Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Ask the Tropers is for:

Ask the Tropers:
openCharacter's Prime and Alternate-Future Selves merged or remain separate?
I've seen precedence for both:
- Sougo Tokiwa and Woz from Kamen Rider Zi-O (Merged)
- Saru Brother, Oni Sister, Don Murasame and their alternate future selves from Avataro Sentai Donbrothers (Separate)
I recently merged Gotchard's Prime Houtaro and Gotchard Daybreak, but now I'm having doubts that it was the right decision.
Any suggestions?
Edited by LeleTinFarylresolved Why is Tzadikim Nistarim listed in JustForFun?
Tzadikim Nistarim strikes me as a fairly regular, non-typically-comedic trope. So... why? Did I come late to the joke or something?
openVansploitation ??? Film
So it seems (I literally discovered this by accident today) that "Vansploitation" is a thing on IMDB, yet no match here? https://www.imdb.com/search/keyword/?keywords=vansploitation&ref_=tt_stry_kw
openTrope Cofifiers and Namers
I always wonder why the page doesn´t include a message in the media that, in some way, is a trope codifier, namer or creator. Like I get it, some of those are basically related to real life or mythological aspects of our culture, but I think it could be easier if some pages include that kind of notes. For example:
War of the worlds Trope Creator of: -Tripod Terror -Alien Invasion
Lord of the Rings Trope Creator of: -Our elves are different
Starship Troopers Trope Creator of: -Power Armor -Bug War
openHypothetical Casting Literature
I'm wondering if I could make a Hypothetical Casting page for Once Upon a Studio: Version 2.0, with it being a full-scale reimagining of Disney's 100th anniversary short film, but I think I should ask how many credits, roughly, would be needed to accommodate that page. The credits are already listed under Fan Works, but I'm hoping to move them to a dedicated Hypothetical Casting page for the fanfic itself.
Edited by IronSpider24openSuspect edits regarding trans stuff
So troper Chef Cranky Rogan has made some edits regarding trans people that are potentially concerning.
- In here and here, they make a mention of Shiki Aoki being a non-op trans man.
- In here here, they listed Brandon Winckler (a non-binary actor) as an aversion to Cross-Dressing Voices simply because he uses he/they pronouns.
- In here, they commented out a Cross-Dressing Voices entry regarding another non-binary VA (Giselle Fernandez) with this edit reason:
I brought this troper up before here, so the fact that they making edits like this despite being called off by people on the thread is really concerning to me.
Edited by Ayumi-chanopenIs it safe to recreate Fanon/PuyoPuyo? Videogame
Regarding https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Fanon/PuyoPuyo, it was cut for good reason since I didn't really touch it then. Right now I have two examples for fanon regarding characters, so is it okay if i re-open it as long as I have at least TWO examples or something?
if yes, thank you so much since i really love puyo
open Image not formatting Anime
In Lady The Brighton Family, the folder for Alexandra won't format her manga image.
resolved Which folder
I'm trying to figure out where to crosswick an entry for The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System: Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong to when it pertains specifically to the donghua. Should it still go under the Literature folder on the trope page or under Asian Animation?
Edited by ZaperexopenZCE issue on Funny page
I commented out an example placed by Hisha P in Funny.Humans B Gone because I felt it was a zero context example, only for them to uncomment it back without an edit reason.
openQuick question: Surprisingly Mundane Reason
I think Anti-Humor would be related to Surprisingly Mundane Reason (i.e the answer of a joke is surprisingly mundane and not jokey), though I'm asking here just to be sure.
What do you think?
Edited by Ner0014reNopenTwo pages for the same episode
It seems there are two pages for the Series/Creepshow S 1 E 8: 1 and 2 Is it ok to send the 1 to the cutlist? I'm not familiar with the work (I've encountered the double doing TRS disambig), but it the 2 is the one indexed on the recap page and 1 is not. They have different spelling of the title character's name
openPage needs renaming
I noticed the page for Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea goes by a translation of the film's Japanese name, when in English it's known as just Ponyo. TV Tropes has a policy of going by a work's official English name whenever possible. The normal solution would of course be to manually change everything myself, but I don't know if I'll have the time or resources to do everything. Is it possible to tell a moderator to do this for me? Thanks in advance.
I should also mention the film has a bunch of subpages that go by Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea and need changing as well.

So for the trope, How Do I Shot Web?, shouldn’t it be How Do I "Shoot" Web? Isn’t that more grammatically correct?
Edited by GateStarXopenFetishy example on VideoGame.SuperAdventureIslandII?
I was looking at VideoGame.Super Adventure Island II when I saw this example:
- Mr. Fanservice: Master Higgins is quite muscly in the opening cutscenes along with being stocky; he's mostly naked for the first level or so until he finds armor and the soles of his feet can be seen down to the individual toe beans.
Weirded out by it, I saw it was Digipig that added it, fairly recently on January 11th, 2024. I did a quick check to see if they had posted any similar examples to this on other pages, but not from whatI can see from recent exmaples. I don't know if there's a habit there or not.
Regardless, the character isn't really made to be made attractive, so I think it's misuse regardless.
Edited by PlasmaPoweropenBittybear10 = ArmorLeFou?
I have a hunch that Bittybear 10 is Armor Le Fou ban evading. Both have (or had) similar editing patterns on the TLP, notably making numerous "animal is a certain colour" drafts. But what stands out to me is that Bittybear10 added Yellow Duck to an index, despite it not being a trope...and ArmorLeFou has a sandbox dedicated to this non-existent trope that only they have edited. Also, they tipped a hat on the Cartoon Monkey draft that Planet Of The Primates (another sock of ArmorLeFou) adopted. I find it hard to believe that this is a coincidence.
Edited by UFOYeahopenDC and Marvel sub pages
Hello, it's been a while since we talked, and I would've reached out to you sooner, but I've been sick and recovering. I'm well enough to edit on TV tropes, but I was too ill to send you a message until now.
I wanted to discuss the topic of DC and Marvel subpages again. There's a lot of debate and controversy about these subpages, mainly because they have examples from multiple mediums, and people are complaining about the other mediums being on two pages. You even deleted and removed some of the examples on these subpages, which if is a violation of the rules regarding subpages, I understand.
But then I realized something that would solve the problem: keep the examples on the sub-pages while deleting the second examples on the other pages. Based on my interpretation of the complaints, this would solve the problem and keep the pages instead of erasing them completely. I started doing this in a number of the sub-pages, and so I would like some feedback of this idea.
May recreate the recap page for Wolverine and the X-Men? I am already prepared to create a recap page for an episode or two when I know it’s okay.
