The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
Find a Trope:
openNo Title Film
I'm thinking of a trope, it's similar to Billing Displacement, but it's more of a region thing, like Person A gets top billing in one country cause he's more popular there, but Person B gets top billing in another country because he's more popular. Or is that still falling under Billing Displacement?
(if I must be specific. Seth Rogan and Jay Chou in posters for The Green Hornet. Rogan gets top billing in the US, Chou in Asia.)
openCross-species crush
An unrequited crush where the characters are of two different, non-compatible sentient species. Examples would be Spike (Dragon) and Rarity (Pony) in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic or Morgana (Cat) and Ann (Human) in Persona 5. Related to PrecociousCrush, except with species instead of age acting as a barrier to the crush. Related to InterspeciesRomance, but unrequited and unable to consumate in any meaningful way.

A character falls ill because they are so hopelessly in love with someone. I know we have Hanahaki Disease but that is much more specific than this.
openHow Do You Not Know This?
What's the one where a character doesn't know really basic things about the world they've lived in their whole life?
openRecurring Central Dungeon Videogame
A video game trope where a game has a central dungeon that the player has to return to at several points during the game in order to progress.
Examples: Temple of the Ocean King from Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Tower of Spirits from Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Tartarus from Persona 3, and Mementos from Persona 5.

Is there a trope for when someone comically slams a door in someone's face after they answer it, then open it up, then slam again? I'm looking for a comedy trope that's Played for Laughs. As an example, there's Hazbin Hotel, where Charlie slammed the door in Alastor's face when he tried to say hello, then reopened it, then slammed it again. I tried looking for the trope there, but found nothing. Is there even a trope for this?
Edited by ssjSegaopenMain character is good but everyone portrays him as a villain
Example 1: The Dark Knight Returns - Batman fights with criminals, but many Gotham citizens are afraid of him; media portrays him as a danger.
Example 2: One Piece - Straw Hat Pirates are definitely good guys, but marines hunt them
openSnitches get Stitches
A character gets injured or gets killed off because they ratted out people in their group or threatened to.
openDevice that holds the eyes open for brainwashing videos
A torture device that holds eyelids open so the victim can't avoid seeing whatever is in front of them (usually a propaganda video).
It's not Forced to Watch (that's "I will torture you by causing harm to your friends and forcing you to observe this") but it can overlap.
openBlind Predator
Being stalked by someone/something that can't see you but can hear or smell you. Examples: Don't Breathe, Little Nightmares.
Edited by TheGreatConversationopenConstantly dying protagonist Literature
A protagonist in an adventure story with an acquired medical condition whereby he has to use a Healing Potion at least once a day, or he'll basically cough up his lungs. Due to the way the condition was acquired, said potion merely starts the one day cycle anew, thereby keeping him less than a day away from dying no matter how powerful he may become.
The character has to deal with it more directly than a Wound That Will Not Heal, but he doesn't actually die during the story.
openObject Head
a character has an object or symbol for a head but is otherwise humanoid. what is it called?
openSolution right in their face?
Bob is walking on the street, thinking about a problem he is currently dealing with and wonders himself what could he do to fix that problem when suddenly... the wind causes a newspaper to get stuck in Bob's face, and when takes it off he reads it and sees that there is an article that might have a possible solution to his problem, whether that be an application for a TV Show, a trip or something like that.
This situation is not exclusive to newspapers, sometimes it can be a poster with an inspirational phrase that causes the character to turn over a new leaf (heck, the poster can also come flying right into their face just like the newspaper), it can also be a contest found on an ice cream box or a bag of potato chips for example.
openCharacters is a lot smarter and underestimated a lot Literature
Is there a trope where a character a lot smarter and cunning then previously thought? Not for evil purposes but just so people doesn't have any expectations of him. Only to later have someone close to him in danger, he has to secretly plan a plot and have the antagonist not expect it was him.
So, Alice is Betty's Living Emotional Crutch, but Alice didn't know that. Once, when Alice went out for a bit, Betty received a stressor that causes her to go into Heroic BSoD by her clutching Alice's belonging and holding it in a position not unlike Cradle of Loneliness.
Alice is not dead. Indeed, Alice saw Betty doing this when she's back at the expected time.
I was tempted to trope that as Cradle of Loneliness, downplayed and/or Played for Laughs, but I'm not sure if there's a more suitable trope?
