two speed up even further, their clash rapidly moving from beneath an overpass to inside a hospital after the two start casually throwing entire cars at each other. Kusakabe and Ino briefly try to intervene, but Maki bounces back from a direct Cleave and keeps going toe-to-toe with Sukuna, who admits that she's the first Worthy Opponent he's found besides Gojo due to her very existence defying Gojo...and finally finds the opportunity to land a Black Flash of his own.
Sukuna: This is the first time...that anyone has given me something to prove.
  • Chapter 254 features Kusakabe, of all people, fighting Sukuna - and while you might be aghast alongside many fans at the decision to have him fight the Big Bad, his performance will no doubt win you over. Testimony from Gojo, Nanami, and Mei Mei, some of the most skilled combatants in the series, reveal that while Kusakabe doesn't have a Cursed Technique of his own or crazy physical prowess, what he does specialize in, what he's honed for years and years, is Simple Domain: unlike everyone else, he can expand it to envelop his opponents, then inflict a couple conditions on them to guarantee that his attacks will land since they've "invaded" his space. Combined with Awesomeness by Analysis that lets him deflect Sukuna's slashes and genuine Master Swordsman skill, Kusakabe proves able to not only momentarily stalemate Sukuna, but cut nearly every inch of his body in the blink of an eye and kick him through a highway system, even dodging Sukuna's Cleaves like a spy dodging lasers. Even though Sukuna predictably cuts him down shortly afterward, Kusakabe still earns every ounce of his position as the #1 Special Grade Sorcerer.
  • Chapter 255 has perhaps the most surprising character turnaround of the entire story: Miguel, last seen getting his shit kicked in by Gojo. Fans were understandably wary of such a random character being chosen for the next round of stalling Sukuna...so Miguel demonstrates exactly why he was able to stalemate even Gojo with his Cursed Technique, Prayer Song, which has the straightforward effect of increasing Miguel's physical strength and weakening his opponents so long as he moves his body in time with a beat. What makes it so effective here, though, is that Miguel is already pretty beefy and Sukuna, as basically a living Curse, is hit extra hard by it - so Miguel proceeds to breakdance through Cleaves and generally run circles around Sukuna, who's intrigued but bewildered by the Bunny-Ears Lawyer before him. And just to up the ante, Yuji and then Maki return to the melee as well, with the former distracting Sukuna with an earth-shattering double-fisted blow just long enough for Maki to cut off both his left hands.
  • Chapter 256 has Yuji remind everyone who the main character is. First, he uses Blood Manipulation for the first time, hitting Sukuna with Piercing Blood, and then, after an assist from Larue's Cursed Technique, he hits Sukuna with the mother of all Black Flashes.
Narrator: Black Flash releases Yuji's potential. Amidst a shower of black sparks... Yuji Itadori has awakened!
    • Props also has to be given to both Choso and Larue for their efforts in helping Yuji set up the Black Flash despite being battered by the King of Curses themselves, with Choso holding Sukuna in place with an armor made of his own blood after being hit and lending Yuji the means to land a surprise Piercing Blood at point-blank on Sukuna while Larue, despite being badly wounded, refuse to call it quit until he can briefly hold Sukuna down with his Cursed Technique, leading to the aforementioned moment.
  • Chapter 257 is perhaps best described as one long, satisfying beatdown. The chapter opens with Yuji and Sukuna facing each other 1 on 1. Sukuna tries to attack, but Yuji parries him and hits a Black Flash. Sukuna tries to counter attack. Yuji parries again and hits another Black Flash. Sukuna hits Yuji off a ledge, at which point Yuji grabs a pillar and reveals that he had just awakened to Sukuna's Cursed Technique and throws a cut-off chunk of the pillar at Sukuna, which distracts the King of Curses for Yuji to land another Black Flash. Ino comes in and attacks Sukuna, which distracts the King of Curses for a few moments and allows Yuji to land another Black Flash from behind.note  Sukuna tries to turn the tables on Yuji with a slash and hit combo, but Yuji throws him against the wall and hits him with another Black Flash. Sukuna counterattacks by using Cleave on Yuji and tearing half the skin on his face. Yuji barely reacts and hits him with another Black Flash. Sukuna is fully raging at his point, and then Ino, still kicking, throws Nanami's sword at Sukuna and nails him in the face, leaving him wide open for another Black Flash from Yuji.
    • Including the one he landed in the chapter prior, Yuji has hit Sukuna with eight Black Flashes. The previous world record set by Nanami was four.
    • Ino honestly deserves a mention. He's effectively a normal, everyday sorcerer fighting in the middle of all these uber powerful monsters, yet he's able to pull his weight and legitimately help out just by being in the right place in the right time. Not bad for a guy who's still at Grade 2.
    • Sukuna's reaction to all of this is extremely satisfying. When Sukuna was fighting Gojo, he was having the time of his life, grinning ear to ear as his opponent unveiled all these crazy tricks while countering everything that Sukuna was pulling out. The two of them recognized each other's strength and held genuine respect for their opponent, which was evident through all the lighthearted banter they were throwing at each other. None of that is the case here. Sukuna responds to Yuji not with satisfaction from being challenged but genuine rage. Yuji's entire existence flies in the face of Sukuna's ideology and, no matter how much Sukuna doesn't want to admit it, Yuji is pushing him to his limit. Not by pulling out crazy, fancy feats of sorcery like Gojo did, but instead by simply beating the shit out of him.
    • The cherry on top is that Yuji doesn't say a single word during all of this. While Sukuna's previous opponents like Gojo or Kashimo sought self-affirmation in their battle against Sukuna, Yuji simply doesn't care. Yuji doesn't respect Sukuna's status as the strongest nor does he feel the need to match up to that title. He doesn't need to understand Sukuna's ideology nor does he need Sukuna to understand his. Yuji doesn't even crave the satisfaction of being the one to personally kill him after everything Sukuna did to him. The only thing Yuji wants in this battle is for Sukuna to die and for Megumi to come back. Gojo and Kashimo were the strongest of their eras. They respected Sukuna and were, in turn, respected by him. But the one who pushes Sukuna to his absolute limit isn't them. It's Yuji: a boy who spits in the face of everything Sukuna believes in and whose very existence is a personal attack against Sukuna. To Yuji, Sukuna is just another curse who needs to die. Nothing more, nothing less.
    • A big one in all this: a flashback to Sukuna talking with Uraume has the latter drop a bombshell when they realize the implications of what Yuji is: Yuji might have the same potential as Sukuna himself. Yuji may well have a shot at becoming the World's Strongest Man.
