Is it a controversial opinion to say that I don't think Timothee Chalamet is very attractive? And that I don't really get what appeal if any he has?
He reminds me of a scarecrow with a wooden rectangle for a head with "I AM TIM" written on it with a smily face under that.
Sign on for this After The End Fantasy RP.No, explaining how unattractive you find famous celebrities is actually the opposite of controversial.
It is a very obvious, banal position.
Well, aside from that, having seen Dune, the description of him as a scarecrow with a rectangle for a head in my opinion also sums up his acting in the film.
In a cast of well rounded and highly interesting characters, Tim stands out only in how starkly uninteresting and meh he is.
He doesn't so much move to the plot as he gets dragged along by the breeze.

Was there a reason you couldn't bring this negativity up in the Dune thread, or...what?
It just didn't seem to relate to or connect to the current topic.
And I figured the chatterbox area was for anything that didn't particularly fit or seem relevant to the current topic in a given thread.
Edit - Also, why the emphasis on negativity? Is negativity discouraged?

Sign on for this After The End Fantasy RP.I thought Chalamet was good in The French Dispatch.
Also can you stop calling him Tim? He is probably not your nephew or something.
While promoting Red Notice at the red carpet, Dwayne Johnson declared that in light of the tragedy that saw Halyna Hutchins die during production on the film Rust, all projects from Seven Bucks Productions (the studio he co-founded) will not use real firearms, effective immediately.
We generally do not like negativity about a person's appearance or character. You can opine about his performance in a specific work if you have to.

We'll see, strictly speaking they should'nt have been using actual firearms from the beginning

Echoing hymn of my fellow passerine | Art blog (under construction)I want to see Zooey Deschanel play against type, have her be a serial killer or something.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Last week I went to the theater for the first time in ages and I wanted to help the local industry so I went seeing Freaks Out by Gabriele Mainetti, the one who directed They call me Jeeg.
Basically the story is "Superpowered circus freaks vs. Nazis in 1940s Rome". For an Italian movie it has a fairly big budget and it shows in special effects, practical effects, sets, make up etc., however it seems that they wanted to show off more than making a coherent story and developed characters. The battle between the Nazi forces, the freaks and the partisans (la Resistance) at the end feels neverending and the partisans' whole characterization is "people with physical defects who kill Nazis" and nothing else. Still, it was quite enjoyable if a bit uneven at times, and finally Italy does something different from the usual mundane dramas, rom-coms, vulgar slapstick and documentary films.
"Effective Altruism" is just another bunch of horsesh*t.Full trailer for Adam McKay's sci-fi black comedy: Don't Look Up
Jesus Christ, this idiocy in everyone minus the scientists is really next-level... (The acting is great FYI.) If government officials acted like this in real life, then we'll really be screwed.
According to Deadline, despite Bohemian Rhapsody earning a worldwide gross of $911m against a $55m budget, the film actually loss $51m. Which means the film failed to earn a profit.
Screenwriter Anthony Mc Carten is currently suing on the matter, as this is actually rare, but notable example in the past for films like Coming to America and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Anime Supremacy, a Japanese novel about three ladies (a director, a producer, and an animator) climbing the deathly mountain that is the anime industry, is getting a live-action movie coming May 2022.
And now it has a trailer out:
We also have real trailers for the in-universe projects within the movie.
Kinda aggravating because I actually want to see these be fully realized. Heh.
Deadline reports that Beano Studios and DC Thompson have launched a new studio, Emanata, to develop television and film tentpoles based on their popular characters from the Beano, Dandy, Commando etc.

Semi-crossposting from the R.I.P. thread:
Yeah, I need to share this somewhere.
Netflix shared trivia about Stephen Sondheim and the movie version of tick, tick... BOOM! not long ago.
Essentially, having learned from Sondheim himself, TTB's director Lin-Manuel Miranda showed Sondheim an early cut of the film. Sondheim loved the film and it's take on him as played by Bradley Whitford, but Sondheim had one request: Sondheim wanted to rewrite the voicemail Jon gets in the final act. Sondheim even said he would record the voice if Whitford wasn't available.
Sure enough, Whitford wasn't available, so what we got in the movie is the real Stephen Sondheim doing a voiced Real-Person Cameo as himself giving Jon one hell of a pep talk.
And goddamn it, I haven't even seen TTB yet, but the scene is still so damn beautiful and touching. The music, Jon's reaction, everything about this one scene just works and I actually fought back tears as I typed this. It's that good.
Godspeed, Mr. Sondheim!
Drop everything. Nicolas Cage is Adam Westing like an absolute 24 ct, diamond-studded motherfuck in "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent".
That tagline sure is accurate.
It's been 3000 years…"unbearable talent"
sir this trailers is misleading, there are no bears or talented animals
New theme music also a boxPffffft.
Here's another one, The Lost City. Ever wanted to see Harry Potter be a eccentric billionaire bad guy? How about with a side order of Tatum, Bullock, and Pitt? Got ya covered.
(Seriously though, has Daniel Radcliffe always been this short or are Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock just exceptionally taller than most? Because holy crap, I can't get over how short Radcliffe's looking.)

Daniel Radcliffe: 5'5". Channing Tatum: 6'1". Sandra Bullock: 5'7". So, yeah, looks like Radcliffe is just real short.
It's been 3000 years…Speaking of Daniel Radcliffe... He's going to play "Weird Al" Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
If the title sounds familiar, you may have seen the trailer from... 12 years ago?
As one of the 8 people in the world who watch Miracle Workers, I think Radcliffe will be great. Observe this musical glory:
Deadline: Overlord director Julius Avery is set to direct a live-action adaptation of Gantz, a manga/anime about recently-dead people being goaded into fighting aliens.
For context: Overlord is the Nazi Zombie horror-action movie by Bad Robot Productions. Good news is that regarded very highly, bad news is it didn't generate mucho dinero.
