Naturally, fanfic authors have their own ideas about what various characters (both original characters and pre-established ones) should look and/or sound like.
Fan works with their own page:
- iCarly's Father and its sequels, a Nick Verse fanfic series which is mainly a crossover between iCarly and Victorious, has the hypothetical casting of Joe Flanigan as the adult Steven Shay, and Ariana Grande with her natural brunette hair colour as Taylor Dorfman in flashbacks set during her and Col Shay's romance during high school. The hypothetical resemblance between Taylor and Cat Valentine (Ariana's redhaired character on Victorious) is brought up when Steven meets Cat for the first time.
- The Harmon Verse: Its Original Characters are played by real-life actors and actresses, mostly from either talent shows or from Broadway productions.
- In A Girl and Her Bike, Word of God states that Bumblebee is voiced by Garret Hunter, the same voice actor as Adam Taurus. This was done largely with the intent of playing the two up as foils to each other.
- The Doom Slayer in Remnant Inferis: DOOM is stated by Word of God in the author's notes of Chapter 7 to be voiced by Brian Bloom and his child-self is voiced by Maile Flanagan, as stated in the Chapter 12 author's notes.
- In Child of the Storm has a lot of this, with the author at one point writing down an extensive cast list - though he has admitted that his ideas change from time to time, and it's very hard to pin down someone just right.
- Harry, and by extension Thor's James Potter form, is fancast as Tom Welling. The Casting Gag inherent in this is an early hint at the link between Krypton and Earth, though Word of God has noted that Harry is changing to resemble his mother more as he ages, suggesting that he's growing into something closer to Henry Cavill or Pierce Brosnan.

- The Wattpad posting of The First Saniwa boasts a hypothetical live-action cast rather than voice cast, which features most of the characters as played by actors portraying them in the games' official live-action adaptations (except Higekiri who's supposed to be played by Masaki Okada as opposed to the official Hiroki Miura who already plays Hiromasa). - Once Upon a Studio: Version 2.0 is as hypothetical extended cut of Disney's centenary short in which several previously absent voice actors return to voice their respective characters, and to fill in for substitutes cast exclusively for the existing cut:
- Most of the 48 voice actors from the existing short would once again return to reprise their characters, including Jodi Benson as Ariel, Paige O'Hara as Belle, Nathan Lane as Timon, Jeremy Irons as Scar, Kristen Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa and Dwayne Johnson as Maui. Tom Hulce would also return as Quasimodo. The archival outtakes of Robin Williams as the Genie would also be retained.
- Prince Charming is reprised by Chris Daniel Barnes, who has been his main voice actor since 2001; instead of Keith Ferguson who did Charming's one line in the existing version of the short. This may be a result of Charming's role being increased considerably. Barnes also reprises his role as Prince Eric; a major case of Acting for Two.
- Likewise, Snow White is reprised by Katie Von Till, who has been her main voice actress since 2010, instead of Natalie Babbitt Taylor who did the role in the original short.
- Jiminy Cricket would be voiced by his current voice actor Joe Ochman, instead of an archival recording of Cliff Edwards, due to his solo line occuring earlier on in the rousing rendition of "When You Wish Upon a Star"
- Jennifer Hale remains as Cinderella's voice, and Mandy Moore as Rapunzel's. Their role is expanded considerably as they both start up up the enhanced rendition of "When You Wish Upon a Star", with Raps starting the song off on her guitar, and Cinderella singing the opening lines, before handing over to Belle and the Beast. Hale's singing voice as Cinderella is surprisingly beautiful, which makes her a perfect fit to start; and could make this her finest hour as Cinders if it was ever realized. Moore also gets to start up the final verse as Rapunzel alongside Eugene, Ariel, Eric, Aladdin and Jasmine, while also singing a duet with Eugene near the end.
- Zachary Levi is back as well, due to Eugene's increased role.
- Tony Goldwyn and Minnie Driver also return as the voices of Tarzan and Jane.
- Kate Higgins and Linda Larkin also return as Aurora and Jasmine, respectively, with Brad Kane and Lea Salonga reprising Aladdin and Jasmine's singing voices.
- Ernie Sabella also returns as Pumbaa, whose voice was noticeably absent in the original.
- Temuera Morrison also returns in another rare appearance as Moana's father, Chief Tui; which would be his first time reprising the role since the original Moana in 2016. Morrison would also provide Tui's singing voice, instead of Christopher Jackson.
- Interestingly enough, Morrison would be the third major Star Wars alumni returning; the other two being Jennifer Hale and Kelly Marie Tran.
- Barbara Dirickson is also present as Fairy Godmother's voice.
- In Game of Throne: The Young Stag, the author envisioned live action actors to portray several characters.
- On the FANDOM wiki for Tokimeki PokéLive! and TwinBee, the author has listed some VAs/Seiyuu for characters on their wiki pages. Some examples include:
