Right, you shouldn't use a supertrope when the subtrope is present.

I removed the entries, citing this ATT in my edit reason.

Make sure the troper in question knows it's a supertrope now. It was a (relatively) recent change, so they may not have checked the page, or be aware of the supertrope rule.

Are we still allowed to list Hate Sink as a trope? And is there a conscious effort to clean up the wicks?

I mean, it's not here, and there are still people adding it to works

We are allowed to list it as a trope. All that needs to be done is to keep an eye out for examples that belong under subtropes.

The problem with this though is, the subtrope in question is not representative of the supertrope. Like not even remotely. Dirty Coward is like barely part of Endou's character at all, you could cut the Dirty Coward scene and she would still be a Hate Sink through and through. The Hate Sink entry talks about something completely different. Same goes for Bitch in Sheep's Clothing (I'd argue she doesn't even count as that, she's a straight up Jerkass)

This isn't like Character Death and Killed Off for Real where the tropes are mutually inclusive, where having one must mean the other.

Endou's Hate Sink comes from being a Jerkass and The Bully. For Sugou it's because he's an immoral Mad Scientist and rapist and torturer. Chudelkin he's just a slimy Jerkass who repeatedly kicks the dog and tortures.

In fact for Endou you're better off cutting Dirty Coward as that happens for like one scene that even then was a stretch for counting as an example (she runs when the cops are called, and she panicks when Shino takes the gun and uses it for real), while the other stuff in her Hate Sink entry is like a defining part of her character.

I agree with Snowy on that stance

If Hate Sink is more accurate, then yeah, use it.

FWIW, I've added the Hate Sink trope to the Administrivia.TRS Wick Cleaning page.

Are you in agreement for Endou in keeping Hate Sink and removing the very loosely applying subtropes?

Sugou and Chudelkin I'll have to have a proper look over for subtropes first.

I can understand where Snowy's thoughts are coming from.

Having a think, I'll also say Sugou doesn't really count as Dirty Coward either. He has two Oh, Crap! / Villainous Breakdown moments once it's clear he doesn't have even a microscopic chance of winning, but he never tries to run away or anything. The second time he actually displayed enough Villainous Valor to make a Last Stand.

ig he could count for Smug Snake, but again the stuff in his Hate Sink entry covers something completely different to that. It’s all about his most despicable traits of all, while most of the Hate Sink subtropes listed are about lesser things.
