Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Minus those Narm entries, every example on the YMMV was added by the author who is definitely the creator. If the Narm entries are removed, then the page should be sent to the Cut List for having no content.
Edited by TabsJust looking at the pages, I would argue that a Narm entry could stay given that it was shortened down to something like, "The art of the comic often makes serious moments unintentionally laughable." I am assuming that one reaction is enough for a YMMV page, as opposed to the minimum three required for a work page.
^ Yes, any number of YMMV entries above 0 is enough.
I guess it's within Maddoxsort's rights to complain about how TV Tropes works? Although that much text does sorta-kinda break the "Don't be a dick" rule. I mean, Hanging Judges? Viral infection?
Edited by Tabs^ The text on their page is iffy, and their edit reason to Robert (despite also being really complainy) is proof that the bad attitude can spill into the wiki proper.
Maddox also added an image from their own webcomic to Sequential Boss, which isn't inherently a bad move (if a bit frowned upon) but it was a very unclear image. It was recently replaced, but it's worth noting that Robert is the one who made the thread and, once again, was rude about the art style ("An unapproved Image upload that looks like something I drew when I was 13").
Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Okay, I apologize for the Narm comments, they can be removed if you feel the need to.
On the other hand... yeah, about the webcomic, I'm not offering any further comments / opinions regarding the artwork's quality
Edited by RobertTYLthe troper page bashes the hell out of Fighteer, mentions Encyclopedia Dramatica, and makes veiled doxxing/death threats.
that is not at all kosher.
Right. They put it in spoiler tags so it's easy to miss though it's in the beginning.
The thing is, this doesn't really make sense. They write:
The suspension was on May 16th, 2017, then on the 20th they added their take on the policies and the Fighteer bashing.
Edited by SirenaTheir entry in Edit Banned was slightly bitter about the rules, but not uncooperative. Has anybody sent them a PM to this thread yet?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I'm concerned it'll lead to a flame-out, personally.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessEDIT: rude of me
And as Chloe noted the section bashing Fighteer includes barely-at-all-veiled death threats and doxxing threats. Direct quotes:
Aku: You know, Samurai, some of us have to live with our mistakes, but you get to DIE for yours! MWHA-HA-HA-HAAAAAA!!
^^ Yeah, as an autistic person, I would really prefer we not associate autism with inappropriate, vindictive behavior. And armchair diagnosing is just really inappropriate and popcorn-posty.
Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Agreed. Tropers have diagnosed other Tropers in ATT threads before and it's always frowned upon.
On another note, since this thread was created, Maddoxsort added a comment to just about every one of the Narm entries justifying/explaining the art quality. They've all been deleted by another Troper, but Maddoxsort point blank admitted that yes, they are the author of the comic.
They also added Win Back the Crowd (also deleted) and more edits to their page, including this under Narm:
- Sometimes, the art is right on the money and looks crisp and done by experienced hands...
It's obvious now that Maddoxsort is very defensive of the comic and is using the YMMV page to brag about their own work.
This warrants a suspension. Permission granted to pull them all unless if they can be verified.

Edited by GnomeTitan^^ Is it possible to compare their IP with that of other suspended users? Why do they think Fighteer did something to them "a long time ago"?
^ In that case, Mimic1990 stands out because of their disdain for the staff in the past. I wonder if it's one of their socks?
Most likely not - this troper page was created all the way back in 2017.
No match between Mimic 1990 and maddox.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportJust a quick apology for the rude and uncalled-for armchair diagnosing above. I was sleep deprived and in a bad mood.
Edited by Dirtyblue929Posted in Narm Cleanup regarding the example. If they can't salvage it, it's off to the chopping block.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportGood lord, those entries are written maliciously. Maddox being possessive was an issue but I understand why they would get so upset. I'm almost worried this might be personally motivated because of how obscure this comic seems to be.
I already posted in the cleanup, and I'll add more detail, but I don't think much is worth salvaging.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I want to point out that I restored those entries only because the comic's creator was the one who'd deleted them and that's not the way to do things.
I'm going to second the opinion that this smacks of offsite drama. That subpage looks like a personal vendetta.
the subpage has now been cut (thanks Mewtron for wading through the bull for us).
and Maddoxsort has agreed to cut the hostility from their troper page.
with that, i think we're done here.
Just pointed out that in August 20th of the previous year, Maddox once put their own comic in FanficRecs.Eureka Seven as a recommendation, so I removed it, as Fanfic Recommendations subpages forbid self-promotions.
Vi: Well, it's not like we're getting attacked by a giant wasp spider guardian! | Leif: Never combine those words ever again.
I have some concerns about Maddoxsort and I unfortunately do not know how to approach them.
And this:
What I am more concerned of, though, is that Maddoxsort admits on their Troper page to being the creator of Eureka Seven: Paradox Makers—or at the very least, very closely involved in the creation of it. They're pretty much the only Troper to have edited the page, which in and of itself is fine. As we've discussed on ATT before, creators may edit pages for their work. Some of their edits have issues like ZCE and trope misuse, but my main concern is that they are Auto-Erotic Troping on the YMMV page. Maddoxsort has added Author's Saving Throw, Adorkable, Holy Shit Quotient, and Fanon, and in pretty...self-congratulatory ways.
What brought my attention to this Troper was the edit of another one, Robert TYL, who could also use a talking-to about using YMMV pages to mock works. All their edits under Narm are links to pages from the Webcomic with descriptors like "Here be an action-packed human vs. mecha battle as sketched by an 8 year-old with an aneurysm" and "illustrated by a toddler who found out a ballpoint pen can, in fact, be used for art." Maddoxsort has deleted two so far, with the reason "The jokes are not appreciated, you asshole. At least now I know which ones to redo."
I am unsure of how to broach this situation. I see rudeness in the Troper page and Auto-Erotic Troping, but also Robert TYL breaking the "don't be a dick" rule.
